Parashat 14 Portion 49 – Shemot/Exodus 6:2-7:18 Haftarah: Ezekiel 28:25 – 29:21 – Acts 7:17-22

Blessing for the Torah Reading:
Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-O’lam, asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim,
v’natan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim , King of the Universe,
you have selected us from among all the peoples,
and have given us your Torah. Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

Heb 12:1  We too, then, having so great a cloud of witnesses all around us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race set before us, (witness of our fathers who followed the ancient paths of YHVH are our clear example)
Heb 12:2  looking to the Princely Leader aיהושע, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the stake, having despised the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of Elohim.
nd Perfecter of our belief,
Heb 12:3  For consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and faint in your lives.

We are alive today because YHVH is giving us an opportunity to trust Him to bring to perfection the work He has begun in each of our lives.
Only the true Hebrew will experience this completion as he/she allows the Ruach (Spirit) of YHVH to lead them to walk as our Master walked here on earth. The very essence of a Hebrew is one who “has crossed over” (Hebrew comes from a Hebrew verb “avar” which means to cross over). Our father Avraham was the first Hebrew.
It will require a faith like unto Avraham’s to embrace the complete redemption of YHVH and allow that perfect and complete redemption to progressively become our reality.
That Avrahamic faith that believes against all odds that YHVH will do in and through us what we cannot do for ourselves.

1Co 9:24  Do you not know that those who run in a race indeed all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to obtain it.

2Ti 4:7  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have guarded the belief.
Eph 4:4  one body and one Spirit, as you also were called in one expectation of your calling,
Eph 4:5  one Master, one belief, one immersion,
Eph 4:6  one Elohim and Father of all,1 who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Footnote: 1 1 Cor. 8:6, 1 Tim. 2:5, Mk. 12:29-34.

“Bring us back our Father to Your Torah and bring us closer our King to Your service and make us return in complete repentance before You” (Teshuvah – Amidah)

Our Torah portion once again gives us the patterns and types of how YHVH brings us to perfection.

Exo 6:2  And Elohim spoke to Mosheh and said to him, “I am יהוה.
Exo 6:3  “And I appeared to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Yaʽaqoḇ, as Ěl Shaddai. And by My Name, יהוה, was I not known to them?
Exo 6:4  “And I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Kenaʽan, the land of their sojournings, in which they have sojourned.
Exo 6:5  “And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Yisra’ĕl whom the Mitsrites are enslaving, and I have remembered My covenant.

Yahshua must have had a deep understanding of what these words meant.

Yochanan/Joh 17:6  “I have revealed Your Name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have guarded Your Word.1 Footnote: 1See Ps. 138:2.

Joh 17:25  “O righteous Father, indeed the world did not know You, but I knew You, and these knew that You sent Me.
Joh 17:26  “And I have made Your Name known to them, and shall make it known,1 so that the love with which You loved Me might be in them, and I in them.” Footnote: 1See v. 6, Ps. 22:22, Heb. 2:12

This “Name” business seems to be very important business -  We see a pattern of how the “name” becomes known by someone. First He is known as “El Shaddai” the “many breasted one” It seems that we are first nurtured by YHVH before He can reveal His name to us.

Let’s once again look at the name of the Mighty On which He said is’ YHVH’.

There are three interesting meanings to the Hebrew root of His name.

“Hava”  (hey vav hey)means “cause to exist” – YHVH will cause everything to exist that needs to exist to bring about our complete and perfect redemption.

“Hava” can also mean to destroy – YHVH will also destroy anything that prevents or hinders His redemption from being fully accomplished.

“Hove” which is the same root – hey vav hey – can also mean present. YHVH is not bound by space and time, therefore for Him everything is in the present.

Exo 6:6  “Say, therefore, to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘I am יהוה (YHVH), and I shall bring you out from under the burdens of the Mitsrites, and shall deliver you from their enslaving, and shall redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments,
Exo 6:7  and shall take you as My people, and I shall be your Elohim (Mighty One). And you shall know that I am יהוה your Elohim who is bringing you out from under the burdens of the Mitsrites.
Exo 6:8  ‘And I shall bring you into the land which I swore to give to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Yaʽaqoḇ, to give it to you as an inheritance. I am יהוה.’ ”

These are the verses the sages use to identify the four cups that are part of the “pesach seder”

These four cups stand for the four “I wills” that are recorded in Exodus 6:6-7.

1.The cup of sanctification - "I will  cause you to go  out... Hebrew – “vehotzeiti”" 2) The cup of deliverance  "I will rescue you..." Hebrew “vehatzalti” or “snatch away” 3) The cup of redemption "I will redeem you..." – Hebrew “vegalti”4) The cup of restoration "I will bring you..." Hebrew – “velakachti”

This pattern remains true today for “Yisraelites” He causes us to go out; then He cause us to be rescued or “snatched away” when danger threatens us and He release us from bondage and He will join Himself to us.

