Parashat 16 Portion 57 Shemot/Exodus 15:19 – 16:24 Yesh 45:18-25 Yoh 6:31-51

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed!
Baruch ata YHVH. Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

The most important Words that were ever given to mankind were given by YHVH to Moshe on Mount Sinai in the Arabian wilderness – The Torah.

Today the most important Words still come from a people who speak from a ‘’spiritual wilderness’’ those very same Words that were given to Moshe on Mount Sinai.

The greatest Torah teacher who ever lived and still lives is Yahshua Ha Mashiach. The Messiah will upon His return proclaim and teach the very same words – the Torah – that was given to Moshe on Mount Sinai –

Isa 2:2  And it shall be in the latter days that the mountain of the House of יהוה is established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills (Yerushalayim). And all nations shall flow to it.
Isa 2:3  And many peoples shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the House of the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, and let Him teach us His ways, and let us walk in His paths, for out of Tsiyon comes forth the Torah, and the Word of יהוה from Yerushalayim.”

The Torah was not given so we could get into the ‘’Promised Land’’- history tells us that not even Moshe made it into the Promised Land. Those who eventually made it into the Promised Land did not get in because of their obedience, but because of YHVH’s mercy. Sadly, the occupation of the land – Yisrael – was best temporary for YHVH’s people. Time and time again they were dispelled because of their disobedience to YHVH’s Torah.

So, it is today: our obedience to the Torah will not save us because no one has ever obeyed its requirements except for One – Our Messiah – Yahshua.
The Torah does not save – it condemns us of sin - Rom 3:20  Therefore by works of Torah no flesh shall be declared right before Him, Psa_143:2 for by the Torah is the knowledge of sin.b Footnote: b Exo_20:20, Rom_4:15, Rom_7:7.

Rom 3:31  Do we then nullify the Torah through the (Christain) belief? Let it not be! On the contrary, we establish the Torah.c Footnote: cSee Rom_7:12(italics added)

The Torah is established in our lives through our faith in Messiah. No ‘’Torahless’’ person will ever enter YHVH’s Kingdom. No Sabbath breaker, no pork eater, no Jew hater will ever enter His Kingdom.
That’s why this current Appointment we just had – Chag ha matzot – the seven days of unleavened bread are Appointed and anointed to reveal to us the ‘’leaven’’ or secret sin that is still lingering in areas of our lives.
Most of us seem blissfully unaware of ‘’lingering sins’’ we hide them, ignore them or try to justify them. That is why an end time cataclysmic event like the exodus of YHVH’s people will need to take place again in the last days.
Let us once again remind ourselves that the very definition of sin is violating YHVH’s Torah:

1Jn 3:4  Everyone doing sin also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
1Jn 3:5  And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
1Jn 3:6  Everyone staying in Him does not sin. Everyone sinning has neither seen Him nor known Him. [a] Footnote: aSee 1Jn_2:4 and 3Jn_1:11

No one can claim to know YHVH if they keep on violating His Torah.

Eventually the Messiah will teach and show us to obey and live by every single word and commandment of Torah - Jud 1:24  And to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you blameless before the presence of His esteem with exceeding joy, Jud 1:25  to the only wise Elohim, our Saviour, be esteem and greatness and might and authority, both now and forever. Aměn.

This present world system will be completely and totally destroyed.

2Pe 3:7  And the present heavens and the earth are treasured up by the same Word, being kept for fire, to a day of judgment and destruction of wicked men.

2Pe 3:10  But the day of יהוה shall come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:11  Seeing all these are to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be in set-apart behaviour and reverence,
2Pe 3:12  looking for and hastening the coming of the day of Elohim, through which the heavens shall be destroyed, being set on fire, and the elements melt with intense heat!
2Pe 3:13  But according to His promise we wait for a renewed heavens and a renewed earth Isa_65:17, Isa_66:22 in which righteousness dwells.

But there will be a way of escape for those whom YHVH has called to be conformed to the image of His Son – Rom 8:29

Exo 15:19  For the horses of Pharaoh went with his chariots and his horsemen into the sea, and יהוה brought back the waters of the sea upon them. And the children of Yisra’ĕl went on dry ground in the midst of the sea.
Exo 15:20  And Miryam the prophetess, the sister of Aharon, took the timbrel in her hand. And all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
Exo 15:21  And Miryam answered them, “Sing to יהוה, for He is highly exalted! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!”

Isa 51:11  And let the ransomed of יהוה return. And they shall come to Tsiyon with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. Let them attain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Exo 15:22  And Mosheh brought Yisra’ĕl from the Sea of Reeds, and they went out into the Wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. (Shur means walled implying there was no way of escape)
Exo 15:23  And they came to Marah, and they were unable to drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. So the name of it was called Marah.

Eph 4:29  Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth, but only such as is good for the use of building up, so as to impart what is pleasant to the hearers.
Eph 4:30  And do not grieve the Set-apart Spirit of Elohim, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and displeasure, and uproar, and slander be put away from you, along with all evil.
Eph 4:32  And be kind towards one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as Elohim also forgave you in Messiah.

