Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, You have set us apart by Your
commandments and have commanded us to actively study Your Torah. Please YHVH,
our Elohim, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our mouths and in the mouths of
all Your people Israel. May You open our eyes to see marvellous truths from
Your Torah. Thank You for calling us who were once gentiles excluded from the
citizenship of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise having no
expectation and without Elohim- but now through the blood of Messiah we have
gained access into the covenant and have obtained citizenship into the
commonwealth of Israel. Blessed are You,
YHVH, Who teaches Torah to His people Israel.
Amein
רב לכם – this is getting too much for you ……. ‘’you’ve had
enough it’s time to move on’’ …vs 3
Its like YHVH is saying to His people ‘’this is enough, now it is time for you to move on” We are possibly living in a similar time!
This Torah portion also offers valuable insight into one of the most serious challenges an end time generation will face and that is ‘’jumping the gun’’ or making important decisions which are wrong and could cause huge loss and devastation. Unconfessed sin is one problem, but presumption can also become an even greater problem.
‘’For example, classical rabbinical texts mocks the tribe of Ephraim (us) for being headstrong, they left Egypt 30 years prior to the Exodus, and on arrival in Canaan was subjected to a disastrous battle with the Philistines;[19] in the Midrashic Jasher this is portrayed as a rebellion of Ephraim against God, resulting in the slaying of all but 10, (of 200 000 men) and the bleached bones of the slaughtered being strewn across the roads, so much so that the circuitous route of the Exodus was simply an attempt by God to prevent the Israelites from having to suffer the sight of the remains.[19] ‘’ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe_of_Ephraim ‘’
It appears that many end time ‘’Ephraimites’’ are about to repeat the same mistake. Some predicted the rapture would take place on the 2nd of October 2024 – the beginning of the Tribulation – this was based on many nations recent signing of the ‘’Pact for the future’’ at a meeting of the United Nations. Many believers today portray an air of superiority, invincibility and entitlement. This is destined to result in great heartache and tragedy.
This Torah portion reminds us that we can only say we have had enough when YHVH says we have had enough – and we can only move forward on our end time journey when YHVH says we can move on. This Torah portion also provides vital information on the specific battles we are to engage in and the specific battles we must avoid, and to allow YHVH to eventually crush all the enemies of Israel.
Deu 2:1 “Then we turned and set out into the
wilderness, the way of the Sea of Reeds, as יהוה spoke to me, and we went round Mount Sĕʽir, many days.
Deu
2:2 “And יהוה spoke to me, saying,
Deu
2:3 You have gone around this mountain long enough, turn northward.
Deu 2:4 ‘And command the people, saying, “You are
about to pass over into the border of your brothers, the descendants of Ěsaw,
who live in Sĕʽir, and they are afraid of you. So be on your guard.
Deu
2:5 “Do not strive with them, for I do not give you any of their
land, no, not so much as one footstep, because I have given Mount Sĕʽir to Ěsaw as a possession.
Deu
2:6 “What food you buy from them with
silver you shall eat. And also, what water you buy (כּרה) from them with silver you
shall drink. כּרה to dig or to excavate not buy.
Deu 2:7 “For יהוה your Elohim has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He has known your wandering through this great wilderness. These forty years יהוה your Elohim has been with you, you have not lacked any matter.”
Deu
2:8 “And when we passed beyond our
brothers, the descendants of Ěsaw who dwell in Sĕʽir, away from the way of the desert
plain, away from Ěylath and Etsyon Geḇer, we turned and passed over by way of the
Wilderness of Mo’aḇ.
Deu
2:9 “And יהוה said to me, ‘Do not distress Mo’aḇ, nor stir yourself up against them
in battle, for I do not give you any of their land as a possession, because I
have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession.’ ”
Deu
2:10 (The Ěmites had dwelt there
formerly, a people as great and numerous and tall as the Anaqim.
