Parashat 19 – “Terumah” - an uplifted set apart offering.

Shemot/ Ex 25:1 – 27:19

Yoch/Joh 12:32  “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, shall draw all (men) unto Myself.”

The suffering our Messiah endured through the cruelty of men who lifted him up (terumah) on an execution stake became the very act that reconciled us to YHVH.

There can be no greater gift – “terumah” ever given to mankind, for mankind, by YHVH than this one act.

From before the foundation of the world everything has pointed to this One Offering that Yahshua, himself would be that would cause him to become the only way truth and life to the Father,  the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth – YHVH.
The Lamb slain before the foundation of the world –Rev 13:8
The Torah points us to Messiah as the greatest gift – terumah- of all.
More information is given to us about the Tabernacle than any other subject in the Torah.

This is understandable if we realize the purpose of this Tabernacle or tent of meeting was so that Elohim could dwell in the midst of His people.

Some have referred to the Tabernacle (Mishkan) as a Royal Marriage Tent, a place where Yisrael/Israel the bride prepares and purifies herself to make herself ready for her Bridegroom.

The sages often teach about the Tabernacle in the context of the Song of Songs.

We need to ask ourselves, "How important is it for us to understand the building of the Tabernacle?"  YHVH only used six chapters of His precious Torah to explain His total creation.  In these six chapters, He also gave insight on the sons of Adam, how man fell, and the judgment upon His creation, man, at the time of Noach.

In contrast, YHVH used sixteen chapters in the Torah to give us understanding of the Tabernacle, its construction, and the services His people were to perform before Him. YHVH was making it very clear that He was seeking a presence amongst His people. He has never changed His mind. He is the same yesterday today and forever.

When the religious system of this world was about to stone Stephen, he spoke of the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, if they understood what the tabernacle represented they would never have stoned him.

"Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed, speaking unto Moshe, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen."   Acts 7:44

Stephen spoke of the Tabernacle as the Tabernacle of Witness. You can kill the visionary but not the vision. The Tabernacle was given as a spiritual witness of YHVH's eternal redemption for man, when the Ruach (Spirit) of YHVH shows us the connection between the tabernacle with Messiah, the eternal counsel of YHVH’s redemptive wisdom becomes a very precious reality to us.

Blessing for the Torah:
Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-O’lam, asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim,
v’natan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim , King of the Universe,
you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.
Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

Shemot/Exo 25:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

Exo 25:2  “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, that they take up a contribution (terumah) for Me. From everyone whose heart moves him you shall take up My contribution.

We must pay special attention to the kind of giving our Father desires, the leaders were only to take those gifts that were given with a good heart (kavanah).

We are taught in the “shema” that we want to love YHVH with all of our hearts and beings and material possessions (might).

2Co 9:7  Let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not of grief or of necessity, for Elohim loves a joyous giver.
2Co 9:8  And Elohim is able to make all favour overflow toward you, that you, always having all you need in every way, have plenty for every good work.

(Note: my own emphasis is added to text for emphasis)

Exo 25:3  “And this is the contribution which you take up from them: gold, and silver, and bronze,
Exo 25:4  and blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine linen, and goats’ hair,
Exo 25:5  and rams’ skins dyed red, and fine leather, and acacia wood,
Exo 25:6  oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense,
Exo 25:7  shoham stones, and stones to be set in the shoulder garment and in the breastplate.

Each one of these materials that was given as an uplifted set apart gift has significant instruction for bringing about a Messianic reality on earth and in our lives.

Gold represents Kingship, Yahshua is the king of kings; silver represents redemption; bronze represents judgment; Yahshua took our judgement upon himself; blue represents heaven, Yahshua came to bring heaven to earth.  Purple speaks of royality, Yahshua is preparing a “Royal Priesthood”. Linen speaks of Messiah’s purity and that of his bride. Goats hair speaks of the sin offering of Yom Kippur. The rams skin dyed red speaks of Messiah’s substitutionary offering of himself.

The Badger skin speaks of an unattractive outward appearance – “…He has no form or splendour that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should desire Him –

Yesh/Isa 53:3  despised and rejected by men, a man of pains and knowing sickness. And as one from whom the face is hidden, being despised, and we did not consider Him.

Acacia or “shittim” wood speaks of the execution stake. (It’s interesting that the gematria of “shittim” and “satan” are the same ie 359) . Yahshua came to undo the works of ha satan.

Oil represents anointing and beauty, The name Mashiach means anointed one or the Oiled One.

The spices would include Myrrh (stacte) frankincense, onycha and galbanum. These were harvested from trees that were either punctured or had branches broken and the sap that came out as the result of the trauma would be taken and crystalized and crushed.

The fine leather would also later be used for the making of the Torah scrolls.

The precious stones would come to represent the family of Yahshua the 12 tribes of Yisrael.

Shemot/Exo 25:8  “And they shall make Me a Set-apart Place, and I shall dwell in their midst.

The verse does not say, "and I will dwell within it," but "and I will dwell within them"--within each and every one of them (betocham) Midrash Tanchuma, Naso 16

Father has always wanted to dwell in His people. First He chose the tabernacle and then He chose His son Yahshua our Messiah.

There is an interesting progression of revelation given in the following Torah portions. After the giving of the Torah in parashat Yitro, we have parashat Mishpatim which speaks about how only a bondservant will feel welcome in YHVH’s family and how such a person will want to live their lives, in this week’s parashat Terumah the Torah instructs us on how we can draw closer to YHVH.

Shemot/Exo 25:9  “According to all that I show you – the pattern of the Dwelling Place and the pattern of all its furnishings – make it exactly so.
Exo 25:10  “And they shall make (ve asu aron) an ark of acacia wood two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. (Note the use of the plural – this is our joint inheritance – Eph 1:18)
Exo 25:11  “And you shall overlay it with clean gold, inside and outside you shall overlay it. And you shall make on it a moulding of gold all around.
Exo 25:12  “And you shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four corners, two rings on one side, and two rings on the other side.
Exo 25:13  “And you shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold,
Exo 25:14  and shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to lift up the ark by them.
Exo 25:15  “The poles are in the rings of the ark, they are not taken from it.
Exo 25:16  “And into the ark you shall put the Witness which I give you.

The central feature of the Tabernacle was the ark, which housed the two tablets containing the 10 sayings. The sages say Yisrael is only a nation by virtue of the Torah. Yisraelites carry the very presence and light of YHVH to the nations because the Torah has been hidden and treasured in their hearts.

The Hebrew word “ark” is “aron” which comes from the word “light” for the Torah is the light of the world. When Messiah, the Torah in the flesh came he was called the light of the world because the Torah was in him. Messiah’s so called “pre –existence” was in the form of the Torah and in the mind of YHVH before the foundation of the world.

The ark is the heart of the Tabernacle; this is where the presence of YHVH dwells. The total circumference of the ark is 8 cubits. Eight is the number of new beginnings. When the Father meets with us He always will touch and change our hearts first. This is the place where YHVH chose to speak to Moshe.

It is important to note that the staves and rings attached to the Ark of the Covenant were intended to remind us that the ark could be compared to a true follower who would be like a pilgrim on this earth always ready to go where YHVH directs and leads. We travel on the shoulders of a priesthood.

There is great mystery and controversy surrounding the disappearance and possible rediscovery of the ark. Who knows, it may well be found again before the return of Messiah.

Apocrypha: 2 Macabees Chapter 2

1 It is also found in the records, that Jeremy the prophet commanded them that were carried away to take of the fire, as it hath been signified:
2 And how that the prophet, having given them the law, charged them not to forget the commandments of the Lord, and that they should not err in their minds, when they see images of silver and gold, with their ornaments.
3 And with other such speeches exhorted he them, that the law should not depart from their hearts.
4 It was also contained in the same writing, that the prophet, being warned of God, commanded the tabernacle and the ark to go with him, as he went forth into the mountain, where Moses climbed up, and saw the heritage of God.
5 And when Jeremy came thither, he found an hollow cave, wherein he laid the tabernacle, and the ark, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door.
6 And some of those that followed him came to mark the way, but they could not find it.
7 Which when Jeremy perceived, he blamed them, saying, As for that place, it shall be unknown until the time that God gather his people again together, and receive them unto mercy. (Emphasis added)
8 Then shall the Lord shew them these things, and the glory of the Lord shall appear, and the cloud also, as it was shewed under Moses, and as when Solomon desired that the place might be honourably sanctified.

