Parashat 10 Portion 41 Beresheet 43:24-44:17 Haftarah: Yer/Jer 42:7-17 Matt 6:19-24

Blessing for the Torah:
Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-O’lam, asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim,
v’natan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim , King of the Universe,
you have selected us from among all the peoples,
and have given us your Torah. Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

This Torah portion once again brings us face to face with the most serious issue of our times - the restoration of all things.

Act 3:19  “Repent therefore and turn back, for the blotting out of your sins, in order that times of refreshing might come from the presence of the Master,
Act 3:20  and that He sends יהושע Messiah, pre-appointed for you,
Act 3:21  whom heaven needs to receive until the times of restoration of all matters, of which Elohim spoke through the mouth of all His set-apart prophets since of old.
Act 3:22  “For Mosheh truly said to the fathers, ‘יהוה your Elohim shall raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear according to all matters, whatever He says to you.
Act 3:23  ‘And it shall be that every being who does not hear that Prophet1 shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ Footnote: 1Deut. 18:18-20. Act 3:24  “And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Shemu’ĕl and those following, have also announced these days.
Act 3:25  “You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which Elohim made with our fathers, saying to Aḇraham, ‘And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.’
Act 3:26  “To you first, Elohim, having raised up His Servant יהושע, sent Him to bless you, in turning away each one of you from your wicked ways.”1 Footnote: 1See 2:38.

What are the matters concerning us?

The Ruach of YHVH is preparing the long separated brothers of Yisrael to come together again. Almost all those who call themselves believers and seekers after the truth are ignorant or unaware of His agenda and continue to replace His agenda with their own.
It will serve us well to know that every word of the Torah speaks to us the words that Messiah would speak to us. Messiah would want to remind us that he is busy doing whatever it takes for his reconciliation between himself and his brothers – the tribes of Yisrael.
Yahshua is not waiting to reconcile himself with the church (where there is the mixture) – He will only join himself to that which is set apart and called by his Father – Restored Yisrael.

The anti messiah is waiting to reconcile himself with the church and every other major religion of the world that is willing to enter into an immoral anti Torah covenant with him.
The restoration of all things or the “tikkun olam” is the one issue that will identify the true seekers after the truth – this is the very heart of Hebraic thinking and restoration. This concept of “Tikkun olam” runs deep within Jewish thinking – the following quote is taken from Wikepedia – italics my own – also put the Restored Names in.

“Tikkun olam (תיקון עולם ‎) is a Hebrew phrase that means "repairing the world" (or "healing the world") which suggests humanity's shared responsibility to heal, repair and transform the world.
The phrase tikkun olam is included in the Aleinu , a Jewish prayer that is traditionally recited three times daily. The Aleinu, said to have been written by the prophet Joshua, praises YHVH for allowing the Jewish people to serve YHVH, and expresses hope that the whole world one day will recognize YHVH and abandon idolatry. The phrase tikkun olam is used in the longer expression l'takken olam b'malkhut Shaddai, "to perfect the world under YHVH's sovereignty." In other words, when all the people of the world abandon false gods and recognize YHVH the world will have been perfected. Alternatively, being that we share a partnership with YHVH, humanity is instructed to take the steps towards improving the state of the world and helping others, which simultaneously brings more honor to YHVH's sovereignty.
The word tikkun is grammatically in the gerund (meaning "repair" or "perfection"), and olam means "world"; the two words together (tikkun olam) are in the construct (i.e. genitive), and mean "repair of [the] world". By contrast, the word l'takken (meaning "to repair") is in the infinitive, and so l'takken olam in the Aleinu prayer means "to repair [the] world."

Jews believe that performing of ritual mitzvot (commandments, connections, or religious obligations) is a means of tikkun olam, helping to perfect the world, and that the performance of more mitzvot will hasten the coming of the Messiah and the Messianic Age. This belief dates back at least to the early Talmudic period. According to Rabbi Yochanan, quoting Rabbi Shim'on bar Yochai, the Jewish people will be redeemed when every Jew observes Shabbat (the Sabbath) twice in all its details.

Some explain the power of Shabbat by its effect on the other six days of the week and their role in moving society towards the Messianic Age. Shabbat helps bring about the Messianic Age because Shabbat- rest energizes Jews to work harder to bring the Messianic Age nearer during the six working days of the week. Because the experience of Shabbat gives one a foretaste of the Messianic Age, observance of Shabbat also helps Jews renew their commitment to bring about a world where love and mercy will reign and so bring about tikkun olam. (Shabbat also helps us reflect on what the Ruach of YHVH wants to do in us and through us and what He has already accomplished in us through Yahshua Moshiach to bring about the restoration of all things.)

Some Jews believe that performing mitzvot will create a model society among the Jewish people, which will in turn influence the rest of the world. This idea sometimes is attributed to Biblical verses that describe the Jews as "a kingdom of priests and a set apart nation" (Exodus 19:5-6) and "a light of the nations" or "a light to the nations" (Isaiah 42:6 and Isaiah 49:6)”

Gen 43:24  And the man brought the men into Yosĕph’s house and gave them water, and they washed their feet. And he gave their donkeys fodder.
Gen 43:25  And they made the present ready for Yosĕph’s coming at noon, for they heard that they were to eat there.
Gen 43:26  And when Yosĕph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand, into the house, and bowed down before him to the earth.
Gen 43:27  And he asked them about their welfare, and said, “Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?”
Gen 43:28  And they said, “Your servant our father is in good health, he is still alive.” And they bowed their heads down and did obeisance.
Gen 43:29  And he lifted his eyes and saw his brother Binyamin, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your younger brother of whom you spoke to me?” And he said, “Elohim show favour to you, my son.”
Gen 43:30  And Yosĕph hurried, for his emotions were deeply moved towards his brother, and he looked for a place to weep, and went into his room and wept there.
Gen 43:31  Then he washed his face and came out, and controlled himself, and said, “Serve the food.”
Gen 43:32  And they set him a place by himself, and them by themselves, and the Mitsrites who ate with him by themselves, for the Mitsrites could not eat food with the Heḇrews, for that is an abomination to the Mitsrites.
Gen 43:33  And they sat before him, the first-born according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth, and the men looked at each other in astonishment.
Gen 43:34  And he took portions to them from before him, but Binyamin’s portion was five times as much as any of theirs. And they feasted and they drank with him.
Gen 44:1  And he commanded the one over his house, saying, “Fill the men’s sacks with food, as they are able to bear, and put each man’s silver in the mouth of his sack.
Gen 44:2  “And put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and the silver for his grain.” And he did according to the word of Yosĕph which he spoke.
Gen 44:3  As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.
Gen 44:4  And when they had gone out of the city, not having gone far, Yosĕph said to the one over his house, “Rise up, follow the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid evil for good?
Gen 44:5  ‘Is this not the one from which my master drinks, and with which he indeed divines? You have done evil in what you have done.’ ”
Gen 44:6  So he overtook them and spoke these words to them.
Gen 44:7  And they said to him, “Why does my master say these words? Far be it from us that your servants should do according to this word.
Gen 44:8  “See, we brought back to you from the land of Kenaʽan the silver which we found in the mouth of our sacks. How then should we steal silver or gold from your master’s house?
Gen 44:9  “With whomever of your servants it is found – he shall die and we shall become my master’s slaves as well.”
Gen 44:10  And he said, “Now also let it be according to your words: he with whom it is found becomes my slave, and you are innocent.”
Gen 44:11  And they hurried, each man let down his sack to the ground, and each opened his sack.
Gen 44:12  And he searched, with the oldest first and with the youngest last, and the cup was found in Binyamin’s sack.
Gen 44:13  And they tore their garments, and each man loaded his donkey and went back to the city.
Gen 44:14  And Yehuḏah and his brothers came to Yosĕph’s house, and he was still there. And they fell before him on the ground.
Gen 44:15  And Yosĕph said to them, “What deed is this you have done? Did you not know that a man like me indeed divines?”
Gen 44:16  And Yehuḏah said, “What do we say to my master? What do we speak? Or how do we clear ourselves? Elohim has found out the crookedness of your servants. See, we are my master’s slaves, both we and he also with whom the cup was found.”
Gen 44:17  But he said, “Far be it from me to do this. The man in whose hand the cup was found, he becomes my slave. And you, go up in peace to your father.”

Note the concern Yosef has for his father is closely followed by his special love for his brother. The book of Yasher tells us that Yosef was revealed to Benyamin before he was revealed to his other brothers.

Parashat 10 Portion 40 Beresheet/Genesis 42:18-43:23 Haftarah-Yesh 50:10-52:11 Rev21:9-27.

Ameyn.)

We read in the book of Yasher that when Yosef’s brothers first came to Egypt(Mitzrayim) to seek food they first looked for their long lost brother. The brothers sought Yosef in the brothrels of Mitzrayim because he was a good looking lad and they reasoned that Yosef would have been sold to one these brothel owners.

Chapter 51
6 And whilst the sons of Jacob were going on the road, they repented of what they had done to Joseph, and they spoke to each other, saying, We know that our brother Joseph went down to Egypt, and now we will seek him where we go, and if we find him we will take him from his master for a ransom, and if not, by force, and we will die for him.
12 And when the sons of Jacob came into the city, they joined together in the city to seek Joseph before they bought themselves corn.
13 And they went to the walls of the harlots, and they sought Joseph in the walls of the harlots for three days, for they thought that Joseph would come in the walls of the harlots, for Joseph was very comely and well favored, and the sons of Jacob sought Joseph for three days, and they could not find him. End quote.

For “three days” (over 2000 years) “his brothers still seek for him in the whore houses of religion”
Gen 42:18  Now Yosĕph said to them the third day, “Do this and live, for I fear Elohim:
Gen 42:19  “If you are trustworthy, let one of your brothers be confined to your prison house, and you, go, bring grain for the scarcity of food of your houses.
Gen 42:20  “And bring your youngest brother to me, and let your words be confirmed, and you do not die.” And so they did.

Vs 19 speaks of “your prison house” (Strongs 4929 Mishmarchem) meaning “your prison.”

Once again the Torah gives us allegorical insights as to the self imposed prison we find ourselves in when we are not walking in the revelation of our Redeemer Messiah.

The Torah wants to show us that it was the guilt of the brothers that put them in their own self imposed slavery.
We too in this day are in a kind of prison because we do not recognize our older brother Yahshua as the deliverer and redeemer of all of Yisrael. Today many who believe in him do not acknowledge and recognize that he has come for the lost sheep of the house of  Yisrael. It may be that we too will have to go through many tribulations before we recognize him for who he truly is. Today the church still ascribes to him a kind of Egyptian status. Yosef was much more than an Egyptian king – he was The Hebrew sent by YHVH to redeem first of all his very own brothers from bondage. No one is excluded as long as they desire and yield to be grafted into the Tree of Yisrael – The Tree of Life – The Torah of YHVH.

Gen 42:21  And they said to each other, “Truly, we are guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the distress of his life when he pleaded with us, yet we did not listen, that is why this distress has come upon us.”

It still distresses our Hebrew Messiah that we do not recognize him as the Torah Teacher sent by his Father to bring us back to the ancient ways of our forefathers – Avraham, Yitzchak and Yakov.

The Torah seems to be showing us here that we will not come to see Messiah as he is meant to be seen until we have gone through severe trials and tribulations.

If Yahshua learned obedience through the things which he suffered (Heb 5:8) why will we who claim to be his followers not also experience the same?

If Yahshua came in the fullness of the Torah, he must be proclaimed in the fullness of the Torah.

Psa 40:7  Then I said, “See, I have come; In the scroll of the Book it is prescribed for me.
Psa 40:8  I have delighted to do Your pleasure, O my Elohim, And Your Torah is within my heart1.” Footnote: 1Ps. 37:31, Ps. 119:11, Isa. 51:7, Heb. 10:7-9.

Today we are blessed with the writings of Shaul (Paul) whose revelations of Messiah as having coming in the “fullness of the scroll” have been unsurpassed until now. Many today misunderstand Shaul like they did when he originally wrote his epistles.

2Pe 3:16  as also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these matters, in which some are hard to understand,1 which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the other Scriptures. Footnote: 1See 2 Cor. 11:3-5.

Paul understood and paid the price with his very life that the revelation of Messiah could not only be taught; it had to be seen in the life of every rabbi and disciple who wanted to make the Messiah known to others.

How many teachers of Messiah today proclaim a Messiah who obeyed the Torah perfectly and taught others to do the same?
Not because he was a legalist but because he knew that this was the one true irrefutable evidence that he loved his Father.

1Jn 5:1  Everyone who believes that יהושע is the Messiah has been born of Elohim, and everyone who loves the One bringing forth also loves the one having been born of Him.
1Jn 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we love Elohim and guard His commands.
1Jn 5:3  For this is the love for Elohim, that we guard His commands,1 and His commands are not heavy, Footnote: 1See 5:2, 2 John v. 6, John 14:15.

