Parashat 47 Portion 135 Dev 11:26-12:19 Yesh 54:11-55:6 1Tim 6:13-16

Blessing for the Torah:

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed! Baruch ata YHVH
Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to.
Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah. Blessed are you, YHVH, giver of the Torah. Ameyn.)

To understand scripture we need to recognize that it was primarily written to a “called out people” – a Messianic people. This week’s Torah portion –“ Re eh” – See! is calling YHVH’s chosen ones to observe – See! -  all matters in the light of obedience or disobedience to YHVH’s Torah – His covenant with Yisrael. For this we need the discernment and understanding that only His Ruach Ha Kodesh can give to us and desires to give to us.

Isa 42:18  “Hear, you deaf! And look, you blind, and see.
Isa 42:19  “Who is blind but My servant, or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is at peace, and blind as servant of יהוה
Isa 42:20  “You see much, but do not guard; ears are open, but do not hear.”
Isa 42:21  It has delighted יהוה, for the sake of His righteousness, to make the Torah great and esteemed.

Only in Messiah can we fully understand and appreciate the depth of wisdom of the Torah and how it relates to all of life.

Isa 42:22  But this is a people robbed and plundered, all of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses. (This includes ALL religious institutions) They have become a prey, with no one to deliver – for plunder, and no one to say, “Restore!” (Heb – “ha shav” to cause to return)  Yer/Jer 6:16-19
Isa 42:23  Who among you gives ear to this, pays attention and hears for the time to come (hereafter)
Isa 42:24  Who gave Ya‛aqoḇ for plunder, and Yisra’ěl to the robbers? Was it not יהוה, He against whom we sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, and they did not obey His Torah!
Isa 42:25  So He has poured on him His burning displeasure and the strength of battle, and it set him on fire all around, yet he did not understand. And it burned against him, yet he did not take it to heart!

This a timely Torah portion in respect to current events and especially those pertaining to the opening of the American Embassy in Yerushalayim this past week.
The role players involved in this dramatic end time unfolding event are for the most part unaware of the significant importance of how this relates to end time events, the restoration of Torah and the return of Messiah – see Is 42:23.
Many may claim they know, but do we really know as we ought to know? – see Is 42.

Rom 8:7  Because the mind of the flesh is enmity towards Elohim, for it does not subject itself to the Torah of Elohim, neither indeed is it able, Rom 7: 8 and those who are in the flesh are unable to please Elohim.  (Proverbs 3.)

Greek – The mind or opinion of human nature expresses hatred towards Elohim and by its very nature cannot submit itself to the Torah of Elohim or in indeed able to do so.
Man was not meant to live by his/her own opinions (Gan Eden) but was meant to live as Yahshua lived -
Joh 5:19 Therefore יהושע responded and said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son is able to do none at all by Himself, but only that which He sees the Father doing, because whatever He does, the Son also likewise does.
Joh 5:30  “Of Myself I am unable to do any matter. As I hear, I judge, and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own desire, but the desire of the Father who sent Me.

Torah Portion: Re eh – See!

Deu 11:26  ‘See, I am setting (giving) before you today a blessing and a curse: (giving both)
Deu 11:27  the blessing, when you obey the commands of יהוה your Elohim which I command you today;
Deu 11:28  and the curse, if you do not obey the commands of יהוה your Elohim, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other mighty ones which you have not known.

Zec 14:1  See, a day shall come for יהוה, and your spoil shall be divided in your midst – (the city will be plundered in the last days)
Zec 14:2  And I shall gather all the nations to battle against Yerushalayim.a And the city shall be taken, the houses plundered, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into exile, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Footnote: a Joe_3:2, Zep_3:8, Rev_16:14

Zec 14:3  And יהוה shall go forth, and He shall fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.

If YHVH allows this to happen to His people, what will happen to the rest of the nations of the world?

Rashi - This teaches that whoever worships idols departs from the entire path that Israel has been commanded. From here [our Rabbis] said: One who acknowledges [the divinity of] pagan deities is as though he denies the entire Torah. — [Sifrei]

וְהַקְּלָלָה, אִם-לֹא תִשְׁמְעוּ אֶל-מִצְוֹת יְהוָה

“ The Curse” “vehakelala” Strongs 7045 – to treat with contempt also to withdraw from someone or something because all association has become displeasing and worthless.

Deu 11:29  ‘And it shall be, when יהוה your Elohim has brought you into the land which you go to possess, that you shall put the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ěyḇal.
Deu 11:30  ‘Are they not beyond the Yardĕn, toward the setting sun, in the land of the Kenaʽanites who dwell in the desert plain opposite Gilgal, beside the terebinth trees of Moreh?

“Gerizim” means “cuttings off” we get the idea of pruning excess vegetation to facilitate better growth and fruitfulness. Blessing comes as the Ruach Ha Kodesh removes hindrances to our spiritual growth.

“eybal” means “bare” it can imply much activity but no fruit.

In spite of all these warnings and consequences of our disobedience YHVH still chooses to bless a remnant of His people.

Isa 54:14  “In righteousness you shall be established – far from oppression, for you shall not fear, and far from ruin, for it does not come near you.
Isa 54:15  “See, they shall indeed assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever shall assemble against you falls for your sake!
Isa 54:16  “See, I Myself have created the blacksmith who blows the coals in the fire, who brings forth an instrument for his work. And I have created the waster to destroy.
Isa 54:17  “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall prove wrong. This is the inheritance of the servants of יהוה, and their righteousness from Me,” declares יהוה

1Ti 6:13  In the sight of Elohim who gives life to all, and of Messiah יהושע who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you:
1Ti 6:14  that you guard the command spotlessly, blamelessly, until the appearing of our Master יהושע Messiah, Footnote: Command (singular) often means commands, - Torah e.g. Deu_17:20, Psa_19:7-8
1Ti 6:15  which in His own seasons He shall reveal – the blessed and only Ruler, the Sovereign of sovereigns and Master of masters,
1Ti 6:16  who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or is able to see, to whom be respect and everlasting might. Aměin.

The location of Gerizim and Eybal have an important history in the life of the children of Yisrael, including those grafted into the nation of Yisrael by faith in Yahshua.

“In Deuteronomy 27 and 28 we see the command YHVH gave that an altar be made of living stones and placed on Mount Ebal. This mountain tells us the precise location of this event takes place, as Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim are the primary landmarks for the city of Shechem. Out of every city in the ancient world, Shechem could quite possibly take the top spot as the most important city outside Yerushalayim. As we take the time to understand what this city actually was and the significant events that happened there, I believe we will discover something deep within the text that will truly inspire us all.

Genesis 12:1-7 - The Call of Abram:
Right here we see that Shechem is the gateway to the Promised Land. It's like the Eastern gate into the tabernacle of Mosheh, the place where the covenant between YHVH and Avraham is made on behalf of the inheritance of the land. This is the very place where the first altar in the Set Apart Land was built and, as we shall see, will be the place where the Messiah is first foreshadowed within the landscape itself.
As we move forward in time, we see that after Yakov ends up at Shechem after he reunites with Esav. It is here that he purchases a parcel of land from the king for a hundred pieces of money and it is in this very spot that his grandfather Avraham built his altar. It will be Yakov who rebuilds it and calls it the altar of the "Elohim of Yisrael," the Supreme Judge of Yisrael.

The city of Shechem is planted between the shoulders of Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim. The word Shechem literally means "The neck between the shoulders." This is the spot where Mosheh was told to divide the children of Yisrael into six tribes while standing on Mount Gerizim and six while standing on Mt. Ebal.
Once the marriage vows had been said, Yahushua took a large stone and put it underneath the VERY SAME Terebinth tree where YHVH had made His covenant with Avraham! And it is here Yakov declared to be the altar of the Elohim of Yisrael, and where all of Yisrael has now promised to follow YHVH, their Bridegroom.

Genesis/Beresheet 37:12-13
"Then his brothers went to feed their father's flock in Shechem. And Yisrael said to Yosef, 'Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, I will send you there."
“Yosef” will find a small remnant at Shechem in the last days. These will take the yoke(Torah) upon their shoulders – Mat 11:28

Isaiah/Yes 9:6 "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government will be upon His shoulders...(Shechem)"
This prophecy is of the coming Messiah and it says that the government of Ysrael will be upon His shoulders? This is nothing short of a reference to the High Priestly garment that goes back to the mountains of Shechem!

According to John 3:23, the immerser "was immersing in Aenon near Salim." Salim is the name of a village three miles east of Shechem, and Aenon means springs. "Aenon near Salim" may have been four large springs on the eastern edge of Mt. Gerizim.

Shechem became one of the cities of refuge, the central city of refuge for Western Palestine ( Joshua 20:7 ), and here the bones of Joseph were buried ( 24:32 ). Rehoboam was appointed king in Shechem ( 1 Kings 12:1 1 Kings 12:19 ), but Jeroboam afterwards took up his residence here.

According to John 3:23, the Baptist "was baptizing in Aenon near Salim." Salim is the name of a village three miles east of Shechem, and Aenon means springs. "Aenon near Salim" may have been four large springs on the eastern edge of Mt. Gerizim.

Deu 11:31  ‘For you are passing over the Yardĕn to go in to possess the land which יהוה your Elohim is giving you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it,
Deu 11:32  and shall guard to do all the laws and right-rulings which I am setting before you today.’
Deu 12:1  “These are the laws and right-rulings which you guard to do in the land which יהוה Elohim of your fathers is giving you to possess, all the days that you live on the soil.
Deu 12:2  “Completely destroy all the places where the nations which you are dispossessing served their mighty ones, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.
Deu 12:3  “And you shall break down their altars, and smash their pillars, and burn their Ashĕrim with fire. And you shall cut down the carved images of their mighty ones and shall destroy their name1 out of that place. Footnote: 1The names of the gentile deities (mighty ones).
Deu 12:4  “Do not do so to יהוה your Elohim,
Deu 12:5  but seek the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His Name there, for His Dwelling Place, and there you shall enter.
Deu 12:6  “And there you shall take your burnt offerings, and your offerings, and your tithes, and the contributions of your hand, and your vowed offerings, and your voluntary offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock.
Deu 12:7  “And there you shall eat before יהוה your Elohim, and shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which יהוה your Elohim has blessed you.
Deu 12:8  “Do not do as we are doing here today – each one doing whatever is right in his own eyes1. Footnote: 1See Jud. 17:6 & 21:25.
Deu 12:9  “Because you have not yet entered the rest and the inheritance which יהוה your Elohim is giving you.
Deu 12:10  “But you shall pass over the Yardĕn, and shall dwell in the land which יהוה your Elohim is giving you to inherit, and He shall give you rest from all your enemies round about, and you shall dwell in safety.
Deu 12:11  “And it shall be, that unto the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses to make His Name dwell there, there you are to bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your offerings, and your tithes, and the contributions of your hand, and all your choice offerings which you vow to יהוה.
Deu 12:12  “And you shall rejoice before יהוה your Elohim, you and your sons and your daughters, and your male servants and your female servants, and the Lĕwite who is within your gates, since he has no portion nor inheritance with you.
Deu 12:13  “Guard yourself that you do not offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see,
Deu 12:14  except in the place which יהוה chooses, in one of your tribes, there you are to offer your burnt offerings, and there you are to do all that I command you.
Deu 12:15  “Only, whatever your being desires you shall slaughter and eat, according to the blessing of יהוה your Elohim which He has given you, within all your gates. The unclean and the clean do eat of it, of the gazelle and the deer alike.
Deu 12:16  “Only, the blood you do not eat, pour it on the earth like water.
Deu 12:17  “You are not allowed to eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or of the firstlings of your herd or your flock, or of any of your offerings which you vow, or of your voluntary offerings, or of the contribution of your hand.
Deu 12:18  “But eat them before יהוה your Elohim, in the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses, you and your son and your daughter, and your male servant and your female servant, and the Lĕwite who is within your gates. And you shall rejoice before יהוה your Elohim in all that you put your hands to.
Deu 12:19  “Guard yourself that you do not forsake the Lĕwite as long as you live in your land.

YHVH’s promise to the remnant – Rev 12:17

Deu 30:5  “And יהוה your Elohim shall bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. And He shall do good to you, and increase you more than your fathers.
Deu 30:6  “And יהוה your Elohim shall circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being, so that you might live,
Deu 30:7  and יהוה your Elohim shall put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
Deu 30:8  “And you shall turn back and obey the voice of יהוה and do all His commands which I command you today.
Deu 30:9  “And יהוה your Elohim shall make you have excess in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground for good. For יהוה turns back to rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers,
Deu 30:10  if you obey the voice of יהוה your Elohim, to guard His commands and His laws which are written in this Book of the Torah, if you turn back to יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being.

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn
