Parashat 43 Portion 124 B’Midbar 34:1-35:8 Ezekiel 45:1-8 Col 1:13-14.

Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, who has made us set apart through His commandments and commanded us to actively study Torah. Please YHVH, our Elohim, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our mouths and in the mouths of all Your people Yisrael. May we and our offspring, and the offspring of Your people, the House of Israel, may we all, together, know Your Name and study Your Torah for the sake of fulfilling Your desire. Blessed are You, YHVH, Who teaches Torah to His people Israel. Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, Who chose us from all the nations and gave us the Torah. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah.

The prophetic context of this portion is significant. The prophetic pattern is that only after this wilderness journey of 42 stages are the tribes ready to cross the Yarden (Jordon) in the Promised Land. This same pattern appears to be the last day pattern of an end time exodus of called out Yisraelites.

Num 34:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

Num 34:2  “Command the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘When you come into the land of Kenaʽan, this is the land which falls to you as an inheritance, the land of Kenaʽan to its boundaries:

In the last days we will once again return to the land formerly known as Qanaan and the boundaries this time will fall for us in pleasant places.

Psa 16:5  יהוה is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You uphold my lot.

Psa 16:6  Boundary lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, a good inheritance is mine.

Num 34:3  ‘Then your southern border shall be from the Wilderness of Tsin along the border of Eḏom, and your southern border shall be eastward from the end of the Salt Sea.

Num 34:4  ‘Then your border shall turn from the southern side of the Ascent of Aqrabbim, continue to Tsin, and be on the south of Qaḏĕsh Barnĕa, and it shall go on to Ḥatsar Addar, and continue to Atsmon.

Num 34:5  ‘And the border shall turn from Atsmon to the wadi of Mitsrayim, and it shall end at the Sea.

Num 34:6  ‘As for the western border, you shall have the Great Sea for a border, this is your western border.

Num 34:7  ‘And this is your northern border: From the Great Sea you mark out your borderline to Mount Hor,

Num 34:8  from Mount Hor you mark out your border to the entrance of Ḥamath, and the edge of the border shall be toward Tseḏaḏ,

Num 34:9  and the border shall proceed to Ziphron, and it shall end at Ḥatsar Ěnan. This is your northern border.

Num 34:10  ‘And you shall mark out your eastern border from Ḥatsar Ěnan to Shepham,

Num 34:11  and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riḇlah on the east side of Ayin, and the border shall go down and reach to the eastern side of the Sea of Kinnereth.

Num 34:12  ‘And the border shall go down along the Yardĕn, and it shall end at the Salt Sea. This is your land with its surrounding boundaries.’ ”

Unfortunately scholars are not certain where some of these places are. There is a general consesnsus however that the borders described here in Numbers 34 and Ezekiel 47 define different but similar borders which include the whole of contemporary Lebanon, both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and Israel, except for the South Negev and Eilat. Small parts of Syria are also included.

Paul addresses the inheritance of the Set apart Yisraelites – not the church

Greeting

Eph 1:1  Sha’ul, an emissary of יהושע Messiah by the desire of Elohim, to the set-apart ones who are in Ephesos, and true to Messiah יהושע

Eph 1:2  Favour to you and peace from Elohim our Father and the Master יהושע Messiah.

Spiritual Blessings in Messiah

Eph 1:3  Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our Master יהושע Messiah, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Messiah,

Eph 1:4  even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be set-apart and blameless before Him, in love,a Footnote: aSee also 2Th_2:13

Eph 1:5  having previously ordained us to adoption as sons through יהושע Messiah to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His desire,

Eph 1:6  to the praise of the esteem of His favour with which He favoured us in the Beloved,

Eph 1:7  in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of trespasses, according to the riches of His favour,

Eph 1:8  which He has lavished on us in all wisdom and insight,

Eph 1:9  having made known to us the secret of His desire, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Him,

Eph 1:10  to administer at the completion of time, to gather together in one all in Messiah, both which are in the heavens and which are on earth, in Him,

Eph 1:11  in whom also we did obtain an inheritance, being previously ordained according to the purpose of Him working all matters according to the counsel of His desire,

Eph 1:12  for us to be the praise of His esteem – those having first trusted in Messiah,

Eph 1:13  in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your deliverance, in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Set-apart Spirit of promise,

Eph 1:14  who is the pledge of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His esteem.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

Eph 1:15  For this reason I too, having heard of your belief in the Master יהושע and your love for all the set-apart ones,

Eph 1:16  do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

Eph 1:17  that the Elohim of our Master יהושע Messiah, the Father of esteem, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

Eph 1:18  the eyes of your understandingb being enlightened, so that you know what is the expectation of His calling, and what are the riches of the esteem of His inheritance in the set-apart ones, Footnote: b Luk_24:45

Eph 1:19  and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who are believing, according to the working of His mighty strength,

Eph 1:20  which He wrought in the Messiah when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,

Eph 1:21  far above all rule and authority and power and mastery, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Eph 1:22  And He put all under His feet, Psa_8:6 and gave Him to be head over all, to the assembly,

Eph 1:23  which is His body, the completeness of Him who fills all in all.

One in Messiah

Eph 2:11  Therefore remember that you, once nationsc in the flesh, who are called ‘the uncircumcision’ by what is called ‘the circumcision’ made in the flesh by hands, Footnote: cSee 1Co_12:2

Eph 2:12  that at that time you were without Messiah, excluded from the citizenship of Yisra’ěl and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no expectation and without Elohim in the world.

Eph 2:13  But now in Messiah יהושע you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.

Eph 2:19  So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens of the set-apart ones and members of the household of Elohim,e Footnote: eSee Rom_11:17-24, Isa_14:1

Eph 2:20  having been built upon the foundation of the emissaries and prophets, יהושע Messiah Himself being chief corner-stone,

Eph 2:21  in whom all the building, being joined together, grows into a set-apart Dwelling Place in יהוה

Eph 2:22  in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of Elohim in the Spirit.

There seems to be a growing realization amongst the Jews that the Messiah cannot return unless there is some kind of return and gathering together of the 12 tribes of Yisrael. There are few rabbi’s who are very busy trying to locate possible “lost tribes” in order to bring them back to the land of Yisrael.

Num 34:13  And Mosheh commanded the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, “This is the land which you inherit by lot, which יהוה has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe.

Num 34:14  “For the tribe of the children of Re’uḇĕn according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gaḏ according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance. And the half-tribe of Menashsheh has received its inheritance.

Num 34:15  “The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Yardĕn of Yeriḥo eastward, toward the sunrise.”

When you entered the gates of the temple your back was turned towards the east or the place where the sun rises. Perhaps this was because many of the pagan and occultic practices had elements of sunworship in them.

Num 34:16  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

Num 34:17  “These are the names of the men who divide the land among you as an inheritance: Elʽazar the priest, and Yehoshua son of Nun.

Num 34:18  “And take one leader of every tribe to divide the land for the inheritance.

Num 34:19  “And these are the names of the men. From the tribe of Yehuḏah: Kalĕḇ son of Yephunneh.

Num 34:20  “And from the tribe of the children of Shimʽon: Shemu’ĕl son of Ammihuḏ.

Num 34:21  “From the tribe of Binyamin: Eliḏaḏ son of Kislon.

Num 34:22  “And a leader from the tribe of the children of Dan: Buqqi son of Yoḡli.

Num 34:23  “From the sons of Yosĕph: a leader from the tribe of the children of Menashsheh, Ḥanni’ĕl son of Ěphoḏ.

Num 34:24  “And a leader from the tribe of the children of Ephrayim: Qemu’ĕl son of Shiphtan.

Num 34:25  “And a leader from the tribe of the children of Zeḇulun: Elitsaphan son of Parnaḵ.

Num 34:26  “And a leader from the tribe of the children of Yissasḵar: Palti’ĕl son of Azzan.

Num 34:27  “And a leader from the tribe of the children of Ashĕr: Aḥihuḏ son of Shelomi.

Num 34:28  “And a leader from the tribe of the children of Naphtali: Peḏah’ĕl son of Ammihuḏ.”

Num 34:29  These are the ones יהוה commanded to divide the inheritance among the children of Yisra’ĕl in the land of Kenaʽan.

In the future we can expect the Ruach to do a deep work in the hearts of Yisrael. There will much repenting and deep heart searching that will bring about a unity and love amongst the tribes never yet witnessed in history.

A study of each of the names of these tribes reveals an important kind of bond that exists between each tribe.