There are two great dangers – the Amalakites – those who lick up the flesh – those who are fixated by carnal appearances and the other danger is that of wanting to run back to Mitsrayim/Egypt when our backs are against the wall.

In the prayer of the “Amidah” – “Gibor” YHVH’s Might – we pray …” umatir asurim”- “He navigates the captive out of their captivity.” He alone has the power to do this.

Because YHVH/Yahveh is who is – He is the only One who can create the right kind of circumstance that will cause us to be able go out – then He rescues us or snatches us away – then He pays the price of our redemption – then He brings us to our destination.

Or we can say – He will take us out – He will keep us out – He will rescue us if we want to run back – He will make us His people.

Exo 6:9  And Mosheh spoke thus to the children of Yisra’ĕl, but they did not listen to Mosheh, because of shortness of spirit, and from hard slavery.

“shortness of spirit” speaks of anguish and delayed expectation of good.

Pro 13:12  Expectancy drawn out makes the heart sick, But a longing come true is a tree of life.

Trapped in despair? – what does one do? Most often we simply have to wait on YHVH.

Isa 40:31  but those who wait on יהוה renew their strength, they raise up the wing like eagles, they run and are not weary, they walk and do not faint.

The Hebrew word for “wait” is “kava” (6960) and originally meant to twist or curl – like the cords of a rope are intertwined with one another. The implication being that those who are intertwined with YHVH will renew their strength. Yahshua our Master is our example as he is the most “intertwined” with the Father.

Shaul teaches us to be content in whatever our circumstances.

Php 4:11  Not that I speak concerning need, for I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.
Php 4:12  I know what it is to be humbled, and I know what it is to have in excess. In any and every situation I have learned both to be filled, and to be hungry, both to have in excess, and to be in need.
Php 4:13  I have strength to do all, through Messiah1 who empowers me. Footnote: 1John 15:5, 2 Cor. 3:5-6, 2 Cor. 12:9, Eph. 3:20, Philip. 2:13, Heb. 13:20-21, 1 John 4:4.

Exo 6:10  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Exo 6:11  “Go in, speak to Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim, to let the children of Yisra’ĕl go out of his land.”

There is once again in these days a voice crying from the wilderness – “let YHVH’s people go” The religious leaders (Pharoahs) of this world have brought YHVH’s children into bondage.
I believe the false religious systems of this world have allowed strong demonic forces to control the world and its people.
It will require another series of plagues -  the great tribulation – to break these strongholds.

Exo 6:12  And Mosheh spoke before יהוה, saying, “The children of Yisra’ĕl have not listened to me, and why would Pharaoh listen to me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?”

There is nothing that we can say in your own strength and flesh that will persuade the Phaorahs to release YHVH’s people. When YHVH’s word is spoken through your lips then it becomes a different story.

Exo 6:13  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, and gave them a command for the children of Yisra’ĕl and for Pharaoh, sovereign of Mitsrayim, to bring the children of Yisra’ĕl out of the land of Mitsrayim.

Maybe this is the reason why YHVH is raising up a very, very small remnant in these days whose lives and words are a prophetic voice to the Pharoah’s of this world to let YHVH’s people go.

Exo 6:14  These are the heads of their fathers’ houses: The sons of Re’uḇĕn, the first-born of Yisra’ĕl: Ḥanoḵ and Pallu, Ḥetsron and Karmi. These are the clans of Re’uḇĕn.
Exo 6:15  And the sons of Shimʽon: Yemu’ĕl, and Yamin, and Ohaḏ, and Yaḵin, and Tsoḥar, and Sha’ul the son of a Kenaʽanite woman. These are the clans of Shimʽon.
Exo 6:16  These are the names of the sons of Lĕwi according to their generations: Gĕreshon, and Qehath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Lĕwi were one hundred and thirty-seven.
Exo 6:17  The sons of Gĕreshon: Liḇni and Shimʽi according to their clans.
Exo 6:18  And the sons of Qehath: Amram, and Yitshar, and Ḥeḇron, and Uzzi’ĕl. And the years of the life of Qehath were one hundred and thirty-three.
Exo 6:19  And the sons of Merari: Maḥli and Mushi. These are the clans of Lĕwi according to their generations.
Exo 6:20  And Amram took for himself Yoḵeḇeḏ, his father’s sister, as wife. And she bore him Aharon and Mosheh. And the years of the life of Amram were one hundred and thirty-seven.
Exo 6:21  And the sons of Yitshar: Qoraḥ, and Nepheḡ, and Ziḵri.
Exo 6:22  And the sons of Uzzi’ĕl: Misha’ĕl, and Eltsaphan, and Sithri.
Exo 6:23  Aharon took to himself Elisheḇa, daughter of Amminaḏaḇ, sister of Naḥshon, as wife. And she bore him Naḏaḇ, and Aḇihu, Elʽazar, and Ithamar.
Exo 6:24  And the sons of Qoraḥ: Assir, Elqanah, and Aḇiyasaph. These are the clans of the Qorḥites.
Exo 6:25  And Elʽazar, Aharon’s son, took for himself one of the daughters of Puti’ĕl as wife. And she bore him Pineḥas. These are the heads of the fathers of the Lĕwites according to their clans.

