Parashat 54 Portion 151 Dev/Deut 34:1-12 Ber/Gen 1:1 Yesh/Is 2:1-4 1 Pet 1:22-25.

Heb 11:24  By belief(Gk dative noun – by means of faith..), Mosheh, having become great, refused to be called the son of the daughter of Pharaoh,

Heb 11:25  choosing rather to be afflicted with the people of Elohim than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time,

Heb 11:26  deeming the reproach of Messiah greater riches than the treasures in Mitsrayim, for he was looking to the reward.

Moshe had a deep Messianic insight. He knew that his life and calling would be a foreshadow of the One to come – Yashua Messiah.

Yahshua(post resurrection) has a surprise encounter with two believers on their way to Emaus. They did  not recognize Yahshua. Their hearts burned within them as they heard Yahshua explain the Messiah from the scriptures to them.

Luk 24:27  And beginning at Mosheh and all the Prophets, He was explaining to them in all the Scriptures the matters concerning Himself.

This remains the challenge for genuine truth seekers today – to properly and thoroughly explain Yahshua from  Bereshiet to the book of Revelation in such a way that people are awed and drawn to the person of Messiah.

2Co 3:6 (Yahveh)… who also made us competent as servants of a renewed covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit, for the letter kills but the Spirit gives life.

Joh 14:6  יהושע said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Joh 14:15  “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.¹ Footnote: ¹See Ex. 20:6, vv. 21&23, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John v. 6.

Torah Portion:

Deu 34:1  And Mosheh went up from the desert plains of Mo’aḇ to Mount Neḇo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Yeriḥo. And יהוה showed him all the land of Gilʽaḏ as far as Dan,

2 maccabees 2:4-2:7

4 It was also in the same document that the prophet, having received an oracle, ordered that the tent and the ark should follow with him, and that he went out to the mountain where Moses had gone up and had seen the inheritance of YHVH. ⁵Jeremiah came and found a cave-dwelling, and he brought there the tent and the ark and the altar of incense; then he sealed up the entrance. ⁶Some of those who followed him came up intending to mark the way, but could not find it. ⁷When Jeremiah learned of it, he rebuked them and declared: ‘The place shall remain unknown until YHVH gathers his people together again and shows his mercy.

“Gilead, meaning rugged, was a highland region east of The Jordan River, extending approximately from the southern end of The Sea Of Galilee to the northern end of The Salt Sea, with the Jabbok River roughly marking its mid-point. From its mountains it was known as "the mount, or hill country, of Gilead" (Genesis 31:25), but was also called "the land of Gilead" (Numbers 32:1), or simply "Gilead" (Genesis 37:25). After the YHVH-commanded possession and division of the Promised Land among The Tribes Of Israel, it was held by Gad, Reuben and part of Manasseh (Deuteronomy 3:13-15, Numbers 32:40) - a territory today outside of Israel's national borders, occupied by the Kingdom of Jordan for now.”

     Deu 34:2  and all Naphtali and the land of Ephrayim and Menashsheh, all the land of Yehuḏah as far as the Western Sea,

     Deu 34:3  and the Negeḇ, and the plain of the Valley of Yeriḥo, the city of palm trees, as far as Tsoʽar.

      Deu 34:4  And יהוה said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Yaʽaqoḇ, saying, ‘To your seed I give it.’ I have let you look at it with your eyes, but you do not pass over there.”

     Comment.

       If one has a look at a map of Israel and the division of the tribes – it is physically impossible to see as far as Moshe saw.

     We assume YHVH grants Moshe a prophetic vision of all the land (Nebo means prophet)

        In reality Moshe most probably sees and experiences more about Israel’s present and future destiny than what the Israelites saw and experienced in their entire life time who returned physically to Israel.

     YHVH grants Moshe a future redemptive vision of the land.

     As Moshe surveyed the land present and future he may even have received a glimpse of where he and Eliyahu would one day meet face to face with the Messiah.

Mat 17:1  And after six days יהושע took Kĕpha, and Yaʽaqoḇ, and Yoḥanan his brother, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves, (see also Mark 14:33 – Garden Gethemane)

Mat 17:2  and He was transformed before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as the light.

Mat 17:3  And see, Mosheh and Ěliyahu appeared to them, talking with Him.

Mat 17:4  And Kĕpha answering, said to יהושע, “Master, it is good for us to be here. If You wish, let us make here three booths: one for You, one for Mosheh, and one for Ěliyahu.”¹ Footnote:¹Mark 9:4.

Mat 17:5  While he was still speaking, see, a bright cloud overshadowed them. And see, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I did delight. Hear Him!”

Mat 17:6  And when the taught ones heard, they fell on their faces and were much afraid.

Mat 17:7  But יהושע came near and touched them and said, “Rise, and do not be afraid.”

Mat 17:8  And having lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but יהושע only.

Mat 17:11  And יהושע answering, said to them, “Ěliyahu is indeed coming first, and shall restore all matters.¹ Footnote:¹See Mark 9:12 and Acts 3:21.

Same Greek word for restore used in - Act 3:20  and that He sends יהושע Messiah, pre-appointed for you,

Act 3:21  whom heaven needs to receive until the times of restoration of all matters, of which Elohim spoke through the mouth of all His set-apart prophets since of old.

Maybe believers are going to have to “reconstitute” their ideas about Yahshua’s return. Yahshua is not coming back until at least a remnant are “reconstituted” according to The Constitution – The Torah.

Mal 4:1  “For look, the day shall come, burning like a furnace, and all the proud, and every wrongdoer shall be stubble. And the day that shall come shall burn them up,” said יהוה of hosts, “which leaves to them neither root nor branch.

Mal 4:2  “But to you who fear My Name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing(Heb  “raphe” to mend by stitching – to cure, repair and make whole) in His wings. And you shall go out and leap for joy like calves from the stall.

Mal 4:3  “And you shall trample the wrongdoers, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” said יהוה of hosts.

Mal 4:4  “Remember the Torah of Mosheh, My servant, which I commanded him in Ḥorĕḇ for all Yisra’ĕl – laws and right-rulings.

Mal 4:5  “See, I am sending you Ěliyah¹ the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of יהוה. Footnote: ¹Lk. 1:17.

Mal 4:6  “And he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with utter destruction¹.” Footnote: ¹Zech. 14:11.

The ministry of Moshe and Eliyahu are profoundly connected to an end time restored generation. Great adjustments will be required. There will clear instruction as to the mind of YHVH and the required halacha for an end time remnant.

Rev 11:3  “And I shall give unto my two witnesses,(possibly Moshe and Eliyahu) and they shall prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clad in sackcloth.”

Rev 11:4  These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that are standing before the Elohim of the earth.

Rev 11:5  And if anyone wishes to harm them, fire comes out from their mouth and consumes their enemies. And if anyone wishes to harm them, he has to be killed in that way.

Rev 11:6  These possess authority to shut the heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy. And they possess authority over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they wish.

Rev 11:7  And when they have ended their witness, the beast coming up out of the pit of the deep shall fight against them, and overcome them, and kill them,

Rev 11:8  and their dead bodies lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Seḏom and Mitsrayim, where also our Master was impaled,

Rev 11:9  and some of the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations see their dead bodies for three and a half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be placed into tombs,

Rev 11:10  and those dwelling on the earth rejoice over them and exult. And they shall send gifts to each other, because these two prophets tortured those dwelling on the earth.

Rev 11:11  And after the three and a half days a spirit of life from Elohim entered into them, and they stood upon their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.

Rev 11:12  And they heard a loud voice from the heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up into the heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.

Rev 11:13  And in that hour there came to be a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. And in the earthquake seven thousand men were killed, and the rest became afraid and gave esteem to the Elohim of the heaven.

Close by to Mount Nebo is Petra – a desert sanctuary which in history has been a hiding place for believers. Will it become a sanctuary again for and end time remnant?

Hos 2:14  "And now, here's what I'm going to do: I'm going to start all over again. I'm taking her back out into the wilderness where we had our first date, and I'll court her.

Hos 2:15  I'll give her bouquets of roses. I'll turn Heartbreak Valley into Acres of Hope. She'll respond like she did as a young girl, those days when she was fresh out of Egypt.

Hos 2:16  "At that time"--this is YHVH’s Message still-- "you'll address me, 'Dear husband!' Never again will you address me, 'My slave-master!'

Hos 2:17  I'll wash your mouth out with soap, get rid of all the dirty false-god names, not so much as a whisper of those names again. (like the days of the week named after false deities)

Hos 2:18  At the same time I'll make a peace treaty between you and wild animals and birds and reptiles, And get rid of all weapons of war. Think of it! Safe from beasts and bullies!

Hos 2:19  And then I'll marry you for good--forever! I'll marry you true and proper, in love and tenderness.

Hos 2:20  Yes, I'll marry you and neither leave you nor let you go. You'll know me, YHVH, for who I really am.

Deu 34:5  And Mosheh the servant of יהוה died there in the land of Mo’aḇ, according to the mouth of יהוה.

Deu 34:6  And He buried him in a valley in the land of Mo’aḇ, opposite Bĕyth Peʽor, and no one knows his burial place to this day.

Deu 34:7  And Mosheh was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his freshness gone.  (no medical aid or spectacles)

Deu 34:8  And the children of Yisra’ĕl wept for Mosheh in the desert plains of Mo’aḇ thirty days. And the days of weeping and mourning for Mosheh were completed.

Deu 34:9  And Yehoshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Mosheh had laid his hands on him. And the children of Yisra’ĕl listened to him, and did as יהוה had commanded Mosheh.

Deu 34:10  And since then no prophet has arisen in Yisra’ĕl like Mosheh, whom יהוה knew face to face,

The Hebrew sentence structure implies that until the time of Moshe no greater prophet had arisen. The language does not imply that no prophet greater than Moshe will ever arise. We know that Messiah was and is the greatest prophet ever.

Deu 34:11  for all the signs and wonders which יהוה sent him to do in the land of Mitsrayim, before Pharaoh, and before all his servants, and in all his land,

Deu 34:12  and for all that strong hand and all the great fearsome deeds which Mosheh did before the eyes of all Yisra’ĕl.

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

Parashat 54 Portion 150 Dev/Deut 33:1-29 Yehosh/Josh 1:1-18 Yahudah/Jude 1

Parashat 54 “v zot ha bracha” –  “This is the blessing” 

     Jer 23:7 “Therefore, see, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when they shall say no more, ‘As יהוה lives who brought up the children of Yisra’ĕl out of the land of Mitsrayim,’

     Jer 23:8 but, ‘As יהוה lives who brought up and led the seed of the house of Yisra’ĕl out of the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell on their own soil.” (ve zot…)

     The first exodus (or redemption of Yisrael out of Mitsrayim/ Egypt) was prototypical of a second exodus or redemption

     of Yisrael out of the world in the end times (Isa 11:11; Jer 23:7–8).

      Jude/Jehudah reminds us that after YHVH saved His people out of the land of Mitsrayim/Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe and obey according to His Word. Even some of the messengers of heaven fell from their exalted status because they rebelled. These too will be judged on the Great Day.

Jud 1:4  For certain men have slipped in, whose judgment was written about long ago, wicked ones¹ perverting the favour of our Elohim for indecency, and denying the only Master יהוה and our Master יהושע Messiah. Footnote: ¹See Mt. 13, 2 Thess. 2.

Jud 1:5  But I intend to remind you, though you once knew this, that יהוה, having saved a people out of the land of Mitsrayim, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

Jud 1:6  And the messengers who did not keep their own principality, but left their own dwelling, He has kept in everlasting shackles under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

‘Jude/Yehudah also quotes directly from the Book of Enoch. These writings were accepted by the Ethiopian and Eritrean Congregations but rejected by other Congregations. He cites Enoch's prophecy that YHVH would come with many thousands of his set apart ones to render judgement on the whole world. He also paraphrases an incident in a text that has been lost about Satan and Michael quarrelling over the body of Moshe .’Jud 1:14  And Ḥanoḵ, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied of these, saying, “See, יהוה comes with His myriads of set-apart ones, (see Deut 33:2)

Jud 1:15  to execute judgment on all, to punish all who are wicked among them concerning all their wicked works which they have committed in a wicked way, and concerning all the harsh words which wicked sinners have spoken against Him.”

Torah Portion:

Deu 33:1  And this(ve zot) is the blessing with which Mosheh the man of Elohim blessed the children of Yisra’ĕl before his death.

Deu 33:2  And he said, “יהוה came from Sinai, and rose(Heb “zarach” broke out) from Sĕʽir for them. He shone(Heb “yapha” to cause to shine or put forth beams of light) forth from Mount Paran, and came with ten thousands of set-apart ones – at His right hand a law of fire for them. (Heb “lemo” for him)

Compare this with Enoch 1:9, translated from the Ethiopic (found also in Qumran scroll 4Q204=4QEnoch^c ar, col I 16–18):
And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His Saints To execute judgment upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
“There is abundant proof that Yahshua approved of the Book of Enoch. Over a hundred phrases in the “New Testament” find precedents in the Book of Enoch.  Another remarkable bit of evidence for the early Believers' acceptance of the Book of Enoch was for many years buried under the King James Bible's mistranslation of Luke 9:35, describing the 
transfiguration of Messiah: "And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, 'This is my beloved Son: hear him." Apparently the translator here wished to make this verse agree with a similar verse in Matthew and Mark. But Luke's verse in the original Greek reads: "This is my Son, the Elect One (from the Greek ho eklelegmenos, lit., "the elect one"): hear him."  The "Elect One" is a most significant term (found fourteen times) in the Book of Enoch.”
The Book of Enoch refers to Yahshua several times.

62.7 For from the beginning that Son of Man was hidden, and the Most High kept him in the presence of His power, and revealed him only to the chosen.

Mat 25:31  “And when the Son of Aḏam comes in His esteem, and all the set-apart messengers with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His esteem.

We can assume that this verse is speaking of a return of the Messiah to bring judgment to the ungodly and to reward the faithful. This this parashah is about “blessing.” Maybe before the blessing there will be judgment. When Messiah returns his journey starts at Sinai where Israel received the Torah. Then the Messiah breaks out or arises from Seir. Seir was the mountain stronghold of Esav. It is also the possible location of modern day Petra. Then the Messiah shines upon Paran. Paran is believed to be present day Mecca in Saudi Arabia – the birth place of Islam. Perhaps during the great tribulation many Jews, Christians and Muslims will accept the real Messiah – those who reject Messiah Yahshua and YHVH’s Torah will be judged. (see Rev 16 and the pouring out of YHVH’s wrath, this comes after Song of Moshe in Rev 15).

Maybe this is the beginning of the restoration of all things spoken of in Acts 3:21 before Yahshua returns to rule and reign from Yerushalayim for 1000 years.

Law of fire or “Eishdat” is an interesting word – this is one word and this is the only place in the scriptures where this word is found. “Eish” means “fire” in Hebrew and “dat” is a Persian word meaning “law” thus the translation “fiery torah” or “fiery law.

Deu 33:3  Indeed, He loves(hides them in His Bosom) the peoples, all His set-apart ones are in Your hand. And they, they sat down(Heb – tuchu) at Your feet, receiving (Heb – yisah) Your Words.

ג  אַף חֹבֵב עַמִּים, כָּל-קְדֹשָׁיו בְּיָדֶךָ; וְהֵם תֻּכּוּ לְרַגְלֶךָ, יִשָּׂא מִדַּבְּרֹתֶיךָ.

Deu 33:4  Mosheh commanded us a Torah, an inheritance of the assembly of Yaʽaqoḇ.

Before Israel received the inheritance of the land, they received the Torah. So it shall be once again in the last days. You cannot have the land without wanting to embrace all of Torah.

Deu 33:5  And He was Sovereign in Yeshurun,(straight ones) when the heads of the people were gathered,(hitpael – gathered themselves together) the tribes of Yisra’ĕl.

This is most probably a reference to the Messiah. It may be that the tribes will only be able to come together and walk in their inheritance when Messiah returns.

Deu 33:6  “Let Re’uḇĕn live, and not die, and let his men be numbered.”

The Torah mentions Reuben first. We deduce from this that Reuben still had a position of respect and guardianship over his younger brothers.

Deu 33:7  And this of Yehuḏah, and he said, “Hear, יהוה, the voice of Yehuḏah, and bring him to his people. His hands shall fight for him, and You be a help against his enemies.”

It was the voice of Yehudah that finally brought all his brothers together – see Gen/Ber 44:18. – Parashat 11 – Vayigash.  Will it be the same pattern in the last days before Messiah returns?

Deu 33:8  And of Lĕwi he said, “Your Tummim and Your Urim belong to Your kind one, whom You tried at Massah, with whom You contended at the waters of Meriḇah,

Exo 17:7  And he called the name of the place Massah and Meriḇah, because of the ‘strife’ of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and because they ‘tried’ יהוה, saying, “Is יהוה in our midst or not?”

Thummim (perfections) and Urim (light) This and all of Torah points to Messiah (Rom10:4)

Even Moshe tried so hard to get the people of Israel to see that Yahveh would raise a prophet like himself to be Messiah and redeemer – see Dev/Deut 18:15.

People still continue to strive and resist Messiah.

Deu 33:9  who said of his father and mother, ‘I have not seen them.’ And he did not acknowledge his brothers, or know his own children, for they have guarded Your Word and watched over Your covenant.

Let us consider closely the words of our Messiah regarding vs 9:

Luk 11:27  And it came to be, as He was saying this, a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which You sucked!”

Luk 11:28  But He said, “Blessed rather are those hearing the Word of Elohim and watching over it!”¹ Footnote: ¹See 8:21.

Luk 8:19  And His mother and brothers came to Him, and were unable to get to Him because of the crowd.

Luk 8:20  And it was reported to Him, saying, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.”

Luk 8:21  And He answering, said to them, “My mother and My brothers are those who are hearing the Word of Elohim and doing it.”¹ Footnote: ¹Mt. 12:50, Mk. 3:35.

Deu 33:10  “They teach Your right-rulings to Yaʽaqoḇ, and Your Torah to Yisra’ĕl. They put incense before You, and a complete burnt offering on Your altar.

Deu 33:11  “O יהוה, bless his strength, and accept the work of his hands. Smite(shatter or wound seriously) the loins(Heb – “moten” - place of one’s sexual organs) of those who rise against him, and of those who hate him, that they rise no more.”

This is an interesting and harsh punishment for those who oppose Lewi. This possibly refers to those who think they have replaced Lewi or are just as called and anointed as Lewi. It is Lewi’s offspring that get to produce the priests and if someone thinks that even though they are not from Lewi, they and their offspring can replace Levites - YHVH will make sure that their genitals are not able to produce children.

Deu 33:12  Of Binyamin he said, “Let the beloved of יהוה dwell in safety by Him, shielding him all the day, as he dwells between His shoulders.”

The area on the temple mount where the most set apart place appeared was in the territory of Benjamin.

Deu 33:13  And of Yosĕph he said, “Blessed of יהוה is his land, with the choicest from the heavens, with the dew, and the deep lying beneath,

Deu 33:14  with the choice fruits of the sun, with the choice yield of the months,

Deu 33:15  with the finest of the ancient mountains, with the choicest of the everlasting hills,

Deu 33:16  with the choicest of the earth and all that fills it, and the good pleasure of Him who dwelt in the bush. Let it come on the head of Yosĕph, and on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.

Deu 33:17  “His splendour is like a first-born bull, and his horns are like the horns of the wild ox. With them he pushes the peoples to the ends of the earth. And they are the ten thousands of Ephrayim, and they are the thousands of Menashsheh.”

Deu 33:18  And of Zeḇulun he said, “Rejoice, O Zeḇulun, in your going out, and Yissasḵar in your tents!

Deu 33:19  “They call peoples to the mountain, there they bring offerings of righteousness, for they draw from the riches of the seas, and treasures hidden in the sand.”

Deu 33:20  And of Gaḏ he said, “Blessed is he who enlarges Gaḏ. He dwells as a lion, and shall tear off the arm, also the crown.

Deu 33:21  “And he chose the best for himself, for there the portion of the lawgiver was hidden. And he came with the heads of the people. The righteousness of יהוה he did, and His right-rulings with Yisra’ĕl.”

Deu 33:22  And of Dan he said, “Dan is a lion’s cub, that leaps from Bashan.”

Deu 33:23  And of Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, satisfied with pleasure, and filled with the blessing of יהוה, possess the west and the south.”

Deu 33:24  And of Ashĕr he said, “Ashĕr is most blessed of sons. Let him be accepted by his brothers, and dip his foot in oil.

Deu 33:25  “Your sandals are iron and bronze, and your strength as your days.

Deu 33:26  “O Yeshurun, there is no one like Ěl, riding the heavens to help you, and on the clouds, in His excellency.

Deu 33:27  “The Elohim of old is a refuge, and beneath are everlasting arms. And He drives out the enemy from before you and says, ‘Destroy!’

Deu 33:28  “Thus Yisra’ĕl dwells in safety, the fountain of Yaʽaqoḇ alone, in a land of grain and new wine. His heavens also drop down dew.

Deu 33:29  “Blessed are you, O Yisra’ĕl! Who is like you, a people saved by יהוה, the shield of your help, and He who is the sword of your excellency! And your enemies are subdued for you, and you tread down their high places.”
