Parashat 51 Portion 148 Dev 31:14-31 1Kings 2:1-12 1 Tim 4:6-16

1Ti 4:6  If you present these matters to the brothers, you shall be a good servant of יהושע Messiah, being nourished in the words of(Gk – the faith) belief and of the good teaching which you have(Gk – fully followed) followed closely.
1Ti 4:13  Until I come, give attention to(Gk the reading) reading of Scripture, to encouragement, to teaching. (This is possibly a reference to the weekly Torah portions)
1Ti 4:14  Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the elderhood.
1Ti 4:15  Practise these matters, be in them, so that your progress might be plain to all.
1Ti 4:16  Pay attention to yourself and to the teaching. Continue in them, for in doing this you shall save both yourself and those who hear you.

Which matters in vs 6?

1Ti 4:1  But the Spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall fall away from the belief, paying attention to misleading spirits, and teachings of demons,
1Ti 4:2  speaking lies in hypocrisy, having been branded(seared) on their own conscience,

The greatest deception amongst believers is to believe that they are not deceived or can be deceived. Many of us today realize how seriously we have been deceived. There is possibly far more deception going on in our own lives and in the lives of others than what we imagine, or are willing to admit.

Definition of deception: Deception occurs when you deceive, a word that comes from the Latin de- meaning "from" and capere, meaning "to take." When you deceive someone you take something from them, taking something that is not rightfully yours. Deception is a trick or scheme to get what you want.

In Hebrew the word for deception is “ramoot” and comes from the root “ram” which means “high, lofty, elevated or exalted” by implication deception is everything that exalts itself above YHVH and His Torah – “ramah” is a high place or a demonic stronghold.

In the last days the great tribulation – like the ancient 10 plagues of Egypt – will bring deliverance to the “called out ones” from demonic bondages.
Like in Egypt the first three plagues came on all people – Egyptians and Israelites. So too in the last days in the beginning of the great tribulation the first plagues will come upon all people. What will these plagues be? No one can know for sure. Maybe we will all suffer the consequences of being deceived by false doctrines and religion. When these false religions are exposed and people begin to oppose them there could be a great unleashing of demonic power on the earth.

These are the very last words that Moshe spoke before he sang his final farewell song to Israel  which was about how evil would come upon Israel:

Deu 31:29  “For I know that after my death you shall do very corruptly and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you. And evil shall come to you in the latter days, because you do what is evil in the eyes of יהוה, to provoke Him through the work of your hands.”
Deu 31:30  So Mosheh spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Yisra’ĕl the words of this song till their completion:

After Moshe sang his song, he went up Mount Nebo and died.

Parashah:

Deu 31:14  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “See, the days have drawn near for you to die. Call Yehoshua, and present yourselves in the Tent of Meeting, so that I command him.” And Mosheh and Yehoshua went and presented themselves in the Tent of Meeting.

Haftarah:

1Ki 2:1  And the days of Dawiḏ drew near to die, and he commanded Shelomoh his son, saying,
1Ki 2:2  “I am going the way of all the earth. And you shall be strong, and be a man.
1Ki 2:3  “And guard the Charge of יהוה your Elohim: to walk in His ways, to guard His laws, His commands, His right-rulings, and His witnesses, as it is written in the Torah of Mosheh, so that you do wisely all that you do and wherever you turn;

Deu 31:15  And יהוה appeared at the Tent in a column of a cloud, and the column of a cloud stood above the door of the Tent.
Deu 31:16  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “See, you are about to sleep with your fathers. And this people shall rise and whore after the mighty ones of the strangers of the land into the midst of which they shall enter, and forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.
Deu 31:17  “Then My displeasure shall burn against them in that day, and I shall forsake them and hide My face from them, and they shall be consumed. And many evils and distresses shall come upon them, and it shall be said in that day, ‘Is it not because our Elohim is not in our midst that these evils have come upon us?’
Deu 31:18  “And I shall certainly hide My face in that day, because of all the evil which they have done, for they shall turn to other mighty ones.

This is the last time Moshe appears in the tent of meeting or tabernacle. This is the last message(besides the song) YHVH gives to Moshe to give to us. This last message is a serious indictment against Israel and her ongoing rebellion against YHVH and His Torah

Consider the seriousness of this indictment against Israel – Moshe died around the year 1273 BCE. During his entire life and even during and after the life on earth of Messiah who came, up to this present moment – Israel and the entire world still remains for the most part rebellious and disobedient to YHVH – His Messiah and His Torah.

See notes on Tim Hegg – Portion 148

Deu 31:19  “And now write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Yisra’ĕl. Put it in their mouths, so that this song is to Me for a witness against the children of Yisra’ĕl.
Deu 31:20  “And I shall bring them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they shall eat and be satisfied and be fat, then they shall turn to other mighty ones, and they shall serve them, and scorn Me and break My covenant.
Deu 31:21  “And it shall be, when many evils and distresses come upon them, that this song shall answer before them as a witness. For it is not to be forgotten in the mouths of their seed, for I know their thoughts which they are forming today, even before I bring them to the land of which I swore to give them.”
Deu 31:22  And Mosheh wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the children of Yisra’ĕl.
Deu 31:23  And He commanded Yehoshua son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous, for you are to bring the children of Yisra’ĕl into the land of which I swore to them, and I Myself am with you.”
Deu 31:24  And it came to be, when Mosheh had completed writing the Words of this Torah in a book, until their completion,
Deu 31:25  that Mosheh commanded the Lĕwites, who bore the ark of the covenant of יהוה, saying,
Deu 31:26  “Take this Book of the Torah, and you shall place it beside the ark of the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, and it shall be there as a witness against you,
Deu 31:27  for I myself know your rebellion and your stiff neck. See, while I am still alive with you today, you have been rebellious against יהוה, then how much more after my death?
Deu 31:28  “Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, so that I speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth to witness against them.

“The remnant is a recurring theme throughout the scriptures. The Anchor Bible Dictionary describes it as "What is left of a community after it undergoes a catastrophe". These are the most important group of people on earth because they are the focus of YHVH’s attention and protection in these last days.
Rom 11:5  So therefore also, at this present time a remnant according to the choice of favour has come to be.

Rev 12:17  And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the commands of Elohim and possessing the witness of יהושע Messiah.

Rev 3:7  “And to the messenger of the assembly in Philadelphia write, ‘He who is set-apart, He who is true, He who has the key of Dawiḏ, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens, says this:
Rev 3:8  “I know your works – see, I have set before you an open door, and no one is able to shut it – that you have little power, yet have guarded My Word, and have not denied My Name.
Rev 3:9  “See, I am giving up those of the congregation of Satan, who say they are Yehuḏim and are not, but lie. See, I am making them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
Rev 3:10  “Because you have guarded My Word of endurance, I also shall guard you from the hour of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try those who dwell on the earth.