  • Yahudah  means “Now I will praise YHVH.” (Gen 29:35)
  • Reuenb means “Surely YHVH has looked upon my affliction.” (Gen 29:32)
  • Gad means “What good fortune.” (Gen 30:11)
  • Asher means “Happy am I.” (Gen 30:13)
  • Naphtali means With great wrestlings have I wrestled.” (Gen 30:8)
  • Menashsheh means “For Elohim [said he], ‘has made me foreget all my toil.’” (Gen 41:51)
  • Shimon means “ Because YHVH has heard that I was hated.” (Gen 29:33)
  • Levi means “ Now this time will my master be joined to me.” (Gen 29:34)
  • Yissaskar means “Elohim has given me my wages.” (Gen 30:18)
  • Zebulun means “Elohim has endowed me with a good gift, now my master will dwell with me.” (Gen 30:20)
  • Yosef means “YHVH shall add to me.” (Gen 30:24)
  • Benyamin means “You shall have this son. (Gen 35:17–18)

Combined the names tell the following story: Now will I praise YHVH. Surely YHVH has looked upon my affliction. What good fortune. Happy am I. With great wrestlings have I wrestled and I have prevailed. For Elohim has made me forget all my toil because YHVH has heard that I was despised. Now this time will Yahshua be joined unto me. Elohim has given me my reward. Elohim has endowed me with a good gift. Now Yahshua will dwell with me. YHVH shall add to me the son of His Right Hand.

The restoration of the land to the tribes will bring restoration to the world -

Eze 36:22  “Therefore say to the house of Yisra’ěl, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Yisra’ěl, but for My set-apart Name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.

Num 35:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh in the desert plains of Mo’aḇ by the Yardĕn of Yeriḥo, saying,

Num 35:2  “Command the children of Yisra’ĕl that they shall give the Lĕwites cities to dwell in from the inheritance of their possession. Also give the Lĕwites open land around the cities.

Num 35:3  “And they shall have the cities to dwell in, and their open land for their cattle, and for their herds, and for all their livestock.

Num 35:4  “And the open land of the cities which you give the Lĕwites are from the wall of the city outward a thousand cubits all around.

Num 35:5  “And you shall measure outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits. And the city is in the middle. This is to them the open land for the cities.

Num 35:6  “And the cities which you give to the Lĕwites are the six cities of refuge, which you give to him who killed someone to flee to, and to these you add forty-two cities.

Num 35:7  “All the cities which you give to the Lĕwites are forty-eight, these with their open land.

Num 35:8  “And the cities which you give are from the possession of the children of Yisra’ĕl. From the larger tribe you give many, from the smaller you give few, each one gives some of its cities to the Lĕwites, in proportion to the inheritance that each inherits.”

We can assume that the Levites will also be engaged in running cities, making sure that disputes between brothers amongst the tribes are settled. The Levites will be responsible for guarding and teaching Torah among the tribes.

The Levites will also have land for cultivation and keeping of livestock. The Levites may have even be tradesmen like carpenters and builders doing maintenance and work in the temple and local city synagogues.

The Set Apart District

Eze 45:1  “And when you divide the land by lot into inheritance, offer a contribution to יהוה, a set-apart portion of the land, in length twenty-five thousand cubits long, and in width ten thousand, this being set-apart throughout its border all around.

Eze 45:2  “Of this a square plot is to be for the set-apart place, five hundred by five hundred, with fifty cubits around it for an open space.

Eze 45:3  “And from this measure you are to measure: twenty-five thousand cubits long and ten thousand wide. And in it is to be the set-apart place, the Most Set-apart Place.

Eze 45:4  “This is to be a set-apart portion of the land, belonging to the priests, the attendants of the set-apart place, who draw near to serve יהוה. And it shall be a place for their houses and set-apart ground for the set-apart place.

Eze 45:5  “And twenty-five thousand cubits in length and ten thousand in width is for the Lěwites, the attendants of the House, for them for a possession, twenty rooms.

Eze 45:6  “And give the city as possession: five thousand cubits wide and twenty-five thousand long, beside the contribution of the set-apart portion – it belongs to all the house of Yisra’ěl.

The Portion for the Prince

Eze 45:7  “And the prince is to have a portion on one side and the other of the set-apart contribution and of the possession of the city. And bordering on the set-apart contribution and the possession of the city, on the west side westward and on the east side eastward, and the length alongside one of the portions, from the west border to the east border.

Eze 45:8  “Of the land this is his possession in Yisra’ěl, and My princes shall no longer oppress My people. And they shall give the land to the house of Yisra’ěl, according to their tribes.”

Eze 36:23  “And I shall set apart My great Name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst. And the nations shall know that I am יהוה,” declares the Master יהוה, “when I am set-apart in you before their eyes.

Eze 36:24  “And I shall take you from among the nations, and I shall gather you out of all lands, and I shall bring you into your own land.

Eze 36:25  “And I shall sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean – from all your filthiness and from all your idols I cleanse you.

Eze 36:26  “And I shall give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. And I shall take the heart of stone out of your flesh, and I shall give you a heart of flesh,

Eze 36:27  and put My Spirit within you.a And I shall cause you to walk in My laws and guard My right-rulings and shall do them. Footnote: aSee Eze_11:19-20, Eze_37:6-14, Eze_39:29

Eze 36:28  “And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. And you shall be My people, and I shall be your Elohim.

Eze 36:29  “And I shall save you from all your uncleannesses. And I shall call for the grain and increase it, and I shall bring no scarcity of food upon you.

Eze 36:30  “And I shall increase the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of scarcity of food among the nations.

Eze 36:31  “And you shall remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good. And you shall loathe yourselves in your own eyes, for your crookednesses and your abominations.

Eze 36:32  “Not for your sake am I acting,” declares the Master יהוה, “let it be known to you. Be ashamed and blush for your ways, O house of Yisra’ěl!”

Eze 36:33  Thus said the Master יהוה, “On the day that I cleanse you from all your crookednesses, I shall cause the cities to be inhabited, and the ruined places shall be rebuilt,

Eze 36:34  and the land that was laid waste tilled instead of being a ruin before the eyes of all who pass by.

Eze 36:35  “And they shall say, ‘This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Ěḏen. And the wasted, the deserted, and the destroyed cities are now walled and inhabited.’

Eze 36:36  “Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, יהוה, have rebuilt the destroyed places and planted what was laid waste. I, יהוה, have spoken it, and I shall do it.”

Eze 36:37  Thus said the Master יהוה, “Once again I shall let the house of Yisra’ěl inquire of Me to do for them: I shall increase their men like a flock.

Eze 36:38  “As a set-apart flock, as the flock at Yerushalayim at her appointed times, so shall the wasted cities be filled with flocks of men. And they shall know that I am יהוה.” ’ ”

Division of the Land

Eze 47:13  Thus said the Master יהוה, “This is the border by which you inherit the land, according to the twelve tribes of Yisra’ěl, two portions for Yosěph.

Eze 47:14  “And you shall inherit it, each one the same as his brother. For I lifted My hand in an oath to give it to your fathers, and this land shall fall to you as your inheritance.

Eze 47:15  “And this is the border of the land on the north: from the Great Sea, the way of Ḥethlon, as one goes to Tseḏaḏ,

Eze 47:16  "Ḥamath, Běrothah, Siḇrayim, which is between the border of Dammeseq and the border of Ḥamath, Ḥatsar Hattiḵon, which is on the border of Ḥawran.

Eze 47:17  “And the border shall be from the Sea to Ḥatsar Ěnan, the border of Dammeseq, and on the north toward the north is the border of Ḥamath. This is the north side.

Eze 47:18  “And the east side is from between Ḥawran, and Dammeseq, and Gil‛aḏ, and the land of Yisra’ěl; the Yarděn, from the border to the eastern side of the sea you are to measure. This is the east side.

Eze 47:19  “And the south side toward the South is from Tamar to the waters of Meriḇah by Qaḏěsh, along the Wadi to the Great Sea. This is the south side toward the South.

Eze 47:20  “And the west side is the Great Sea, from the border to the point opposite Ḥamath. This is the west side.

Eze 47:21  “And you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Yisra’ěl.

Eze 47:22  “And it shall be that you divide it by lot as an inheritance for yourselves, and for the strangers who sojourn in your midst and who bear children among you. And they shall be to you as native-born among the children of Yisra’ěl – with you they have an inheritance in the midst of the tribes of Yisra’ěl.a Footnote: a Isa_14:1, Isa_56:6-8, Rom_11:17-26, Eph_2:19, Eph_3:6, Rev_21:12

Eze 47:23  “And it shall be that in whatever tribe the stranger sojourns, there you give him his inheritance,” declares the Master יהוה

Finally

Isa 8:12  “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.

The definition of a conspiracy is a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.

The prophet says we must have a different understanding of evil events taking place around us.

The so called conspiracies are created by YHVH to bring an end to all evil and injustice in the world so that His people can return Home – back to the land.

Isa 45:3  And I shall give you the treasures of darkness and hoarded wealth of secret places, so that you know that I, יהוה, who are calling you by your name, am the Elohim of Yisra’ěl.

Isa 45:4  For the sake of Ya‛aqoḇ My servant, and of Yisra’ěl My chosen, I also call you by your name, I give you a title, though you have not known Me.

Isa 45:5  I am יהוה, and there is none else – there is no Elohim besides Me. I gird you, though you have not known Me,

Isa 45:6  so that they know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none but Me. I am יהוה, and there is none else,

Isa 45:7  forming light and creating darkness, making peace and creating evil. I, יהוה, do all these.’

(Blessed are you Yahveh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn
