Parashat 19 ‘’Trumah’’ Portion 70 Shemot 26:31-27:19 Ez 16:10-18, 60 2 Cor 6:14-18

Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.

ועשׂית פרכת – and you will make a curtain..

Once again, the scribes introduce this portion drawing our attention to a key issue to assist us in understanding the order and significance of the construction of the Tabernacle – the ‘’Parochet’’- or curtain – something which separates yet also provides privacy.

The word ‘’parochet’’ Strongs number 6532 – is a feminine noun meaning a curtain or a veil. This Hebrew word comes from an ancient unused root word ‘’ פּרך‘’ or ‘’perech’’ Strongs 6531- meaning "to fracture, break apart, that is severe and cruel’’.

These two Hebrew words are linked to a modern Hebrew word ‘’פִּרְכָה’.o’ ‘’pircha’’ which means ‘’a contradiction or inconsistency.’’

If we combine the meaning of these words we can come to the following conclusion – ‘’it is not normal for us to be separated from the presence of YHVH’’ it is inconsistent, harsh, and unbearable for us not to be in His Presence.

This was not man’s original state – they were not meant to be separated or covered in YHVH’s Presence. (Gen 2:25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, yet they were not ashamed.)

‘’Parochet’’ - Exo 26:31  “And you shall make a veil of blue (techlet)and purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, the work of a skilled workman, made with keruḇim.

Exo 26:32  “And you shall put it on the four columns of acacia wood overlaid with gold, their hooks of gold, upon four sockets of silver.

Exo 26:33  “And you shall hang the veil from the hooks, and shall bring the ark of the Witness(ארון העדות) there, behind the veil. And the veil shall make a separation for you between the Set-apart and the Most Set-apart Place.

Exo 26:34  “And you shall put the lid (הכפרת ''ha kaporet'') of atonement upon the ark of the Witness (ארון העדות)in the Most Set-apart Place.

Once again, we witness the ‘’seperation’’ of the most Set Apart place from the Set Apart place. We also notice the separation of the ‘’lid’’ from the Ark of Witness.

However, this is also a witness against us.

Deu 31:26  “Take this Book of the Torah, and you shall place it beside the ark of the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, and it shall be there as a witness against you, (בך לעד)

Deu 31:27  for I myself know your rebellion and your stiff neck. See, while I am still alive with you today, you have been rebellious against יהוה, then how much more after my death?

Strongs 5707 – (עד) ‘’ed’’ or ‘’ayin, daleth’’ a witness or testimony – ‘’ayin’’ is an eye and a‘’daleth’’ is a door – hence the term ‘’eye witness’.

This same Hebrew word has a paradoxical meaning:

Strongs 5708 – (עד) ‘’ed’’ menstruation- a filthy rag or stained garment.

Isa 64:6  And all of us have become as one unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as soiled ‘’rags’’ (Strongs 5708)

Note the enlarged letters (‘’ayin and daleth’’) in Deut 6:4 as they appear in the Torah scroll:

שְׁמַ֖ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֶחָֽד

Devout Jewish men who desire to be faithful witnesses of ‘’Ha Shem’’ face Jerusalem three times a day and recite the ‘’shema’’ under the cover of a ‘’talit’’ with ‘’tefillin’’ around your forehead and right hand.

Deu 6:4  “Hear, O Yisra’ěl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!

Deu 6:5  “And you shall love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your might.

Yahshua said this was the most important(הראשנה) commandment - Mar 12:29  And יהושע answered him, “The first of all the commands is, ‘Hear, O Yisra’ěl, יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one. Deu_6:4

Mar 12:30  ‘And you shall love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Deu_6:5. This is the first command.

Mar 12:31  “And the second, like it, is this, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ Lev_19:18. There is no other command greater than these.”

Mar 12:32  And the scribe said to Him, “Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one Elohim, and there is no other besides Him. Deu_4:35

Mar 12:33  “And to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the being, and with all the strength, Deu_6:5 and to love one’s neighbour as oneself, is more than all the ascending offerings and offerings.”

Mar 12:34  And when יהושע saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the reign of Elohim.” And after that no one was bold enough to question Him.

