Parashat 9 Portion 37 Ber 40:1-23 Yesh 29:8-14, 18-19 Matt 5:1-16 Mark 7:6-9

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed! Baruch ata YHVHEloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

Isa 29:10  For יהוה has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets. And He has covered your heads, the seers.
Isa 29:11  And the entire vision is to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men give to one who knows books, saying, “Read this, please.” And he said, “I am unable, for it is sealed.”
Isa 29:18  And in that day the deaf shall hear (‘’shemu’’ masc. pl.)) the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see (‘’tirena’’ fem.pl.) out of gloom, and out of darkness.
When the leaders and prophets ‘’hear’’ the ‘’kehilah’’ or called out ones will see.

Dan 12:9  And he said, “Go, Dani’ěl, for the words are hidden and sealed till the time of the end.[b] Footnote: bSee Dan_12:4

Gen 40:1  And after these events it came to be that the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim sinned against their master, the sovereign of Mitsrayim. (bread and wine are covenant symbols)
Gen 40:2  And Pharaoh was wroth with his two officers,(Heb – sarisaiv – his eunuchs) the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.

The Hebrew word for “officers” is “saris” and comes from the Hebrew verb “seres” which means to castrate or distort. This alludes to the fact that all officers and leaders of a false religious system are “castrated” by the system and are unable to produce a life- giving word (distorted word) that can reveal to us the fullness of who Yahshua is. It is not a coincidence that only a remnant are born again from an incorruptible seed.

1Pe 1:23  having been born again – not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible – through the living Word of Elohim, which remains forever… (not a distorted word)

Gen 40:3  So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Yosĕph was a prisoner.
Gen 40:4  And the captain of the guard put Yosĕph in charge of them, and he served them. So they were in confinement for some time.
Gen 40:5  Then the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim, who were confined in the prison, dreamed a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.

The Hebrew word used for prison is “sohar” Strongs 5470 – meaning a “house of roundness”
It is rather ironic that the English word “church”(kirke) can also refers to a “house of roundness”

Gen 40:6  And Yosĕph came in to them in the morning and looked at them and saw that they were sad.
Gen 40:7  And he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in confinement of his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
Gen 40:8  And they said to him, “We each have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosĕph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to Elohim? Relate them to me, please.”
Gen 40:9  So the chief cupbearer related his dream to Yosĕph, and said to him, “See, in my dream a vine was before me,
Gen 40:10  and in the vine were three branches, and it was as though it budded – its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
Gen 40:11  “And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand. So I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”
Gen 40:12  And Yosĕph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.
Gen 40:13  “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you shall put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former ruling, when you were his cupbearer.
Gen 40:14  “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me. And mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.
Gen 40:15  “For truly I was stolen away from the land of the Heḇrews. And also I have done naught that they should put me into the dungeon.”
Gen 40:16  And the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to Yosĕph, “I also was in my dream and saw three white baskets were on my head,
Gen 40:17  and in the uppermost basket all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
Gen 40:18  And Yosĕph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.
Gen 40:19  “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree. And the birds shall eat your flesh from you.”
Gen 40:20  And on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, it came to be that he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and of the chief baker among his servants,
Gen 40:21  and he restored the chief cupbearer to his post of cupbearer again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,
Gen 40:22  but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosĕph had interpreted to them.
Gen 40:23  And the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosĕph, but forgot him.

This is covenantal language – bread and wine – in YHVH’s covenant there is both life and death. The cup bearer and baker could be a hidden reference to those who minister YHVH’s covenant to His people.

2Co 4:11  For we, the living, are always delivered to death for the sake of יהושע, that the life of יהושע might also be manifested in our mortal flesh,
2Co 4:12  so that death indeed is working in us, but the life in you.

Rom 10:4  For Messiah is the goal1 of the ‘Torah unto righteousness’ to everyone who believes. Footnote: 1Or end purpose; not termination.

Mat 12:38  Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from You.”
Mat 12:39  But He answering, said to them, “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Yonah.
Mat 12:40  “For as Yonah was three days and three nights in the stomach of the great fish, Jon_1:17 so shall the Son of Aḏam be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Mat 12:41  “Men of Ninewěh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Yonah, and look, a greater than Yonah is here.
