Parashat 7 Portion 29 Beresheet 30:22-31:2- 1 Sam 1:1-11- Acts 13:16-41

Blessing for the Torah:
Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-O’lam,
asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim,
v’natan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH,
noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim , King of the Universe,
you have selected us from among all the peoples,
and have given us your Torah. Blessed are you,
YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

There is a spirit in the world, in the church and even in the Messianic movement that will do everything it can to prevent a remnant zealously seeking to return to the high calling of YHVH in Messiah Yahshua.
Php 3:14  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of Elohim in Messiah יהושע.

We must be warned that the spirit of “Laban” the religious spirit of this world will do everything in its power to prevent us from returning to the land and returning to Patriarchal rule – where righteous men who properly understand Torah rule with righteous authority preparing the way for the return of Messiah.

This spirit will do everything in its power to keep us in bondage and under its control.

The reality is that many zealously seeking after truth, often find themselves empty and confused.
This Torah portion teaches us that YHVH allows barrenness for a reason and for a season, but after a season of barrenness He brings an abundant provision for those who are called by Him and who wait on Him.

Tehillim/Psa 126:1  When יהוה turns back the captivity of Tsiyon, We shall be like dreamers.
Psa 126:2  Then our mouth shall be filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing, Then shall they say among the gentiles, “יהוה has done great deeds for them.”
Psa 126:3  יהוה shall do great deeds for us, We shall be glad.
Psa 126:4  Turn back our captivity, O יהוה, Like the streams in the South.
Psa 126:5  Those sowing in tears, shall reap with songs of joy.
Psa 126:6  He who goes on and weeps, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall indeed come in with rejoicing, Bearing his sheaves.

Our Torah portion begins:
Beresheet/Gen 30:22  And Elohim remembered Raḥĕl, and Elohim listened to her and opened her womb.

This verse reminds us that barrenness for all those who called by Elohim is always only for a season.
YHVH is using covenantal language here, it often appears that after long seasons of barrenness YHVH brings fruitfulness to remind us that only by His goodness and mercy are we blessed.

Gen 30:23  And she conceived, and bore a son, and said, “Elohim has taken away my reproach.”

Yeshayahu/Isa 54:1  “Sing, O barren one, you who did not bear! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not been in labour! For the children of the deserted one are more than the children of the married woman,” said יהוה.
Isa 54:2  “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not. Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
Isa 54:3  “For you shall break forth to the right and to the left, and your seed inherit the nations, and make the deserted cities inhabited.
Isa 54:4  “Do not fear, for you shall not be put to shame, nor hurt, you shall not be humiliated. For the shame of your youth you shall forget, and not remember the reproach of your widowhood any more.
Isa 54:5  “For your Maker is your husband, יהוה of hosts is His Name, and the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl is your Redeemer. He is called the Elohim of all the earth.
Isa 54:6  “For יהוה has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when you were refused,” declares your Elohim.
Isa 54:7  “For a little while I have forsaken you, but with great compassion I shall gather you.
Isa 54:8  “In an overflow of wrath I hid My face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I shall have compassion on you,” said יהוה, your Redeemer.

Gen 30:24  So she called his name Yosĕph, and said, “יהוה has added to me another son.”

Gen 30:25  And it came to be, when Raḥĕl had borne Yosĕph, that Ya’aqoḇ said to Laḇan, “Send me on my way, to go to my own place and to my land.

We see that YHVH’s covenant with Yisrael is always attached to returning to their real home – Yisrael.

Yosef shadows many messianic realities. The arrival of Yosef may be compared to the return of the Messiah. This could also usher in a period of time when the returning remnant come out from the control of Lavan and begin to experience supernatural provision and blessing.

Gen 30:26  “Give my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go, for you yourself know my service which I have done for you.”

The restoration of Yakov’s tents will be understood in the latter days.

Yirmeyahu/Jer 30:18  “Thus said יהוה, ‘See, I turn back the captivity of Ya’aqoḇ’s tents, and have compassion on his dwelling places. And the city shall be built upon its own mound, and the palace stand on its right place (rebuilding of Yerushalayim and the Temple)
Jer 30:19  ‘And out of them shall arise thanksgiving and the voice of those who are laughing. And I shall increase them, and they shall not diminish. And I shall esteem them, and they shall not be small.
Jer 30:20  ‘And his children shall be as before, and his congregation shall be established before Me. And I shall punish all who oppress them.
Jer 30:21  ‘And his Prince shall be from him, and his Ruler shall come from among him. And I shall bring him near, and he shall approach Me, for who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ declares יהוה.
Jer 30:22  ‘And you shall be My people, and I shall be your Elohim.’ ”
Jer 30:23  See, the storm of יהוה shall go forth in a rage, a whirling storm! It bursts upon the head of the wrong.
Jer 30:24  The burning displeasure of יהוה shall not turn back until He has done and established the purposes of His heart. In the latter days you shall understand it1. Footnote: 1See 23:20.