Aliyah Sheni 25:17-30
Shemot/Exo 25:17  “And you shall make a lid of atonement of clean gold, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.
Exo 25:18  “And you shall make two keruḇim of gold, make them of beaten work, at the two ends of the lid of atonement.
Exo 25:19  “And make one keruḇ at one end, and the other keruḇ at the other end. Make the keruḇim from the lid of atonement, at its two ends.
Exo 25:20  “And the keruḇim shall be spreading out their wings above, covering the lid of atonement with their wings, with their faces toward each other, the faces of the keruḇim turned toward the lid of atonement.
Exo 25:21  “And you shall put the lid of atonement on top of the ark, and put into the ark the Witness which I give you.

The sages compare this lid to the “nefesh” or being of a man. We note how this whole lid was made from one piece of gold, the lid plus the two kerubim. This reminds us of our how closely linked the atonement of man is with the ministry of messengers.

Ivrim/Heb 1:14  Are they not all serving spirits sent out to attend those who are about to inherit deliverance?

Exo 25:22  “And I shall meet (Hebrew means to meet by appointment only) with you there, and from above the lid of atonement, from between the two keruḇim which are on the ark of the Witness, I shall speak to you all that which I command you concerning the children of Yisra’ĕl.

In the Song of Songs the lid of the ark can be compared to the “palanquin” A palanquin was an ancient portable room or enclosure carried on the shoulder of slaves. This was used to transport royalty.  The palanquin is where the king and his queen enjoyed each other’s company. There was only room for the two of them.

Song of Songs 3:9 and 10:  Sovereign Shelomoh made himself A litter (S668 palanquin) of the wood of Leḇanon;

He made its posts of silver, Its support of gold, its seat of purple, Within it was decked with love By the daughters of Yerushalayim.

Exo 25:23  “And you shall make a table of acacia wood two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high.
Exo 25:24  “And you shall overlay it with clean gold, and shall make a moulding of gold all around,
Exo 25:25  and shall make for it a rim of a handbreadth all around, and shall make a gold moulding for the rim all around.
Exo 25:26  “And you shall make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings on the four corners that are at its four legs.
Exo 25:27  “The rings are close to the rim, as holders for the poles to lift the table.
Exo 25:28  “And you shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, and the table shall be lifted with them.
Exo 25:29  “And you shall make its dishes, and its ladles, and its jars, and its bowls for pouring. Make them of clean gold.
Exo 25:30  “And you shall put the showbread on the table before Me, continually.  (Bread is called the “lechem panim” or bread of faces – why?)

Aliyah Shlishi 25:31-26:14
Shemot/Exo 25:31  “And you shall make a lampstand of clean gold – the lampstand is made of beaten work. Its base and its shaft, its cups, its ornamental knobs and blossoms are from it,
Exo 25:32  and six branches shall come out of its sides: three branches of the lampstand out of one side, and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side;
Exo 25:33  three cups made like almond flowers on one branch, with ornamental knob and blossom, and three cups made like almond flowers on the other branch, with ornamental knob and blossom – so for the six branches coming out of the lampstand.
Exo 25:34  “And on the lampstand itself are four cups made like almond flowers, with ornamental knob and blossom,
Exo 25:35  and a knob under the first two branches of the same, and a knob under the second two branches of the same, and a knob under the third two branches of the same, according to the six branches coming out of the lampstand.
Exo 25:36  “Their knobs and their branches are of the same – all of it one beaten work of clean gold.
Exo 25:37  “And you shall make seven lamps for it, and they shall mount its lamps so that they give light in front of it.
Exo 25:38  “And its snuffers and their trays are of clean gold.
Exo 25:39  “It is made of a talent of clean gold, with all these utensils.

The Menorah had a central stem with six branches and 22 cups like Almond flowers. There are many spiritual lessons we can learn from the Menorah.

Firstly we believe that it was the light of the set apart place.

This light like the Ruach (Spirit) of YHVH assisted the priest with their ministry. This light or ministry of the Ruach is explained by the prophet Yeshayahu/Isaiah. (The Ruach communicates to us through the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet – Torah).

The six branches on both sides of the middle one (plus the middle one)symbolizes “the seven Spirits of Elohim”

Yesh/Isa 11:1  And a Rod shall come forth from the stump of
Yishai, and a Sprout from his roots shall bear fruit.  (Messiah)
Isa 11:2  The Spirit of יהוה shall rest upon Him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of יהוה,
Isa 11:3  and shall make Him breathe in the fear of יהוה. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears.

In Revelation 1:4; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6, it is written, “Yoḥanan, to the seven assemblies that are in Asia: Favour to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is coming, and from the seven Spirits that are before His throne,”…. “And to the messenger of the assembly in Sardis write, ‘He who has the seven Spirits of Elohim and the seven stars, says this……” … “And out of the throne came lightnings, and thunders, and voices. And seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of Elohim.”…… “And I looked and saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing, as having been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of Elohim sent out into all the earth.”

The menorah was made from one piece of solid gold.

We note how Shaul/Paul refers to this one- ness aspect when describing the gifts and fruit of the Ruach.

1Co 12:4  And there are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

Gal 5:22  “But the fruit of the Spirit is (the word fruit is used in the singular) love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustworthiness, Gal 5:23  gentleness, self-control..”

It symbolizes the Torah

It is written in Tehillim/Psalm 119:105, Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

And in Proverbs 6:23, it is written, “For the command is a lamp, And the Torah a light, And reproofs of discipline a way of life,”

Shemot/Exo 25:40  “So see, and do according to the pattern which was shown to you on the mountain.
The word pattern means "plan, form, construction".  It also means "meaning".  YHVH revealed the meaning of His Tabernacle to Moshe.  As we come to an understanding of the meanings YHVH built into His Tabernacle, then His way is opened unto us.  The writer of the letter to the Ivrim/Hebrews gives us further understanding of what YHVH meant when He showed Moshe the pattern for the Tabernacle.

Ivr/Heb 8:5  who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly, as Mosheh was warned when he was about to make the Tent. For He said, “See that you make all according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

YHVH revealed all things concerning the Tabernacle nothing was to be of Moshe's design, and there was to be no earthly architect on the job. Everything was to be of YHVH's design.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Tabernacle is that all the materials to build the Tabernacle had been brought from Mitsrayim/Egypt.

Exo 26:1  “And make the Dwelling Place with ten curtains of fine woven linen and blue and purple and scarlet material. Make them, with keruḇim, the work of a skilled workman.
Exo 26:2  “The length of each curtain is twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits, all the curtains having one measure.
Exo 26:3  “Five curtains are joined to each other, and five curtains are joined to each other.
Exo 26:4  “And you shall make loops of blue on the edge of the end curtain on one set, and do the same on the edge of the end curtain of the second set.
Exo 26:5  “Make fifty loops in the one curtain and make fifty loops on the edge of the end curtain of the second set, the loops being opposite to each other.
Exo 26:6  “And you shall make fifty hooks of gold, and shall join the curtains together with the hooks, and the Dwelling Place shall be one.
Exo 26:7  “And you shall make curtains of goats’ hair, for a tent over the Dwelling Place, make eleven curtains.
Exo 26:8  “The length of each curtain is thirty cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits, one measure to the eleven curtains.
Exo 26:9  “And you shall join the five curtains by themselves, and the six curtains by themselves, and you shall double over the six curtains at the front of the Tent.
Exo 26:10  “And you shall make fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in one set, and fifty loops on the edge of the curtain of the second set.
Exo 26:11  “And you shall make fifty bronze hooks, and put the hooks into the loops, and join the tent together, and it shall be one.
Exo 26:12  “And the overlapping part of the rest of the curtains of the Tent, the half curtain that remains, shall hang over the back of the Dwelling Place.
Exo 26:13  “And a cubit on one side
and a cubit on the other side, of what
remains of the length of the curtains
of the Tent, is to hang over the sides
of the Dwelling Place, on this side and
on that side, to cover it.
Exo 26:14  “And you shall make a
covering of ram skins dyed red for
the Tent, and a covering of fine
leather above that.

