Parashat 36 Portion 108 B’Midbar/Numbers 12:1-16 Yesh 59:1-21 Yoh 1:1-18

Blessing of Torah.
Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed! Baruch ata YHVH Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na -tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed
are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

We now come to the last Aliyah of parashat “B’ha’alotcha” Miryam, Moshehs' sister, spoke negatively of Moshehs' decision to take a Cushite wife. YHVH was highly displeased by this talk against His servant, and Miryam was stricken with tzara'at ("leprosy") for one week.

Num 12:1  Now Miryam and Aharon spoke against Mosheh because of the Kushite woman whom he had taken, for he had taken a Kushite woman.

1 And Miryam and Aharon spoke against the reasons(ahdot) which brought about  Moshe's taking a Cushite woman – because he (actually)  took a Cushite woman.

Note the feminine verb (tdaber) employed in the first of the passuk (verse) it implies that maybe Miryam instigated this rebellion against Mosheh and Aharon agreed to go along with it. The Hebrew word “ahdot” implies that they were discussing amongst themselves how Mosheh could have taken the liberty to actually have taken a Cushite woman as a companion and wife. Miryam and Aharon obviously reasoned amongst themselves that it was a gross error of judgment on Mosheh’s part because they also “heard” from YHVH, “Mosheh needed to consider the error of his ways.”

Num 12:2  And they said, “Has יהוה spoken only through Mosheh? Has He not also spoken through us?” And יהוה heard it.

This verse (2) lays the absolute foundation in this life and age as to whether or not we have heard from YHVH.
THE TEST IS THIS: IF WHAT WE HAVE HEARD DOES NOT AGREE WITH WHAT MOSHEH HAS HEARD AND SAID – IT DOES NOT COME FROM YHVH.

The fact is that YHVH nor His Son Yahshua will ever contradict what Mosheh said, because what Mosheh said he received from YHVH and what Yahshua said he received from YHVH.

Joh 12:49  “Because I spoke not from Myself, but the Father who sent Me has given Me a command,1 what I should say and what I should speak. Footnote: 1See 7:16.
Joh 12:50  “And I know that His command is everlasting life.1 Therefore, whatever I speak, as the Father has said to Me, so I speak.” Footnote: 1See Mt. 19:17
Joh 5:45  “Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Mosheh, in whom you have set your expectation.
Joh 5:46  “For if you believed Mosheh, you would have believed Me, since he wrote about Me.
Joh 5:47  “But if you do not believe his writings,1 how shall you believe My words?” Footnote: 1Lk. 9:33, Lk. 16:31, Mal. 4:4-5.

2Co 3:15  But to this day, when Mosheh is being read, a veil lies on their heart.
2Co 3:16  And when one turns to the Master, the veil is taken away.
2Co 3:17  Now יהוה is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of יהוה is, there is freedom.

Jas 1:25  But he that looked into the perfect Torah, that of freedom,1 and continues in it, not becoming a hearer that forgets, but a doer of work, this one shall be blessed in his doing of the Torah. Footnote: 1See 2:12.

Num 12:3  And the man Mosheh was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.

The English word “humble” comes from the Hebrew word “anah” and can also mean “depressed and afflicted.”
This carries a Messianic tone of suffering and laying down one’s life for others.
There is also an interesting variation of the spelling of the Hebrew word “anav”(from anah) is used in this passuk. This word can also be spelled with a “yud” (anaiv). The word contains a “yud” we can speculate that there is a humility that comes from YHVH’s Hand. There is also a humility that comes from man’s hand.

Num 12:4  And suddenly יהוה said to Mosheh, and Aharon, and Miryam, “You three, come out to the Tent of Meeting!” So the three came out.
Num 12:5  And יהוה came down in the column of cloud and stood in the door of the Tent, and called Aharon and Miryam. And they both went forward.
Num 12:6  And He said, “Hear now My words: If your prophet is of יהוה, I make Myself known to him in a vision, and I speak to him in a dream.
Num 12:7  “Not so with My servant Mosheh, he is trustworthy in all My house.
Num 12:8  “I speak with him mouth to mouth, and plainly, and not in riddles. And he sees the form of יהוה. So why were you not afraid to speak against My servant Mosheh?”

Hebrew says “pe el pe” or mouth to mouth. This remains the evidence of whether or not we speak the truth. Are the words we speak from YHVH’s Mouth.

Mat 4:4  But He answering, said, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of יהוה.’ ”1 Footnote: 1Dt. 8:3.

Num 12:9  And the displeasure of יהוה burned against them, and He left.
Num 12:10  And the cloud turned away from above the Tent, and look: Miryam was leprous, as white as snow! And Aharon turned toward Miryam, and look: a leper!  - “the sin of la shon ha ra”
Num 12:11  And Aharon said to Mosheh, “Oh, my master! Please do not hold against us the sin in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.
Num 12:12  “Please do not let her be as one dead when coming out of its mother’s womb, with our flesh half consumed!”
Num 12:13  And Mosheh cried out to יהוה, saying, “O Ěl, please heal her, please!”
Num 12:14  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and after that let her be readmitted.”

Ve’avee’ah yarok, yarak…spit he shall surely spit…

Num 12:15  And Miryam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not set out until Miryam was readmitted.

Will YHVH spit in the face of a rebellious bride and place her into seclusion for seven years….?

Num 12:16  And afterward the people departed from Ḥatsĕroth, and they camped in the
Wilderness of Paran. (Paran is a place of caves)

Isa 24:3  the earth is completely emptied and utterly plundered, for יהוה has spoken this word.
Isa 24:4  The earth shall mourn and wither, the world shall languish and wither, the haughty people of the earth shall languish.
Isa 24:5  For the earth has been defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the Torot1, changed2 the law, broken the everlasting covenant3. Footnotes: 1Torot - plural of Torah, teaching. 2Jer. 23:36. 3This is the only reason, according to all Scriptures, why the earth shall be burned in the day of judgment – see also 13:9, 13:11, 26:21, 66:24, Mic. 5:15, Zeph. 1:2-18.
Isa 24:6  Therefore a curse shall consume the earth, and those who dwell in it be punished. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth shall be burned, and few men shall be left.

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn)

Parashat 36 Portion 107 B’Midbar/Numbers 11:1-35 Judges 6:1-16 Matt 6:25-30 Blessing of Torah.

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed!
Baruch ata YHVH Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

For us to have a deeper understanding of this Torah portion we need to understand that our status in this life is that of “desert wonderers.” YHVH has a good track record for providing for “desert wanderers.” The Torah provides an excellent road map for those who have accepted their destiny and fate in this life as desert wonderers to reach their destination.

Psa 84:5  Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Your (pilgrim) Highways are in their heart.

Heb 11:13  In belief all these died, not having received the promises, but seeing them from a distance, welcomed and embraced them, and confessed that they were aliens and strangers on the earth.
Heb 11:14  For those who speak this way make it clear that they seek a fatherland.

Mat 10:38  “And he who does not take up his stake and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
Mat 10:39  “He who has found his life shall lose it, and he that has lost his life for My sake shall find it.

Modern Christianity emphasises the many blessing we receive now and that our ultimate destiny is in heaven.

The way of blessing is to first seek His Kingdom – His restored Kingdom (Millennium reign), where Messiah rules, regathering all the tribes of Israel and teaching all the nations the Torah.

In the absence of a functioning Levitical ministry the goal of our desert pilgrimage is to teach us the Levitical mandate of Leviticus 10:10

Lev 10:10  so as to make a distinction between the set-apart and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean,
Lev 10:11  and to teach the children of Yisra’ĕl all the laws which יהוה has spoken to them by the hand of Mosheh.”

Act 14:22  strengthening the beings of the taught ones, encouraging them to continue in the belief, and that through many pressures we have to enter the reign of Elohim.

See also Deut 8

If the “manna” Messianic Torah reality - does not continually sustain you and satisfy you, you like many Yisraelites, will begin to complain and long for the life you had in “religious” Mirsrayim/Egypt.

Our Torah Portion Begins:

Num 11:1  And it came to be, when the people were as complainers,

א  וַיְהִי הָעָם כְּמִתְאֹנְנִים

The root for “complain” in Hebrew is “anan” and can also mean “to be sorry.” The verb form used above is in the hitpael form (reflexive verb) and can also mean “to feel sorry for oneself.”
The English definition for “complain” is: “to express discontent or unhappiness about a situation.”
This does not mean we cannot express feelings of discontent and unhappiness about our situations in this life. We need to discern what kind of expressions of discontent are acceptable before YHVH and what kind of expressions are not acceptable. Clearly we see in the same verse that it was evil in the Ears of YHVH.

….it was evil in the ears of יהוה. And יהוה heard it, and His displeasure burned. And the fire of יהוה burned among them, and consumed those in the outskirts of the camp.

This kind of complaining was so unacceptable to YHVH that He destroyed those in the outskirts of the camp.

Let us midrash on this kind of unacceptable behavior:

רַע בְּאָזְנֵי יְהוָה; וַיִּשְׁמַע יְהוָה, וַיִּחַר אַפּוֹ, וַתִּבְעַר-בָּם אֵשׁ יְהוָה, וַתֹּאכַל בִּקְצֵה הַמַּחֲנֶה.

First of all we see in the passuk (verse) that YHVH “heard.” This may imply that the people were being very vocal amongst each other about their discontent. Maybe it’s a better idea to first remain silent about our discontent and wait on YHVH as to what He is trying to say to us in the situation and how we ought to respond to the situation.
Then we begin to see a progression of YHVH’s anger. First He becomes “hot” “charah” in Hebrew can mean “hot or furious.” “Ohf” in Hebrew means “nose or nostril” it also implies someone who is breathing hard and is angry. Get the picture someone is turning red with anger starts breathing hard and is about to “explode” If this was a man it can be very scary, imagine if this is YHVH?
If we have been filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh (Set Apart Spirit) we ought to display some kind of discernment in our own spirits when YHVH is displeased and even furious. Sadly this is often not the case. The consequences are none the less extremely detrimental to those who have caused such anger.
“Vativar” comes from the root “ba ar” which means to kindle implying to “consume or destroy.” The Fire of YHVH is kindled and it brings severe destruction.
“Vatochal” comes from the root “ohchal” which means to eat, devour, burn up or feed. Get the picture, the fire of YHVH “eats up” the complaining people.
These “eaten up people” were on the outskirts (bikitsah) of the camp. In other words they were possibly distancing themselves from obeying and submitting to Moshe and YHVH’s Torah. They were displaying an “independent spirit.”
This should cause us to fear and not to judge. The coming fiery judgment of YHVH may first fall on those who are part of His Camp or His House.

1Pe 4:17  Because it is time for judgment to begin from the House of Elohim. And if firstly from us, what is the end of those who do not obey the Good News(Torah) of Elohim?
1Pe 4:18  And if the righteous one is scarcely saved, where shall the wicked and the sinner appear?

The presence of YHVH can only dwell in a people set apart by His commandments. These set apart people will have an intense desire to follow and walk in all the commandments of YHVH.  Baruch ata YHVH melech ha olam asher kidishanu bimitzvotah vitzivanu la asok bediverei Torah-

English translation: Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, who has made us set apart through His commandments and commanded us to actively study Torah. Please YHVH, our Elohim, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our mouths and in the mouths of all Your people Israel. May we and our offspring, and the offspring of Your people, the House of Israel, may we all, together, know Your Name and study Your Torah for the sake of fulfilling Your desire. Blessed are You, YHVH, Who teaches Torah to His people Israel. Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, Who chose us from all the nations and gave us the Torah. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah.

Num 11:2  And the people cried out to Mosheh, and Mosheh prayed to יהוה, and the fire died down.

The Hebrew word root “shaka” is used and means “to drown”. Moshe’s intercessory prayer “drowned” the fire of YHVH.

Num 11:3  Then he called the name of the place Taḇʽĕrah, because the fire of יהוה had burned among them.
Num 11:4  And the mixed multitude who were in their midst lusted greatly, so the children of Yisra’ĕl also wept again and said, “Who is giving us meat to eat?

There was plenty of meat to be eaten. Reuben and Gad had large flocks of animals (32:1). Rashi states that this was merely a pretext to complain about the manna.

The “mixed multitude” in Hebrew “aspesuf” or “gathered gathering” seen as a kind of trouble making group within a group who gathered for the wrong reasons. Note the Hebrew word “erev rav” or mixed multitude is not used in this verse. This implies that it was not the sojourners who were to be singled out for the cause of this disturbance.
This is very dangerous because it implies that some were gathering with those inside of Yisrael in such a way as to distinguish themselves from the rest of Yisrael. Those with independent spirits found each other. An independent spirited person believes that they know what they need to reach the goal of their faith.

Num 11:5  “We remember the fish which we ate without cost in Mitsrayim, the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic,
Num 11:6  but now our throat is dried up. There is naught to look at but this manna!”