“Yahshua as the Prince and Ruler that shall come forth to establish the congregation of “keihelah” clearly informed us that HE WILL BUILD HIS “KEIHELAH”. This building takes place on the ancient Hebraic roots.”

Mat 16:16  And Shim’on Kĕpha answering, said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living Elohim.”
Mat 16:17  And יהושע answering, said to him, “Blessed are you, Shim’on Bar-Yonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in the heavens.
Mat 16:18  “And I also say to you that you are Kĕpha, and on this rock I shall build My assembly, and the gates of the grave shall not overcome it.
Mat 16:19  “And I shall give you the keys of the reign of the heavens, and whatever you bind1 on earth shall be having been bound1 in the heavens, and whatever you loosen1 on earth shall be having been loosened1 in the heavens.” Footnote: 1Binding and loosening is Heḇrew idiom for exercising authority (to prohibit and permit).

Gen 30:27  And Laḇan said to him, “If I have found favour in your eyes, please stay, for I have diligently watched that יהוה has blessed me for your sake.”
Gen 30:28  And he said, “Name me your wages, and I give it.”
Gen 30:29  So he said to him, “You know how I have served you and how your livestock has been with me.
Gen 30:30  “For the little you had before I came has increased greatly, and יהוה has blessed you since my coming. But now, when am I to provide for my own house too?”
Gen 30:31  And he said, “What do I give you?” And Ya’aqoḇ said, “Give me naught! If you do this for me, I shall again feed and guard your flocks:
Gen 30:32  “Let me pass through all your flock today, removing from there all the speckled and spotted sheep, and all the black ones among the lambs, and the spotted and speckled among the goats. And these shall be my wages.
Gen 30:33  “And my righteousness shall answer for me in time to come, when you come concerning my wages: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and black among the lambs, it is stolen if it is with me.”
Gen 30:34  And Laḇan said, “See, let it be according to your word!”
Gen 30:35  And on that day he set aside the male goats that were speckled and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had some white in it, and all the black ones among the lambs, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
Gen 30:36  And he put three days’ journey between himself and Ya’aqoḇ, and Ya’aqoḇ fed the rest of Laḇan’s flocks.
Gen 30:37  And Ya’aqoḇ took for himself rods of green poplar and of the almond and chestnut trees, peeled white strips in them, and exposed the white which was in the rods.
Gen 30:38  And he set the rods which he had peeled before the flocks in the gutters, in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink, and they conceived when they came to drink.
Gen 30:39  So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted.
Gen 30:40  And Ya’aqoḇ separated the lambs, and made the flocks face toward the streaked and all the black in the flock of Laḇan, but he put his own flocks by themselves and did not put them with Laḇan’s flock.
Gen 30:41  And it came to be, whenever the strong ones of the flock conceived, that Ya’aqoḇ placed the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, so they would conceive among the rods.
Gen 30:42  But when the flocks were weak, he did not put them in, so the weak ones were Laḇan’s and the strong ones Ya’aqoḇ’s.
Gen 30:43  Thus the man increased very much, and had many flocks, and female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.
Gen 31:1  And he heard the words of Laḇan’s sons, saying, “Ya’aqoḇ has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what belonged to our father he has made all this wealth.”
Gen 31:2  And Ya’aqoḇ would look at the face of Laḇan and see that it was not toward him as before.

Yakov was not trying to deceive Lavan he was given a message in a dream that would cause increase to come into  his life.

Gen 31:11  “And the Messenger of Elohim spoke to me in a dream, saying, ‘Ya’aqoḇ.’ And I said, ‘Here I am.’
Gen 31:12  “And He said, ‘Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and mottled, for I have seen all that Laḇan is doing to you.
Gen 31:13  ‘I am the Ěl of Bĕyth Ěl, where you anointed the standing column and where you made a vow to Me. Now rise up, get out of this land, and return to the land of your relatives.’ ”

The increase of wealth is meant to establish the covenant of YHVH.

Devarim/Deu 8:18  “But you shall remember יהוה your Elohim, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, in order to establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is today.
Patriarchal relationships require money. In a Patriarchal society set apart men take care of the communities’ needs.

Failing to align ourselves with such a community could mean exclusion from the commonwealth of Yisrael. We were not saved to be lone rangers or independent operators with agenda’s contrary to the Torah.

1John 2:19  They went out from us, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would have stayed with us – but in order that it might be made manifest that none of them were of us.

Trust YHVH to add you to a Torah community that will soon enjoy the blessing and abundant provision of His covenant with Yisrael.

“Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet,
v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth,
and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn
