Parashat 22 Portion 77 ‘’ Vayakel’’ Shemot 34:27 – 35:29 Yerm 31:32-41 1 Cor 12:1-13

Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.

Jer 31:31  “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall make a renewed covenant with the house of Yisra’ěl and with the house of Yehuḏah,[a] Footnote: a Heb_8:8-12, Heb_10:16-17

Jer 31:32  not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I strengthened[b] their hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares יהוה. Footnote: bCommonly understood as “take hold of.”

Jer 31:33  “For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ěl after those days, declares יהוה: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.

Jer 31:34  “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares יהוה. “For I shall forgive their crookedness, and remember their sin no more.”

Jer 31:35  Thus said יהוה, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the laws of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, and its waves roar – יהוה of hosts is His Name:

Jer 31:36  “If these laws vanish from before Me,” declares יהוה, “then the seed of Yisra’ěl shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.”

Jer 31:37  Thus said יהוה, “If the heavens above could be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I would also cast off all the seed of Yisra’ěl for all that they have done,” declares יהוה

Jer 31:38  “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “that the city shall be built for יהוה from the Tower of Ḥanan’ěl to the Corner Gate.

Jer 31:39  “And the measuring line shall again extend straight ahead to the hill Garěḇ, then it shall turn toward Go‛ah.

Jer 31:40  “And all the valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the wadi Qiḏron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, is to be set-apart to יהוה. It shall not be plucked up or thrown down any more forever.”

“See, the days are coming,” when YHVH’s people will no longer break His Covenant and His People will permanently dwell in places where they will never be uprooted from again.

“See, the days are coming,”  New Jerusalem – Rev 21 - 1Co 2:9  But as it has been written, “Eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, nor have entered into the heart of man what Elohim has prepared for those who love Him.” Isa_64:4

2Pe 3:7  And the present heavens and the earth are treasured up by the same Word, being kept for fire, to a day of judgment and destruction of wicked men.

2Pe 3:8  But, beloved ones, let not this one matter be hidden from you: that with יהוה one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Psa_90:4

2Pe 3:9  יהוה is not slow in regard to the promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.[b] Footnote: b 1Ti_2:4

2Pe 3:10  But the day of יהוה shall come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up.

2Pe 3:11  Seeing all these are to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be in set-apart behaviour and reverence,

2Pe 3:12  looking for and hastening the coming of the day of Elohim, through which the heavens shall be destroyed, being set on fire, and the elements melt with intense heat!

2Pe 3:13  But according to His promise we wait for a renewed heavens and a renewed earth Isa_65:17, Isa_66:22 in which righteousness dwells.

כתב לך – ‘’katav lecha’’ or you write..

Why write? So, we don’t forget. If it were not for these ancient writings and prophecies, we would all be living in the darkness of ignorance.

Exo 34:27  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Write these Words, for according to the mouth of these Words I have made a covenant with you and with Yisra’ĕl.”

Exo 34:28  And he was there with יהוה forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread and he did not drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the Words of the covenant, the Ten Words. (Mat 4;1-11)

Deu 31:24  And it came to be, when Mosheh had completed writing the Words of this Torah in a book, until their completion,

Deu 31:25  that Mosheh commanded the Lěwites, who bore the ark of the covenant of יהוה, saying,

Deu 31:26  “Take this Book of the Torah, and you shall place it beside the ark of the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, and it shall be there as a witness against you,

Deu 31:27  for I myself know your rebellion and your stiff neck. See, while I am still alive with you today, you have been rebellious against יהוה, then how much more after my death?

Deu 31:28  “Assemble (Vayakel) unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, so that I speak these words in their hearing and call the heavens and the earth to witness against them.

Exo 34:29  And it came to be, when Mosheh came down from Mount Sinai, while the two tablets of the Witness were in Mosheh’s hand when he came down from the mountain, that Mosheh did not know that the skin of his face shone(‘’karan’’) since he had spoken with Him.