Hebrew literally reads “our souls are dried up. “Dried up” comes from an ancient Hebrew root form meaning “ashamed, confused and disappointed.
We see herein the danger of not being content in the circumstances we have been placed in. Some of the Yisraelites felt that unbelieving Mitarites/Egyptians had it better than them and they were going to change that by protesting until they got what they wanted.

Php 4:11  Not that I speak concerning need, for I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.
Php 4:12  I know what it is to be humbled, and I know what it is to have in excess. In any and every situation I have learned both to be filled, and to be hungry, both to have in excess, and to be in need.
Php 4:13  I have strength to do all, through Messiah1 who empowers me.

Num 11:7  Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like the appearance of bdellium.
Num 11:8  The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, and cooked it in a pot, and made cakes of it. And its taste was as the taste of cakes baked with oil.
Num 11:9  And when the dew fell on the camp at night, the manna fell on it.
Num 11:10  And Mosheh heard the people weeping throughout their clans, each man at the door of his tent. And the displeasure of יהוה burned exceedingly. And in the eyes of Mosheh it was evil,
Num 11:11  so Mosheh said to יהוה, “Why have You done evil to Your servant? And why have I not found favour in Your eyes, to put the burden of all these people on me?
Num 11:12  “Was it I who conceived all these people? Was it I who brought them forth, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as the foster father carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers?
Num 11:13  “Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep before me, saying, ‘Give us meat to eat.’
Num 11:14  “I am unable to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.
Num 11:15  “And if You are doing this to me, please slay me altogether, if I have found favour in Your eyes, and let me not see my evil!”
Num 11:16  Then יהוה said to Mosheh, “Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Yisra’ĕl, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them. And bring them to the Tent of Meeting, and let them stand there with you.
Num 11:17  “And I shall come down and speak with you there, and shall take of the Spirit that is on you, and put on them. And they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you do not bear it yourself alone.
Num 11:18  “And say to the people, ‘Set yourselves apart for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat, because you have wept in the hearing of יהוה, saying, “Who is giving us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Mitsrayim.” And יהוה shall give you meat, and you shall eat.
Num 11:19  ‘You are going to eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,
Num 11:20  but for a month of days, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes an abomination to you, because you have rejected יהוה who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, “Why did we come up out of Mitsrayim?” ’ ”
Num 11:21  And Mosheh said, “The people in whose midst I am are six hundred thousand men on foot, and You, You have said, ‘I give them meat to eat for a month of days.’
Num 11:22  “Could flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Or could all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”
Num 11:23  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Is the arm of יהוה too short? Now see whether My word meets you or not!”
Num 11:24  And Mosheh went out and spoke to the people the words of יהוה, and he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the Tent.
Num 11:25  And יהוה came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders. And it came to be, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, but did not continue.
Num 11:26  However, two men had remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldaḏ, and the name of the other Mĕyḏaḏ. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but did not go out to the Tent. And they prophesied in the camp.
Num 11:27  And a young man ran and informed Mosheh, and said, “Eldaḏ (Elohim has loved) and Mĕyḏaḏ(love) are prophesying in the camp.”
Num 11:28  And Yehoshua son of Nun, Mosheh’s assistant from his youth, answered and said, “Mosheh my master, forbid them!”
Num 11:29  Then Mosheh said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? Oh, that all the people of יהוה were prophets, that יהוה would put His Spirit upon them!”
Num 11:30  And Mosheh returned to the camp, both he and the elders of Yisra’ĕl.
Num 11:31  And a wind went forth from יהוה, and it brought quail from the sea and let them fall beside the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground.
Num 11:32  And the people were up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail. He who has least gathered ten ḥomers. And they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.
Num 11:33  The meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, and the wrath of יהוה burned against the people, and יהוה smote the people with an exceeding great plague.

Be careful what you pray for and set your heart on!

Num 11:34  Then he called the name of that place Qiḇroth Hatta’awah, (the graves of lust) because there they buried the people who had lusted.
Num 11:35  From Qiḇroth Hatta’awah the people set out for Ḥatsĕroth – and they were at Ḥatsĕroth.(an enclosed space, possibly a place of safety.)

How many will survive this “desert” journey in the last days?

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed!Baruch ata  YHVH Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to.

Num 9:22-23  Whether two days, or a month, or a year that the cloud lingered above the Dwelling Place to dwell upon it, the children of Yisra’ĕl camped, and did not depart. But when it was taken up, they departed. At the command of יהוה they camped, and at the command of יהוה they departed. They guarded the Charge of יהוה, at the command of יהוה by the hand of Mosheh.

Note the use of the future tense verbs – “encamped and journeyed.” These verbs may also refer to a future time when Yisrael will begin its epic journey back to the Land. Note also that the word “commandment'' is not used but “mouth of YHVH” is used.

Mat 4:4  But He answering, said, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of יהוה.’ ”1 Footnote: 1Dt. 8:3.

We are on a journey and will only reach our final destination after the millennium.

Num 10:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Num 10:2  “Make two silver trumpets for yourself, make them of beaten work. And you shall use them for calling the congregation and for breaking camp. Num 10:3  “And when they blow both of them, all the congregation shall meet before you at the door of the Tent of Meeting. (Hebrew defines different kinds of blasts from the trumpets) Num 10:4  “And if they blow one, then the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Yisra’ĕl, shall gather to you. Num 10:5  “And when you blow a shout,(teruah) the camps that lie on the east side shall depart. Num 10:6  “And when you blow a shout the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall depart – they blow a shout for them to depart.
Num 10:7  “And when the assembly is to be assembled, you blow (long blasts), but do not shout (short blasts). Num 10:8  “And the sons of Aharon, the priests, blow with the trumpets. And it shall be to you for a law (chukat) forever throughout your generations. Num 10:9  “And when you go into battle in your land against the enemy that distresses you, then you shall shout with the trumpets, and you shall be remembered before יהוה your Elohim, and you shall be saved from your enemies. Num 10:10  “And in the day of your gladness (this can be Feasts like Chanukah and Purim -Book of Esther- that are not Torah commanded Moadim), and in your appointed times (Moadim) , and at the beginning of your months (Rosh Chodesh), you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over your peace offerings. And they shall be a remembrance for you before your Elohim. I am יהוה your Elohim.”
Num 10:11  And it came to be on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from above the Dwelling Place of the Witness. (just near the end of the seven days of Chag ha Matzot of  Pesach Sheni – in the last days the stragglers and backsliders will be given a second chance to join the 12 tribes return to the land)

Perhaps there was a delay to their journey because of “Pesach sheni” (Hebrew for second Passover – see previous portion).

Num 10:12,13  And the children of Yisra’ĕl departed, setting out from the Wilderness of Sinai. And the cloud dwelt on it in the Wilderness of Paran. Thus they departed the first time, according to the command of יהוה by the hand of Mosheh.

This was the first time after camping at Mount Sinai that the nation moved. They had left Mitzraim/Egypt and now they were ready to move on.

Num 10:14  And the banner of the camp of the children of Yehuḏah departed first according to their divisions. And over their army was Naḥshon, son of Amminaḏaḇ.
Num 10:15  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Yissasḵar was Nethanĕ’l, son of Tsuʽar.
Num 10:16  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Zeḇulun was Eliyaḇ, son of Ḥĕlon.
Num 10:17  And the Dwelling Place was taken down. And the sons of Gĕreshon and the sons of Merari departed, bearing the Dwelling Place.
Num 10:18  And the banner of the camp of Re’uḇĕn departed according to their divisions. And over their army was Elitsur, son of Sheḏĕy’ur.
Num 10:19  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Shimʽon was Shelumi’ĕl, son of Tsurishaddai.
Num 10:20  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Gaḏ was Elyasaph, the son of Deu’ĕl.
Num 10:21  And the Qehathites departed, bearing the set-apart objects, while the Dwelling Place was set up before they came.
Num 10:22  And the banner of the camp of the children of Ephrayim departed according to their divisions. And over their army was Elishama, son of Ammihuḏ.
Num 10:23  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Menashsheh was Gamli’ĕl, son of Peḏahtsur.
Num 10:24  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Binyamin was Aḇiḏan, son of Giḏʽoni.
Num 10:25  Then the banner of the camp of the children of Dan, which formed the rear guard of all the camps, departed according to their divisions. And over their army was Aḥiʽezer, son of Ammishaddai.
Num 10:26  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Ashĕr was Paḡʽi’ĕl, the son of Oḵran.
Num 10:27  And over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Aḥira, the son of Ěnan.
Num 10:28  Such was the order of setting out of the children of Yisra’ĕl, according to their divisions, when they departed.
Num 10:29  And Mosheh said to Ḥoḇaḇ, the son of Reʽuw’ĕl (friend of Elohim)the Miḏyanite, Mosheh’s father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which יהוה said, ‘I give it to you.’ Come with us, and we shall do good to you, for יהוה has spoken good concerning Yisra’ĕl.”
Num 10:30  And he replied to him, “I am not going, but I am going to my own land and to my relatives.”
Num 10:31  Then he said, “Please do not leave us, because you know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you shall be our eyes.
Num 10:32  “And it shall be, when you go with us, then it shall be that whatever good יהוה does to us, the same we shall do to you.”

