Parashat 55 Portion 4 ‘’Ha azinu’’ Deut 32:217-28 – Rev 2:18-29

Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, who has made us set apart through His commandments and commanded us to engross ourselves in the words of the Torah. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah – Amein

התגלות המשיח The Revelation of Messiah

If we faithfully follow the ‘’ancient paths’’ they will lead us to the end of days – to an assembly of the called out faithful ones to sing with one heart and one spirit  - The Song of Moshe/Moses – to be finally united to YHVH’s Messiah.

27.With abominations they provoked Him.

בְּתוֹעֵבֹת, יַכְעִיסֻהוּ

תּועבה – ‘’disgusting things’’  they are provoking YHVH to angry frustration - , יַכְעִיסֻהוּ

Eze 16:33  “To all whores they give gifts, but you gave gifts to all your lovers and bribed them to come to you from all around in your whorings. Eze 16:34  “Thus you are different from other women in your whorings, because no one whores after you, and in you giving a harlot-fee, while a harlot-fee was not given to you. Thus you are different.” Eze 16:35 Therefore, O whore, hear the word of יהוה! (His people willingly ‘’open their legs’’ to receive an ‘’impure seed’’ from their Baal priest pastors) what an abomination   תּועבה

Pro 28:9  He who turns away his ear from hearing the Torah, Even his prayer is an abomination - תּועבה

27(b)Dev 32:17 “They slaughtered to demons – not Eloah

יִזְבְּחוּ, לַשֵּׁדִים לֹא אֱלֹהַ

Altars were meant to be places of drawing near (‘’karav’’) to YHVH – instead His children used YHVH’s altars to ‘’slaughter (draw near) to demons’’ (sheddim) and not YHVH.

Lev 17:7  “And let them no longer slaughter their slaughtering’s to demons, after whom they whored. This is a law forever for them throughout their generations.” ’

1Co 10:20  No, but what the nations (goyim) slaughter they slaughter to demons[a] and not to Elohim, and I do not wish you to become sharers with demons. Footnote: aSee Lev_17:7, Deu_32:17

It has been suggested by some that one of Baal’s most powerful strongholds will come from the altars of praise and worship meetings. Unless a gentile is grafted into YHVH according to the Torah of Messiah, all of their sacrifices are worthless – 1Cor 10:20

28. Mighty ones they did not know, vs 17

אֱלֹהִים, לֹא יְדָעוּם;

Dt 29:26  ‘They went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they have not known and whom He had not allotted to them. (Gen 11 – the gods of the nations)

28(b) New ones who came lately, (to whom you have drawn near to – מִקָּרֹב)

חֲדָשִׁים מִקָּרֹב בָּאוּ, (m)

Perhaps one of the most powerful ‘’new gods’’ that have come into the world is what scholars call  ‘’antinomianism’’ – the Torah of YHVH has been done away with.

What about the doctrine of the trinity?

29.Which your fathers did not fear.

לֹא שְׂעָרוּם אֲבֹתֵיכֶם – they were not horrified שְׂעָרוּם by them.

*29(b) Dev 32:18 “You neglected תֶּשִׁי the Rock (YHVH) who brought you forth,

 צוּר יְלָדְךָ, תֶּשִׁי

“Tzur yeladecha teshi” the Rock that fathered you did not keep in your memory –

See chumash p 1104 the fifth line from the top. The word תֶּשִׁי has a yud which is half way down from its normal position. Why? His people have diminished Him.

30. And forgot/ignored (shâkach) the Ěl (Yahshua) who travailed for you  חיל .

וַתִּשְׁכַּח, אֵל מְחֹלְלֶךָ

Heb 12:2  looking to the Prince/Jesus (Gk ‘’ ἀρχηγός’’ see explanation below)) and Perfecter (Gk 5051 - teleiōtēs  a completer, finisher see Rom 10:4) of the belief, יהושע, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the stake, having despised the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of Elohim. Heb 12:3  For consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and faint in your lives.

747 arxēgós(from 746 /arx, "the first" and 71 /ágō, "to lead") – properly, the first in a long procession; a file-leader who pioneers the way for many others to follow. 747 (arxēgós) does not strictly mean "author," but rather "a person who is originator or founder of a movement and continues as the leader – i.e. 'pioneer leader, founding leader' "

‘’The One who fathered you יְלָדְךָ  – this One you forgot and you appointed Yahshua as the supreme leader and author of the faith’’ the one who travailed for you  חיל

Imagine standing before YHVH and He asked you ‘’who fathered/authored you, Me or My son?’’ and who travailed for you and was humiliated and writhed in pain חיל for you? Heb 7:25  Therefore He(YHVH) is also able to save completely those who draw near to Elohim(YHVH) through Him, (Yahshua) ever living to make intercession for them. Rom 8:24 Jn14:6

The depth of our idolatry is beyond comprehension it has been shameful and shocking.