Exo 34:30  And Aharon and all the children of Yisra’ĕl looked at Mosheh and saw the skin of his face shone,(Heb ‘’Karan’’ – S7160) and they were afraid to come near him - S7160 (Qal) to send out rays;  (Hiphil) to display or grow horns, be horned

Exo 34:31  But Mosheh called out to them, and Aharon and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him, and Mosheh spoke to them.

Exo 34:32  And afterward all the children of Yisra’ĕl came near, and he commanded them all that יהוה had spoken with him on Mount Sinai.

Parashat ‘’Vayakel’’

Exo 35:1  And Mosheh assembled (Vayakel) all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and said to them, “These are the Words which יהוה has commanded you to do:

We must keep in mind that Israel had just experienced a major moral failure – the golden calf. Now Moshe is assembling the nation of Israel to inform them that YHVH was renewing His Kindness and His Covenant with them. We need to consider the miracle of gathering ‘’all the congregation’’ as there are between 2-3 million Israelites. Once again, we need to recognize that this kind of communication and administration of YHVH’s goodness can only occur with the supernatural enabling of the Set Apart Spirit – through the gifts and administration of the Set Apart Spirit – which continues until our day.

Under this powerful enabling and anointing of the Set Apart Spirit – the first issue that is raised by YHVH is the Sabbath (Shabbat). It is almost like all this restoration that needs to take place can only take place with the proper keeping of the Sabbath.

The same can be said about the emerging Hebrew roots movement – it often begins by a desire to return to guarding the Shabbat.

The eternal significance of the Sabbath is that the ‘’sabbath millennium’’ is the beginning of the ‘’marriage’’ between Messiah and His Bride. The Tabernacle is the ‘’preparation tent’’ that prepares and inspires and invites ‘’Israelites’’ to this day to be part of this great coming together and restoration of all things.

Exo 35:2  “Work is done for six days, but on the seventh day it shall be set-apart to you, a Sabbath of rest to יהוה. Anyone doing work on it is put to death.

Exo 35:3  “Do not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.” (Jer 7:18 – not to gather wood on Sabbath- Num 15:32)

Exo 35:4  And Mosheh spoke to all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, “This is the word which יהוה commanded, saying,

Exo 35:5  ‘Take from among you a contribution(terumah- Shemot 25) to יהוה. Everyone whose heart so moves him, let him bring it as a contribution to יהוה: gold, and silver, and bronze,

The instructions of the Tabernacle are repeated again and again – why? Its like a beautiful love song we never grow weary of listening to over and over again and every time we listen to the song it takes our ‘’breath away’’ and our love grows stronger and stronger for our Bridegroom Redeemer.

Exo 35:6  and blue, and purple, and scarlet material, and fine linen, and goats’ hair,

Exo 35:7  and ram skins dyed red, and fine leather, and acacia wood,

Exo 35:8  and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense,

Exo 35:9  and shoham stones, and stones to be set in the shoulder garment and in the breastplate.

Exo 35:10  ‘And let all the wise-hearted among you come and make all that יהוה has commanded:

Exo 35:11  the Dwelling Place, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its columns, and its sockets,

Exo 35:12  the ark and its poles, the lid of atonement and the veil of the covering,

Exo 35:13  the table and its poles, and all its utensils, and the showbread,

Exo 35:14  and the lampstand for the light, and its utensils, and its lamps, and the oil for the light,

Exo 35:15  and the incense altar, and its poles, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the covering for the door at the entrance of the Dwelling Place,

Exo 35:16  the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils, the basin and its stand,

Exo 35:17  the screens of the courtyard, its columns, and their sockets, and the covering for the gate of the courtyard,

Exo 35:18  the pegs of the Dwelling Place, and the pegs of the courtyard, and their cords,

Exo 35:19  the woven garments to do service in the set-apart place, the set-apart garments for Aharon the priest and the garments of his sons to serve as priests.’ ”

Exo 35:20  And all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl withdrew from the presence of Mosheh.

Exo 35:21  And everyone whose heart lifted him up and everyone whose spirit moved him came, and they brought the contribution to יהוה for the work of the Tent of Meeting, and for all its service, and for the set-apart garments.

Exo 35:22  And they came, both men and women, all whose hearts moved them, and brought earrings and nose rings, and rings and necklaces, all golden goods, even every one who made a wave offering of gold to יהוה.

Exo 35:23  And every man, with whom was found blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and rams’ skins dyed red, and fine leather, brought them.

Exo 35:24  Everyone who would make a contribution to יהוה of silver or bronze, brought it. And everyone with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it.

Exo 35:25  And all the wise-hearted women spun yarn with their hands, and brought what they had spun, the blue and the purple, the scarlet material, and the fine linen.

Exo 35:26  And all the women whose hearts lifted them up in wisdom spun the goats’ hair.

Exo 35:27  And the rulers brought shoham stones, and the stones to be set in the shoulder garment and in the breastplate,

Exo 35:28  and the spices and the oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.

Exo 35:29  The children of Yisra’ĕl brought a voluntary offering to יהוה, all the men and women whose hearts moved them to bring all kinds of work which יהוה, by the hand of Mosheh, had commanded to be done.

The response to this free will offering is that Moshe must stop them after a while because they were giving too much - Exo 36:6  Then Mosheh commanded and they sent this word throughout the camp, saying, “Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the contribution of the set-apart place.” And the people were withheld from bringing, Exo 36:7  for what they had was enough for all the work to be done, more than enough. Imagine the disappointment of those who eagerly wanted to give more but were forced to stop giving?

Psa 110:3  Your people volunteer in the day of Your might, In the splendours of set-apartness! From the womb, from the morning, You have the dew of Your youth!

And this is how this age will end before the coming of Messiah - Mat 24:14  “And this Good News of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come’’We will first have another mighty outpouring of the Set Apart Spirit - Joe 2:28  “And after this it shall be that I pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men dream dreams, your young men see visions. Joe 2:29  “And also on the male servants and on the female servants I shall pour out My Spirit in those days. Joe 2:30  “And I shall give signs in the heavens and upon the earth: blood and fire and columns of smoke, Joe 2:31  the sun is turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of יהוה. Joe 2:32  “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Name of יהוה shall be delivered.[b] For on Mount Tsiyon and in Yerushalayim there shall be an escape[c] as יהוה has said, and among the survivors whom יהוה calls. Footnotes: b Act_2:21, Rom_10:13. c Isa_4:2-3, Oba_1:17, Rev_14:1.

We need to take note of the kind of good news that will be proclaimed at ‘’this time’’- Mat 24:4  And יהושע answering, said to them, “Take heed that no one leads you astray. Mat 24:5  “For many shall come in My Name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they shall lead many astray. Mat 24:6  “And you shall begin to hear of fightings and reports of fightings. See that you are not troubled, for these have to take place, but the end is not yet. Mat 24:7  “For nation shall rise against nation, and reign against reign. And there shall be scarcities of food, and deadly diseases, and earthquakes in places. Mat 24:8  “And all these are the beginning of birth pains. Mat 24:9  “Then they shall deliver you up to affliction and kill you, and you shall be hated by all nations for My Name’s sake. Mat 24:10  “And then many shall stumble, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. Mat 24:11  “And many false prophets shall rise up and lead many astray. Mat 24:12  “And because of the increase in lawlessness, the love of many shall become cold. Mat 24:13  “But he who shall have endured to the end shall be saved.[a] Footnote: aSee Mat_10:22. Mat 24:14  “And this Good News of the reign shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come.

It is the kind of good news we are once again hearing in our days and it is rejected by many.

Pro 30:18  Three matters are too marvellous for me, And four which I do not understand:

Pro 30:19  The way of an eagle in the heavens, The way of a snake on a rock, The way of a ship in the heart of the sea, And the way of a man with a young woman.  (The Messiah with His Bride)

Rev 22:17  And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And he who hears, let him say, “Come!” And he who thirsts, come!

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Amein.
