Parashat 1 – Portion 2 – Beresheet – In the Beginning.

Beresheet/Genesis 2:4-3:24

Our congregation has decided to follow the Triennial Torah Cycle (three year cycle of Torah study). Note: If you who are reading this Blog prefers to follow the one year Torah cycle then you can find notes for the one year cycle in the Archives of this Blog).

Below is a brief description of the triennial cycle.
“The Triennial cycle of Torah reading may refer to the historical practice in ancient Israel by which the entire Torah was read in serial fashion over a three year period, or to the practice adopted by many congregations in which the traditional weekly Torah portions were divided into thirds, and in which one third of each weekly “parasha” of the annual system is read during the appropriate week of the calendar.
According to the Jewish Encyclopedia, the triennial cycle "was the practice in Palestine, whereas in Babylonia the entire Pentateuch was read in the synagogue in the course of a single year," As late as 1170 Benjamin of Tudela mentioned Egyptians congregations that took three years to read the Torah”. Blessing for the Torah:

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-O’lam, asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim,
v’natan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”
(Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim , King of the Universe,
you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.
Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

This week we will concentrate on “Aliyah Reviee” (2:4-3:21). The truth found in this section is foundational for us to begin to understand the reason why we exist and what our purpose is on this earth.

Beresheet/Gen 2:4  These are the births (“ele toldot”) of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that יהוה Elohim made earth and heavens.

“Ele toldot” could be paraphrased: “this is what became of the heavens and the earth”

“what follows is not another account of creation but a tracing of events from creation through the fall and judgment (the section extends from 2:4 through 4:26 ).”

https://net.bible.org/#!bible/Genesis+2:4

It is critical that we see a distinction between the events of the previous chapter and the events of this chapter. We can compare this to the lighting of the two Shabbat candles every “Erev” Shabbat –one for creation (YHVH our Father is the Creator) and one for salvation (Yahshua, the light of the world).
The study we are doing this week gives us insight into YHVH’s redemptive plan for our lives.

We see some vital clues that help us to understand this. First of all verse 4 contains a “yut or tittel” in the word “created” in Hebrew “behiberam” the “hey” in this word is diminished.
This verb appears in the “hiphyl” form which describes an action that was caused to come upon an object. In other words this creation comes upon vessels that are yielded to the Master Potter.
We see here in this verse the word “Yahveh” (yud, hey, vav, hey- transliterated as YHVH) used the very first time as well. The name of Yahveh is similar to the hiphyl  imperfect verb – which means “he will cause to exist” The root word here is “havah” – yud, vav, hey – If you conjugate this verb to the masculine third person imperfect, you get the same spelling as the name of YHVH -  in verb charts that could be pronounced “Yahoveh.” I understand that there is much debate and controversy over this issue, I offer you one possible explanation for the origin of the name of YHVH.

If you cause something to be created, you cause something to come into existence that previously did not exist.

The diminished “hey” could possibly refer to a state of perfection that YHVH will cause to exist in those who allow Him to mold and fashion their lives into the image of Yahshua.

The diminished “hey” could possibly refer to a “lesser” kind of life compared to the life we would one day receive on the “Eighth Day” which is called “Shemini Atzaret in Hebrew”, the last Appointment/Feast after the seven days of Sukkot.

Rom 8:29  Because those whom He knew beforehand, He also ordained beforehand to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, for Him to be the first-born among many brothers.

We must assume that in this world perfection will not be reached and we anticipate with frustration a perfect future.

Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the esteem that is to be revealed in us.
Rom 8:19  For the intense longing1 of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of Elohim. Footnote: 1Lit. anxiously looking with outstretched head.
Rom 8:20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not from choice, but because of Him who subjected it, in anticipation,
Rom 8:21  that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage to corruption into the esteemed freedom of the children of Elohim.
Rom 8:22  For we know that all the creation groans together, and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

Note also how the order of heaven and earth is changed in verse 4 -

Gen 2:4  These are the births (ele toldot) of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that יהוה Elohim made earth and heavens.

The order of creation is a perfection that starts from heaven to earth and then from earth back to a new heaven and a new earth to reach complete perfection.

The use of the causative verbs implies that we have a choice to yield to His Creative purposes.

Parashat 1 – Portion 1 –Beresheet - In the Beginning …

Beresheet/Genesis 1:1-2:3

Our congregation has decided to follow the Triennial Torah Cycle (three year cycle of Torah study). Note: If you who are reading this Blog prefers to follow the one year Torah cycle then you can find notes for the one year cycle in the Archives of this Blog).
Below is a brief description of the triennial cycle.

Ameyn.)

With its opening statement, the Torah is establishing that it is not merely a rulebook, a list of things to do or not to do. It is YHVH's blueprint for creation, our guide for realizing the purpose for which everything in heaven and earth was made. Every creature, object and element, every force, phenomenon and potential, every moment of time, was created by YHVH toward a purpose. Our mission in life is to discover and become one with His purpose.

Only in Messiah Yashua can we begin to understand the purposes of YHVH.

Col 1:16  Because in Him(not “by him”) were created all that are in the heavens and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or rulerships or principalities or authorities – all have been created through Him and for Him.
Col 1:17  And He is before all, and in Him all hold together.
Col 1:18  And He is the Head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that He might become the One who is first in all.
Col 1:19  Because in Him all the completeness was well pleased to dwell,
Col 1:20  and through Him to completely restore to favour all unto Himself, whether on earth or in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of His stake.

Sidra (teaching)

Beresheet/Gen 1:1  In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.

Vs 1“Bereshit bara Elohim et ha-shamayim v’et ha-aretz …”
The Torah begins with a preposition “b” in Hebrew can mean “in, with or on”

It would appear that the very first thing that YHVH creates is time. We understand that the only measured time we have any knowledge of is a 7000 year period of time – from the birth of Adam to the second return of Messiah. Outside of this 7000 year period we believe we have eternity past and eternity future and there is no physical measurement for this time.

“Time was the first creation; thus the first mitzvah is kiddush hachodesh--the setting apart of time by setting the months and seasons of the Hebrew calendar (The Lubavitcher Rebbe).”
Eph 5:15  See then that you walk exactly, not as unwise, but as wise,
Eph 5:16  redeeming the time, because the days are wicked.
Eph 5:17  So then do not be foolish, but understand what the desire of יהוה is.

What is the desire of YHVH?

I believe the first letter of the Torah gives us a clue to this question. The first letter “beit” is enlarged and it demands our special attention (yut or tittel). This letter can also mean “house” in Hebrew.  The first letter of the last word in the Torah is “Iamed.” Combined in Hebrew these two letters “lamed and beit” give us the word “heart”.  The last word in the Torah is “Yisrael” – is it not possible that we can assume that the heart of the Torah is a dwelling place for Yisrael where YHVH Himself desires to dwell?

We go on to see in the account of creation that everything YHVH creates, He fills with life.
First verse in Beresheet has 7 words and the fourth word and the sixth word contain the letters “aleph and tav” which  some commentators believe refer to Yahshua – aleph and tav – and his appearing at the end of the fourth and sixth millennium.

According to Panim the very first verse of the scriptures "In the begining Elohim created the heavens  and the earth" (Ber 1:1), contains over 30 different combinations of seven.
This verse has seven Hebrew words having a total of 28 letters 4 x 7. The numeric value of the three nouns "Elohim", "heaven" and "earth" totals 777. Any number in triplicate expresses complete, ultimate or total meaning.

The very first letter “beit” is an enlarged letter (yut and tittel – because it is out of the ordinary to suddenly have an enlarged Hebrew letter). We believe this enlarged Beit is a reference to the Messiah who himself would embody all the revelation of YHVH.

In the Zohar (mystical writings of the Yahudim)  the Aramaic meaning of the word “beresheet”, means “son” (“bara”) and “prepared“ (“sheet”)  – “a son is prepared”. (I have not been able to prove this)

Dr. Chacham Dan A. Hayyim writes: “The rabbis of earlier generations saw Mashiach as the very reason for the creation of the heavens and the earth. ‘Everything was created for his sake.’ The primary light, which is revealed in Beresheet, before the sun and stars were created, was considered as Mashiach’s light
I believe it is clear from this scripture that everything YHVH created was intended to be filled with Messianic life. We were meant to be infused with this Messianic life and thus reveal the light of YHVH’s perfect wisdom and desire to be joined together with His creation for ever and ever. There is therefore a higher purpose for His creation: it is so we can enter into an everlasting covenant of friendship with our Creator.

Gen 1:2  And the earth came to be1 formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters. Footnote: 1Or the earth became.

We are not sure why the earth became “tahoo vavohu” or chaotic and vacant. No one really knows why. Some speculate that this is when Satan rebelled against YHVH and was cast out of heaven with one third of the messengers.

“and darkness was over the face of the submerged chaos. Yet the Ruach/Spirit of Elohim is vibrating over the face of the waters”.

Maybe haSatan tried to destroy the one place YHVH had chosen to enter into a covenant with man.
I believe YHVH is telling us that no matter how dark the darkness may become, His light will always “hover” over such darkness and create perfection and beauty.

I believe that our shalom(completeness) and very existence is established on this fact – that darkness will NEVER prevail … and so He says “light be”….

Gen 1:3  And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be.

One of the first acts we see YHVH doing is SEPERATING. He makes a distinction between light and dark.
When we have a “havdalah” service at the end of Shabbat going over into the First day of the new week, the word “havdalah” is derived from the Hebrew word “badal” or “separate.” We see from the very beginning that YHVH separates things which are essentially different. YHVH is an Elohim of distinction and those who desire to please Him will also need to make distinctions – to separate those things that are pleasing to Him and those that are less pleasing.

Whatever YHVH creates He fills. He creates the heavens and fills them with sun moon and stars. He creates the water masses and fills them with marine life. He creates the skies and fills them with birds. He creates the dry land and fills it with animals and man to rule over it.
This should remind us that YHVH’s Ruach will only dwell in whatever He has initiated and created. Man often creates and initiates and expects YHVH to bless these efforts which have not been inspired by Him.
Man creates ideas and doctrines about truth which YHVH has not created and man then serves and attaches himself completely to what has come from his own understanding and not from YHVH’s Ruach.

Yirmeyahu/Jer 5:30 -31 “An astounding and horrible matter has come to be in the land:
The prophets have prophesied falsely1, and the priests rule by their own hand, and My people have loved it so.2 And what are you going to do at the end of it? Footnotes: 1See 27:14,15. 2Isa. 30:10, 2 Tim. 4:3.

Rom 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of Elohim, these are sons of Elohim.

Gen 1:4  And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5  And Elohim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the first day.
Gen 1:6  And Elohim said, “Let an expanse come to be in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
Gen 1:7  And Elohim made the expanse, and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it came to be so.
Gen 1:8  And Elohim called the expanse ‘heavens.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the second day.
Gen 1:9  And Elohim said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it came to be so.

Gen 1:10  And Elohim called the dry land ‘earth,’ and the collection of the waters He called ‘seas.’ And Elohim saw that it was good.
Gen 1:11  And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the plant that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth.” And it came to be so.
Gen 1:12  And the earth brought forth grass, the plant that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.
Gen 1:13  And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the third day.

“good” is used twice in the third day of creation. Here we find plants that yield seeds, we find on the third day a special kind of life introduced to YHVH’s creation.
The third day reminds us of many other “thirds” in scripture.

*Yahshua rose from the dead on the third day.
* Yahshua will return to earth to rule for one thousand years in the third millennium since his birth (He was born in the fourth millennieum).
*Yahshua’s miracle ministry began on the third day at a wedding (Yahuchanan/Joh2:1). The third day of the week is a preferred day of marriage for some Hebrews.

There can be no life unless there is death.

Yahuchanan/Joh 12:24  “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
Joh 12:25  “He who loves his life shall lose it, and he who hates his life in this world shall preserve it for everlasting life.
Joh 12:26  “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me. And where I am, there My servant also shall be. If anyone serves Me, the Father shall value him.

The very foundation of Messianic life is established in these first few verses in Beresheet. There is no other way, the pattern given to us is very clear, there was first deep darkness over the earth before life began to come forth. So it is with us, unless we die to ourselves and take up our execution stakes daily we have no part of this Messianic life. It has never been any other way and it will never be any other way.

Gen 1:14  And Elohim said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years,

The Appointments of YHVH (Vayiqra/Lev 23) were appointed so that we may identify and walk in the light of our Messianic Redemption.

Gen 1:15  and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth.” And it came to be so.
Gen 1:16  And Elohim made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars.
Gen 1:17  And Elohim set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,
Gen 1:18  and to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And Elohim saw that it was good.
Gen 1:19  And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fourth day.
Gen 1:20  And Elohim said, “Let the waters teem with shoals of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens.”
Gen 1:21  And Elohim created great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters teemed, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.
Gen 1:22  And Elohim blessed them, saying, “Bear fruit and increase, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”
Gen 1:23  And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the fifth day.
Gen 1:24  And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: livestock and creeping creatures and beasts of the earth, according to its kind.” And it came to be so.
Gen 1:25  And Elohim made the beast of the earth according to its kind, livestock according to its kind, and all that creep on the earth according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

Gen 1:26  And Elohim said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the livestock, and over all the earth and over all the creeping creatures that creep on the earth.”
Gen 1:27  And Elohim created the man in His image, in the image of Elohim He created him – male and female He created them.

This text has and still creates all kinds of problems for Jew and Gentile. The Jews believe that there was some kind of eternal counsel that co- existed with YHVH. The Gentiles believers believe it is evidence of the Trinity.
My own conviction is that the “Oneness” of YHVH remains the one supreme foundation of all spiritual revelation. YHVH did not need any help from anyone to create anything. I believe YHVH intended from the very beginning that He would be willing to partner with mankind in such a way that they together would become joint creators of life and blessing. I believe we see evidence of this in the fact that mankind is able to reproduce likenesses of himself – likenesses who too are made in the very image of YHVH. In fact I believe that after the millennial reign of Messiah, we will come into a perfect oneness with YHVH and in so doing will fill every corner of the unending universe with His perfect life.
Therefore I believe vs 26 can also be understood as YHVH’s plan to include mankind in His creation of perfection.

Yahuchanan Aleph/1Jn 3:1  See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of Elohim! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
1Jn 3:2  Beloved ones, now we are children of Elohim. And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
1Jn 3:3  And everyone having this expectation in Him cleanses himself, as He is clean.

Yeshayahu/Isa 44:24  Thus said יהוה, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb, “I am יהוה, doing all, stretching out the heavens all alone, spreading out the earth, with none beside Me,  (Ps 8 and 147 – He makes the stars with His fingers and appoints each one a name)

Isa 43:10 “You are My witnesses,” declares יהוה, “And My servant whom I have chosen , so that you know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no Ěl formed, nor after Me there is none.
Isa 43:11 “I, I am יהוה, and besides Me there is no saviour. (Moshia or one saving)
Gen 1:28  And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said to them, “Bear fruit and increase, and fill the earth and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over all creatures moving on the earth.”
Gen 1:29  And Elohim said, “See, I have given you every plant that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it is for food.
Gen 1:30  “And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to every creeping creature on the earth, in which there is life, every green plant is for food.” And it came to be so.
Gen 1:31  And Elohim saw all that He had made, and see, it was very good. And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the sixth day.

Gen 2:1  Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their array.
Gen 2:2  And on the seventh day Elohim completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.
Gen 2:3  And Elohim blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on it He rested from all His work which Elohim in creating had made.

Only through the favourable revelation of YHVH is Shabbat/Sabbath known. Shabbat was made for those who truly desire to enter into a deeper revelation and intimacy of YHVH.

What does the Shabbat teach us?; That there is a rest for those who have been called according to His redemptive purpose. When we come into harmony with the Shabbat of YHVH we come into harmony with His redemptive plan for mankind. The Shabbat reminds us that in all our strivings and efforts we cannot secure ourselves rest and deliverance. Only in Messiah will we ever be able to find rest and deliverance for our beings/souls. The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Shabbat/Sabbath (Mark 2:27) so that we would forever be reminded of His love for us. In fact it is the sign of our marriage covenant with Messiah.
Shemot/Exo 31:13  “And you, speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘My Sabbaths you are to guard, by all means, for it is a sign1 between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that I, יהוה, am setting you apart. Footnote: 1The only sign of יהוה setting us apart, the only sign of the everlasting covenant, is His Sabbaths, one of them being the seventh day Sabbath. This is repeated in Ezek. 20:12 & 20.

If the history of the earth (the seven thousand year salvation plan of YHVH) is patterned after the seven day week then the six days of a week is symbolic of the first six thousand years on this earth and the seventh day (the Shabbat) is symbolic of the Millenial reign of Yahshua from Yerushalayim. The Eighth day will then again be a First day, but this time this Eighth Day will be a brand new beginning – renewed heaven and earth and renewed Yerushalayim (Rev 21 and 22). In fact, the last Torah commanded Festival that we have just observed in this recent week after the seven days of Sukkot, called the Eighth day Assembly (Shemeni Atzeret) will then be symbolic of the Olam haBa, the New World to come when YHVH Himself will dwell with us forever. (Rev 21-22- also see 1Co 15:23-24  And each in his own order: Messiah the first-fruits, then those who are of Messiah at His coming, then the end, when He delivers up the reign to Elohim the Father, when He has brought to naught all rule and all authority and power.

Isa 46:10  declaring the end from the beginning, and from of old that which has not yet been done, saying, ‘My counsel does stand, and all My delight I do,’

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam,asher natan lanu Toraht-emet,
v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu.
Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe,
you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst.
Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

Parashat 54 “v zot ha bracha” – “This is the blessing”

Dev/Deu  33:1 – 34:12

Many today proclaim to know the Messiah, but do they really know the real Messiah?

1 Enoch 62:7 "From the beginning the Son of Man was hidden, and the Most High has preserved him in the presence of His might, and revealed him to the elect."

We see from the very opening verses of this parashah a host of hidden references to the Messiah. We are living in a time when the Ruach/Spirit of YHVH is once again pouring out a powerful and renewed revelation of His Son. Yahshua the Nazarene has been given all authority in heaven and earth to carry out all the purpose and desires of his Father and he is calling all those who will willingly lay aside their own agendas to receive and follow the King of all kings – Yahshua ha Mashiach.
Babylonian Talmud, Pes. 54a; B. Ned. 39a – “It was taught: Seven things were created before the world was created, and these are they: the Torah, Repentance, the Garden of Eden, Gehenna, the Throne of Esteem, the Temple, and the name of the Messiah... The name of the Messiah, as it is said: May his name endure forever, may his name blossom before the sun (Psa. 72:17).”

The Book of Enoch Chapter 46:1-2 states: [1] There I beheld the Ancient of days whose head was like white wool, and with him another, whose countenance resembled that of a man. His countenance was full of favour, like that of one of the set apart messengers. Then I inquired of one of the messengers, who went with me, and who showed me every secret thing, concerning this Son of man; who he was; whence he was; and why he accompanied the Ancient of days. [2] He answered and said to me, This is the Son of man, to whom righteousness belongs; with whom righteousness has dwelt; and who will reveal all the treasures of that which is concealed: for the Master of spirits has chosen him; and his portion has surpassed all before the Master of spirits in everlasting uprightness."
"The Book of Enoch remained in darkness until 1821, when the long years of dedicated work by a professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford were finally rewarded with the publication of the first ever English translation of the Book of Enoch. The Reverend Richard Laurence, Archbishop of Cashel, had laboured for many hundreds of hours over the faded manuscript in the hands of the Bodleian Library, carefully substituting English words and expressions for the original Geez, while comparing the results with known extracts, such as the few brief chapters preserved in Greek by Syncellus during the ninth century."

- Andrew Collins, From the Ashes of Angels - The Forbidden Legacy of a Fallen Race (1996) p. 21

Jude 1:14  And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold,  YHVH cometh with ten thousands of his Set apart ones. (Quote from the book of Enoch also found in the opening verses of this week’s parashah)

Deu 33:2  And he said, “יהוה came from Sinai, and rose from Sĕ’ir for them. He shone forth from Mount Paran, and came with ten thousands of set-apart ones – at His right hand a law of fire for them.

Psa 96:13  At the presence of יהוה. For He shall come, For He shall come to judge the earth. He judges the world in righteousness1, And the peoples with His truth. Footnote: 1See also 98:9, Acts 17:31, Rev. 19:11.

1 Enoch 1:1-2.91

“The words of the blessing with which Enoch blessed the righteous chosen who will be present on the day of tribulation, to remove all the enemies; and the righteous will be saved. And he took up his discourse and said, Enoch, a righteous man whose eyes were opened by YHVH, who had the vision of the Set Apart One and of heaven, which he showed me…Behold, he comes with the myriads of his set apart ones, to execute judgment on all, and to destroy all the wicked, and to convict all flesh for all the wicked deeds that they have done, and the proud and hard words that wicked sinners spoke against him”.

“That YHVH comes with myriads of Set apart ones derives from  Deut 33:2...The universality of this judgment, indicated already in [1 Enoch] 1:7, is emphasized here by the fourfold repetition of ‘all.’…the language here should be read in light of three related TeNaCH ( OT) texts. The first is Genesis 6-9, which repeatedly speaks of the corruption of all flesh and of the judgment that falls on all flesh except for a very small remnant [Gen 6:12,13,17,19; 7:15,21; 8:17; 9:11,15,17]....Two other TeNaCH (OT) passages (Jer 25:30-32; Isa 66:15-16) may have influenced the wording of 1 Enoch 1:3c-5.9" G. Nickelsburg, I Enoch 1 (Fortress Press 2001),149".

Aliyah Rishon 33:1-7

Deu 33:1  And this is the blessing with which Mosheh the man of Elohim blessed the children of Yisra’ĕl before his death.

“Ve zot ha bracha” means “And this is the blessing” Once again the title of the parashah sums up the essence of what is being said. However as this is the last parashah, it also sums up the entire Torah as THE blessing. Some of the sages believe these opening  words refer to the Messiah the greatest blessing of all given to us by the Father. “Zot” means THIS and “ha bracha” means THE BLESSING.

Deu 33:2  And he said, “יהוה came from Sinai, and rose from Sĕ’ir for them. He shone forth from Mount Paran, and came with ten thousands of set-apart ones – at His right hand a law of fire for them.

We know that this is not YHVH Himself but One who has the fullness of YHVH dwelling in him – Yahshua ha Mashiach.  YHVH will be united to His set apart ones after the millennial kingdom reign of Messiah.

Col 2:9  Because in Him dwells all the completeness of the Mightiness bodily,
Col 2:10  and you have been made complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and authority.

Yahshua is the fullness of YHVH that comes from Sinai – The perfect Torah in the flesh of the second Adam. Many believe that the same Torah that Moshe received from Sinai will be the same Torah Yahshua proclaims from Yerushalayim.

and rose from Sĕ’ir for them” (verse 2a)

We trace the origins of Esav (Esau) to Seir (hairy or shaggy). This was in the area of Edom which is another word for Rome. Rome is another word  for the Christian religion under the Roman Kingdom. And it says, “from Seir,” or from the Christian faith the Messiah will come. Rabbi Pearlmutter believes that the Messiah has been held in bondage by Christian religion and in the last days Messiah will be revealed as he truly is – a Jewish Torah observant rabbi.

He shone forth from Mount Paran, and came with ten thousands of set-apart ones” (verse 2b)

This could be a possible reference to those set apart ones who have made it through the great tribulation waiting for Messiah to come and receive them. These have fled from “Seir” to “Paran” a possibly  reference to modern day “Petra”

Eusebius a well- known historian makes the following comment:

“….. as the Romans approached the city, "The people belonging to the Messianic assembly at Jerusalem had
been ordered by an oracle revealed to approved men on the spot before the war broke out, to leave the city and dwell in a town of Peraea called Pella" (EH III:5). The destruction of the city, Eusebius says, came only after the Jerusalem believers had made their escape.”
This event refers to the destruction of the second temple (70ce). Many of the Messianic believers were apparently led by the Ruach to leave the city before it was destroyed by the Romans. Many of these believers made their way to “Petra”. This event caused resentment amongst the non -messianic Jews who felt they had been betrayed and left to fend for themselves against the Romans.
Will there be another exodus to Petra in the last days????
“Paran” means “ place of caverns” this describes what modern day Petra looks like.
There is another view on this verse:

He shone forth from Mount Paran, and came with ten thousands of set-apart ones” (verse 2b)
Paran is the known by Muslims as the birth place of Mohammed and Islam.

The Muslims believe this scripture in vs 2 speaks of their prophet and according to them “It is Muhammad who led thousands, bearing a fiery law, from Paran.” Paran is part of Arabia. Muhammad is said to have led ten thousand of his followers from Medina to Mecca.” Leading with the 'fiery law', the Quran.”

at His right hand a law of fire for them” (verse 2c)

“at His right hand” could once again be a reference to Messiah who is seated at the right hand of the throne of His Father” and the fiery law could possibly be a reference of how the Torah will bring judgment and a final destruction to the spirit of Islam.

Deu 33:3  Indeed, He loves the peoples,(nations) all His set-apart ones are in Your hand. And they, they sat down at Your feet, receiving Your Words.

Messiah loves all those who from the nations have been grafted into the olive tree of Yisrael. These are the ones who have been given to Messiah in marriage – in his hand – and will sit at his feet to honour him and cherish every word that comes from his mouth.

Yeshayahu/Isa 2:2  And it shall be in the latter days that the mountain of the House of יהוה is established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills. And all nations shall flow to it.
Isa 2:3  And many peoples shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the House
of the Elohim of Ya’akov, and let Him teach [1]us His ways [1], and let us walk in His paths [1], for out of Tsiyon comes forth the Torah [1], and the Word [1] of יהוה from Yerushalayim.” Footnote:  [1] His ways, His paths, the teaching and the Word of יהוה are used synonymously.

Deu 33:4  Mosheh commanded us a Torah, an inheritance of the assembly (kehelah) of Ya’akov.

Deu 33:5  And He was Sovereign (King) in Yeshurun, when the heads of the people were gathered, the tribes of Yisra’ĕl.

Again this is a reference to the king Messiah returning when the fullness of the gentiles has come in and these nations are under the rule of the tribal heads of the resurrected sons of Ya’akov.

Rom 11:25  For I do not wish you to be ignorant of this secret, brothers, lest you should be wise in your own estimation, that hardening in part has come over Yisra’ĕl, until the completeness of the gentiles [1] has come in. Footnote:  [1]Gen. 48:19.

Personal Prophecy:

I believe those who are responding to the call of YHVH to be part of an end time restoration of all things need to be aware of three demonic spiritual forces that will come against them in these last days. These forces if not resisted can hinder you from the high calling and reward of your inheritance in the set apart ones.

