Parashat 2 Portion 7 – Ber/Gen 8:15- 9:17 Yesh/Is 42:6-21 2Tim 2:8-19

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed! Baruch ata YHVH
Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to.
Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah. Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

Isa 42:18  “Hear, you deaf! And look, you blind, and see.
Isa 42:19  “Who is blind but My servant, or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is at peace, and blind as servant of יהוה
Isa 42:20  “You see much, but do not guard; ears are open, but do not hear.”
Isa 42:21  It has delighted יהוה, for the sake of His righteousness, to make the Torah great and esteemed.
Isa 42:22  But this is a people robbed and plundered, all of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses. They have become a prey, with no one to deliver – for plunder, and no one to say, “Restore!”
Isa 42:23  Who among you gives ear to this, pays attention and hears for the time to come?
Isa 42:24  Who gave Ya‛aqoḇ for plunder, and Yisra’ěl to the robbers? Was it not יהוה, He against whom we sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, and they did not obey His Torah!
Isa 42:25  So He has poured on him His burning displeasure and the strength of battle, and it set him on fire all around, yet he did not understand. And it burned against him, yet he did not take it to heart!

Gen 8:15  And Elohim spoke to Noaḥ, saying,
Gen 8:16  “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.
Gen 8:17  “Bring out with you every life form of all flesh that is with you: of birds, of cattle and all creeping creatures – the creeping creatures on the earth. And let them teem on the earth, and bear and increase on the earth.” (be fruitful used 3 times in this portion)
Gen 8:18  So Noaḥ went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him,
Gen 8:19  every beast, every creeping creature, and every bird, whatever creeps on the earth, according to their kinds, went out of the ark.
YHVH's Covenant with Noach
Gen 8:20  And Noaḥ built a slaughter-place to יהוה, and took of every clean beast and of every clean bird, and offered ascending offerings on the slaughter-place.
Gen 8:21  And יהוה smelled a soothing fragrance, and יהוה said in His heart, “Never again shall I curse the ground because of man, although the inclination (yetzer) of man’s heart is evil from his youth, and never again strike all living creatures, as I have done, (‘’yeter’’used before the flood 6:5 and after vs 21)

Psa 51:5  See, I was brought forth in crookedness, And in sin my mother conceived me.
Psa 58:3  The wrong have been estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.

Ecc 9:3  This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: there is one event to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are filled with evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and then – to the dead!

Jer 17:9  “The heart is crooked[a] above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it? Footnote: a Jer_7:24, Jer_16:12, Jer_18:12, Jer_23:17
Job 15:14  What is man, that he should be clean? And one born of a woman, that he should be righteous? Job 15:15  Look, He puts no trust in His set-apart ones, and the heavens are not clean in His eyes, Job 15:16  how much less one who is loathsome and corrupt, drinking unrighteousness like water!

Psa 143:2  And do not enter into right-ruling with Your servant, For before You no one living is in the right.

Rom 3:10  As it has been written, “There is none righteous, no, not one!
Rom 3:11  “There is no one who is understanding, there is none who is seeking Elohim.
Rom 3:12  “They all have turned aside, they have together become worthless. There is none who does good, no, not one.” Psa_14:1-3, Psa_53:1-4. Rom 3:13  “Their throat is an open tomb, with their tongues they have deceived,” Psa_5:9 “The poison of adders is under their lips,” Psa_140:3
Rom 3:14  “Whose mouth is filled with cursing and bitterness.” Psa_10:7. Rom 3:15  “Their feet are swift to shed blood, Pro_1:16. Rom 3:16  ruin and wretchedness are in their ways, Rom 3:17  and the way of peace they have not known.” Isa_59:7. Rom 3:18  “There is no fear of Elohim before their eyes.” Psa_36:1

Isa 64:6  And all of us have become as one unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as soiled rags. (soiled menstrual cloth)And all of us fade like a leaf, and our crookednesses, like the wind, have taken us away.

What then is the remedy?