The 10 curtains of the tabernacle symbolized the 10 sayings with which YHVH created the world (Avot 5:1) We can also compare these 10 curtains to the 10 sayings YHVH gave to Moseh on Mount Sinai. It is these sayings that helps us to understand that all things are working together to accomplish the purposes of YHVH.

This truth is further illustrated by the strands of material fibre that were used to make the coverings. In Hebrew thinking all things are connected in some way or the other. (kesher)

Aliyah Reviee 26:15-30
Shemot/Exo 26:15  “And for the Dwelling Place you shall make the boards of acacia wood, standing up.
Exo 26:16  “Ten cubits is the length of a board, and a cubit and a half the width of each board,
Exo 26:17  two tenons in each board for binding one to another. Do the same for all the boards of the Dwelling Place.
Exo 26:18  “And you shall make the boards for the Dwelling Place, twenty boards for the south side,
Exo 26:19  and make forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards, two sockets under each of the boards for its two tenons.
Exo 26:20  “And for the second side of the Dwelling Place, on the north side, twenty boards,
Exo 26:21  and their forty sockets of silver, two sockets under each of the boards.
Exo 26:22  “And for the extreme parts of the Dwelling Place, westward, make six boards,
Exo 26:23  and make two boards for the two back corners of the Dwelling Place.
Exo 26:24  “And they are double beneath and similarly they are complete to the top, to the one ring. So it is for both of them, they are for the two corners.
Exo 26:25  “And they shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets – two sockets under the one board, and two sockets under the other board.
Exo 26:26  “And you shall make bars of acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the Dwelling Place,
Exo 26:27  and five bars for the boards on the
other side of the Dwelling Place, and five bars for the boards of the side of the Dwelling Place,
for the extreme parts westward,
Exo 26:28  with the middle bar in the midst of the boards, going through from end to end.
Exo 26:29  “And overlay the boards with gold,
and make their rings of gold as holders for the
bars, and overlay the bars with gold.
Exo 26:30  “And you shall raise up the Dwelling Place according to its pattern which you
were shown on the mountain.

We must note that the walls of the tabernacle were huge acacia planks covered with gold. These planks stood upright and were 10 cubits long and one and a half cubits wide. Remember a cubit is about a half a metre (18inches) and one cubit thick. So you can imagine that this was a very solid and very heavy kind of wall.

Aliyah Chamishi 26:31-37
This solid 10 by 30 cubit structure was divided by a curtain (veil) that made it possible for us to enter into the set apart place. These veils will one day be completely removed.
Shemot/Exo 26:31  “And you shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, the work of a skilled workman, made with keruḇim.
Exo 26:32  “And you shall put it on the four columns of acacia wood overlaid with gold, their hooks of gold, upon four sockets of silver.
Exo 26:33  “And you shall hang the veil from the hooks, and shall bring the ark of the Witness there, behind the veil. And the veil shall make a separation for you between the Set-apart and the Most Set-apart Place.

Diagram of the Set apart place

Exo 26:34  “And you shall put the lid of atonement upon the ark of the Witness in the Most Set-apart Place.
Exo 26:35  “And you shall set the table outside the veil, and the lampstand opposite the table on the side of the Dwelling Place toward the south, and put the table on the north side.
Exo 26:36  “And you shall make a covering for the door of the Tent, of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver.
Exo 26:37  “And you shall make for the covering five columns of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, their hooks of gold, and you shall cast five sockets of bronze for them.

Note another material covering was used for the entrance to the tabernacle.