All the years of suffering and oppression can cause one to have a bitter spirit – the cure is to drink the bitter water  because he will turn it sweet again (the tree or execution stake was cast into the bitter water) This is a journey very few choose to follow.

Mat 20:22  But יהושע answering, said…... Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and to be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with?” They said to Him, “We are able.”
Mat 20:23  And He said to them, “You shall indeed drink My cup, and you shall be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with.
Mat 7:13  “Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide – and the way is broad – that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it.
Mat 7:14  “Because the gate is narrow and the way is hard pressed1 which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Footnote: 1Or the way is afflicted.
Mat 7:15  “But beware of the false prophets,1 who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are savage wolves. Footnote: 1See v. 23

Exo 15:24  And the people grumbled against Mosheh, saying, “What are we to drink?”
Exo 15:25  Then he cried out to יהוה, and יהוה showed him a tree. And when he threw it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a law and a right-ruling for them, and there He tried them.
Exo 15:26  And He said, “If you diligently obey the voice of יהוה your Elohim and do what is right in His eyes, and shall listen to His commands and shall guard all His laws, I shall bring on you none of the diseases I brought on the Mitsrites, for I am יהוה who heals you.”

Deu 8:1  “Guard to do every command which I command you today, that you might live, and shall increase, and go in, and shall possess the land of which יהוה swore to your fathers.
Deu 8:2  “And you shall remember that יהוה your Elohim led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, prove you, to know what is in your heart, whether you guard His commands or not.
Deu 8:3  “And He humbled you, and let you suffer hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, to make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of יהוה1. Footnote: 1Messiah quotes this in Mt. 4:4 and in Lk. 4:4.

Exo 15:27  And they came to Ělim, where there were twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees. And they camped there by the waters.

Elim can mean strength – we believe that the 12 tribes of Yisrael and the seventy elders of the Sanhedrin will provide guidance and bring strength and refreshing to the nations. (70)

Exo 16:1  And they set out from Ělim, and all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl came to the Wilderness of Sin,(thorns) which is between Ělim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their going out of the land of Mitsrayim. (this day would become the day following ‘’pesach sheni’’- the second Passover – ‘’a hidden feast with a hidden meaning’’ – Num 9:1-14)
Exo 16:2  And all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl grumbled against Mosheh and Aharon in the wilderness.
Exo 16:3  And the children of Yisra’ĕl said to them, “If only we had died by the hand of יהוה in the land of Mitsrayim, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to satisfaction! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.”
Exo 16:4  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “See, I am raining bread from the heavens for you. And the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, in order to try them, whether they walk in My Torah or not.
Exo 16:5  “And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”
Exo 16:6  And Mosheh and Aharon said to all the children of Yisra’ĕl, “At evening you shall know that יהוה has brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim.
Exo 16:7  “And in the morning you shall see the esteem of יהוה, for He hears your grumblings against יהוה. And what are we, that you grumble against us?”
Exo 16:8  And Mosheh said, “In that יהוה gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfaction, for יהוה hears your grumblings which you make against Him. And what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against יהוה.”
Exo 16:9  And Mosheh said to Aharon, “Say to all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘Come near before יהוה, for He has heard your grumblings.’ ”
Exo 16:10  And it came to be, as Aharon spoke to all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, that they looked toward the wilderness and see, the esteem of יהוה appeared in the cloud.
Exo 16:11  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Exo 16:12  “I have heard the grumblings of the children of Yisra’ĕl. Speak to them, saying, ‘Between the evenings you are to eat meat, and in the morning you are to be satisfied with bread. And you shall know that I am יהוה your Elohim.’ ”
Exo 16:13  And it came to be that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp.
Exo 16:14  And the layer of dew went up, and see, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground.
Exo 16:15  And the children of Yisra’ĕl saw, and they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Mosheh said to them, “It is the bread which יהוה has given you to eat.
Exo 16:16  “This is the word which יהוה has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, an omer for each being, according to the number of beings. Let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ”
Exo 16:17  And the children of Yisra’ĕl did so and gathered, some more, some less.
Exo 16:18  And they measured it by omers, and he who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little. Each one gathered according to his need.
Exo 16:19  And Mosheh said, “Let no one leave any of it until morning.”
Exo 16:20  And they did not listen to Mosheh, so some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Mosheh was wroth with them.
Exo 16:21  And they gathered it every morning, each one according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted.
Exo 16:22  And it came to be, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Mosheh.
Exo 16:23  And he said to them, “This is what יהוה has said, ‘Tomorrow is a rest, a Sabbath set-apart to יהוה. That which you bake, bake; and that which you cook, cook. And lay up for yourselves all that is left over, to keep it until morning.’ ”
Exo 16:24  And they laid it up till morning, as Mosheh commanded. And it did not stink, and no worm was in i

The evidence of travelling in the wilderness are the daily heavenly blessings that come from YHVH.

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn)
