Parashat 10 – ‘’Miketz’’ Portion 38 Ber/Gen 41:1-37 Yesh 29:1-16 Rev 7:1-17

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed!
Baruch ata YHVHEloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

Pro 28:9  He who turns away his ear from hearing the Torah, Even his prayer is an abomination.
[a]Footnote: See also Job_15:29, Isa_59:1-2, Joh_9:31, 1Jn_3:22.

G
Gen 41:1  And it came to be, at the end of two years’ time, that Pharaoh had a dream, and saw him standing by the river,

Miketz or “at the end…” Strongs 7093 can also mean “at the end of time.” BDB.
Perhaps this Torah portion give us a hint – Remez – that we are the generation living “two thousand years after Messiah’s first coming that will usher in his second coming'' – “it came to be after the end of two years” This is also where this Torah portion gets its name

Gen 41:2  and saw seven cows coming up out of the river, fine looking and fat, and they fed amongst the reeds,
Gen 41:3  then saw seven other cows coming up after them out of the river, ugly and lean of flesh, and stood by the other cows on the bank of the river.
Gen 41:4  And the ugly and lean of flesh cows ate up the seven fine looking and fat cows. Then Pharaoh awoke.
Gen 41:5  And he slept and dreamed a second time and saw seven heads of grain coming up on one stalk, plump and good,
Gen 41:6  and saw seven lean heads, scorched by the east wind, coming up after them.
Gen 41:7  And the seven lean heads swallowed the seven plump and complete heads. Then Pharaoh awoke and saw it was a dream.
Gen 41:8  And it came to be in the morning that his spirit was moved, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Mitsrayim and all its wise men. And Pharaoh related to them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.
Gen 41:9  Then the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, “I remember my crimes this day.
Gen 41:10  “When Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, both me and the chief baker,
Gen 41:11  each one of us dreamed a dream in one night, he and I. Each of us dreamed according to the interpretation of his own dream.
Gen 41:12  “And there was with us a Heḇrew youth, a servant of the captain of the guard. And we related to him, and he interpreted our dreams for us. To each man he interpreted according to his own dream.
Gen 41:13  “And it came to be, as he interpreted for us, so it came to be. He restored me to my office, and he hanged him.”
Gen 41:14  Then Pharaoh sent and called Yosĕph, and they hurriedly brought him out of the dungeon. And he shaved and changed his garments, and came to Pharaoh.

The Jewish Rabbis say that when Joseph shaved and changed his clothes, this is a Hebrew idiom that refers to Joseph hiding his true identity as a Hebrew, and as a son of Jacob.  In this last half of Genesis 41:14, Joseph could no longer be recognized as the son of Jacob, but instead became “gentilizied”.  He became an Egyptian.  He forsook or at least hid his heritage.  In 2,000 years of church history the Greek name “Jesus” was given to Yeshua.  He was “shaved” and his ''clothes were changed''.  In particularly the Orthodox Jewish world, and according to some passages in the Torah, the beard and the hair at the temples of the head of a male are not to be cut. (‘’zaken’’ and elder a bearded one)

Gen 41:15  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it. Now I myself have heard it said of you that you understand a dream, to interpret it.”
Gen 41:16  And Yosĕph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me, let Elohim answer Pharaoh with peace.”
Gen 41:17  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “See, in my dream I stood on the bank of the river
Gen 41:18  and saw seven cows coming up out of the river, fine looking and fat, and they fed amongst the reeds,
Gen 41:19  then saw seven other cows coming up after them, poor and very ugly and lean of flesh, such ugliness as I have never seen in all the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:20  “And the lean of flesh and ugly cows ate up the first seven, the fat cows.
Gen 41:21  “Yet when they had eaten them up, no one would have known that they had eaten them, for they were as ugly as at the beginning. Then I awoke.
Gen 41:22  “Also, I looked in my dream and saw seven heads coming up on one stalk, complete and good,
Gen 41:23  then saw seven heads, withered, lean, scorched by the east wind, coming up after them.
Gen 41:24  “And the lean heads swallowed the seven good heads. And I spoke to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me.”
Gen 41:25  And Yosĕph said to Pharaoh, “The dream of Pharaoh is one. Elohim has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do:
Gen 41:26  “The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years – it is one dream.
Gen 41:27  “And the seven lean and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads scorched by the east wind are seven years of scarcity of food.
Gen 41:28  “This is the word which I spoke to Pharaoh: Elohim has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.
Gen 41:29  “See, seven years of great plenty are coming in all the land of Mitsrayim,
Gen 41:30  but after them seven years of scarcity of food shall arise and all the plenty be forgotten in the land of Mitsrayim. And the scarcity of food shall destroy the land,
Gen 41:31  and the plenty shall not be remembered in the land, because of the scarcity of food following, for it is very severe.
Gen 41:32  “And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the word is established by Elohim, and Elohim is hastening to do it.

The dream was repeated twice. Perhaps this refers to the first and second coming of Yahshua.
There is a disparity in some of the facts when the dream is repeated. Why? The sages say the difference is significant.
Perhaps vs 31 holds a key. If we are to believe that during the first seven year period there is not only the opportunity to “download” Torah as it was meant to be downloaded according to the second writings but also to walk and live the Torah as it was meant to be lived as recorded in the second writings.
Vs 31 may suggest that it will be impossible to do so during the second seven year period of famine. In other words there may be a severe hostility against knowing and walking according to the true Torah of Messiah during the final seven year great tribulation.

1Co 10:11  And all these came upon them as examples, and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come,
1Co 10:12  so that he who thinks he stands, let him take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13  No trial has overtaken you except such as is common to man, and Elohim is trustworthy, who shall not allow you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the trial shall also make the way of escape, enabling you to bear it.
1Co 10:14  Therefore, my beloved ones, flee from idolatry.

Idolatry is clearly all and any activity that hinders the proper grasp and walk of the Torah in our lives.
Many will argue that it is the manifestation of Yahshua that is most important in the last days. There can be no genuine and lasting manifestation of Messiah outside of Torah.

Gen 41:33  “And now, let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:34  “Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, to take up one-fifth of the land of Mitsrayim in the seven years of plenty.
Gen 41:35  “And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
Gen 41:36  “And the food shall be for a store for the land for the seven years of scarcity of food which shall be in the land of Mitsrayim, and do not let the land be cut off by the scarcity of food.”
Gen 41:37  And the word was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.

Pharoah wanted a sign that Yosef was telling the truth.

Yasher 48
62 And the king answered and said unto Joseph, Who sayeth and who knoweth that thy words are correct? And he said unto the king, This shall be a sign for thee respecting all my words, that they are true and that my advice is good for thee.
63 Behold thy wife sitteth this day upon the stool of delivery, and she will bear thee a son and thou wilt rejoice with him; when thy child shall have gone forth from his mother's womb, thy first born son that has been born these two years back shall die, and thou wilt be comforted in the child that will be born unto thee this day.
64 And Joseph finished speaking these words to the king, and he bowed down to the king and he went out, and when Joseph had gone out from the king's presence, those signs which Joseph had spoken unto the king came to pass on that day.
65 And the queen bare a son on that day and the king heard the glad tidings about his son, and he rejoiced, and when the reporter had gone forth from the king's presence, the king's servants found the first born son of the king fallen dead upon the ground.
Yasher 49
9 And all the officers answered the king and said, But surely it is written in the laws of Egypt, and it should not be violated, that no man shall reign over Egypt, nor be the second to the king, but one who has knowledge in all the languages of the sons of men.
10 Now therefore our lord and king, behold this Hebrew man can only speak the Hebrew language, and how then can he be over us the second under government, a man who not even knoweth our language?
11 Now we pray thee send for him, and let him come before thee, and prove him in all things, and do as thou see fit.
12 And the king said, It shall be done tomorrow, and the thing that you have spoken is good; and all the officers came on that day before the king.
13 And on that night the Lord sent one of his ministering angels, and he came into the land of Egypt unto Joseph, and the angel of the Lord stood over Joseph, and behold Joseph was lying in the bed at night in his master's house in the dungeon, for his master had put him back into the dungeon on account of his wife.
14 And the angel roused him from his sleep, and Joseph rose up and stood upon his legs, and behold the angel of the Lord was standing opposite to him; and the angel of the Lord spoke with Joseph, and he taught him all the languages of man in that night, and he called his name Jehoseph. End quote.

Here we see two very interesting parallels of how Yosef saves Egypt and how Yahshua came to redeem mankind.
1.The death of the first born.
2.The proclamation of this redemptive message in all the languages of the world – Shavuot or Pentecost.

Pharoah also gives Yosef a gentile wife – Yahshua was also given a gentile wife  – gentiles – those who would be grafted into the olive tree – Yisrael -
Later on Pharoah changes Yosef’s name to  - Zaphnath-paaneah; - an Egyptian word, of which the most accredited interpretations are "the Salvation of the World," (Furst, Jablonsky, Rosellini, and others); "the Rescuer of the World" (Gesenius); "the Prince of the Life of the World" (Brugsch); "the Food of Life," or "the Food of the Living"

Isa 29:11  And the entire vision is to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men give to one who knows books, saying, “Read this, please.” And he said, “I am unable, for it is sealed.”

Will an end time remnant of Yosef's descendants messianic believers – bring a word of salvation and restoration to the world?
