ויהי בחצי – ‘’there
came to be a division…..or two halves’’ (‘’vayehi bachetzi’’)
Eze 34:17 And as for you, O My flock, thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I am judging between sheep and sheep, between rams and goats.
The Final Judgment (It is possible that the first 42 months of tribulation
is covered in Mat 24 and the last 42 months in Mat 25)
Mat 25:31 “And when the Son of Aḏam comes in His esteem, and all the set-apart messengers with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His esteem. Mat 25:32 “And all the nations (Heb ‘’kol ha goyim’’) shall be gathered before Him, and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats. Mat 25:33 “And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Mat 25:34 “Then the Sovereign shall say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the reign prepared for you from the foundation of the world – Mat 25:35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in ……..’
The Tenth
Plague: Death of the Firstborn
Exo 12:29
And it came to be at midnight that יהוה struck all
the first-born in the land of Mitsrayim, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sat
on his throne to the first-born of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all
the first-born of livestock.
Exo 12:30
And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his servants, and all the
Mitsrites. And there was a great cry in Mitsrayim, for there was not a house
where there was not a dead one.
Exo 12:31
Then he called for Mosheh and Aharon by night, and said, “Arise, go out from
the midst of my people, both you and the children of Yisra’ěl. And go, serve יהוה
as you have said.
Exo 12:32
“Take both your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and go. Then you shall
bless me too.”
The Exodus
Exo 12:33
And the Mitsrites were strong on the people, to hasten to send them away out of
the land. For they said, “We are all dying!”
Exo 12:34
And the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading
bowls bound up in their garments on their shoulders.
Exo 12:35
And the children of Yisra’ěl had done according to the word of Mosheh, and they
had asked from the Mitsrites objects of silver, and objects of gold, and
garments.
Exo 12:36
And יהוה
gave the people favour in the eyes of the Mitsrites, so that they gave them
what they asked, and they plundered the Mitsrites.
Exo 12:37
And the children of Yisra’ěl set out from Ra‛meses (‘’child of the sun’’) to
Sukkoth, (‘’booths’’) about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides the
little ones.
Exo 12:38
And a mixed multitude went up with them too, also flocks and herds, very much
livestock.
Exo 12:39
And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of
Mitsrayim, for it was not leavened, since they were driven out of Mitsrayim,
and had not been able to delay, nor had they prepared food for
themselves.
Exo 12:40
And the sojourn of the children of Yisra’ěl who lived in Mitsrayim was four
hundred and thirty years.
Exo 12:41 And it came to be at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, on that same day it came to be that all the divisions of יהוה went out from the land of Mitsrayim.
According to rabbinic tradition the Israelite bondage in Egypt was only 210 years. They calculate the 430 years from the birth of Isaac. Perhaps this is why according to the rabbinic calender we are in the year 5783 – If we add the 230 years to this date we get the year 6003. 2Pe 3:8 But, beloved ones, let not this one matter be hidden from you: that with יהוה one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. Psa_90:4.
Exo 12:42 It is a night of watches unto יהוה for bringing them out of the land of Mitsrayim. This is that night of watches unto יהוה, for all the children of Yisra’ěl throughout their generations.
Institution of the Passover
‘’Watches of night: The Jews, like the Greeks and Romans, divided the night into military watches instead of hours, each watch representing the period for which sentinels or pickets remained on duty. The proper Jewish reckoning recognized only three such watches, entitled the first or "beginning of the watches," (Lamentations 2:19) the middle watch, (Judges 7:19) and the morning watch. (Exodus 14:24; 1 Samuel 11:11) These would last respectively from sunset to 10 P.M.; from 10 P.M. to 2 A.M.; and from 2 A.M. to sunrise.’’
Exo 12:43 And יהוה said to Mosheh and Aharon, “This is the law of the Pěsaḥ: No son of a stranger is to eat of it,
Exo 12:44
but any servant a man has bought for silver, when you have circumcised him,
then let him eat of it.
Exo 12:45
“A sojourner and a hired servant does not eat of it.
Exo 12:46
“It is eaten in one house, you are not to take any of the flesh outside the
house, nor are you to break any bone of it.
Exo 12:47
“All the congregation of Yisra’ěl are to perform it.
Exo 12:48
“And when a stranger sojourns with you and shall perform the Pěsaḥ to יהוה,
let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and perform it,
and he shall be as a native of the land. But let no uncircumcised eat of
it.
Exo 12:49
“There is one Torah for the native-born and for the stranger who sojourns among
you.”
Exo 12:50
And all the children of Yisra’ěl did as יהוה commanded
Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.
Exo 12:51 And it came to be on that same day that יהוה brought the children of Yisra’ěl out of the land of Mitsrayim according to their divisions.
Midrash: ‘’Separation’’ through judgment appears to be one of the central themes in our Torah portion. This separation will become more and more significant as the last days approach.Mat 7:13 “Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide – and the way is broad – that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it. Mat 7:14 “Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed[a] which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Footnote: aOr the way is afflicted – Heb ‘’tzar’’ restricted – from ‘’Mitzrayim’’ = double restriction – Strongs 4714
1Co 10:11 And all these came upon them as examples, and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come, 1Co 10:12 so that he who thinks he stands, let him take heed lest he fall.
Mal 3:2 “And who is able to bear the day of His coming, and who is able to stand when He appears? For He is like the fire of a refiner, and like the soap of a launderer.
Rom 9:16 So, then, it is not of him who is wishing, nor of him
who is running, but of Elohim who shows favour.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me, that is in my flesh, dwells no good. For to wish is present with me, but to work the good I do not find. Rom 7:19 For the good that I wish to do, I do not do; but the evil I do not wish to do, this I practise.
Rom 3:9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all, for we have previously accused both Yehuḏim and Greeks that they are all under sin. Rom 3:10 As it has been written, “There is none righteous, no, not one!
2Co 6:14 Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness? 2Co 6:15 And what agreement has Messiah with Beliya‛al? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever? 2Co 6:16 And what union has the Dwelling Place of Elohim with idols? For you are a Dwelling Place of the living Elohim, as Elohim has said, “I shall dwell in them and walk among them, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.”a Lev_26:12 Footnote: aSee also Exo_29:45, Lev_26:12, Jer_31:1, Eze_37:27. 2Co 6:17 Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says יהוה, and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you. Isa_52:11. 2Co 6:18 “And I shall be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says יהוה the Almighty.” Isa_43:6, Hos_1:10.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from the heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.[a] Footnote: a Jer_51:6, Jer_51:9, Jer_51:45. Also see Jer_50:8, Jer_50:13, Jer_50:28.
Judgment is a place of separation. It appears as the plagues or judgments become increasingly severe so the separation between peoples becomes more evident. Scripture seems to teach judgement between believers and believers and believers and non-believers.
2Co 5:10 For we all have to appear before the judgment seat of Messiah, in order for each one to receive according to what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.b Footnote: bSee Mat_16:27, Joh_5:29.
Mat 25:32 “And all the nations shall be gathered before Him, and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats.
‘’Yahshua will sit in judgment over the Gentile nations. They will be judged according to their treatment of Israel during the tribulation.’’ Believers having received forgiveness of sin in Yahshua will be judged according to their works. 2Co 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of Elohim.
Joh 16:8 “And having come, He shall convict[a] the world concerning sin,[b] and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment – Footnotes: aOr confute or prove wrong. b 2Ch_24:20, Neh_9:30, Eze_36:27, Mic_3:8, Act_28:25-27. (This implies that there are many wrong views about sin righteousness and judgment)
Psa 130:1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O יהוה. Psa 130:2 O יהוה, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my prayers. Psa 130:3 O Yah, if You should watch (keep account or guard or preserve – Heb ‘’shimar’’ piel verb) crookednesses, O יהוה, who would stand? Psa 130:4 But with You there is forgiveness, That You might be feared.
Blessed Are the Forgiven
Psa 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Psa 32:2 Blessed is the man to whom יהוה imputes no crookedness, And in whose spirit there is no deceit. Psa 32:3 When I kept silent, my bones became old Through my groaning all the day. Psa 32:4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My sap was turned into the droughts of summer. Selah. Psa 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my crookedness I did not hide. I have said, “I confess my transgressions to יהוה,” And You forgave the crookedness of my sin. Selah.
Rom 4:2 For if Aḇraham was declared right by works, he has ground for boasting, but not before Elohim. Rom 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? “Aḇraham believed Elohim, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness.”[a] Gen_15:6 Footnote: aSee also Gal_3:6. Rom 4:4 And to him who is working, the reward is not reckoned as a favour but as a debt. Rom 4:5 And to him who is not working but believes on Him who is declaring right the wicked, his belief is reckoned for righteousness, Rom 4:6 even as Dawiḏ also says of the blessedness of the man to whom Elohim reckons righteousness without works: Rom 4:7 “Blessed are those whose lawlessnesses are forgiven, and whose sins are covered, Rom 4:8 blessed is the man to whom יהוה shall by no means reckon sin.” Psa_32:1-2.Rom 4:9 Is this blessing then upon the circumcised only, or also upon the uncircumcised? For we affirm: Belief was reckoned unto Aḇraham for righteousness. Gen_15:6. Rom 4:10 How then was it reckoned? Being in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. Rom 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the belief while in uncircumcision, for him to be a father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be reckoned to them also, Rom 4:12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the belief which our father Aḇraham had in uncircumcision.
Rom 9:11 Yet, before they were born or had done any good or evil
– in order that the purpose of Elohim, according to choice, might stand, not of
works but of Him who calls –
Rom 9:16 So, then, it is not of him who is wishing, nor of him who is running, but of Elohim who shows favour.
The final judgment in the last days will bring an end to false religion and
will establish the Knowledge and Revelation of the One True Elohim –
Zec 14:2 And I shall gather all the nations to battle against Yerushalayim.[a] And the city shall be taken, the houses plundered, and the women ravished. Half (‘’chetzei’’) of the city shall go into exile, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Footnote: a Joe_3:2, Zep_3:8, Rev_16:14. Zec 14:3 And יהוה shall go forth, and He shall fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. Zec 14:4 And in that day His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives, which faces Yerushalayim on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, a very great valley, and half (‘’chetzei’’)of the mountain shall move toward the north and half (‘’chetzei’’)of it toward the south. Zec 14:9 And יהוה shall be Sovereign over all the earth.[c] In that day there shall be one יהוה, and His Name one. Footnote: cSee footnote Isa_24:23, also Dan_2:44, Rev_11:15.
By the time the last judgment falls on this age, we will know exactly who YHVH is and exactly who we are and that He alone determines our destiny in this life and in the life to come.
Jer 31:31 “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall make a renewed covenant with the house of Yisra’ěl and with the house of Yehuḏah,[a] Footnote: a Heb_8:8-12, Heb_10:16-17. Jer 31:32 not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I strengthened[b] their hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares יהוה. Footnote: bCommonly understood as “take hold of.” Jer 31:33 “For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ěl after those days, declares יהוה: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. Jer 31:34 “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know יהוה,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares יהוה. “For I shall forgive their crookedness, and remember their sin no more.” Jer 31:35 Thus said יהוה, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the laws of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, and its waves roar – יהוה of hosts is His Name: Jer 31:36 “If these laws vanish from before Me,” declares יהוה, “then the seed of Yisra’ěl shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.”
Blessed are you Yahveh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Amein.