Aliyah Shishi 27:1-8
Shemot/Exo 27:1  And you shall make an altar of acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide – the altar is square – and its height three cubits.
Exo 27:2  “And you shall make its horns on its four corners, its horns are of the same. And you shall overlay it with bronze.
Exo 27:3  “And you shall make its pots to receive its ashes, and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its fire holders. Make all its utensils of bronze.
Exo 27:4  “And you shall make a grating for it, a bronze network, and shall make on the network four bronze rings at its four corners,
Exo 27:5  and shall put it under the rim of the altar beneath, so that the network is halfway up the altar.
Exo 27:6  “And you shall make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and shall overlay them with bronze.
Exo 27:7  “And the poles shall be put in the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar for lifting it.
Exo 27:8  “Make it hollow with boards. As it was shown to you on the mountain, so they are to make it.

Aliyah Sheviee 27:9-19

Shemot/Exo 27:9  “And you shall make the courtyard of the Dwelling Place: for the south side screens for the courtyard made of fine woven linen, one hundred cubits long for
one side,
Exo 27:10  and its twenty columns and their
twenty sockets of bronze, the hooks of the
columns and their bands of silver,
Exo 27:11  and so for the north side in length, screens one hundred cubits long, with its twenty columns and their twenty sockets of bronze, and the hooks of the columns and their bands of silver.
Exo 27:12  “And the width of the courtyard on the west side screens of fifty cubits, with their ten columns and their ten sockets.
Exo 27:13  “And the width of the courtyard on the east side fifty cubits.
Exo 27:14  “And the screens on one side of the gate fifteen cubits, with their three columns and their three sockets.
Exo 27:15  “And on the other side screens of fifteen cubits, with their three columns and their three sockets.
Exo 27:16  “And for the gate of the courtyard a covering twenty cubits long, of blue and purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver – four columns and four sockets.
Exo 27:17  All the columns around the courtyard have bands of silver, their hooks silver and their sockets bronze.
Exo 27:18  “The length of the courtyard is one hundred cubits, and the width fifty by fifty, and the height five cubits, woven of fine linen thread, and its sockets of bronze.
Exo 27:19  All the utensils of the Dwelling Place for all its service, all its pegs, and all the pegs of the courtyard, are bronze.

The curtains that enclose the Outer Court were made of fine twined linen.  Linen is the
symbol of righteousness.  Our whole life must be surrounded by the righteousness of YHVH.

Rev 19:7  “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself.”
Rev 19:8  And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousnesses of the set-apart ones.

Summary of the Spiritual Application of the Tabernacle.

Mar 4:13  And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then shall you understand all the parables?
Mar 4:14  “The sower sows the word.
Mar 4:15  “These, then, are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. And when they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Mar 4:16  “And likewise these are the ones sown on rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy,
Mar 4:17  and they have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. Then when pressure or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.
Mar 4:18  “And others are those sown among thorns, these are they who hear the word,
Mar 4:19  and the worries of this age, and the deceit of riches, and the desires for other matters, entering in, choke the word, and it becomes fruitless.
Mar 4:20  “And those sown on good soil, are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirtyfold, and some sixty, and some a hundred.”

The Natural Light Covering of the Outer Court

The Outer Court is where man begins his walk with YHVH.  Unfortunately many believe because they have been to the Brazen Altar and the Laver, this is all YHVH requires of them.  They never go any further.  As we view the Outer Court from a Scriptural point of view, it is easy to understand why those who remain in the Outer Court never grow in the things of YHVH.

Those who remain in the Outer Court have little Spiritual understanding because there is a limited anointing in the Outer Court. The seed has fallen on good earth, but without the infilling of the Ruach, YHVH's Word does not become life.

Yochanan aleph/1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which you have received from Him stays in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as the same anointing does teach you concerning all, and is true,
and is no falsehood, and even as it has taught you, you stay in Him.

Since there is a limited anointing in the Outer Court, there is mainly natural light; those who remain there must depend on the teachings of man.