Disclaimer: Most Christians, including Messianic’s will disagree with what I have just said.

If we had any sense of how we have offended the Almighty - we would bow our heads in shame,  and grieve before Him and beg Him for His forgiveness. We are all guilty – the great tribulation will reveal the extent of all idolatry on earth.

This is why the world is in such a mess – we have taken away YHVH’s Honour and given it to Yahshua. This is not just an innocent mistake, it reflects how idolatrous we have been.

Act 17:30  “Truly, then, having overlooked these times of ignorance, Elohim now commands all men everywhere to repent, Act 17:31  because He has set a day on which He is going to judge the world in righteousness by a Man whom He has appointed, having given proof of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

30(b) Dev 32:19 “And יהוה saw, and he was despised, ‘’nâ'ats’’ – to treat disrespectfully.

 וַיַּרְא יְהוָה, וַיִּנְאָץ

How does one despise YHVH? Korach and Jezebel show us how. They do not honour those who honours Him. In fact, Korach and Jezebel honour those who dishonour YHVH.

Num 16:30  “But if יהוה creates what is unheard of, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into She’ol,[a] then you shall know that these men have scorned ‘’nâ'ats’’  יהוה.” (Korach and his company)

This is the fate of unrepentant scorners – those who have gone too far and can no longer turn back.

31Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.

מִכַּעַס בָּנָיו, וּבְנֹתָיו

His own sons and daughters just continued provoking YHVH to wrath כַּעַס

31(b) Dev 32:20 “And He said, ‘Let Me hide סָתַר  My face from them, סָתַר – future tense cohortative verb to emphasize the verb.

וַיֹּאמֶר, אַסְתִּירָה פָנַי מֵהֶם -

Isa 8:17  And I shall wait on יהוה, who hides סָתַר His face from the house of Ya‛aqo. And I shall look for Him.

Deu 31:17  “Then My displeasure shall burn against them in that day, and I shall forsake them and hide My face from them, and they shall be consumed. And many evils and distresses shall come upon them, and it shall be said in that day, ‘Is it not because our Elohim is not in our midst that these evils have come upon us?’ Deu 31:18  “And I shall certainly hide סָתַר My face in that day, because of all the evil which they have done, for they shall turn to other mighty ones. Deu 31:19  “And now write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Yisra’ěl. Put it in their mouths, so that this song is to Me for a witness against the children of Yisra’ěl.

Deu 31:20  “And I shall bring them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they shall eat and be satisfied and be fat, then they shall turn to other mighty ones, and they shall serve them, and scorn Me and break My covenant. Deu 31:21  “And it shall be, when many evils and distresses come upon them, that this song shall answer before them as a witness. For it is not to be forgotten in the mouths of their seed, for I know their thoughts which they are forming today, even before I bring them to the land of which I swore to give them.” Deu 31:22  And Mosheh wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the children of Yisra’ěl. See also Josh 24 Jer 30 – What about Christianity? Rev 16 some still refuse to repent – Jer 50:20

32. Let Me see what their (latter)end is, vs 20

אֶרְאֶה, מָה אַחֲרִיתָם

32(b) For they are a perverse generation,

דוֹר תַּהְפֻּכֹת הֵמָּה

Hebrew – “they turn things upside down” – תַּהְפֻּכָה – overturn or pervert

 33. Children in whom there is no trusting.

בָּנִים לֹא-אֵמֻן בָּם.

Sons with no loyalty in them.

*33(b) Dev 32:21 “They made Me jealous by what is not Ěl,

הֵם קִנְאוּנִי בְלֹא-אֵל

In the Torah scroll this “El” has a tittel over it -  Moshe is drawing our attention to a hidden meaning – These are other gods – the gods of the nations.

34. They provoked Me with their worthless matters.

כִּעֲסוּנִי בְּהַבְלֵיהֶם

They troubled me by their idols of vanity.

34(b) הֵם קִנְאוּנִי בְלֹא-אֵל, They have roused Me to jealousy with a no-god

35. I provoke them with a foolish nation

בְּגוֹי נָבָל אַכְעִיסֵם

I will cause a stupid and decadent – נָבָל – people to provoke them to anger - אַכְעִיסֵם

Rom 11:14  if somehow I might provoke to jealousy Deu_32:21 those who are my flesh and save some of them.

35(b) Dev 32:22 “For a fire (f) was kindled in My wrath

כִּי-אֵשׁ קָדְחָה בְאַפִּי

36. And burns to the bottom of She’ol, (f) vs 22

וַתִּיקַד עַד-שְׁאוֹל תַּחְתִּית

YHVH’s intense response to our idolatry – to judge and destroy the very foundations of idolatry.

36(b) And consumes the earth and its increase,

וַתֹּאכַל אֶרֶץ וִיבֻלָהּ

This fire will consume the produce of the soil – seen in the judgments during the great tribulation

37. And sets on fire the foundations of mountains.

וַתְּלַהֵט מוֹסְדֵי הָרִים

The hidden foundations מוֹסְדֵי of the high places - used to practice idolatry

37(b) Deu 32:23 “I gather (heap) evils upon them,

אַסְפֶּה עָלֵימוֹ, רָעוֹת

YHVH will sweep אַסְפֶּה evils רָעוֹת – over them עָלֵימוֹ

38. I use up My arrows upon them –

חִצַּי, אֲכַלֶּה-בָּם

I bring them to an end אֲכַלֶּה by shooting my arrows חִצַּי into them בָּם

38(b) Dev 32:24 “Wasted by scarcity of food, And consumed by heat and

מְזֵי רָעָב וּלְחֻמֵי רֶשֶׁף

They will be sucked and burnt out מְזֵי – by famine רָעָב – consumed in battle וּלְחֻמֵי by burning thunderbolts רֶשֶׁף

The chumash translates it as: bloating of famine, battles of flaming demons, cutting down by the noontime demon.

39. bitter destruction,

וְקֶטֶב מְרִירִי

Heb – the destruction that brings bitterness.

39(b) And the teeth of beasts I send upon(in) them,

וְשֶׁן-בְּהֵמֹת, אֲשַׁלַּח-בָּם

These beasts (possibly demons) will sink their teeth into them.

40. With the poison of serpents of the dust.

עִם-חֲמַת, זֹחֲלֵי עָפָר.

With venom of those who creep upon the dust - chumash

40(b) Deu 32:25 “From the outside the sword will bereave,

מִחוּץ, תְּשַׁכֶּל-חֶרֶב

41. And fear from within,

וּמֵחֲדָרִים, אֵימָה

And horrors from your innermost chambers

41(b)  Both young man and maiden,

גַּם-בָּחוּר גַּם-בְּתוּלָה

42 Nursing child with the man of grey hairs.

יוֹנֵק, עִם-אִישׁ שֵׂיבָה

From a sucking infant to an old man, no one excluded.

42(b) Deu 32:26 “I said, ‘I should blow them away,

אָמַרְתִּי, אַפְאֵיהֶם

I will say, I will blow them away.

43 I should eradicate from men the remembrance of them vs 26

אַשְׁבִּיתָה מֵאֱנוֹשׁ, זִכְרָם

43(b) To cease from among men, (?)

לוּלֵי, כַּעַס אוֹיֵב אָגוּר

‘’Unless I shrink away from the vexation of the enemy’’ (the enemy will perceive YHVH as weak)

44. Dev 32:27 ‘If I did not fear the enemy’s taunt, Lest their adversaries misunderstand,

פֶּן-יְנַכְּרוּ, צָרֵימוֹ

Vs 27 Were it not that I dreaded the enemy's provocation

פֶּן-יְנַכְּרוּ, צָרֵימוֹ

44(b) Lest they say, “Our hand is high”,

The enemy might think they have the upper hand.

פֶּן-יֹאמְרוּ יָדֵנוּ רָמָה

45. And יהוה has not done all this.”

וְלֹא יְהוָה פָּעַל כָּל-זֹאת

45(b) Dev 32:28 “For they are a nation lost to counsel,

כִּי-גוֹי אֹבַד עֵצוֹת, הֵמָּה

46And there is no understanding (f) in them.

וְאֵין בָּהֶם, תְּבוּנָה

The final verse of this song gives us some hope. (so, we don’t get too depressed)

וְכִפֶּר אַדְמָתוֹ עַמּוֹ – vs 43  And shall pardon His land, His people.”

The Hebrew actually states that YHVH will provide a propitiatory shelter כִפֶּר on His soil אַדְמָתוֹ (f) for His people עַמּוֹ (f)– in other words it appears that YHVH will create a special set apart space for His people to reconcile Himself with them, YHVH is saying ‘’this is my soil and you are My people and a remnant will reconcile with YHVH.

To the Assembly in Thyatira

Rev 2:18  “And to the messenger of the assembly in Thyatira write, ‘This says the Son of Elohim, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like burnished brass: Dan_10:5-6

‘’Eyes like flames of fire’’ speak of a penetrating gaze that exposes everything we think we can hide.

Brass is formed when two metals (copper and zinc) are placed in an extremely hot furnace to combine and form a new hardened metal – brass – speaks to us of a judging Messiah.

vs 2:19  “I know your works, and love, and service, and belief, and your endurance. And as for your works, the last are more than the first.

Rev 2:20  “But I hold against you that you allow (Gk - tolerate and pardon) that woman Izeel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and lead My servants astray to commit whoring and to eat food offered to idols. (or to entertain and to become intimate with strange doctrines)

To understand ‘’jezebel’’ we need to go back to its origins – this is not just an account of one woman –  (applies to men as well) it is about a spiritual stronghold that has gained almost complete control over YHVH’s servants.

אִיזֶבֶל – Izavel’’ has two possible meanings:

אֵיזֶה בַּעַל – ‘’where is Baal’’? or ‘’where is my husband’’?

In the Hebrew language, both "Baal" and "Ish" can mean "husband,"

Hos 2:16  “And it shall be, in that day,” declares יהוה, “that you call Me ‘My Husband,’ (ishi) and no longer call Me ‘My Ba‛al.’ (my master)Hos 2:17  “And I shall remove the names of the Ba‛als from her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

And secondly, אִיזֶבֶל comes from two Hebrew words אִי is used as at a beginning of a word as a ‘’negation’’

זבל (zabal) means ‘’to dwell together in honour’’ or  "against dwelling together in righteousness’’ or ‘’against oneness’’

https://www.abarim-publications.com/Meaning/Jezebel.html

To gain further insight into the origins of this stronghold we go back to the dramatic showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal found in 1 Kings 17 – 19

In 1 Kings 17 Elijah prayed for drought over Israel for three and a half years in order to bring judgment over this stronghold – will Elijah be one of the end time witnesses of the great tribulation, that will bring about a final judgment on this spiritual stronghold?  Rev 11:3  “And I shall give unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clad in sackcloth.” Rev 11:5  And if anyone wishes to harm them, fire comes out from their mouth and consumes their enemies. And if anyone wishes to harm them, he has to be killed in that way. Rev 11:6  These possess authority to shut the heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy. And they possess authority over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they wish. Jas 5:17

Interestingly the false prophet who will rule on the earth with the antichrist  during the great tribulation for 1260 days will also be able to do great signs. He will be able to call fire from heaven and so deceive many on earth - Rev 13:13  And he does great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from the heaven on the earth before men.

So, in 1Kings 18 we read about the showdown between Elijah and the Baal priests. Elijah wins and kills all the Baal priests.

Then we see in 1 Kings 19 is that Elijah is fleeing for his life from Jezebel who wants to kill him. Much later in 2 Kings 9 Jezebel is finally killed – however history tells us that the spiritual stronghold of Jezebel lived on in Israel and is still alive to this day.

Rev 2:21  “And I gave her time to repent of her whoring, and she did not repent. Rev 2:22  “See, I am throwing her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great affliction,  unless they repent of their works. Rev 2:23  “And I shall slay her children with death. And all the assemblies shall know that I am the One searching the kidneys and hearts. And I shall give to each one of you according to your works. Rev 2:24  “And to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not possess this teaching, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they call them, I am not putting on you another burden. Rev 2:25  “But hold fast what you have until I come. Rev 2:26  “And he who overcomes, and guards My works (Gk ‘’ergon’’)until the end, to him I shall give authority over the nations, Psa_2:8

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, You have given us your Torah of truth and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah. Amein.

Parashat 55 Portion 3 ‘’Ha Azinu’’ Deut 32:12 – Revelation 2:12 –

Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, who has made us set apart through His commandments and commanded us to engross ourselves in the words of the Torah. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah – Amein

התגלות המשיח The Revelation of Messiah

Outline of the Song of Moses – Summary of the Torah Parashiyot – Includes both the Tanach and Apostolic Writings – (Old and New Testament)

  • Israel's creation and YHVH's gracious treatment (Dt 32:1-14, vv5-6 are YHVH’s deep disappointment towards His people, but also reveals the path of their redemption)
  • YHVH’s faithfulness despite Israels unfaithfulness. (Dt 32:15-19)
  • YHVH's judgment decreed (Dt 32:20-35)
  • YHVH's promise of victory over all adversaries of Israel (Dt 32:36-43)

Deuteronomy 32:15-18  details Israel's (and all believers) ingratitude, defection and rebellion despite Yahweh's provision of an abundance of good things! (during the last days)

19. Dev 32:12 יהוה alone led him, - (Heb נחה or guided them) YHVH (m) - , בָּדָד (m) alone or in separate isolation – the foundation of the covenant of 10 sayings Ex 20.

 יְהוָה, בָּדָד יַנְחֶנּוּ

19(b) And there was no strange mighty one with him.

וְאֵין עִמּוֹ, אֵל נֵכָר - נכר – (m) foreign gods or strange Elohim – עִמּוֹ – with Him (prep)

Isa 43:11  “I, I am יהוה, and besides Me there is no saviour.

יא  אָנֹכִי אָנֹכִי, יְהוָה; וְאֵין מִבַּלְעָדַי, מוֹשִׁיעַ.        11  I, even I, am YHVH; and beside (apart from) Me there is no saviour.  מִבַּלְעָדַי or ‘’there never will be’’ Strongs H1107

20. Dev 32:13 “He made him ride in the heights of the earth,

יַרְכִּבֵהוּ עַל-במותי בָּמֳתֵי אָרֶץ – who is Moses referring to here?  Messiah? Or Israel?

Lit. Heb. states – He caused him to ride on the high places of the high places (Heb –‘’bâmâh’’ high places of worship). Note how these two words which mean the same are differently spelled

Eph 2:6  and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Messiah יהושע, Eph 2:7  in order to show in the coming ages the exceeding riches of His favour in kindness toward us in Messiah יהושע

In the wilderness of the great tribulation there will be a heightened spiritual awareness of what is happening around us. This will be like a time we have never experienced before in our lives, with an expectation of even greater things to come.

20(b) And he ate the fruit ‘’tenûbâh’’ (f) of the fields,(m)

וַיֹּאכַל תְּנוּבֹת שָׂדָי

Eze 36:26  “And I shall give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. And I shall take the heart of stone out of your flesh, and I shall give you a heart of flesh,

Eze 36:27  and put My Spirit within you.[a] And I shall cause you to walk in My laws and guard My right-rulings and shall do them. Footnote: aSee Ezk_11:19-20, Ezk_37:6-14, Ezk_39:29

Eze 36:28  “And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. And you shall be My people, and I shall be your Elohim.

Eze 36:29  “And I shall save you from all your uncleannesses. And I shall call for the grain and increase it, and I shall bring no scarcity of food upon you.

Eze 36:30  “And I shall increase (tenûbâh) the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of scarcity of food among the nations.

Eze 36:31  “And you shall remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good. And you shall loathe yourselves in your own eyes, for your crookednesses and your abominations.

Eze 36:32  “Not for your sake am I acting,” declares the Master יהוה, “let it be known to you. Be ashamed and blush for your ways, O house of Yisra’ěl!”

21. Deut 32:14  And He made him to draw (suck) honey (m) from the rock,(‘sela‛- crag or a cliff)

וַיֵּנִקֵהוּ דְבַשׁ מִסֶּלַע, -

Psa 19:7  The Torah of יהוה is perfect, bringing back the being … Psa 19:10  More desirable than gold, Than much fine gold; And sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.

In the harsh conditions of the great tribulation the meditating in the Torah will be more precious and sweeter than ever before.

21(b)  And oil (m) from the flinty (m)rock, (m)

וְשֶׁמֶן מֵחַלְמִישׁ צוּר.

The Torah like anointing oil poured forth - refers to a verse in the Song of Solomon (1:3), which compares the fragrance of the beloved's name to "oil poured out". This imagery is used to express the idea that the Torah, or YHVH's word, is like a fragrant and desirable substance, spreading its influence and blessing like a sweet-smelling oil. (oil used for light)

22. Dev 32:14 “Curds from the cattle, And milk of the flock,

חֶמְאַת בָּקָר וַחֲלֵב צֹאן, ‘’kefir’’ חֶמְאַ is fermented or matured milk.

Speaking of YHVH’s anointed ones coming into maturity -  Isa 7:15 says  “He eats curds and honey when He knows to refuse evil and choose the good. See vs 14

22(b) With fat of lambs, ‘’or a fat כָּרִים lamb’’(m) or the choice part חֵלֶב (m) of a sacrificial ram אֵילִים

עִם-חֵלֶב כָּרִים וְאֵילִים

YHVH’s anointed will also enjoy the choice parts of the sacrificial lambs.

23. And rams of the breed of Bashan, And goats, vs 14

בְּנֵי-בָשָׁן וְעַתּוּדִים

And the he goats (attûd) rams that belonged to the sons בְּנֵי  of Bashan. Israels conquered enemies that used to be a place of giants.

Why does the song repeat the provision and enjoyment of these delicacies?

Maybe the use of ‘Bashan’’ is drawing our attention to the simultaneous feasting of idolatrous believers during the great tribulation.

23(b) with the choicest wheat; כִּלְיוֹת – the fat of the kidneys of wheat – the choicest part.

עִם-חֵלֶב, כִּלְיוֹת חִטָּה

Even those who say they love Him yet inwardly despise Him will enjoy YHVH’s provision with deceit.

Psa 81:15  “Those who hate יהוה would cringe (be untrue) before Him; And their time of punishment be forever. Psa 81:16  “He would feed them with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

24. And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.

וְדַם-עֵנָב, תִּשְׁתֶּה-חָמֶר  -

They will even celebrate the feasts with malice and deceit in their heats - 1Co 5:8  So then let us celebrate the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

24 (b) Dev 32:15 “But Yeshurun (m) grew fat and kicked; (rebelled)

וַיִּשְׁמַן יְשֻׁרוּן וַיִּבְעָט,

Jeshurun = “upright one”- a symbolic name for Yisrael describing her ideal character – yet they became ‘’ spiritually fat’’ and rebelled.

Deu 6:10  “And it shall be, when יהוה your Elohim brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Araham, to Yitsaq, and to Ya‛aqo, to give you great and good cities which you did not build, Deu 6:11  and houses filled with all kinds of goods, which you did not fill, and wells dug which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you shall eat and be satisfied – Deu 6:12  be on guard, lest you forget יהוה who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, from the house of bondage.

25. You grew fat, שָׁמַנְתָּ you grew thick, עָבִיתָ (overweight)  You are covered with fat; כָּשִׂיתָ gluttonous.

שָׁמַנְתָּ עָבִיתָ כָּשִׂיתָ;

Now the ‘’spiritual fatness’’ manifested itself in the way they walked – with ungratefulness.

This will be the same kind of behaviour their fathers were guilty of during the ‘’first exodus’’ out of Egypt.

‘’The children of Israel wandered in the “desert” for 40 years (cf. Ex. 19:223:31). They numbered over 600,000 adult men (Ex. 12:37Num. 1:1–4:49), which would be a total population of some 2,5 million. But, Deuteronomy 32:13–14 speaks of there being plenty of produce for them and their flocks, which seems highly improbable for this many people and flocks in a “desert.”

The Hebrew word “desert” does not imply the total desolation that it may suggest today. It can be translated “wilderness.” There were rivers and pastures in this wilderness.

There is good evidence, even from modern times, that this wilderness had far more water and vegetation than it presently does, as is demonstrated by archaeological exploration of the remains of previous civilizations in that area.

YHVH Himself provided for all their needs in the wilderness in several ways:
  1. He provided them ample food (manna) for the entire 40 years (Ex. 16:35).
  2. He also gave water “abundantly” for them and their flocks (Num. 20:11).
  3. Since they came with “a great deal of livestock” (Ex. 12:38), they would naturally have plenty   of milk to drink.

 4. By commerce with the surrounding nations (Midianites, Edomites, and Ishmaelites), they could obtain other needed things with the large amount of silver and gold they took from Egypt (cf. Ex. 12:35–36). They built a tabernacle and overlaid its furniture with pure gold.

1Co 10:1  For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,

1Co 10:2  and all were immersed into Mosheh in the cloud and in the sea,

1Co 10:3  and all ate the same spiritual food,

1Co 10:4  and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed, and the Rock was Messiah.

1Co 10:5  However, with most of them Elohim was not well pleased, for they were laid low in the wilderness. (will most be laid low again during the great tribulation?)

1Co 10:6  And these became examples for us, so that we should not lust after evil, as those indeed lusted.

1Co 10:7  And do not become idolaters as some of them, as it has been written, “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and stood up to play.” Exo_32:6

1Co 10:8  Neither should we commit whoring, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell,

1Co 10:9  neither let us try Messiah, as some of them also tried, and were destroyed by serpents,

1Co 10:10  neither grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

1Co 10:11  And all these came upon them as examples, and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come,

1Co 10:12  so that he who thinks he stands, let him take heed lest he fall.

1Co 10:13  No trial has overtaken you except such as is common to man, and Elohim is trustworthy, who shall not allow you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the trial shall also make the way of escape, enabling you to bear it.

25(b) So he forsook וַיִּטֹּשׁ Eloah who made him, (m)

 וַיִּטֹּשׁ אֱלוֹהַּ עָשָׂהוּ

It seems impossible that such a thing could happen again, but it will.

Spurgeon - Many can endure the trials of adversity who cannot escape the perils of prosperity.

Amo 8:11  “See, days are coming,” declares the Master יהוה, “that I shall send a hunger in the land, not a hunger for bread, nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the Words of יהוה. Amo 8:12  “And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east – they shall diligently search, seeking the Word of יהוה, but they shall not find it.a Footnote: a Jer_5:13, Hos_8:12, Ezk_34:3-10.

26.And scorned the Rock of his deliverance.

וַיְנַבֵּל צוּר יְשֻׁעָתוֹ.

And you disgraced  the ‘’Rock’’ who brought you salvation.

Heb. “va yin a bel” to treat with contempt.

26(b) Dev 32:16 “They moved Him to jealousy with foreign matters,

יַקְנִאֻהוּ, בְּזָרִים;

We respond by making YHVH jealous  קנא  many will prostitute זוּר themselves with foreign gods –

27.With abominations בְּתוֹעֵבֹת (that which causes horror and is disgusting)  they provoked Him.

בְּתוֹעֵבֹת, יַכְעִיסֻהוּ

תּועבה – ‘’disgusting things’’ that provoke YHVH to anger - , יַכְעִיסֻהוּ

Eze 16:33  “To all whores they give gifts, but you gave gifts to all your lovers, and bribed them to come to you from all around in your whorings.

27(b)Dev 32:17 “They slaughtered to demons (shedim offspring of fallen angels - Enoch )– not Eloah

יִזְבְּחוּ, לַשֵּׁדִים לֹא אֱלֹהַּ

Is it possible that an end time of ‘called-ones’ will not only repeat the sins of the Israelites in the wilderness they will do even worse things?

28. Mighty ones they did not know,

אֱלֹהִים, לֹא יְדָעוּם;

28(b) New ones who came lately, מִקָּרֹב that will draw near to them during the great tribulation.

חֲדָשִׁים מִקָּרֹב בָּאוּ,

Rev 12:3  And another sign was seen in the heaven: and see, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on his heads. Rev 12:4  And his tail draws a third of the stars of the heaven and throws them to the earth. Rev 12:9  And the great dragon was thrown out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who leads all the world astray. He was thrown to the earth, and his messengers were thrown out with him.

29.Which your fathers did not fear.

לֹא שְׂעָרוּם אֲבֹתֵיכֶם – they were not horrified שְׂעָרוּם  by them.

Is it possible that this kind of behaviour could take place during the great tribulation?

During the 7 seal judgments during the great tribulation it appears that there will be a massive release of demons on the earth. Rev 9:1- 3

The prophet Habakkuk (the one who embraces reality) describes the events of the end times –

Hab 1:5  “Look among the nations and see, and be amazed, be amazed! For a work is being wrought in your days which you would not believe if it were told.

Hab 1:6  “See, I am raising up the Kasdim, (a demonically controlled people) a bitter and hasty nation, who is going through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs. (possess disobedient believers)

Despite their great wickedness and destruction… Hab 2:14  for the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the esteem of יהוה, as the waters cover the sea![a] Footnote: a Isa_11:9

Describing the 42 months of the great tribulation Ezekiel says the following:

Eze 20:33  “As I live,” declares the Master יהוה, “do not I, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, reign over you?

Eze 20:34  “And I shall bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.

Eze 20:35  “And I shall bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and shall enter into judgment with you face to face there. (protected from the antichrist but not from our idolatry)

Eze 20:36  “As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Mitsrayim, so I shall enter into judgment with you,” declares the Master יהוה

Eze 20:37  “And I shall make you pass under the rod, and shall bring you into the bond of the covenant,

Eze 20:38  and purge (purify you from) the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me. From the land where they sojourn I bring them out, but they shall not come into the land of Yisra’ěl. And you shall know that I am יהוה

The Book of Revelation of Messiah:

‘’Our unfaithfulness and deception regarding the identity of Messiah is so deep that it will require all the catastrophic events of the great tribulation to bring us to our senses.’’

To the Assembly in Pergamum – these are ‘’tribulation’’ assemblies.

Rev 2:12  “And to the messenger of the assembly in Pergamos write, ‘He who has the sharp two-edged sword, says this: Rev 1:16  And in His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword,[b] and His face was as the sun shining in its strength. Footnote: bSee Rev_2:16, Isa_49:2, Heb_4:12

Heb 4:12  For the Word of Elohim is living, and working, and sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through even to the dividing of being and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Heb 4:13  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all are naked and laid bare before the eyes of Him with whom is our account.

Not the word coming out of a Baal priests mouth – the word coming out of Rabbi Yahshua’s mouth.

Rev 2:13  “I know your works, and where you dwell, where the throne of Satan is. And you hold fast to My Name, and did not deny the belief in Me, even in the days in which Antipas was My trustworthy witness, who was killed near you,(by so called believers) where Satan dwells.

Rev 2:14  “But I hold a few matters against you, because you have there those who adhere to the teaching of Bil‛am, who taught Balaq to put a stumbling-block before the children of Yisra’ěl, to eat food offered to idols, and to commit whoring. (Baal priest pastors)

Rev 2:15  “So you also have those who adhere to the teaching of the Nikolaites, which teaching I hate. Rev 2:16  “Repent, or else I shall come to you speedily and fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

Talking to believers Yahuda/Jude says:

Jud 1:11  Woe to them! Because they have gone in the way of Qayin, and gave themselves to the delusion of Bil‛am for a reward, and perished in the rebellion of Qora.[b] Footnote: b Jud_1:7-11; compare with 2Pe_2:6-15. Jud 1:12  These are (hidden) rocky reefs (cause great damage and harm many people) in your love feasts, feasting with you, feeding themselves without fear, waterless clouds borne about by the winds, late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots, Jud 1:13  wild waves of the sea foaming up their own shame, straying stars for whom blackness of darkness is kept forever. Jud 1:14  And ano, the seventh from Aam, also prophesied of these, saying, “See, יהוה comes with His myriads of set-apart ones, Jud 1:15  to execute judgment on all, to punish all who are wicked among them concerning all their wicked works which they have committed in a wicked way, and concerning all the harsh words which wicked sinners have spoken against Him.” (Judgment of the great tribulation)

Rev 2:17  “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I shall give some of the hidden manna to eat.(that opens your eyes) And I shall give him a white stone, and on the stone a renewed Name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’

To the Assembly in Thyatira

Rev 2:18  “And to the messenger of the assembly in Thyatira write, ‘This says the Son of Elohim, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like burnished brass: Dan_10:5-6

Fire and brass speak of severe judgment. A combination of copper and zinc are heated to almost 1000 degrees C to form the brass metal.

Rev 2:19  “I know your works, and love, and service, and belief, and your endurance. And as for your works, the last are more than the first.

Rev 2:20  “But I hold against you that you allow (Gk - tolerate and pardon) that woman Izeel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and lead My servants astray to commit whoring and to eat food offered to idols.

What is a Jezebel spirit?

To understand this spirit we need to go back to its origins and how this spirit entered into the world and how it controls not only a rebellious woman, but has captured all of mankind (men too).

Jezebel comes from two Hebrew words – ‘’against oneness’’  against YHVH’s Oneness with His people and against His people being one with His Torah and one with His truth.

The spirit of Jezebel will always try to destroy or undermine the servants of YHVH who oppose and expose this spirit – 1 Kings 18:4. Those who enjoy a oneness with Him and with others.

See the story of Eliyahu/Elijah and the Baal prophets – In 1 Kings 17 Elijah prayed for drought over Israel for three and a half years in order to bring judgment over this stronghold – will Eliyaju/Elijah be one of the end time witnesses of the great tribulation? Rev 11:3-6 -  Rev 11:3  “And I shall give unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clad in sackcloth.” Rev 11:6  These possess authority to shut the heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy. And they possess authority over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they wish.

Jas 5:17  Ěliyahu was a man with feelings like us, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain. And it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. (same period as great tribulation)

Even after Eliyahu’s/Elijah’s victory over the Baal priests, Baal worship continued to flourish in Israel.

Rev 2:21  “And I gave her time to repent of her whoring, and she did not repent. Rev 2:22  “See, I am throwing her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great affliction, (Rev 16) unless they repent of their works.

Rev 22:14  “Blessed are those doing His commands, so that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter through the gates into the city.

Rev 2:27  and he shall shepherd them with a rod of iron, as the potter’s vessels shall be broken to pieces, (It is a sign of unbending, absolute authority, not cruelty.  If you are a sheep, one of the people of His pasture, then that rod of iron protects, guides, and defends you. If you are a wolf—or a dragon—then that rod of iron will be your destruction. Evil, no matter how well established or highly organized, will be broken like pottery under the firm application of divine justice. The world will be made right. The Shepherd will care for His flock.)

Rev 2:28  “And I shall give him the morning star. (Yahshua himself will be given to us because he is the bright morning star during millennium)

2Pe 1:19  And we have the prophetic word made more certain, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,

Rev 2:29  “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.” ’

Mat 24:21  “For then there shall be great distress,[c] such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. Footnote: cOr great pressure, or great affliction

Mat 24:22  “And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would be saved, but for the sake of the chosen ones those days shall be shortened.

I personally believe one of the very few ways there will be to survive the great tribulation will be to find one of the 144 000 witnesses and join yourself to one of them.(if they will accept you)

Jer 50:19  “And I shall bring back Yisra’ěl to his pasture, and he shall feed on Karmel and Bashan. And his being shall be satisfied on Mount Ephrayim and Gil‛a. Jer 50:20  “In those days and at that time,” declares יהוה, “the crookedness of Yisra’ěl shall be searched for, but there shall be none; and the sin of Yehuah, but none shall be found. For I shall pardon those whom I leave as a remnant. (even a faithful remnant will need to be pardoned before they enter the millennium)

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah. Amein.