‘’The true ‘’witnesses’’ are those who have been drawn into His Presence and at the same time are profoundly aware that their own condition prevents them from seeing Him Face to Face. These witnesses believe and understand that their unclean condition will only separate them for ‘’seven days’’ (7000 years) when Messiah presents them blameless and perfect before the presence of His esteem with exceeding joy- Jude ( Yahudah) 24’ where they will finally see YHVH face to face.’’

We see this demonstrated in the Torah where a husband had to abstain from intimacy with his wife for seven days during her menstrual cycle.

Lev 15:19  ‘And when a woman has a discharge, and the discharge from her flesh is blood, she has to be in her separation for seven days.

Let us consider the significance of the other coverings and furniture in and outside the Tabernacle:

The focus of the Tabernacle is the ‘’ark of witness’’ which is separated from the rest of the Tabernacle. The significance of all the other furniture and fittings is to show us and prepare a way for us to enter once again into the Presence of YHVH.

Exo 26:35  “And you shall set the table outside the veil, and the lampstand opposite the table on the side of the Dwelling Place toward the south, and put the table on the north side.

Exo 26:36  “And you shall make a covering for the door of the Tent, of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver.

Exo 26:37  “And you shall make for the covering five columns of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, their hooks of gold, and you shall cast five sockets of bronze for them.

The book of Hebrews gives us some important insight into this matter:

Heb 8:5 (Tabernacle)… who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly, as Mosheh was warned when he was about to make the Tent. For He said, “See that you make all according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” Exo_25:40

Heb 8:6  But now He has obtained a more excellent service, inasmuch as He is also Mediator[a] of a better covenant, which was constituted on better promises. Footnote: aMessiah is called the Mediator of the New (Renewed) Covenant in Hebrews, in three places: Heb_8:6, Heb_9:15, Heb_12:24

Heb 8:7  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a secon- (note the word ‘’covenant is added and is not in the original text – the ‘’first’’ is referring to the first part or Set Apart place – see chap 9:2-3 and not the covenant).

Heb 8:8  For finding fault with them, He says, “See, the days are coming,” says יהוה, “when I shall conclude with the house of Yisra’ěl and with the house of Yehuḏah a renewed covenant,

Heb 8:9  not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Mitsrayim, because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them,” says יהוה.

Heb 8:10  “Because this is the covenant that I shall make with the house of Yisra’ěl after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws (Torah) in their mind, and I shall write them on their hearts, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.

Heb 8:11  “And they shall by no means teach each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ because they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.

Heb 8:12  “Because I shall forgive their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I shall no longer remember.”b Jer_31:31-34 Footnote: bSee also Heb_10:16-17

Heb 8:13  By saying, ‘renewed,’ He has made the first old. Now what becomes old and growing aged is near disappearing.

Heb 9:1  Now the first covenant indeed had regulations of worship and the earthly set-apart place.

Heb 9:2  For a Tent was prepared: the first part, in which was the lampstand, and the table, and the showbread, which is called the Set-apart Place.

Heb 9:3  And after the second veil, (‘’parochet’’) the part of the Tent which is called Most Set-apart,

Heb 9:4  to which belonged the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which were the golden pot that held the manna, and the rod of Aharon that budded, and the tablets of the covenant

Heb 9:5  and above it the keruḇim of esteem were overshadowing the place of atonement – about which we do not now speak in detail.

Heb 9:6  And these having been prepared like this, the priests always went into the first part of the Tent, accomplishing the services.

Heb 9:7  But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for sins of ignorance of the people,[a] Footnote: a Num_15:15-28

Heb 9:8  the Set-apart Spirit signifying this, that the way into the Most Set-apart Place was not yet made manifest while the first Tent has a standing,

Heb 9:9  which was a parable for the present time in which both gifts and slaughters are offered which are unable to perfect the one serving, as to his conscience,

Heb 9:10  only as to foods and drinks, and different washings, and fleshly regulations imposed until a time of setting matters straight.

