Parashat 1 Portion 3 Ber/Gen 5:1-6:8 Yesh/Is 30:8-15 Matt 23:1-29

Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples and have given us your Torah. Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.

זה ספר תולדת

Gen 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Aḏam.  Genesis 5:1 “Zeh sefer toledot Adam.”   In Rabbinic tradition, this book (sefer) includes every generation, Messiah included.

Mat 1:1  The book of the genealogy of יהושע Messiah - ספר תולדת ישוע

Both Gen 5:1 and Mat 1:1 contain the exact same phrase in Hebrew - זה ספר תולדת – in both scriptures ‘’toldot’’ or תולדת are presented without the second ‘’vav’’ see Parashat 1 Portion 2 Gen 2:4 אֵלֶּה תוֹלְדוֹת הַשָּׁמַיִם. Ruth 4:18

This is a hidden reference to the fact that YHVH continues to ‘’create’’ the ‘’toldot’’ of the first Adam and the second Adam until their perfect completion of ‘’one new man’’

YHVH’s plan is clear – Eph 2:15 …. so as to create in Himself one renewed man from the two, thus making peace, Eph 2:16  and to completely restore to favour both of them unto Elohim in one body through the stake, having destroyed the enmity by it.

Act 17:26  “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, having ordained beforehand the times and the boundaries of their dwelling, Act 17:27  to seek the Master, if at least they would reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. Act 17:28  “For in Him we live and move and are, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

Gen 5:2 Male and female He created them, and He blessed them, and called their name Aḏam in the day they were created.

YHVH called them both “Adam” — the perfect image of YHVH will one day again be revealed in Adam when he and Eve - joined together in perfect harmony with one another and with YHVH.

Only Yahshua can make this possible.

Eph 5:31  “For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” Gen_2:24. Eph 5:32  This secret is great, but I speak concerning Messiah and the assembly.

Col 2:9  Because in Him (Yahshua) dwells all the completeness of Elohim-ness bodily, Col 2:10  and you (2nd person plural) have been made complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and authority.  (“already made complete by YHVH, and that completeness continues until perfect perfection.”)

Paul goes on to warn us that when partaking of the Passover, we should carefully examine ourselves to make sure that we are not hindering in any way YHVH’s goal of ‘’creating’’ the one new man in Messiah. The consequences of such a violation would bring sickness and even premature death for believers.

1Co 11:3 And I wish you to know that the head of every man is the Messiah,a and the head of woman is the man,b and the head of Messiah is Elohim.c Footnotes: a Eph_1:22, Eph_4:15, Eph_5:23. b Gen_3:16. c 1Co_3:23, Jhn_14:28

1Co 11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, brings shame to his Head. (the government of YHVH has always been masculine)

1Co 11:5 And every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered brings shame to her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved.

1Co 11:6 For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.d Footnote: d Num_5:18

1Co 11:7 For a man indeed should not cover his head, since he is the likeness and esteem of Elohim, but woman is the esteem of man.

1Co 11:8 For man is not from woman, but woman from man.

1Co 11:9 For man also was not created for the woman, but woman for the man.

1Co 11:10 Because of this the woman ought to have authoritye on her head, because of the messengers. Footnote: eSome say “a symbol of authority.”

1Co 11:11 However, man is not independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Master.

1Co 11:12 For as the woman was from the man, even so the man also is through the woman. But all are from Elohim.

1Co 11:13 Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to Elohim with her head uncovered?

1Co 11:14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man indeed has long hair, it is a disrespect to him?

1Co 11:15 And if a woman has long hair, it is an esteem to her, because the long hair has been given to her over against a veil.

1Co 11:16 If, however, anyone seems to be contentious, we do not have such a habit, nor do the assemblies of Elohim.

In certain streams of early Christian interpretation (and influenced by Second Temple Jewish lore), 1 Cor 11 was linked to Gen 6.

Gen 5:3 continues from Gen 2:4 describing ‘’toldot’’ (generations) without the second ‘’vav’’ (Torah) In other words ‘’the ‘’toldot’’ await a ‘’completion.’’

However, embedded within this ‘’incomplete toldot’’ is a secret, hidden from plain view, but critical for us to grasp and internalize to be part of the great restoration of all things in the last days. The secret lies in the meanings behind the names of the first 10 generation of Adam’s ‘’toldot’’ or generations found here in Gen 5.

Gen 5:3 And Aḏam lived one hundred and thirty years, and brought forth a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Shĕth.

Adam means ‘’man’’

One of the most common titles for Yashua was the “Son of Adam”. Yahshua is referred to as the Son of Man/Adam 88 times in the Apostolic scriptures and only 47 times as the Son of Elohim.

Yahshua is also referred to as the second man and the last Adam 1 Cor 15:45-48

Gen 5:4 And after he brought forth Shĕth, the days of Aḏam were eight hundred years. And he brought forth sons and daughters.

Seth is the “appointed one”, replacing Abel, the slain righteous son.

Gen 5:5 So all the days that Aḏam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

Gen 5:6 And Shĕth lived one hundred and five years and brought forth Enosh.

“Enosh” – Mortal man - desperate, incurable, desperately wicked – sorrowful or melancholic.

Now here comes the secret and without any question one of the greatest mysteries made known to man:

1Ti 3:16  And, beyond all question, the secret of reverence (set apartness) is great – who was revealed in the flesh, declared right in Spirit, was seen by messengers, was proclaimed among nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in esteem.

Giving of the Torah (Sinai)

  • Shabbat 88b–89a (Talmud Bavli): The angels argued with God, asking why the Torah should be given to flesh and blood rather than to heavenly beings.
  • Moses responded: “Do you have a father and mother to honor? Do you suffer from evil inclination? … The Torah was meant for mankind.”
  • Here angels marvel that humans, with weakness, are chosen over them for covenantal intimacy with God.

Pesikta Rabbati 36: When Messiah is revealed, God shows him the sufferings of Israel and Messiah accepts them. Angels marvel that God’s redemption works through suffering and through a man of sorrows.

things into which angels long to look.” (1 Peter 1:10–12)

***What makes this mystery most profound is that if we walk in the light of this mystery now, we most probably won’t be deceived by the anti- Christ in the last days.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved ones, do not believe every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of Elohim, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1Jn 4:2 By this you know the Spirit of Elohim: Every spirit that confesses that יהושע Messiah has come in the flesh is of Elohim,

1Jn 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess that יהושע Messiah has come in the flesh is not of Elohim. And this is the spirit of the anti-messiah which you heard is coming and now is already in the world. Acts 17:30

It is about the ‘’humanity’’ of Yahshua. Yahshua was created by YHVH – Yahshua is not a self-existent Deity. I believe this will become one of the most critical issues facing YHVH’s people in these last days. Mankind is forbidden to worship and serve two Gods and before Yahshua returns this matter will have to be sorted out. The world is about to be introduced to the God of the Hebrews. (not the Gods of the Hebrews)

Why is the set apartness of the Messiah so great a ‘’mega mustrion’’?

And it’s hidden in this parasha:

“The Son of Man (Adam/Yahshua)

 ‘’is appointed’’ (Seth)

‘’to sorrow and sadness, even death’’ (Enosh)

‘’man lamented and longed for a safe refuge (Kingdom)’’ (Qeynan)

‘’then the praise of Elohim’’ Mahalal’ĕl

‘’came downward’’ ‘’Yered’’

‘’and was appointed and dedicated’’ ‘’Enoch’’

‘’and his death shall bring judgment’’ ‘’ Methushelaḥ’’

‘’and he became impoverished’’ ‘’ Lamech’’

‘’to bring comfort to man’’ ‘’Noah’’

2Co 4:12  so that death indeed is working in us, but the life in you.

It is our death, our laying down our lives for others that will bring life to a lost mankind.

“The Elohim-Man is appointed, to sorrow! The Esteem of YHVH comes down from heaven lays down his life for others to bring comfort to those who mourn.”

This is the mirror of man – it is the mirror of Messiah.

Herein lies in my view the greatest challenge for believers:

YHVH is not a man and a man can never be YHVH. In other words, a man cannot be in covenant with two Deities.

Gen 5:7 And after he brought forth Enosh, Shĕth lived eight hundred and seven years, and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:8 So all the days of Shĕth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

Gen 5:9 And Enosh lived ninety years and brought forth Qĕynan.

Quote: “Qeynan” (S7018(not 7014) & S7064 & S7077) – possession – chamber or dwelling – to make a nest.

“Another possibility (and favored by us here at Abarim Publications) is that the name Kenan comes from the verb קין (qin), meaning to chant a dirge (Amos 8:10). This verb comes from the noun קינה (qina), meaning lamentation, or a sad poem which is sung (Jeremiah 7:19, Ezekiel 2:10). A strong clue that the name Kenan (with the troublesome double nun) indeed comes from this word group lies in the existence of a verb that HAW Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament gracefully skips but which is well featured in BDB Theological Dictionary. It's the verb קונן (qwnn), meaning to chant a dirge (Ezekiel 27:32, 1 Samuel 1:17) – see also S7015&6969’’

That way the name Kenan means Lamenter.

Something went wrong with man and could only be repaired if YHVH could enter man’s life and restore him again.

Gen 5:10 And after he brought forth Qĕynan, Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:11 So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.

Gen 5:12 And Qĕynan lived seventy years and brought forth Mahalal’ĕl.

Mahal-El(S4111) – Praise of El – Yahshua was our only hope of becoming reconciled to YHVH.

Gen 5:13 After he brought forth Mahalal’ĕl, Qĕynan lived eight hundred and forty years, and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:14 So all the days of Qĕynan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

Gen 5:15 And Mahalal’ĕl lived sixty-five years and brought forth Yereḏ.Yared/Yered (S3382) to go downward.

Gen 5:16 And after he brought forth Yereḏ, Mahalal’ĕl lived eight hundred and thirty years, and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:17 So all the days of Mahalal’ĕl were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.

Gen 5:18 And Yereḏ lived one hundred and sixty-two years and brought forth Ḥanoḵ.

“Chanok” S2585 – means dedicated.

Yahshua dedicated himself to deliver humanity from their frightful predicament.

Gen 5:19 And after he brought forth Ḥanoḵ, Yereḏ lived eight hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters.

Gen 5:20 So all the days of Yereḏ were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.

Gen 5:21 And Ḥanoḵ lived sixty-five years and brought forth Methushelaḥ.

Methushelach S4968 – “man of the dart” or literally “dying he shall send”

Meaning: “Man of the dart/weapon” or “when he dies, it shall be sent” (traditional interpretations).

“Methuselah (Hebrew: מְתוּשֶׁלַח / מְתוּשָׁלַח, Modern Metušélaħ / MetušálaħTiberian ûšéla / ûšāla ; "Man of the dart/spear", or alternatively "his death shall bring judgment") is the man reported to have lived the longest at the age of 969 in the Hebrew Bible. Extra-biblical tradition maintains that he died on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 1656AM (Anno Mundi, after Creation), seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood.”

Gen 5:22 And after he brought forth Methushelaḥ, Ḥanoḵ walked with Elohim three hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:23 So all the days of Ḥanoḵ were three hundred and sixty-five years.

Gen 5:24 And Ḥanoḵ walked with Elohim. Then he was no more, for Elohim took him.

Enoch means – the dedicated one.

Gen 5:25 And Methushelaḥ lived one hundred and eighty-seven years and brought forth Lemeḵ.

Lamech” S3929 – Morfix – to become impoverished.

Etymology and meaning of the name Lamech

To a creative audience, the name Lamech may also be seen as a construct of the particle ל (le), meaning to or towards: ‘’מוך’’ The verb מוך (muk) is used to denote impoverished Israelites and occurs twice: Leviticus 25:47 and 27:8.

Gen 5:26 And after he brought forth Lemeḵ, Methushelaḥ lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:27 So all the days of Methushelaḥ were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.

Gen 5:28 And Lemeḵ lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and brought forth a son,

Gen 5:29 and called his name Noaḥ, saying, “This one does comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which יהוה has cursed.”

Noach” S5146 – Rest or comfort.

Gen 5:30 And after he brought forth Noaḥ, Lemeḵ lived five hundred and ninety-five years, and brought forth sons and daughters. Gen 5:31 So all the days of Lemeḵ were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.

Gen 5:32 And Noaḥ was five hundred years old, and Noaḥ brought forth Shĕm, Ḥam, and Yepheth.

Gen 6:1 And it came to be, when men began to increase on the face of the earth, and daughters (Heb ‘’Nashim’’) were born to them, (Nashim can mean simply “women” in general, but in biblical usage it often means “wives,” i.e. women already in marriage covenant.)

Midrash (Genesis Rabbah 26:5) – explains that the “sons of God” took both married and unmarried women, even coercing them, violating all boundaries.

Gen 6:2 that the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men, that they were good. And they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. Gen 6:3 And יהוה said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever in his going astray. He is flesh, and his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” Gen 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, (Num 13:33) when the sons of Elohim came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, the men of name. Gen 6:5 And יהוה saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Gen 6:6 And יהוה was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. Gen 6:7 And יהוה said, “I am going to wipe off man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping creature and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” Gen 6:8 But Noaḥ found favour in the eyes of יהוה.

From the fall of man in the garden until this present moment – man is faced with a ‘’covenantal crisis’’ ‘’Are you in a covenantal bond with the YHVH of Israel or are you in a covenantal bond with the spirit and religion of this age? Most of us we struggle with a loyalty mixture between these two covenants.

Only the real Messiah can show us the way back.

2Co 11:2  For I am jealous for you with a jealousy according to Elohim. For I gave you in marriage to one husband, (most Christians have two ‘’husbands’’) to present you as an innocent maiden to Messiah.

2Co 11:3 But I am afraid, lest, as the serpent deceived awwah by his trickery, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Messiah.

2Co 11:4 For, indeed, if he who is coming proclaims another יהושע, a whom we have not proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different Good News which you have not accepted, you put up with it well enough! Footnote: a Mat_24:5 and Mat_24:23-24, Jhn_5:43

“To whom then will you liken Me, that I should be equal?” (Isaiah 40:25).

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

Isa 30:8 And go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it on a scroll, that it is for a latter day, a witness forever:

Isa 30:9 that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who refuse to hear the Torah of יהוה,

Isa 30:10 who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right. Speak to us what is smooth, prophesy deceits. Isa 30:11 “Turn aside from the way, swerve from the path, cause the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl to cease from before us.” Isa 30:12 Therefore thus said the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl, “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on them, Isa 30:13 therefore this crookedness is to you like a breach ready to fall, a bulge in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly, swiftly.” Isa 30:14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel, which is broken in pieces, without sparing, so that there is not found among its fragments a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water from the cistern. (Jer 2:13) Isa 30:15  For thus said the Master יהוה (Adonai YHVH), the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl, “In returning and rest you are saved, in stillness and trust is your strength.” But you would not,

Pesikta Rabbati 36: The Messiah existed before creation, hidden with God, to heal the wound of Adam’s sin.

In rabbinic culture, the greater the righteous person, the more deeply aware they became of sin.

Paul calls himself “the foremost (chief) of sinners” in 1 Timothy 1:15:

This is written near the end of his ministry (traditionally during his last imprisonment in Rome). Why would someone who also says “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim 4:7) call himself the chief of sinners?

Paul is speaking in this rabbinic tradition. The closer you are to YHVH’s light, (Messiah) the more clearly you see your own darkness.