2Jn 1:6  And this is the love, that we walk according to His commands.1 This is the command, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. Footnote: 1See 1 John 5:3, and John 14:15.
2Jn 1:7  Because many who are leading astray went out into the world who do not confess יהושע Messiah as coming in the flesh. This one is he who is leading astray and the anti-messiah.
2Jn 1:8  See to yourselves, that we do not lose what we worked for, but that we might receive a complete reward.
2Jn 1:9  Everyone who is transgressing and not staying in the teaching of Messiah does not possess Elohim.1 The one who stays in the teaching of Messiah possesses both the Father and the Son.2 Footnotes: 11 Tim. 6:3. 2See 1 John 1:3, 1 John 2:22, 1 John 5:20.
2Jn 1:10  If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house nor greet him,
2Jn 1:11  for he who greets him shares in his wicked works.

Today many who claim to believe in Messiah have recreated him according to their own imagination and understanding. This is idolatry. An idol is a lie. We have all been taught to believe lies about the Messiah – both Jew and gentile – in fact this is why the prophet says we have inherited folly from our fathers.

Jer 16:19  O יהוה, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge, in the day of distress the gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Our fathers have inherited only falsehood, futility, and there is no value in them.”1 Footnote: 1See Ps. 147:19, Isa. 2:3, Isa. 60:2-3, John 4:22, Rom. 2:20, Rom. 3:2, Rom. 9:4.

Let us look a little deeper into Pauline revelation of Messiah:

Gal 4:4  But when the completion of the time came, Elohim sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under Torah,
Gal 4:5  to redeem those who were under Torah, in order to receive the adoption as sons.

There are some in the church who would call the Torah a curse. How is it possible that Yahshua came into the world under a curse?

The Torah is only a curse to those who wilfully and continually disobey it. Yahshua has come to redeem us from our inborn rebellion against the Torah of YHVH. (Deut 28)

Gal 4:4  ובמלאת הימים שלח האלהים את־בנו ילוד אשה ונתון תחת יד־התורה׃
Gal 4:5  לפדות את אשר היו תחת יד־התורה למען נקבל משפט הבנים׃

Col 1:26  the secret which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His set-apart ones,
Col 1:27  to whom Elohim desired to make known what are the riches of the esteem of this secret among the gentiles: which is Messiah in you,1 the expectancy of esteem,

Col 2:1  For I wish you to know what a great struggle I have for you and those in Laodikeia, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
Col 2:2  in order that their hearts might be encouraged, being knit together in love, and to all riches of the entire confirmation of understanding, to a true knowledge of the secret of Elohim, and of the Father, and of the Messiah,
Col 2:3  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.1 Footnote: 1Isa. 11:2, Col. 2:9.
Col 2:4  And this I say, so that no one deceives you with enticing words.

1Ti 3:16  And, beyond all question, the secret of reverence(adoration) is great – who(God appears in modern translations and not found in the original) was revealed in the flesh, declared right in Spirit, was seen by messengers, was proclaimed among nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in esteem.

mustērion moos-tay'-ree-on From a derivative of μύω muō (to shut the mouth); a secret or “mystery”

1Ti 3:16  ובודי גדול סוד החסידות אשר נגלה בבשר נצדק ברוח נראה למלאכים הגד בגוים נתקבל באמונה בעולם נעלה בכבוד׃

Nitzdak in Hebrew = to be proved right.
Hugad in Hebrew = proclaimed in the right order (haggadah)
Nitkabel in Hebrew = revelation that is given and can only be received with the help of YHVH.
Kavod in Hebrew is majesty, splendour or honour.

Gen 42:22  And Re’uḇĕn answered them, saying, “Did I not speak to you, saying, ‘Do not sin against the boy,’ and you would not listen? And see, his blood is now required of us.”
Gen 42:23  And they did not know that Yosĕph understood them, for he spoke to them through an interpreter.
Gen 42:24  And he turned himself away from them and wept, but came back to them and spoke to them. And he took Shimʽon from them and bound him before their eyes.
Gen 42:25  And Yosĕph commanded and they filled their sacks with grain, also to put back every man’s silver to his sack, and to give them food for the journey. And thus it was done for them.
Gen 42:26  So they loaded their donkeys with the grain and went from there.
Gen 42:27  And as one of them opened his sack to give his donkey fodder at the lodging place, he saw his silver, for there it was in the mouth of his sack!
Gen 42:28  And he said to his brothers, “My silver has been returned, and there it is, in my sack!” And their hearts sank and they were afraid, saying to each other, “What is this that Elohim has done to us?”
Gen 42:29  So they came to Yaʽaqoḇ their father in the land of Kenaʽan and reported to him all that befell them, saying,
Gen 42:30  “The man, the master of the land, spoke to us harshly, and took us for spies of the land.
Gen 42:31  “But we said to him, ‘We are trustworthy, we are not spies.
Gen 42:32  ‘We are twelve brothers, sons of our father. One is no more, and the youngest is today with our father in the land of Kenaʽan.’
Gen 42:33  “And the man, the master of the land, said to us, ‘By this I know that you are trustworthy: Leave one of your brothers here with me, and take food for the scarcity of food of your households, and go.
Gen 42:34  ‘And bring your youngest brother to me, then I know that you are not spies, but that you are trustworthy – I give your brother to you, and you move about in the land.’ ”
Gen 42:35  And it came to be as they emptied their sacks, that look, the bundle of each man’s silver was in his sack! And when they and their father saw the bundles of silver, they were afraid.
Gen 42:36  And Yaʽaqoḇ their father said to them, “You have bereaved me – Yosĕph is no more, and Shimʽon is no more, and you would take Binyamin! All this is against me.”
Gen 42:37  So Re’uḇĕn spoke to his father, saying, “Take the lives of my two sons if I do not bring him back to you. Put him in my hands, and I myself bring him back to you.”
Gen 42:38  But he said, “My son is not going down with you, for his brother is dead, and he is left alone. If any harm should come to him along the way in which you go, then you would bring down my grey hair with sorrow to the grave.”

Gen 43:1  But the scarcity of food was severe in the land.
Gen 43:2  And it came to be, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought from Mitsrayim, that their father said to them, “Go back, buy us a little food.”
Gen 43:3  But Yehuḏah spoke to him, saying, “The man vehemently warned us, saying, ‘You do not see my face unless your brother is with you.’ ”
Gen 43:4  “If you let our brother go with us, we go down and buy you food.
Gen 43:5  “But if you do not let him go, we do not go down, because the man said to us, ‘You do not see my face unless your brother is with you.’ ”
Gen 43:6  And Yisra’ĕl said, “Why did you do evil to me to inform the man that you still had another brother?”
Gen 43:7  And they said, “The man kept asking about us and our relatives, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ And we informed him according to these words. How could we know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?”
Gen 43:8  And Yehuḏah said to Yisra’ĕl his father, “Send the boy with me, and let us arise and go, and live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones.
Gen 43:9  “I myself shall stand guaranty for him – from my hand you are to require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever.
Gen 43:10  “For if we had not delayed, truly by now we could have returned this second time.”
Gen 43:11  And their father Yisra’ĕl said to them, “If so, then do this: Take some of the best fruit of the land in your vessels and bring a present down for the man, a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts and almonds.
Gen 43:12  “And take double silver in your hand, and take back in your hand the silver that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. It could have been a mistake.
Gen 43:13  “And take your brother, and arise, go back to the man.
Gen 43:14  “And Ěl Shaddai give to you compassion before the man, so that he shall release your other brother and Binyamin. And I, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved!”
Gen 43:15  And the men took that present and Binyamin, and they took double the amount of silver in their hand, and arose and went down to Mitsrayim, and stood before Yosĕph.
Gen 43:16  And Yosĕph saw Binyamin with them, and said to the one over his house, “Bring the men home, and make a great slaughter, and prepare, for these men are to eat with me at noon.”
Gen 43:17  And the man did as Yosĕph said, and the man brought the men into Yosĕph’s house.
Gen 43:18  And the men were afraid because they were brought into Yosĕph’s house. And they said, “It is because of the silver, which was put back into our sacks the first time, that we are brought in, to throw himself upon us and fall upon us, to take us as slaves, our donkeys too.”
Gen 43:19  So they came near to the man over the house of Yosĕph, and spoke to him at the door of the house,
Gen 43:20  and said, “O my master, we indeed came down the first time to buy food,
Gen 43:21  but it came to be, when we came to the lodging place, that we opened our sacks and saw each man’s silver in the mouth of his sack, our silver in its weight. And we have brought it back in our hand.
Gen 43:22  “And we have brought down other silver in our hands to buy food. We do not know who put our silver in our sacks.”
Gen 43:23  But he said, “Peace be with you, do not be afraid. Your Elohim and the Elohim of your father has given you treasure in your sacks – your silver had come to me!” And he brought Shimʽon out to them.

Who will labour amongst the nations until Yahshua be formed in them.
Gal 4:19  My little children, for whom I am again in birth pains until Messiah is formed in you,

Perhaps there is an emerging remnant amongst the gentiles who are beginning to receive and walk in a fuller revelation of Messiah – AND ARE TRULY WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE TO MAKE HIM KNOWN.

Rom 11:5  So therefore also, at this present time a remnant according to the choice of favour has come to be.
Rom 11:6  And if by favour, it is no longer of works, otherwise favour is no longer favour. And if it is of works, it is no longer favour, otherwise work is no longer work.
Rom 11:7  What then? Yisra’ĕl has not obtained what it seeks, but the chosen did obtain it, and the rest were hardened.
Rom 11:8  As it has been written, “יהוה has given them a spirit of deep sleep, eyes not to see and ears not to hear, unto this day.”

Even Christians have walked in a state of blindness regarding the Messiah. It has only been recently that many who have been saved by the blood of Messiah are now beginning to search for the true identity of the Messiah as found in our Hebraic roots.

Parashat 10 Portion 39 – Beresheet 41:38- 42:17 Haftarah: Yesh 11:2-9- Luke 9:46-48

Ameyn.)

Gen 41:38  And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Could we find another like him, a man in whom is the Spirit of Elohim?”
Gen 41:39  Then Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “Since Elohim has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.
Gen 41:40  “Be over my house, you yourself, and at your mouth all my people shall kiss – only in the throne I am greater than you.”

Pharoah handed over the responsibility to Yosef for caring and communicating with the people and meeting their needs.

Gen 41:41  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Mitsrayim.”
Gen 41:42  And Pharaoh took his seal-ring off his hand and put it on Yosĕph’s hand. And he dressed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.
Gen 41:43  And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had. And they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” And he set him over all the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:44  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “I am Pharaoh, and without a word from you let no man lift his hand or foot in all the land of Mitsrayim.”
Gen 41:45  And Pharaoh called Yosĕph’s name Zaphnath-Paʽnĕaḥ. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. And Yosĕph went out over all the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:46  Now Yosĕph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim. And Yosĕph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:47  And in the seven years of plenty the ground brought forth generously.
Gen 41:48  And he gathered all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Mitsrayim, and laid up the food in the cities. He laid up in every city the food of the fields which surrounded them.
Gen 41:49  Thus Yosĕph gathered very much grain, as the sand of the sea, until he ceased counting, for it was without number.
Gen 41:50  And to Yosĕph were born two sons before the years of scarcity of food came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On, bore to him.
Gen 41:51  And Yosĕph called the name of the first-born Menashsheh, “For Elohim has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.”
Gen 41:52  And the name of the second he called Ephrayim, “For Elohim has caused me to bear fruit in the land of my affliction.”
Gen 41:53  And the seven years of plenty which were in the land of Mitsrayim came to an end,
Gen 41:54  and the seven years of scarcity of food began to come, as Yosĕph had said. And the scarcity of food was in all lands, but in all the land of Mitsrayim there was bread.
Gen 41:55  But when all the land of Mitsrayim hungered, and the people cried to Pharaoh for bread, Pharaoh said to all the Mitsrites, “Go to Yosĕph, do whatever he says to you.”
Gen 41:56  And the scarcity of food was over all the face of the earth, and Yosĕph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Mitsrites. And the scarcity of food was severe in the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:57  And all the earth came to Yosĕph in Mitsrayim to buy grain, because the scarcity of food was severe in all the earth.
Gen 42:1  And when Yaʽaqoḇ saw that there was grain in Mitsrayim, Yaʽaqoḇ said to his sons, “Why do you look at each other?”
Gen 42:2  And he said, “See, I have heard that there is grain in Mitsrayim. Go down to that place and buy for us there, and let us live and not die.”
Gen 42:3  And Yosĕph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain in Mitsrayim.
Gen 42:4  But Yaʽaqoḇ did not send Yosĕph’s brother Binyamin with his brothers, for he said, “Lest some harm come to him.”
Gen 42:5  And the sons of Yisra’ĕl went to buy grain among those who journeyed, for the scarcity of food was in the land of Kenaʽan.
Gen 42:6  And Yosĕph was the governor over the land, he was the one who sold to all the people of the land. And Yosĕph’s brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces to the earth.
Gen 42:7  And Yosĕph saw his brothers and recognised them, but he acted as a stranger to them and spoke to them harshly, and said to them, “Where do you come from?” And they said, “From the land of Kenaʽan to buy food.”
Gen 42:8  So Yosĕph recognised his brothers, but they did not recognise him.
Gen 42:9  And Yosĕph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed about them, and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land!”
Gen 42:10  And they said to him, “No, my master, but your servants have come to buy food.
Gen 42:11  “We are all one man’s sons, we are trustworthy, your servants are not spies.”
Gen 42:12  But he said to them, “No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land.”
Gen 42:13  And they said, “Your servants are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Kenaʽan. And see, the youngest is with our father today, and one is no more.”
Gen 42:14  And Yosĕph said to them, “It is as I spoke to you, saying, ‘You are spies!’
Gen 42:15  “By this you shall be proven: By the life of Pharaoh, you do not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.
Gen 42:16  “Send one of you, and let him bring your brother, while you are kept in prison. So let your words be proven to see whether there is any truth in you, or else, by the life of Pharaoh, you are spies!”
Gen 42:17  And he put them all together in prison for three days.

Prophetically it seems that family of Yisrael have been in prison for three days (three thousand years) in Hebraic thinking the third day can mean two nights and two days and third day does not have to be fully completed.
We are living in the third day after the Messiah ascended and went to sit at the right hand of the Father. Living without the Messiah is like living in prison.

This Torah portion reveals two of the most powerful signs that will be evident before Messiah’s return:
  1. Unprecedented favour and blessing on those preparing to meet him.
  2. Our enemies and those who vehemently opposed us coming to bow before our feet.
Rev 3:7  “And to the messenger of the assembly in Philadelphia write, ‘He who is set-apart, He who is true, He who has the key of Dawiḏ, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens, says this:
Rev 3:8  “I know your works – see, I have set before you an open door, and no one is able to shut it – that you have little power, yet have guarded My Word, and have not denied My Name.
Rev 3:9  “See, I am giving up those of the congregation of Satan, who say they are Yehuḏim and are not, but lie. See, I am making them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
Rev 3:10  “Because you have guarded My Word of endurance, I also shall guard you from the hour of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try those who dwell on the earth.
Rev 3:11  “See, I am coming speedily! Hold what you have that no one take your crown.
Rev 3:12  “He who overcomes, I shall make him a supporting post in the Dwelling Place of My Elohim, and he shall by no means go out. And I shall write on him the Name of My Elohim and the name of the city of My Elohim, the renewed Yerushalayim, which comes down out of the heaven from My Elohim, and My renewed Name.

This Torah portion poses perhaps the greatest challenge to our lives than any other Torah portion:
To be so aligned with YHVH and His purposes and His Messiah in such a way that will bring us to this place of unprecedented blessing and favour.
Yosef was obviously in such a place. What was the key to his secret?
I believe the key has to do with AUTHORITY.

Authority and Order are the foundation of the throne of YHVH and His Kingdom.
Mat 22:29  And יהושע answering, said to them, “You go astray, not knowing the Scriptures1 nor the power of Elohim. Footnote: 1Mk. 12:24.

The scripture speaks of His authority and His power is revealed in causing His Word (Scripture) to come to pass.

They did not and we still do not know the authority and order of YHVH.
Yosef understood authority and order:

  1. If he had taken Potiphars wife, he would have been out of order. He waited until he was given a wife. (Yahsua is waiting for his Father to give him his bride)
  2. Yosef willingly and obediently submitted to authority and was soon elevated and promoted wherever he found himself. YHVH could not commit all the authority of Egypt into Yosef’s hands if He could not trust Yosef with such authority.
  3. Because Yosef was granted all authority he could establish order when there was a national crisis. He was the second most powerful man in the world who was able to provide food for a dying world.
  4. Yosef was willing to pay the price, this included having to come to terms with his own desperate situation and apparent powerlessness to do anything about it. He knew only YHVH could deliver him from the darkness and despair he found himself in for such a long time. (the darkest moment of Yahshua’s life is when he cried out to the Father – “why have you forsaken me”)
  5. Yosef was given favour by YHVH to come to terms with the unrighteous authority that brought such harm and destruction upon his life. (while they were executing the Master he prayed for their forgiveness)
  6. Yosef knew that the greatest challenge he faced as the second strongest man in the world was to gently and wisely restore his lost brothers to favour and wholeness. Family was the most important thing in Yosef’s life. He made sure they were well cared for in their greatest hour of need.
  7. The greatest concern Yosef had was for his father – Yakov. (because Christianity has rejected the Torah they have not honoured the Father with their Trinitarian doctrines)
How does this Torah portion translate into our present day situation honouring Moshiach as he should be honoured?  (Rom 10:4)

This Torah portion presents us with an image of one of the greatest moments in history. The revelation and recognition of Messiah by his estranged brothers.

We recognize at this present moment we do not see Messiah as he is truly meant to be seen. He is not just a powerful ruling king – he is the redeemer of Yisrael. He is not the corner stone of the “church” he is the corner stone of Mount Tzion.

Isa 28:15  because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with the grave we have effected a vision. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it does not come to us, for we have made lying our refuge, and under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.”
Isa 28:16  Therefore thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I am laying in Tsiyon a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner-stone, a settled foundation. He who trusts shall not hasten away.
Isa 28:17  And I shall make right-ruling the measuring line, and righteousness the plummet. And the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lying, and the waters overflow the hiding place.
Isa 28:18  And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your vision with the grave not stand. When an overflowing scourge passes through, then you shall be trampled down by it.

Both Jew and gentile have made a covenant with death by not recognizing and coming to the real Messiah – the only one who can deliver us from the death of this world produced by the famine of the Word of YHVH. The world and especially believers have created an image of Messiah that is not according to scripture – Torah.
The Messiah is presented here as the redeemer of Yisrael – this was his purpose on earth.

Mat 15:22  And see, a woman of Kenaʽan came from those borders and cried out to Him, saying, “Have compassion on me, O Master, Son of Dawiḏ! My daughter is badly demon-possessed.”
Mat 15:23  But He did not answer her a word. And His taught ones came and asked Him, saying, “Send her away, because she cries after us.”
Mat 15:24  And He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’ĕl.”
Mat 15:25  But she came and was bowing to Him, saying, “Master, help me!”
Mat 15:26  And He answering, said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
Mat 15:27  But she said, “Yea Master, for even the little dogs1 eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Footnote:1See Rev. 22:15.

Mat 15:28  And יהושע answering, said to her, “O woman, your belief is great! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.  (Luke 7:1-10)

And so today the same truth applies – wherever there is a true manifestation of that which is genuinely Messianic – there is a drawing closer of the brothers of Messiah and there is healing and provision and all manner of blessings.
Today we as believers recognize that in one sense the work  of Messiah was completed when he breathed his last on the execution stake – yet in another sense the recognition and acceptance by faith of who is, has not yet been fully realized by the world and until we see and receive him for who he truly is, our lives will not be complete – there will be no true shalom in the world.
How then do we recognize and draw closer to Yashua – the key to all blessing?

The following scripture clearly teaches us that becoming one with Yahshua is the work of the Ruach of YHVH.

Joh 6:37  “All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I shall by no means cast out.

Joh 6:44  “No one is able to come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. And I shall raise him up in the last day.
Joh 6:45  “It has been written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by יהוה.’ Everyone, then, who has heard from the Father, and learned, comes to Me.
Joh 6:46  “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from Elohim – He has seen the Father.
Joh 6:47  “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me possesses everlasting life.
Joh 6:48  “I am the bread of life.
Joh 6:49  “Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.
Joh 6:50  “This is the bread which comes down out of the heaven, so that anyone might eat of it, and not die.
Joh 6:51  “I am the living bread which came down out of the heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever. And indeed, the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

Joh 6:65  And He said, “Because of this I have said to you that no one is able to come to Me unless it has been given to him by My Father.”
Joh 6:66  From then on many of His taught ones withdrew and were not walking with Him any more.

Yahshua is not hiding away, he wants to be found by us to become one with us – because we have been instructed incorrectly we often find difficulty in recognizing him when he calls and seeks for us.

“Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, Yahweh giver of the Torah – Ameyn