Heb 9:11  But ( δέ - A primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.: - also, and or moreover) Messiah, having become a High Priest of the coming good matters, through the greater and more perfect Tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, (or of this 7000 years)

Heb 9:12  entered into the Most Set-apart Place once for all, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, having obtained everlasting redemption.

The Bronze Altar

Exo 27:1  “And you shall make a slaughter-place of acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide – the slaughter-place is square – and its height three cubits.

Exo 27:2  “And you shall make its horns on its four corners, its horns are of the same. And you shall overlay it with bronze.

Exo 27:3  “And you shall make its pots to receive its ashes, and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its fire holders. Make all its utensils of bronze.

Exo 27:4  “And you shall make a grating for it, a bronze network, and shall make on the network four bronze rings at its four corners,

Exo 27:5  and shall put it under the rim of the slaughter-place beneath, so that the network is halfway up the slaughter-place.

Exo 27:6  “And you shall make poles for the slaughter-place, poles of acacia wood, and shall overlay them with bronze.

Exo 27:7  “And the poles shall be put in the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the slaughter-place for lifting it.

Exo 27:8  “Make it hollow with boards. As it was shown to you on the mountain, so they are to make it.

The Court of the Tabernacle

Exo 27:9  “And you shall make the courtyard(חצר) of the Dwelling Place: for the south side screens for the courtyard made of fine woven linen, one hundred cubits long for one side,

Exo 27:10  and its twenty columns and their twenty sockets of bronze, the hooks of the columns and their bands of silver,

Exo 27:11  and so for the north side in length, screens one hundred cubits long, with its twenty columns and their twenty sockets of bronze, and the hooks of the columns and their bands of silver.

Exo 27:12  “And the width of the courtyard on the west side screens of fifty cubits, with their ten columns and their ten sockets.

Exo 27:13  “And the width of the courtyard on the east side fifty cubits.

Exo 27:14  “And the screens on one side of the gate fifteen cubits, with their three columns and their three sockets.

Exo 27:15  “And on the other side screens of fifteen cubits, with their three columns and their three sockets.

Exo 27:16  “And for the gate of the courtyard a covering twenty cubits long, of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver – four columns and four sockets.

Exo 27:17  “All the columns around the courtyard have bands of silver, their hooks silver and their sockets bronze.

Exo 27:18  “The length of the courtyard is one hundred cubits, and the width fifty by fifty, and the height five cubits, woven of fine linen thread, and its sockets of bronze.

Exo 27:19  “All the utensils of the Dwelling Place for all its service, all its pegs, and all the pegs of the courtyard, are bronze.

Brazen Altar:

We need to consider that the message of the ‘’Mishkan’’ is not only about our journey back into the Presence of YHVH but a separation between believers and believers. Eze 34:22  therefore I shall save My flock, and let them no longer be a prey. And I shall judge between sheep and sheep.

What kind of offering does YHVH desire? Its clear from scripture that YHVH did not accept all offerings brought to Him. Jer 6:20  “What need have I of frankincense from Sheḇa, and sweet cane from a distant land? Your ascending offerings are not acceptable, and your slaughterings have not been sweet to Me

Psa 51:17  The slaughterings of Elohim are a broken spirit, A heart broken and crushed, O Elohim, These You do not despise.

How many believers pray the ‘’sinners’ prayer’’ and go on to become ‘’disciples’’ or disciplined students of YHVH’s Word.

The Court of the Tabernacle:

Psa 84:1  How lovely are Your dwelling places,( משׁכנותיך) O יהוה of hosts!

Psa 84:2  My being has longed, and even fainted, For the courts(חצר) of יהוה; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living Ěl.- Num 24:5  “How good are your tents, O Ya‛aqoḇ, your dwellings, O Yisra’ěl!

How many Jewish and non -Jewish believers long and yearn for the coming together of the 12 tribes of Israel, the teaching of the Torah to all nations and the Millennial Temple and the restoration of the Temple service? Ezekiel 40-48

‘’Jesus’’/ Yahshua never came to do away with any of these things – Mat 5:17-19 – In fact He Himself will build the Millennial Temple – Zech 6:12 - and elevate all the Torah and its requirements and teach the Torah to all nations – Is 2:2-5

Religion has defiled us and separated us from His Torah:

Eze 16:10  “And I dressed you in embroidered work and gave you sandals of leather. And I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk.

Eze 16:11  “And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck.

Eze 16:12  “And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a crown of adorning on your head.

Eze 16:13  “Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, and honey, and oil. And you were exceedingly beautiful, and became fit for royalty.

Eze 16:14  “And your name went out among the nations because of your loveliness, for it was perfect, by My splendour which I had put on you,” declares the Master יהוה

Eze 16:15  “But you trusted in your own loveliness, and whored because of your name, and poured out your whorings on everyone passing by who would have it.

Eze 16:16  “And you took some of your garments and made multi-coloured high places for yourself, and whored on them – which should not have come about, nor shall it be.

Eze 16:17  “And you took your splendid adornments, of My gold and My silver that I gave you, and made for yourself images of a male and whored with them.

2Co 6:14  Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers.( ἄπιστος – an untrustworthy person) For what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness?

2Co 6:15  And what agreement has Messiah with Beliya‛al? Or what part does a believer(πιστος – trustworthy or faithful)) have with an unbeliever? (ἄπιστος - unfaithful)

2Co 6:16  And what union has the Dwelling Place of Elohim with idols? For you are a Dwelling Place of the living Elohim, as Elohim has said, “I shall dwell (ושכנתי) in them and walk among them, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.”a Lev_26:12 Footnote: aSee also Exo_29:45, Lev_26:12, Jer_31:1, Eze_37:27

2Co 6:17  Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says יהוה, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you. Isa_52:11

2Co 6:18  “And I shall be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says יהוה the Almighty.” Isa_43:6, Hos_1:10

Whomever YHVH purchases He purges- 1Co 6:20  For you were bought with a price, therefore esteem Elohim in your body and in your spirit,b which are of Elohim.  Isa 48:10   I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction. Mat 22:14  “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

This is a Prophetic warning to end time believers – because many believers have thought the Torah strange and have made it of little value, so YHVH will make them of little value.

Hos 8:12  “I have written for him numerous matters of My Torah – they were regarded as strange.

Jer 2:5  Thus said יהוה, “What unrighteousness have your fathers found in Me, that they have gone far from Me, and went after worthlessness, and became worthless?

A last days prophecy: - Joe 3:3  “And they have cast lots for My people, and have given a young man for a whore, and sold a girl for wine, and drank it.

Hosea Redeems His Wife – Yahshua too, will redeem us.

Hos 3:1  Then יהוה said to me, “Go again, love a woman loved by a friend, and an adulteress, according to the love of יהוה for the children of Yisra’ěl, though they are turning to other mighty ones and love their raisin cakes.” (hot cross buns?)

Hos 3:2  So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver, and one and one-half ḥomers of barley. (Ex 21:32 30 shekels for slave - Whenever an ancient Sumerian wanted to express the idea that something was worthless, they would say “It is considered a mere 30 shekels worth.”)

Hos 3:3  And I said to her, “You are to remain with me many days, you are not to whore, nor become any man’s, and so I shall also be towards you.”

Hos 3:4  For many days the children of Yisra’ěl are to remain without sovereign and without prince, and without slaughtering, and without pillar, and without shoulder garment or house idols.

Hos 3:5  Afterward the children of Yisra’ěl shall return, and seek יהוה their Elohim, and Dawiḏ their sovereign, and fear יהוה and His goodness, in the latter days.

In the latter days believers will be called upon to endure many hardships and humiliations. For this reason there will be a great falling away in those days.

2Th 2:1  As to the coming of our Master יהושע Messiah and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, brothers,

2Th 2:2  not to become easily unsettled in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as if the day of יהוה has come.

2Th 2:3  Let no one deceive you in any way, because the falling away is to come first, and the man of lawlessness[a] is to be revealed, the son of destruction, Footnote: aSee Dan_11:36-39

Pro 14:12  There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death .a Footnote: a Pro_16:25

Heb 10:39  But we are not of those who draw back to destruction, but of belief to the preservation of life.

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Amein