According to the sages Yitro did accompany Moshe and received a 250 000sq cubits plot of land in Yericho.

“and you shall be our eyes” is written in the future tense. Rashi translates this as “if anything should be hidden from our eyes, you will enlighten us”
This is a rather profound prophetic statement and is seen by some as a future prophecy of the significance of “gerim” or the grafted- in- branches- of Israel playing an extremely significant role in bringing light to the Torah of YHVH as it relates to end time issues and the returning of all exiles to the land of Israel.

Num 10:33  So they set out from the mountain of יהוה on a journey of three days(Messianic number). And the ark of the covenant of יהוה went before them for the three days’ journey, to seek out a resting place for them.

Rashi makes a very interesting comment on this ark. He says on page 787 in the Stones Chumash – “The commentators raise the difficulty that the ark traveled after the formations of Yahudah and Reuben (vs 17) not at the forefront of the camp, this ark was not the ark that contained the Tablets but the second ark which contained the broken pieces of the first set of tablets which Mosheh had shattered.
This is a picture of Messiah’s broken body resurrected after three days to show us the way to the Kingdom of YHVH.

Num 10:34  And the cloud of יהוה was above them by day when they went out from the camp. Num 10:35  And it came to be, whenever the ark set out, that Mosheh said, “Rise up, O יהוה! And let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You.” Num 10:36  And when it rested, he said, “Return, O יהוה, to the countless thousands of Yisra’ĕl.”

These two verses (35 and 36) happen to fall between two inverted ‘nuns’. (a nun is one of the letters in the Hebrew alphabet and they appear here in these verses back to front.) Whenever an oddity appears in the Torah we need to pay special attention to some hidden deeper message in the text.
“Nun” (5125) has a meaning to “resprout” and contains the idea of “life in perpetuation” The “nun” also looks like a bent “vav”

reminding us of how Messiah came to serve and not to be served.
Why the inverted ‘nuns”? Maybe as long as Messiah is not on earth teaching the nations the Torah, life will be abrupt and back to front and not “perpetuating” as it was meant to be.
Today we believe that these two verses testify to the two comings of our Messiah. In the synagogues vs 35 is read when the Torah scroll is taken out of a closet called the “ark of the covenant/Aaron Kodesh” and verse 36 is read when the scroll is returned. Even in our days I believe this action sends a terrifying message into the spiritual realm. It is stating that the Messiah has come and scattered and defeated his enemies and he will return with millions of his followers to enforce a complete removal our enemies
Col 2:15  Having stripped the principalities and the authorities, He made a public display of them, having prevailed over them in it.

1Jn 3:1-3  See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of Elohim! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved ones, now we are children of Elohim. And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  And everyone having this expectation in Him cleanses himself, as He is clean.

Isa 27:12,13  And in that day it shall be that יהוה threshes, from the channel of the River to the wadi of Mitsrayim. And you shall be gathered one by one1, O children of Yisra’ĕl. Footnote: 1Jer. 3:14-15. And in that day it shall be that a great horn is blown, and those who were perishing in the land of Ashshur and the outcasts in the land of Mitsrayim shall come, and shall worship יהוה on the set-apart mountain, in Yerushalayim – see also 1 Thess 4:16.

In these days there may still be a remnant Levitical leadership and those willing to submit to such an anointing. Who desire the return of the full measure and splendor of the true Messiah and the true Torah. Only these will be able to discern the prophetic signs and trumpet sounds of the last days.

Only a restored Levitical priesthood will discern the sound of the trumpets in the book of Revelation and warn those called to guard the commandments and who have the testimony of Yahshua.

Rev 22:14  “Blessed are those1 doing His commands,2 so that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter through the gates into the city.

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn)