The first demonic force comes from the “Christian church” who has successfully introduced pagan mixture into this restoration movement. This pagan mixture includes the introduction of alternative festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Sunday - worship as well as false doctrines such as replacement theology and the Trinitarian heresy.

The second demonic force comes from “Judaism” This religion propagates an ethnic superiority over other nations and a fierce rejection (sinat chinam) towards those who come to recognize Yahshua as the promised Jewish Messiah. Many in this religion claim an ownership over the Torah and Messiah that excludes others who have come to the revelation of the truth of the Messiah in the Torah.

The third demonic force is an anti Semetic spirit that infects many in our times. This evil spirit basically denies the Jewish people of their Elohim calling and right to occupy a unique place of leadership in this world and in the world to come. (Rom 11:29 clearly teaches that the gifts and calling of YHVH are irrevocable)

PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT DEMONIZING CHRISTIANS JEWS OR MESSIANICS. I AM STATING THAT THESE MOVEMENTS ARE INFLUENCED BY THESE DEMONIC STRONGHOLDS. THE EVIDENCE ABOUNDS.

Yochanan aleph/1Jn 4:1  Beloved ones, do not believe every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of Elohim, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (This means you test my spirit as well)
1Jn 4:2  By this you know the Spirit of Elohim: Every spirit that confesses that יהושע Messiah has come in the flesh is of Elohim, (this  confession rejects the idea that Messiah was an eternal pre- existent being equal to YHVH)
1Jn 4:3  and every spirit that does not confess that יהושע Messiah has come in the flesh is not of Elohim. And this is the spirit of the anti-messiah which you heard is coming, and now is already in the world.

We now come to a very important section of the last Torah portion – the destiny and inheritance of the 12 tribes of Yisrael. Once again it is important to recognize that this is one of the causes of Yahshua’s intercession for them for the past 2000 years.

Ivrim/Heb 7:25  Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to Elohim through Him, ever living to make intercession for them.

Dev/Deu 33:6  “Let Re’uḇĕn live, and not die, and let his men be numbered.”

The Torah is very specific about honouring the first born, even though Reuven did not receive the rulership, he was honoured for being the first born. In doing this a foundation of respect is established for the rest of the blessings to come upon the other tribes of Yisrael.

Deu 33:7  And this of Yehuḏah, and he said, “Hear, יהוה, the voice of Yehuḏah, and bring him to his people. His hands shall fight for him, and You be a help against his enemies.”

We live in a time when we will possibly witness a great conflict in the world, where nation shall rise up against Israel and be thoroughly defeated by Israel. The prophets however warn that there will be a great loss of life in Israel – Zecheriah 13:8,9.

Then in the last days the rider on the white horse will come and bring complete destruction on all of Yisrael's enemies – see Revelation 19.

Yehudah has been given the position of rulership over the tribes, because YHVH has determined it to be this way. This rulership is only effective for those in Yehudah (Yuhadim/Jews) who embrace YHVH’s Torah and the anointed Moshiach – Yahshua the King of Kings who comes from the tribe of Yehudah. Those from this tribe (Yuhadim/Jews) have always been hated and persecuted because of their position and calling by YHVH. Ha satan would love to steal this position but was defeated by the conquering Jewish Messiah. (Rom 11:29)

Aliyah Sheni 33:8-12

Deu 33:8  And of Lĕwi he said, “Your Tummim and Your Urim belong to Your kind one, whom You tried at Massah, with whom You contended at the waters of Meriḇah,

Tummim and Urim refer to the perfect light that comes from Messiah. This revelation of Messiah always comes at a price – opposition from others, sometimes even your brothers.

Despite difficulties and the rebellion of YHVH’s people – Levi has persevered to bring Torah to YHVH’s people in such a way as to “join” them to YHVH.

Deu 33:9  who said of his father and mother, ‘I have not seen them.’ And he did not acknowledge his brothers, or know his own children, for they have guarded Your Word and watched over Your covenant.