Isa 53:1  Who has believed our report? And to whom was the arm of יהוה revealed?
Isa 53:2  For He grew up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or splendour that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should desire Him –
Isa 53:3  despised and rejected by men, a man of pains and knowing sickness. And as one from whom the face is hidden, being despised, and we did not consider Him.
Isa 53:4  Truly, He has borne our sicknesses and carried our pains. Yet we reckoned Him smitten·, stricken by Elohim, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5  But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookednesses. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6  We all, like sheep, went astray, each one of us has turned to his own way. And יהוה has laid on Him the crookedness of us all.
Isa 53:7  He was oppressed and He was afflicted, but He did not open His mouth. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, but He did not open His mouth.
Isa 53:8  He was taken from prison and from judgment. And as for His generation, who considered that He shall be cut off from the land of the living? For the transgression of My people He was stricken.
Isa 53:9  And He was appointed a burial-site with the wrong, and with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was deceit in His mouth.[a] Footnote: a 1Pe_2:22
Isa 53:10  But יהוה was pleased to crush Him, He laid sickness on Him, that when He made Himself an offering for guilt, He would see a seed, He would prolong His days and the pleasure of יהוה prosper in His hand.
Isa 53:11  He would see the result of the suffering of His life and be satisfied. Through His knowledge My righteous Servant makes many righteous, and He bears their crookednesses.
Isa 53:12  Therefore I give Him a portion among the great, and He divides the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His being unto death, and He was counted with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

1Pe 2:24  who Himself bore our sins Isa_53:4 in His body on the timber, so that we, having died to sins, might live unto righteousness[k]by whose stripes you were healed. Isa_53:5 Footnote: k Rom_6:2, 1Pe_4:1-2
1Pe 2:25  For you were like sheep going astray, Isa_53:6 but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your beings.

Even though as believers in the Kingdom we can and should experience righteousness peace and joy in the ‘’Ruach Ha Kodesh’’ (Rom 14:17). Its ok not to feel ok sometimes because we are not yet fully ok, but He is ok and because He is ok he is busy making us  perfectly ok.
2Co 5:21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of Elohim. (note ‘’becoming’’)

Gen 8:22  as long as the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
Gen 9:1  And Elohim blessed Noaḥ and his sons, and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase, and fill the earth.
Gen 9:2  “And the fear of you and the dread of you is on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the heavens, on all that creeps on the ground, and on all the fish of the sea – into your hand they have been given.
Gen 9:3  “Every creeping creature that lives is food for you. I have given you all, as I gave the green plants.

This verse has created some confusion and controversy, however the regarding the laws of ‘’kashrut’’ YHVH and His Torah would not contradict themselves. (From now on man has permission to eat meat - clean meat).
Gen 9:4  “But do not eat flesh with its life, its blood.
Gen 9:5  “But only your blood for your lives I require, from the hand of every beast I require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I require the life of man.
Gen 9:6  “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood is shed, for in the image of Elohim has He made man.

From these verses the rabbis invented the seven ‘’Noachide laws’’ between 200 and 500 CE.
Num 15:14  And when a stranger sojourns with you, or whoever is among you throughout your generations, and would make an offering made by fire, a sweet fragrance to יהוה, as you do, so he does.
Num 15:15  One law is for you of the assembly and for the stranger who sojourns with you – a law forever throughout your generations. As you are, so is the stranger before יהוה
Num 15:16  One Torah and one right-ruling is for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you.’

The following is known as the ''letter to the gentiles who left behind their idolic ways to follow the Elohim of Yisrael: Act 15:19  “Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the nations who are turning to Elohim,
Act 15:20  but that we write to them to abstain from the defilements of idols,[a] and from whoring,[b] and from what is strangled,[c] and from blood.[d] Footnotes: a Exo_22:20, Lev_17:7, Deu_32:17, Deu_32:21, 1Co_10:14, 1Co_10:20-21. b Num_25:1-3, Lev_17:7. c Gen_9:4, Eze_33:25 (Strangled - One way of eating meat with blood) Pro_21:25. d Lev_17:10-14
Act 15:21  “For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.” (So as they hear and learn Torah every week, they would obey and follow more and more of the Torah instructions.)

Gen 9:11  “And I shall establish My covenant with you, and never again is all flesh cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again is there a flood to destroy the earth.”
Gen 9:12  And Elohim said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living being that is with you, for all generations to come:
Gen 9:13  “I shall set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.
Gen 9:14  “And it shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud,
Gen 9:15  and I shall remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living being of all flesh, and never again let the waters become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Gen 9:17  And Elohim said to Noaḥ, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
