Parashat 31 Portion 102 ‘’Emor’’ Lev 23:9-32 Josh 5:11-15 + 6:23-27

Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, You have set us apart by Your commandments and have commanded us to actively study Your Torah. Please YHVH, our Elohim, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our mouths and in the mouths of all Your people Israel. May You open our eyes to see marvellous truths from Your Torah. Thank You for calling us who were once gentiles excluded from the citizenship of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise having no expectation and without Elohim- but now through the blood of Messiah we have gained access into the covenants and have obtained citizenship into the commonwealth of Israel.  Blessed are You, YHVH, Who teaches Torah to His people Israel. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah.

The Sabbath/Shabbat

Lev 23:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

Lev 23:2  “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘The appointed times(moedim) of יהוה, which you are to proclaim as set-apart gatherings,(mikrei kodesh) My appointed times, (not Jewish festivals) are these:

Lev 23:3  ‘Six days work is done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath (שׁבתון) of rest, (a COMPLETE day of REST – no work, no food making, whereas a Feast day of rest is no servile work but we are allowed to make food. Yom haKippuri is on the same level as a Weekly Shabbat Shabbaton (NO work but in that day NO FOOD id even eaten but it is a day of FAST) a set-apart gathering. You do no work, it is a Sabbath to יהוה in all your dwellings.

In the Hebrew it basically say a Shabbat Shabbaton for the weekly Shabbat and for Yom haKippurim.

Why does YHVH give us these special appointed times? He is showing us a way back into His Kingdom and into His presence - He is showing us through the Appointed Times the Seven-thousand year plan that He has for mankind.

We may argue ‘’is not Yahshua the only way, truth and life back into the presence of the Father?’’

The Father will answer and say ‘’ these are my eternal appointments and must be obeyed as long as the present heavens and earth exist, if you desire to return to Me – a law forever’’.

When we examine and meditate carefully on these appointments – we see that they reveal the very heart and ministry of our Messiah to us on earth.

Mar 2:27  And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

Mar 2:28  “So the Son of Aḏam is also Master of the Sabbath.”[a] Footnote: aSee also Gen_2:2-3

Vs 28 clearly states that is Yahshua who exercises authority even over the rules and regulations that govern the Sabbath day and not man - vs 27  Yahshua teaches that the sabbath was never meant to be a burden to man but a blessing. Sadly, much of what men do or do not do on a sabbath is guided by the commandments and traditions of men. May the Spirit of YHVH give us insight into these matters. If we are to walk as Yahshua walked regarding the Sabbath we are certainly going to offend many people as he did – both Jew and Gentile.

Luk 4:16  And He came to Natsareth, where He had been brought up. And according to His practice, He went into the congregation on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Luk 4:17  And the scroll of the prophet Yeshayahu was handed to Him. And having unrolled the scroll, He found the place where it was written:

Luk 4:18  “The Spirit of יהוה is upon Me,c because He has anointed Me to bring the Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away crushed ones with a release, Footnote: cSee Isa_61:1-3

Luk 4:19  to proclaim the acceptable year of יהוה.”d Isa_61:1-2 Footnote: dAlso see Isa_58:6

Luk 4:20  And having rolled up the scroll, He gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the congregation were fixed upon Him.

Luk 4:21  And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been filled in your hearing.”

Luk 4:22  And all were bearing witness to Him, and marvelled at the pleasant words that came out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not the son of Yosěph?”

The sabbath is an ideal time to come together and share on the blessings and insights you have received while meditating on the weeks Torah portion.

What is a ‘’Shabbaton”? Used 5x in this chapter- See Ex 14:13 – this is the ‘’ התיצבו ‘’ moment.

These appointments with YHVH are the blue print for the restoration of all things – ‘’tikkun olam’’

It’s about our personal restoration; it’s about the restoration of Israel; it’s about the restoration of nations; it’s about the restoration of our planet.

The appearance of the ‘’shabbatons’’ contains the key to the mystery of this restoration. It is about what we as believers alone are called to do and what YHVH alone will do. It is significant that the noun ‘’shabbat’’ is feminine and the noun ‘’shabbaton’’ is masculine.

The Passover feast (Pesach)including the feast of unleavened bread and Shavuot (Feast of Weeks transliterated out of Greek as Pentecost) are concerned about the first coming of Messiah these include our call to repent, to be born again, to be immersed in water and filled with the Spirit. The ‘’shabbatons’’ are found in the fall feasts – the return of Messiah- first in the clouds, (Yom teruah) when Messiah sets his feet on the mount of Olives (Yom ha Kippurim) and then the marriage supper of the Lamb (Sukkot) in the beginning of the millennium. The memorial and celebration of these events are ‘’shabbatons’’ Why? Because we have no control over these events.

Why my Rabbi said that the difference between shabbat and shabbat shabbaton is: one is for the people and one is for God.https://blog.therefinersfire.org/2018/02/the-difference-between-shabbat-and.html     An interesting comment!

There may be a huge difference from ‘’seeing’’ the kingdom and ‘’entering’’ the kingdom.

Joh 3:3  יהושע answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he is unable to see[a] the reign of Elohim.” Footnote: aOr perceive.

Joh 3:4  Naḵdimon said to Him, “How is a man able to be born when he is old? Is he able to enter into his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”

Joh 3:5  יהושע answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is unable to enter into the reign of Elohim.

Joh 3:6  “That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.

Depending on our yielding to Messiah’s instructions will determine if we ‘’see’’ or ‘’enter’’ into the kingdom.

1Co 10:1  For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 1Co 10:2  and all were immersed into Mosheh in the cloud and in the sea, 1Co 10:3  and all ate the same spiritual food, 1Co 10:4  and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed, and the Rock was Messiah. 1Co 10:5  However, with most of them Elohim was not well pleased, for they were laid low in the wilderness. 1Co 10:6  And these became examples for us……and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come….1Co 10:12  so that he who thinks he stands, let him take heed lest he fall.

We see the same pattern in Heb 6:1  Therefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Messiah, let us go on to perfection,[a] not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of belief toward Elohim, Footnote: a Mat_5:48. Heb 6:2  of the teaching of immersions, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of everlasting judgment.

The first three foundations have to do with what we must do and the last three have to do what YHVH does for and in us.

Heb 6:3  And this we shall do, if Elohim indeed permits.

Heb 6:4  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Set-apart Spirit,

Heb 6:5  and have tasted the good Word of Elohim and the powers of the age to come,

Heb 6:6  and fall away, to renew them again to repentance – having impaled for themselves the Son of Elohim again, and put Him to open shame.b Footnote: bSee Heb_10:26-31.

Heb 10:36  For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the desire of Elohim, you receive the promise: Heb 10:37  “For yet a little while – He who is coming shall come and shall not delay.”

Heb 10:38  “But the righteous shall live by belief, but if anyone draws back, my being has no pleasure in him.” Hab_2:3-4. Heb 10:39  But we are not of those who draw back to destruction, but of belief to the preservation of life. (Tikkun olam)

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Amein.