The Outer Court, the Baby Realm, is also known as the Milk Realm.  The writer of the letter to the Ivrim/Hebrews speaks of those who remain in the Milk Realm of the Outer Court:

Ivr/Heb 5:12  For indeed, although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first elements of the Words of Elohim. And you have become such as need milk and not solid food.
Ivr/Heb 5:13  For everyone partaking of milk is inexperienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
Those who remain in the Outer Court need to continually be taught the first elements of the Words of Elohim.

2Ti 3:7  always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

There is very little overcoming in the Outer Court.  The Outer Court is only the area of maintaining.

The writer of the letter to the Ivrim/Hebrews continues His discourse to those who choose to go on and enter into YHVH's presence:
Ivr/Heb 6:1  Therefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Messiah, let us go on to perfection,1 not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of belief toward Elohim, Footnote: 1Mt. 5:48.
Heb 6:2  of the teaching of immersions, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of everlasting judgment.
Heb 6:3  And this we shall do, if Elohim indeed permits.

These six foundational  doctrines [Ivrim/Hebr6:1-3 : foundation of repentance from dead works (1); belief toward Elohim (2); the teaching of immersions (3); laying on of hands (4); resurrection of the dead (5); everlasting judgment (6)] make up the majority of teachings week after week in the Outer Court Assemblies.

The "going on" ("let us go on to perfection") spoken of by the writer of the letter to the Ivrim/Hebrews is laid out in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness.
As we come to the end of the thirty fold, maturing realm we come to the entrance into the Set Apart Place.  Before us is the door, but before we can enter in at the door there must be a change of garments, another washing, and an anointing.  There must also be a change in our relationship with YHVH; a higher calling.
As we enter through the door, we enter into the Set Apart place.  From this point on we will find no brass because those who enter into the Set Apart Place have dealt with the old sin nature and are ready for the next step in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness.
Those who enter into the Set Apart Place have left the Outer Court Assemblies.  Their whole desire is to seek YHVH's higher calling in their lives.  Sometimes this means leaving family, friends, and old acquaintances.  Our whole desire must become as Shaul/Paul says:

Php 3:10  to know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
Php 3:11  if somehow I might attain to the resurrection from the dead.

"That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death;"   *** Philippians 3:10

Those who are to know Him must leave all behind in the Outer Court.  These have a mindset that nothing can deter them in their desire to enter into the most set apart place. The Set Apart Place is the priesthood realm.  But before the priests could approach the Door to the Tabernacle, they were to wash in the Laver.  YHVH's commandment was:
"For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat:"  Shemot/Exodus  30:19

The priests' hands and feet were to be clean before they could enter into the Tabernacle. This is a as true today as it was in the days of Moshe.  If we are going to draw nigh unto YHVH our hands must be clean.  The hands represent our service to YHVH.  We cannot serve YHVH with defiled hands.  Our service before YHVH must be pure and set apart, undefiled by the things of the world or the carnal mind.

Likewise, our feet must be clean.  The feet represent our walk before YHVH.  We cannot draw nigh to YHVH if we continue to walk in the ways of the world.  Our service and our walk must be purified if we are to approach YHVH and operate in a set apart priesthood.

This represents the 60 fold return. This can also be a very dangerous place for those who want to grieve the Ruach (Spirit) of YHVH with their own agendas. Therefore Shaul/Paul teaches us that the true evidence of the fullness of the Ruach is walking in the instruction of Torah.

Rom 8:4  so that the righteousness of the Torah should be completed in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

During the Messianic realm when Yahshua returns to the earth to rule from Yerushalayim for 1000 years we will once again be given the opportunity as his bride to walk in His ways; the ways of Torah until Yahshua presents us to his Father perfect – 100 fold return.

Yahudah/Jud 1:24  And to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you blameless before the presence of His esteem with exceeding joy,
Jud 1:25  to the only wise Elohim, our Saviour, be esteem and greatness and might and authority, both now and forever. Amĕn.

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam,
asher natan lanu Toraht-emet,
v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu.
Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe,
you have given us your Torah of truth,
and have planted everlasting life within our midst.
Blessed are you, Yahweh giver of the Torah.
Ameyn.)
