Parashat 45 Portion 128 Dev/Deut 3:23-29 Yerm32:16-23 Yoh 5:28,29.



Joh 5:30  I can do nothing of My own self…..because I do not seek My own will, but the will of the Father who has sent Me.

These are the words of Messiah ….they should be our own words as well …..

What is YHVH’s perfect will?

Rom 12:2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim.

If we are going to find and walk in YHVH’s perfect will, we will have to break loose from all man-made religion (including all Christianity and Judaism) and all good ideas that come from men and woman.

One of the first and major deceptions we must free ourselves from is the self- deception of “Entitlement.”
Today there is this extremely dangerous belief that YHVH is obligated to hear us and do what we ask and expect of Him. In the coming days many believers will be devastated and even deny their faith when YHVH orders events and circumstances contrary to their expectations.

Deu 4:30  “In your distress, when all these words shall come upon you in the latter days, then you shall return to יהוה your Elohim and shall obey His voice.

The Good News is that a remnant will obey His Voice

The history of our redemption is a very sad history.

Jer 32:21  ‘And You have brought Your people Yisra’ĕl out of the land of Mitsrayim with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great fearsome deeds.
Jer 32:22  ‘And You gave them this land, of which You swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Jer 32:23  ‘And they came in and possessed it, but they did not obey Your voice nor did they walk in Your Torah. They did not do all that You commanded them to do, so You brought all this evil upon them.

Towards the end of his life Moshe writes these words before singing Yisrael’s Redemption Song – The Song of Moshe and the Song of the Lamb. – Rev 15:3.

Deu 31:26  “Take this Book of the Torah, and you shall place it beside the ark of the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, and it shall be there as a witness against you,
Deu 31:27  for I myself know your rebellion and your stiff neck. See, while I am still alive with you today, you have been rebellious against יהוה, then how much more after my death?
Deu 31:28  “Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, so that I speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth to witness against them.
Deu 31:29  “For I know that after my death you shall do very corruptly and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And evil shall come to you in the latter days, because you do what is evil in the eyes of יהוה, to provoke Him through the work of your hands.”
Deu 31:30  So Mosheh spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Yisra’ĕl the words of this song till their completion:

The Song of Moshe is a sad song – Dev 32…..

Deu 32:28  “For they are a nation lost to counsel, And there is no understanding in them.
Deu 32:29  “If they were wise, They would understand this, They would consider their latter end!
Deu 32:47  “For it is not a worthless Word for you, because it is your life, and by this Word you prolong your days on the soil which you pass over the Yardĕn to possess.”

When Moshe had finished this song, he went up mount Nebo and died.

Our Torah portion appropriately begins:

Deu 3:23  “And I pleaded with יהוה at that time, saying,

“And I pleaded” or “Va etchanan” is the name of this new Parashah.

כג  וָאֶתְחַנַּן, אֶל-יְהוָה, בָּעֵת הַהִוא, לֵאמֹר.

“chanan” in Hebrew means to be gracious or favourable. When this verb is used in the hitpael form it means to be gracious or favourable to yourself – or to plead for oneself. The implication is that you do not take anything for granted, you implore or plead because you know you are not entitled to simply name and claim YHVH’s favour.

Even Yahshua pleaded for YHVH’s favour so that he would not have to endure the agony of his execution. If Yahshua escaped the hour of his execution, salvation would never have come to this world.

Mat 26:39  And going forward a little, He fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I desire, but as You desire.”

If YHVH had granted Moshe’s and Yahshua’s request the Messiah’s redemptive work would not have been fully revealed to the world.

It would appear that when the Messiah is misrepresented in any way, we stand in danger of losing YHVH’s favour.

How did Moshe misrepresent Messiah?

He struck the rock twice instead of speaking to the rock – see Bamidbar/Num 20:8-12.

1Co 10:3  and all ate the same spiritual food, (Torah)
1Co 10:4  and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed, and the Rock was Messiah.
1Co 10:5  However, with most of them Elohim was not well pleased, for they were laid low in the wilderness.
1Co 10:6  And these became examples for us, so that we should not lust after evil, as those indeed lusted.
1Co 10:7  And do not become idolaters as some of them…

THIS SHOULD SERVE AS A SEVERELY IMPORTANT WARNING TO EVERYONE – IF WE ACCEPT OR PROMOTE A MISREPRESENTATION OF MESSIAH WE STAND IN DANGER OF LOSING OUR INHERITANCE. IF IT HAPPENED TO MOSHE IT CAN HAPPEN TO US. IT NEVER HAPPENED TO YASHUA.

Psa 2:12  Kiss the Son, lest He be enraged, And you perish in the way, For soon His wrath is to be kindled. Blessed are all those taking refuge in Him.


Deu 3:24  ‘O Master יהוה, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand, for who is a mighty one in the heavens or on earth who does according to Your works and according to Your might?

If it happened to Moshe it can happen to us – to an end time generation. He was denied entry into the Promised Land – see parable of the 10 virgins – Matt 25.

Deu 3:25  ‘I pray, let me pass over and see the good land beyond the Yardĕn, this good hill country, and Leḇanon.’

ה  אֶעְבְּרָה-נָּא, וְאֶרְאֶה אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה, אֲשֶׁר,
בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן:  הָהָר הַטּוֹב הַזֶּה, וְהַלְּבָנֹן.

Literal translation of vs 25 is as follows: “I will cross over (“na” - “I pray,” “now,” or “then”)
and I have seen (perfect tense) the good land which is across the Yarden, this the good mountain and the Levanon.” 

Rashi comments “the mountain” (ha har in Hebrew) refers to the temple mount in Yersushalayim. The Levanon too is an epithet for the set apart temple because Levanon comes from the word “lavan” which means white because it makes white or provides atonement.

Deu 3:26  “But יהוה was enraged with me, for your sake, and would not listen to me, and יהוה said to me, ‘Enough of that! Speak no more to Me about this matter.

Psa 106:32  And they provoked wrath at the waters of Meriḇah, And Mosheh suffered on account of them;
Psa 106:33  Because they embittered his spirit, And he spoke rashly with his lips.

Maybe this was a picture of Moshe taking upon himself the rebellion of Yisrael and Moshe maybe reasoned it would be better for Yisrael to suffer Moshe’s anger than YHVH’s wrath.
We see Yahshua taking upon himself our rebellion and YHVH’s wrath.

Deu 3:27  ‘Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and look with your eyes, for you do not pass over this Yardĕn.

North South East West.

In the ancient Hebrew words that are used to described distance and direction are also used to describe time.

If you wanted to start understanding the different directions and their implications, you needed to face the east. Then the east would be in front of you, west behind you, south to your right and north to your left.

The Hebrew word for “east” is “qedem” and literally means "the direction of the rising sun.” but the same Hebrew word is also the word used to describe the “past.”
” In the ancient Hebrew mind the past is in front of you while the future is behind you, the opposite way we think of the past and future. “Qedem” refers to the ancient paths of our fathers.

Jer 6:16  Thus said יהוה, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves. But they said, ‘We do not walk in it.’
Jer 6:17  “And I raised up watchmen over you, and said, ‘Listen to the sound of the ram’s horn!’ But they said, ‘We do not listen.’
Jer 6:18  “Therefore hear, you nations, and know, O congregation, what is upon them!
Jer 6:19  “Hear, O earth! See, I am bringing evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to My words, nor My Torah – and they rejected it.

The Torah teaches that when we walk in obedience to YHVH our futures(behind us) will be blessed. So we see the Hebraic mind is not looking forward to the future but looking to obey the ancient paths of the Torah. Then the future is taken care of.

East is associated with YHVH’s Esteem and Messiah.