Yisrael and those grafted into is YHVH’s choice – these are the ones that will come out of bondage and become a light to all the nations of how majestic and wonderful YHVH is. (Rom 11)

Exo 6:26  This is Aharon, and Mosheh, to whom יהוה said, “Bring out the children of Yisra’ĕl from the land of Mitsrayim according to their divisions.”
Exo 6:27  They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim, to bring out the children of Yisra’ĕl from Mitsrayim. This is Mosheh, and Aharon.

Note how the command to bring out the children of Yisrael is repeated twice in these two verses. The Torah does not waste words. This is possibly pointing to a future exodus from bondage.

Jer 16:14  “Therefore see, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when it is no longer said, ‘יהוה lives who brought up the children of Yisra’ĕl from the land of Mitsrayim,’
Jer 16:15  but, ‘יהוה lives who brought up the children of Yisra’ĕl from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I shall bring them back into their land I gave to their fathers.
Jer 16:16  “See, I am sending for many fishermen,” declares יהוה, “and they shall fish them. And after that I shall send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
Jer 16:17  “For My eyes are on all their ways; they have not been hidden from My face, nor has their crookedness been hidden from My eyes.
Jer 16:18  “And first I shall repay double for their crookedness and their sin, because they have defiled My land with the dead bodies of their disgusting matters, and have filled My inheritance with their abominations.”
Jer 16:19  O יהוה, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge, in the day of distress the gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Our fathers have inherited only falsehood, futility, and there is no value in them.”1 Footnote: 1See Ps. 147:19, Isa. 2:3, Isa. 60:2-3, John 4:22, Rom. 2:20, Rom. 3:2, Rom. 9:4.

Exo 6:28  And it came to be, on the day when יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the land of Mitsrayim,
Exo 6:29  that יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, “I am יהוה. Speak to Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim all that I say to you.”
Exo 6:30  And Mosheh said before יהוה, “See, I am of uncircumcised lips, and why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
Exo 7:1  So יהוה said to Mosheh, “See, I have made you an elohim1 to Pharaoh, and Aharon your brother is your prophet. Footnote: 1Or mighty one – see footnote at 4:16.
Exo 7:2  “You shall speak all that I command you, and Aharon your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, to let the children of Yisra’ĕl go out of his land.
Exo 7:3  “But I am going to harden the heart of Pharaoh, and shall increase My signs and My wonders in the land of Mitsrayim.
Exo 7:4  “And Pharaoh is not going to listen to you, and I shall lay My hand on Mitsrayim, and bring My divisions and My people, the children of Yisra’ĕl, out of the land of Mitsrayim by great judgments.
Exo 7:5  “And the Mitsrites shall know that I am יהוה, when I stretch out My hand on Mitsrayim. And I shall bring the children of Yisra’ĕl out from among them.”
Exo 7:6  And Mosheh and Aharon did as יהוה commanded them, so they did.
Exo 7:7  Now Mosheh was eighty years old and Aharon eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.
Exo 7:8  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, saying,
Exo 7:9  “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aharon, ‘Take your rod and throw it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ”
Exo 7:10  So Mosheh and Aharon went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as יהוה commanded. And Aharon threw his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Exo 7:11  But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the practisers of witchcraft. And they, the magicians of Mitsrayim, also did so with their magic.
Exo 7:12  And they, each one, threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But the rod of Aharon swallowed up their rods.
Exo 7:13  And Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as יהוה had said.
Exo 7:14  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “The heart of Pharaoh is hard, he refuses to let the people go.
Exo 7:15  “Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him. And take in your hand the rod which was turned into a serpent.
Exo 7:16  “And you shall say to him, ‘יהוה the Elohim of the Heḇrews has sent me to you, saying, “Let My people go, so that they serve Me in the wilderness,” but see, until now you have not listened!
Exo 7:17  ‘Thus said יהוה, “By this you know that I am יהוה. See, I am striking the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood,
Exo 7:18  and the fish in the river shall die. And the river shall stink, and the Mitsrites shall find it impossible to drink the water of the river.” ’ ”

When YHVH originally made man He made us perfectly without any flaw- free from all bondage. Now in these days and in the closing of this age we shall witness the perfection of His Creation coming into being. Let us trust Him to help us remain as clay in His Hands.