Deu
2:11 They were also reckoned as
Repha’ites, (an old tribe of giants)like the Anaqim,(long necked giants) but
the Mo’aḇites call them Ěmites. (Gen 6 – Nephalim)
Deu
2:12 And the Ḥorites formerly dwelt in
Sĕʽir, but the
descendants of Ěsaw dispossessed them and destroyed them from before them, and
dwelt in their place, as Yisra’ĕl did to the land of their possession which יהוה gave them).
Deu
2:13 “ ‘Now rise up, and pass over the
wadi Zereḏ.’ So we passed over the wadi Zereḏ.
Deu
2:14 “And the time we took to come from
Qaḏĕsh Barnĕa
until we passed over the wadi Zereḏ was thirty-eight years, until all the
generation of the men of battle was consumed from the midst of the camp, as יהוה had sworn to them.
Deu
2:15 “And also, the hand of יהוה was against them, to destroy
them from the midst of the camp until they were consumed.
Deu
2:16 “And it came to be, when all the
men of battle had finally perished from among the people,
Deu
2:17 that יהוה spoke to me, saying,
Deu
2:18 ‘This day you are to pass over at
Ar, the boundary of Mo’aḇ.
Deu
2:20 (That was also reckoned as a land
of Repha’ites. Repha’ites formerly dwelt there. But the Ammonites call them
Zamzummim, (Heb ‘’plotters of evil’’)
Deu
2:21 a people as great and numerous and
tall as the Anaqim. But יהוה
destroyed them before them, and they dispossessed them and dwelt in their
place,
Deu
2:22 as He had done for the descendants
of Ěsaw, who dwelt in Sĕʽir, when He destroyed the Ḥorites from before them. They dispossessed
them and dwelt in their place, even to this day.
Deu 2:24 ‘Arise, set out and pass over the wadi Arnon.
See, I have given into your hand Siḥon the Amorite, sovereign of Ḥeshbon, and
his land. Begin to possess it, and stir up yourself against him in battle. Gen
6
Deu 2:25 ‘This day I begin to put the dread and fear
of you upon the peoples under all the heavens, who, when they hear the report
of you, shall tremble and shake because of you.’
Deu
2:26 “Then I sent messengers from the
Wilderness of Qeḏĕmoth to Siḥon (exterminator) sovereign of Ḥeshbon, with words of
peace, saying,
Deu
2:27 ‘Let me pass over through your land
on the highway. I shall go on the highway and turn neither to the right nor to
the left.
Deu
2:28 ‘What food you sell me for silver I
shall eat, and what water you give me for silver I shall drink. Only let me
pass over on foot,
Deu
2:29 as the descendants of Ěsaw who
dwell in Sĕʽir and the Mo’aḇites who dwell in Ar did for me – until I pass over the Yardĕn to the
land יהוה
our Elohim is giving us.’
Deu 2:30 “But Siḥon sovereign of Ḥeshbon would not let us pass over, for יהוה your Elohim hardened his spirit and strengthened his heart, to give him into your hand, as it is this day.
Moshe the prophet like unto Yahshua – Deut 18:18; Acts 3:22-26; Acts 7:37 - gives a prophetic outline and instructions of how an end time generation will take possession of the promised land. Israel is to avoid certain nations and people and then also commanded to destroy certain nations and peoples. It is important to note that no nation will be spared in the last days who seeks to interfere with returning of the 12 tribes to establish Israel and the Messianic rule; however YHVH seems to have specific instructions as to how this will take place.
His instructions begin with Esa and the Edomites. There are many hidden truths about Esaw and the hatred he has for the Jewish people that will be clearly revealed in the last days.
Oba 1:6 “How Ěsaw shall be searched out! His hidden
treasures(matters) shall be sought out!
Oba 1:10 “Because of your violence against your
brother Yaʽaqoḇ, let shame cover you. And you shall be cut off
forever. (a violence that began in their mother’s womb – Gen 25:23)
Oba 1:18 “And the house of Yaʽaqoḇ shall be a fire, and the house of Yosĕph a flame, but the house of Ěsaw for stubble. And they shall burn among them and they shall consume them, so that no survivor is left of the house of Ěsaw.” For יהוה has spoken.
Esaw’s favourite hiding place has been in religion - Christian religion – Jewish religion and Islamic religion. The most dangerous enemy is the one who deceives you, who pretends to be your friend, who claims to really have your interests at heart but is only concerned about how they can manipulate and control you for the sake of their cause, to plunder you and enrich themselves – this is the Edomite spirit.
Esaw will earn his living by the sword, plundering from wars or working as a mercenary, often in the name of their god. We see this is what Esaw has done. According to the Torah, Esaw did not receive the blessing of the first born from Yitschak. Esaw receives only a secondary blessing, yet it is said that he will for a time have ascendancy over Yakov.
Gen 27:40 And by your sword you are to live, and serve your brother. And it shall be, when you grow restless, that you shall break his yoke from your neck.”
This is possibly the current state of affairs in the world – however when Messiah returns Esaw and his descendants will be completely destroyed – Obad 1:18…. so that no survivor is left of the house of Ěsaw.” For יהוה has spoken.
In an article on
"Edom", the Jewish Encyclopdia (1925 edition), has this statement:
"(In 163BC)
Judas Maccabeus conquered the [Edomite[ territory for a time. They [the
Edomites] were again subdued by John Hyrcanus (about 125 BC), by whom they were
forced to observe Jewish rites and laws. They were then incorporated with the
Jewish nation, and their country was called by the Greeks and Romans,
"Idumea." With Antipater began the Idumean dynasty that ruled over
Judea till its conquest by the Romans . . . From this time the Idumeans ceased
to be a separate people."
Why? – because they assimilated into all the nations of the world.
In Num 31:16 we see how Bilaam advised to destroy Yisrael – by causing them to intermarry with the nations around them.
One of the most famous Edomites in the Scriptures was Herod. It is a historical fact that Herod is recognized not as a Jew from the Tribe of Judah, but as an Idumaean an Edomite.
Clarke's Commentary says that Constantine and the emperors after him were all Edomites. This comes from Adam Clarke’s commentary on ISAIAH 34: "This chapter points out the future destruction of Rome, which is here called Bosra; for Bosra was a great city of the Edomites. Now a major part of the Romans are Edomites, who profess the law of Jesus. The Emperor Caesar was an Edomite, and so were all the emperors after him.
Bosra or Botzrah was only a nick name for the city of Rome. Botzra is actually one the chief cities of Edom. In the last days this very stronghold of Esaw will become the place of refuge for a fleeing multitude of Yakov - those who have the testimony of Yahshua and keep the commandments. See also Is 63:1-6
The coming destruction of the Edomites is for the last days.
Mal 1:3 but I have hated Ěsaw, and have laid waste his mountains and his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness.” (repeated Rom 9:13)
The Edomites were
the founders of the Catholic Church under Constantine. And Esau was a pagan who
would have practiced the moon god religion of his Canaanite and Ishmaelite
wives.
Heb 12:17 For you know that afterward, when he wished to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it with tears.
This ancient
history also gives us insight into the challenges we will face in the last
days.
However, we need to
remind ourselves who Yehoshua and Kalev were.
It is also amazing that Yehoshua was an Ephramite and Kalev was an Edomite- Caleb the spy is the son of Jephunneh. Jephunneh is called a Kenizzite (Numbers 32:12, Joshua 14:6,14). The Kenizzites are listed (Genesis 15:19) as one of the nations who lived in the land of Canaan, The Kenizzites are generally considered an Edomite clan (see Genesis 36:40–43) Matt 10:4
What about Mosab Hassan Yousef? A born again Palestinian from Gaza and son of Hamas founder.
Let’s take a closer look at Moab and Amon – Present day Jordan
Deu 2:19 ‘And when you come near the children of Ammon, do not distress them nor stir yourself up against them, for I do not give you any of the land of the children of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the descendants of Lot as a possession.’
Dan
11:40 “At the time of the end the sovereign of the South shall push at
him, and the sovereign of the North rush against him like a whirlwind, with
chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships. And he shall enter the lands,
and shall overflow and pass over,
Dan
11:41 and shall enter the Splendid Land, and many shall stumble, but
these escape from his hand: Eḏom, and Mo’aḇ, and the chief of the sons of Ammon. The Time of the End
Dan
12:1 “Now at that time Miḵa’ěl shall stand up, the great head who is
standing over the sons of your people. And there shall be a time of distress,
such as never was since there was a nation, until that time. And at that time
your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the
book,
Dan
12:2 and many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth wake up, some
to everlasting life, and some to reproaches, everlasting abhorrence.
Dan
12:3 “And those who have insight shall shine like the brightness of the
expanse, and those who lead many to righteousness like the stars forever and
ever.
Dan 12:4 “But you, Dani’ěl, hide the words, and seal the book until the time of the end.[a] Many shall diligently search and knowledge shall increase.” Footnote: aSee Dan_12:9.
Israel’s Escape to Petra, the Mountain Stronghold - Petra, meaning “Rock” in Greek, is a deserted city south of the Dead Sea in Jordan. In antiquity it was known as Seir, metropolis of the Edomites. In later times, the Nabateans settled in the mountain stronghold of the dislodged Edomites and called their capital Petra.
Deu 2:3 You have gone around this mountain long enough, רב לכם turn northward.
Rev
12:7 And there came to be fighting in the heaven: Miḵa’ěl and his messengers fought
against the dragon. And the dragon and his messengers fought,
Rev
12:8 but they were not strong enough, nor was a place found for them in
the heaven any longer.
Rev
12:9 And the great dragon was thrown out, that serpent of old, called the
Devil and Satan, who leads all the world astray. He was thrown to the earth,
and his messengers were thrown out with him.
Rev
12:13 And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he
persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.
Rev
12:14 And the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, to fly into the
wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and
half a time, Dan_7:25, Dan_12:7 from the presence of the
serpent.
Rev
12:15 And out of his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river after
the woman, to cause her to be swept away by the river.
Rev
12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed up the river which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
Rev
12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight
with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the commands of Elohim and
possessing the witness of יהושע Messiah.
In the
last days there will be a dividing of sheep from sheep – Ezek 34:17 – those who
have authentic Jewish souls and those who don’t – those who eat crumbs and
those who eat bread – Mat 15:21-28 – from the House of Bread – Beit – Lechem –
and are invited to His table to share this bread with Him who is the Bread of
Life.
Rth 1:16 But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you, or to go back from following after you. For wherever you go, I go; and wherever you stop over, I stop over. Your people is my people, and your Elohim is my Elohim.
The battle we must fight:
Deu
2:23 And the Awwim (perverters) who
dwelt in villages as far as Azzah, the Kaphtorim who came from
Kaphtor,(original seat of the Philistines) destroyed them and dwelt in their
place).
Deu
2:24 ‘Arise, set out and pass over the
wadi Arnon. See, I have given into your hand Siḥon the Amorite, sovereign of
Ḥeshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and stir up yourself against him
in battle. Gen 6 - YHVH never promised them the land of Israel – they have
always tried to violently seize Israel’s inheritance.
Deu 2:25 ‘This day I begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the peoples under all the heavens, who, when they hear the report of you, shall tremble and shake because of you.’
Deu 2:30 “But Siḥon sovereign of Ḥeshbon would not let us pass over, for יהוה your Elohim hardened his spirit and strengthened his heart, to give him into your hand, as it is this day.
And Israel is currently fighting this war on our behalf.
The rest
of this portion speaks about a people who Israel is busy wiping off the face of
the earth.
Ecc 3:1
For every matter there is an appointed time, even a time for every
pursuit under the heavens: Ecc 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to uproot;
Ecc 3:3 a time to kill, and a time
to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Ecc 3:4 a time to weep, and a time
to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ecc 3:5 a time to throw away
stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain
from embracing;
Ecc 3:6 a time to seek, and a time

Ecc 3:7 a time to tear, and a time

has made it all, beautiful in its time. Even the ages He has put in their
hearts, except that no one finds out the work that Elohim does from beginning
to end.
Blessed are you Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Amein.