Eze 43:1  And he led me to the gate, the gate facing east.
Eze 43:2  And see, the esteem of the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl came from the way of the east.
Eze 44:1  And He brought me back to the outer gate of the set-apart place which faces east, and it was shut.
Eze 44:2  And יהוה said to me, “This gate is shut, it is not opened, and no one enters it, because יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl has entered by it, and it shall be shut.
Eze 44:3  “The prince,(Messiah) as prince, he sits in it to eat bread before יהוה, coming in by way of the porch of the gate, and going out the same way.”


Zec 14:4  And in that day His feet(Messiah) shall stand upon the Mount of Olives, which faces Yerushalayim on the east.


Zec 9:9  “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Tsiyon! Shout, O daughter of Yerushalayim! See, your Sovereign(Messiah) is coming to you, He is righteous and endowed with deliverance, humble and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey1. Footnote: 1Mt. 21:5, John 12:15.

Yahshua entered Yerushalayin through the EAST gate from the Mount of Olives.

The Hebrew word for “West” is “yam” and can also mean “ocean” or “abundance.”

The Hebrew word for “south”  is “teyman” from the root “yaman” meaning "to the right". When facing east the south will be on our right hand side.  We see in Ber 12:9 the Hebrew word for “south” is “negba” where we get the word “Negev.” In other words we can assume that when come out of the wilderness we will have the emotional and spiritual strength to enter into our inheritance.

Before Yahshua began his ministry he went through a mikvah and went into the wilderness for 40 days – Matt 3&4.

In Hebrew the word for “north” is “tzphan” and can also mean a “hidden treasure.” North may be related to our left side or weaker side, perhaps because His strength is made perfect in our weakness –

2Co 12:9  And He said to me, “My favour is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, then, I shall rather boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Messiah rests on me.
2Co 12:10  Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for the sake of Messiah. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

In Yahshua are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Col 2:2  in order that their hearts might be encouraged, being knit together in love, and to all riches of the entire confirmation of understanding, to a true knowledge of the secret of Elohim, and of the Father, and of the Messiah,
Col 2:3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.1 Footnote: 1Isa. 11:2, Col. 2:9.

Heaven seems to be in the North.

Isa 14:13  “For you have said in your heart, ‘Let me go up to the heavens, let me raise my throne above the stars of Ěl, and let me sit in the mount of meeting on the sides of the north;

Mount Tzion is in the north.

Psa 48:1  Great is יהוה, and greatly to be praised In the city of our Elohim, His set-apart mountain.
Psa 48:2  Pretty on high, The joy of all the earth, Is Mount Tsiyon on the sides of the north, The city of the great Sovereign.

We see that as the four directions declare the esteem of our Messiah so do the four accounts of his life in the apostolic scriptures.

Yashua came in the fullness of the Torah and he is the wisdom of the Father from eternity past to eternity future.

Psa 40:7  Then I said, “See, I have come; In the scroll of the Book it is prescribed for me.
Psa 40:8  I have delighted to do Your pleasure, O my Elohim, And Your Torah is within my heart1.” Footnote: 1Ps. 37:31, Ps. 119:11, Isa. 51:7, Heb. 10:7-9.

The Hebrew word olam means in the far distance. When looking off in the far distance it is difficult to make out any details and what is beyond that horizon cannot be seen. This concept is the “olam”. The word “olam” is also used for time for the distant past or the distant future as a time that is difficult to know or perceive. This word is frequently translated as eternity or forever but in the English language it is misunderstood to mean a continual span of time that never ends. In the Hebrew mind it is simply what is at or beyond the horizon, a very distant time. A common phrase in the Hebrew is "l'olam va'ed" and is usually translated as "forever and ever" but in the Hebrew it means "to the distant horizon and again" meaning "a very distant time and even further" and is used to express the idea of a very ancient or future time. 

Deu 3:28  ‘But charge Yehoshua, and strengthen him and make him brave, for he shall pass over before this people and causes them to inherit the land which you see.’
Deu 3:29  “And we dwelt in the valley opposite Bĕyth Peʽor.
