Parashat 55 Portion 7 ‘’Ha azinu’’ Deut 32:8- & Rev chapters 5 & 6

Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, who has made us set apart through His commandments and commanded us to engross ourselves in the words of the Torah. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah – Amein.

The Song of Moses in Deuteronomy 32 is called the “biblical worldview in poetic form”.

It is evident that there are several ‘’biblical world views’’ which one is correct?

According to AI there some 45 000 different Christian denominations in the world today. According to AI as well, there are about 1million Hebrew roots believers in the world and between 10 000 and 20 000 in South Africa, and between 1000 and 2000 in Cape Town at this time.  It is also evident that believers have very strong differences of opinions regarding what is truth and what is error.

Eph 4:1  I call upon you therefore, I the prisoner of the Master, to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,

Eph 4:2  with all humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

Eph 4:3  being eager to guard the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace –

Eph 4:4  one body and one Spirit, as you also were called in one expectation of your calling,

Eph 4:5  one Master, one belief, one immersion, Eph 4:6  one Elohim and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Paul goes on to say - Gal 1:8  However, even if we, or a messenger out of heaven, bring a ‘Good News’ to you beside what we announced to you, let him be accursed.

Gal 1:9  As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone brings a ‘Good News’ to you beside what you have received, let him be accursed.

Was Paul being arrogant or was he speaking the truth?

This is a very confusing issue which believers have faced for centuries and continue to face in these last days. Every believer will be required to give an account of themselves regarding their choices in this life.

Rom 14:10  But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Messiah.

In my personal spiritual journey over the past 50 years, I have come to the conclusion that YHVH gave mankind His biblical worldview in the Song of Moses. I also state that I am not a final authority on His view and everything I say about His view is subject to correction.

My personal testimony is that beginning to discover and embracing YHVH’s biblical world view is truly discovering ‘’the pearl of great price and the treasure hidden in the field’’ that inspires one to forsake all in pursuit of His Kingdom – See Parables of the Kingdom Mat 13:44-45

Summary of the Song of Moses – YHVH’s ‘’Biblical worldview’’ so far:

Line 1 – Heaven and earth witness to the truth of the Song of Moses.

Line 2 – This truth was YHVH’s Torah, sown and nourished in the hearts of His people.

Line 3 – Fallen elohim also sowed their religious seeds opposing the Torah in men’s hearts.

Line 4 – Our only hope against this religious ‘’mixed seed’’ was by calling on the name of YHVH.

Line 5 – YHVH appointed Messiah to restore truth in the midst of this religious corruption

Line 6 – Messiah is the only man who was morally upright and righteous to achieve this task.

Line 7 -  Messiah achieved this task by taking our corruption upon himself.

Line 8 – In spite of Messiah’s great sacrifice for us, we treated him badly

Line 9 – This was the price He was willing to pay for our restoration.

Line 10 – From ancient times this was always YHVH’s plan to redeem us.

Line 11 – Our wise prophets and elders confirmed to us that this was His plan to restore us.

Line 12 – Moses explains to us how and when mankind got corrupted by religion and idolatry.

This Song shows us how we were meant to preach the gospel.

12.Dev 32:8 “When the Most High (m) gave the nations their inheritance (allotments)

בְּהַנְחֵל עֶלְיוֹן גּוֹיִם,

At Babel, humanity was divided into distinct nations (Gen 11).

YHVH allotted the nations to spiritual beings — the “sons of Elohim” (Deut 32:8).

Israel was not allotted to them but kept by Yahveh himself (Deut 32:9).

Over time, all these nations fell into spiritual deception and idolatry. (mixed seed)

The mission of Israel was to bring all nations back to Yahveh (cf. Isa 49:6, Acts 17:26-31). This division and corruption of nations is explained in passages like Psalm 82.

12(b) When He separated (parted פּרד) the sons of Aam, (m)

 בְּהַפְרִידוֹ בְּנֵי אָדָם

13 He set the boundaries of the peoples (m)

יַצֵּב גְּבֻלֹת עַמִּים

13(b) According to the number of the children (m) of Yisra’ĕl.

לְמִסְפַּר בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל  - (not the sons of Israel but the sons of Elohim – Ps 82)

14. Dev 32:9 “For(but) the portion of יהוה is His people,

כִּי חֵלֶק יְהוָה, עַמּוֹ

Israel is described as "YHVH's portion" or “YHVH's inheritance."  This signifies that YHVH has chosen Israel as His special people from all the nations.

Isa 49:6  and He says, “Shall it be a small matter for You to be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Ya‛aqo, and to bring back the preserved ones of Yisra’ěl? And I shall give You as a light to the nations, to be My deliverance to the ends of the earth!”

14(b) Ya’aqov His allotted inheritance.

יַעֲקֹב, חֶבֶל נַחֲלָתוֹ.

Yakov is YHVH’s measured portion חבל is His people –

15.Dev 32:10 “He found him in a wilderness,

יִמְצָאֵהוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִדְבָּר

Heb “yimtzeoo” future tense means YHVH will find ‘’Jacob’’ again in the wilderness of the nations. (great tribulation)

15(b) And in a wasted, howling desert.

וּבְתֹהוּ יְלֵל יְשִׁמֹן;

In the midst of the great howling  יְלֵל ‘’chaos’’ תֹהוּ of the end times, His called out ones will find themselves in a desolate wasteland ישׁימון (devasted by the great tribulation Jer 4:23 ־תהו ובהוHos 2:14  “Therefore, see, I am alluring her, and shall lead her into the wilderness, and shall speak to her heart…..See also Eze 20:35  “And I shall bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and shall enter into judgment with you face to face there

16. He encompassed him, He made him understand,

יְסֹבְבֶנְהוּ, יְבוֹנְנֵהוּ fut. tense – He will surround Jacob and Jacob will understand.

16(b) He watched over him as the apple of His eye.

יִצְּרֶנְהוּ, כְּאִישׁוֹן עֵינוֹ

He is watching over them יִצְּרֶנְהוּ like the pupil כְּאִישׁוֹן of His Eye עֵינוֹ

17.Dev 32:11 “As an eagle stirs up its nest,

כְּנֶשֶׁר יָעִיר קִנּוֹ,

As an eagle He will stir up עִיר his nest. קִנּוֹ

In these last days YHVH will ‘’awaken’’ His children in His ‘’nest’’ קִנּוֹ – the camp of the righteous.

17(b) Flutters over its young,

עַל-גּוֹזָלָיו יְרַחֵף

Over His fledglings chicks  גּוֹזָלָיו   He is ‘’vibrating’’ יְרַחֵף see Gen 1:2 – to restore His people

18. Spreading יִפְרֹשׂ  out its wings, כְּנָפָיו  taking them up, יִקָּחֵהוּ - snatch, take away Acts 8:38

Exo 19:4  ‘You have seen what I did to the Mitsrites, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Exo 19:5  ‘And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all the peoples – for all the earth is Mine – Acts 8:38 – ‘’Phillip’s transport’’

18(b) Bearing (lifting) them on its (his) wings. (pinions)

יִשָּׂאֵהוּ עַל-אֶבְרָתוֹ

יִשָּׂאֵהוּ – root ‘’nasa’’ to lift.  עַל-אֶבְרָתוֹ – pinion or outer feathers of the wing.

Additional notes by Rabbi Ginsburgh: “The Messianic Wings”

One of the most potent images in the song of Ha'azinu is the image of the eagle hovering over his nest of fledglings (Deuteronomy 32:11). In this metaphor, YHVH, the eagle, comes to waken the fledglings in his nest, hovers over them, spreads his wings over them and finally lifts them on his wings in redemptive flight through the sky. There are two synonyms for "wings" in this verse: kanaf, whose numerical value is 150, and evrah, whose numerical value is 208. Together, these two words equal 358, the numerical value of Mashiach. The eagle carrying the Hebrew People on his wings is the Mashiach, carrying out his Divine Messianic mission. In the Torah portion of Yitro (Exodus 19:4) Elohim also refers to the redemption from Egypt as redemption "on the wings of eagles." Clearly, the eagle and his wings have messianic implications.

19. Dev 32:12 יהוה alone led him, - (Heb נחה or guided them)

 יְהוָה, בָּדָד יַנְחֶנּוּ

Unlike the rest of creation, Israel was not placed under the stewardship of ‘the elohim’’ Ps 82. YHVH alone guided them.

19(b) And there was no strange mighty one with him.

וְאֵין עִמּוֹ, אֵל נֵכָר

נכר – foreign gods or strange Elohim

Isa 43:11  “I, I am יהוה, and besides Me there is no saviour.

Isa 45:5  I am יהוה, and there is none else – there is no elohim besides Me.  I gird you, though you have not known Me,

Isa 45:18  For thus said יהוה, Creator of the heavens, He is Elohim, Former of earth and its Maker, He established it, He did not create it to be empty, He formed it to be inhabited: “I am יהוה, and there is none else.

20. Dev 32:13 “He made him ride in the heights of the earth,

יַרְכִּבֵהוּ עַל-במותי בָּמֳתֵי אָרֶץ

Lit. Heb. states – He caused him to ride on the high places of the high places (Heb –‘’bâmâh’’ technical name for a cultic platform.

Eph 2:6  and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Messiah יהושע,

Eph 1:21  far above all rule and authority and power and mastery, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

20(b) And he ate the fruit ‘’tenûbâh’’ of the fields,

וַיֹּאכַל תְּנוּבֹת שָׂדָי

Isa 61:6  But you shall be called, ‘Priests of יהוה,’ ‘Servants of our Elohim’ shall be said of you. You shall consume (eat) the strength of the nations, and boast in their esteem.

21. Deut 32:14  And He made him to draw (suck) honey from the rock, (sela‛- crag or a cliff)

וַיֵּנִקֵהוּ דְבַשׁ מִסֶּלַע, -

YHVH caused Israel to receive sweetness, nourishment, and delight even from desolate, impossible places. It is both poetic and theological, emphasizing YHVH’s provision in the wilderness, His power to sustain, and His ability to bring joy and sweetness from hardship.

21(b)  And oil from the flinty rock,

וְשֶׁמֶן מֵחַלְמִישׁ צוּר.

Isa 45:3  And I shall give you the treasures of darkness and hoarded wealth of secret places, so that you know that I, יהוה, who are calling you by your name, am the Elohim of Yisra’ěl.

22. Dev 32:14 “Curds from the cattle, And milk of the flock,

חֶמְאַת בָּקָר וַחֲלֵב צֹאן,

22(b) With fat of lambs,

עִם-חֵלֶב כָּרִים וְאֵילִים  - כַּר battering or guarding rams/ אֵילִים – ram or a strong man, leader, chief

23. And rams of the breed of Bashan, And goats, vs 14

בְּנֵי-בָשָׁן וְעַתּוּדִים

And rams בְּנֵי or sons of the breed of Bashan, And he goats (attûd)

The name Bashan (בָּשָׁן in Hebrew) often symbolizes abundance and prosperity, (often by ill ill-gotten gain) reflecting its rich agricultural resources. Before the Israelites conquered it, Bashan was inhabited by the Amorites, a formidable people with a powerful king controlled by demonic forces.

23(b) with the choicest wheat; כִּלְיוֹת – the fat of the kidneys of wheat – the choicest part.

עִם-חֵלֶב, כִּלְיוֹת חִטָּה

24. And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.

וְדַם-עֵנָב, תִּשְׁתֶּה-חָמֶר

Isaiah 25 and Deuteronomy 32:14 are linked thematically and symbolically through the idea of a divine, cosmic feast that celebrates YHVH's victory over evil and His blessing for His people.

Isa 25:6  And in this mountain יהוה of hosts shall make for all people a feast of choice pieces, a feast of old wines, of choice pieces with marrow, of old wines, well-refined. Isa 25:7  And He shall swallow up on this mountain the surface of the covering which covers all people, and the veil which is spread over all nations.

‘’ While the Hebrew word חָמֶר (āmer) — "rich/foaming wine" — does not explicitly appear in the New Testament (which is written in Greek), the imagery of āmer is very much present in the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19), drawing heavily from Old Testament prophetic traditions — especially Isaiah 25 and Deuteronomy 32:14, where āmer is found.’’

Deuteronomy 32:15 marks a dramatic turning point in the Song of Moses. It shifts the tone from YHVH's goodness and care to Israel’s rebellion and unfaithfulness.

The puzzle of the Song of Moses is now perhaps becoming clearer.

As we approach the last days there seems to be three distinct groups.

a)        Those who escape the great tribulation in the wilderness.

b)       Those who enter the great tribulation and repent

c)        Those who enter the great tribulation and refuse to repent

Regardless of where one may find oneself in these last days, it will be clear that YHVH is giving everyone an opportunity to enter into an everlasting covenant with Himself through Yashua our Messiah. Only those who walk in the righteousness of the Torah will be permitted to enter into this covenant and into His Kingdom. Those that refuse to submit to YHVH’s rule and authority will find themselves outside His kingdom for ever.

24 (b) Dev 32:15 “But Yeshurun (His chosen ones) grew fat and kicked; (rebelled)

וַיִּשְׁמַן יְשֻׁרוּן וַיִּבְעָט,

It is this ungrateful spirit, not recognizing our spiritual condition, that may well cause the separation between sheep and sheep in YHVH’s end time flock. Ez 34:17

A poetic name for Israel, used only four times (Deut 32:15, 33:5, 33:26; Isa 44:2). Even in the great tribulation YHVH still loves His people.

"Kicked" (וַיִּבְעָט / vayyib‘at) – like a rebellious ox that rejects the yoke - Torah

25. thou didst wax fat, thou didst grow thick, thou didst become gross

.שָׁמַנְתָּ עָבִיתָ כָּשִׂיתָ; fat overweight and gross – disgustingly overweight.

Stout thick and burly – yet in spite of His goodness to you, you rejected Him.

25(b) So he forsook Eloah who made him,

 וַיִּטֹּשׁ אֱלוֹהַּ עָשָׂהוּ

He abandoned Elohim who made him. (talking about Yeshrun)

26.And scorned the Rock of his deliverance – or he disgraced the rock of his ‘yeshuato’

וַיְנַבֵּל צוּר יְשֻׁעָתוֹ.

Heb. “va yin a bel” to treat with contempt.

26(b) Dev 32:16 “They moved Him to jealousy with foreign matters,

יַקְנִאֻהוּ, בְּזָרִים;

Basically, YHVH’s own people diminished and rejected His Torah.

We respond by making YHVH jealous  קנא  with “foreign ideas” that are contrary to His Torah.

Joh 3:36  “He who believes in the Son possesses everlasting life, but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of Elohim remains on him.”

Study of Revelation.

Revelation 4 marks a dramatic shift in the book from the letters to the assemblies (Rev 1–3) to heavenly visions of YHVH’s throne, beginning a sequence of apocalyptic revelation and judgment.

The Throne in Heaven

Rev 4:1  After this I looked and saw a door having been opened in the heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here and I shall show you what has to take place after this.”  (Ezekiel 1 and Isaiah 6, where prophets are shown heaven)

Rev 4:2  And immediately I came to be in the Spirit and saw a throne set in the heaven, and One sat on the throne.

Rev 4:3  And He who sat there was like a jasper and a ruby stone in appearance. And there was a rainbow (covenant of mercy) around the throne, like an emerald in appearance. (Ex 24:10)

Rev 4:4  And around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, dressed in white robes. And they had crowns of gold on their heads.

Rev 4:5  And out of the throne came lightnings, and thunders, and voices. And seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of Elohim.  (Ex 19:16, Rev1:4)

Rev 4:6  And before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures, covered with eyes in front and in back.

Rev 4:7  And the first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature like a calf, and the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. Ezk_1:10. (image of the four gospel writers)

Rev 4:8  And the four living creatures, each having six wings, Isa_6:2 were covered with eyes around and within. And they do not cease, day or night, saying, “Set-apart, set-apart, set-apart, יהוה Ěl Shaddai, Isa_6:3 who was, and who is, and who is coming!”

Rev 4:9  And when the living creatures give esteem and respect and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,

Rev 4:10  the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and bow before Him who lives forever and ever, and they cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

Rev 4:11  “You are worthy, O יהוה, to receive esteem and respect and power, 1Ch_29:11 for You have created all, and because of Your desire they are, and were created.”

Revelation 5 continues the throne room vision of chapter 4, but now introduces the Lamb as the central figure of redemption and cosmic authority. This chapter dramatically reveals how YHVH’s sovereign plan for the world is entrusted to Yahshua, the slain Lamb.

The Scroll and the Lamb

Rev 5:1  And I saw in the right hand of Him (YHVH) who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, Ezk_2:10 having been sealed with seven seals.

Rev 5:2  And I saw a strong messenger proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loosen its seals?”

Rev 5:3  And no one in the heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

Rev 5:4  And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.

Rev 5:5  And one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Yehuah,[a] the Root of Dawi,[b] overcame to open the scroll and to loosen its seven seals.” Footnotes: a Gen_49:9-10, Heb_7:14. b Isa_11:1 and Isa_11:10

Rev 5:6  And I looked and saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing, as having been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of Elohim sent out into all the earth.

Rev 5:7  And He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him sitting on the throne.

vs 8-14 Heaven erupts in praise and worship and all created beings bow down and honour the Lamb of YHVH – Yahshua.

Rev 5:8  And when He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the set-apart ones. (The prayers and intercessions of believers are not ignored or lost — they’re preserved, precious, and powerful in YHVH’s cosmic plan)

Rev 5:9  And they sang a renewed song, saying, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals, because You were slain, and have redeemed us to Elohim by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,[c] Footnote: cThis fact is given in 6 other texts in the Book of Revelation.

Rev 5:10  and made us sovereigns and priests to our Elohim, and we shall reign upon the earth.”d Footnote: d Dan_7:18-27

Rev 5:11  And I looked, and I heard the voice of many messengers around the throne, and the living creatures, and the elders. And the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,

Rev 5:12  saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb having been slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and respect and esteem and blessing!”

Rev 5:13  And every creature which is in the heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying, “To Him sitting on the throne, and to the Lamb, be the blessing and the respect and the esteem and the might, forever and ever!”

Rev 5:14  And the four living creatures said, “Aměn!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and bowed before Him who lives forever and ever.

Dan 12:4  “But you, Dani’ěl, hide the words, and seal the book until the time of the end.[a] Many shall diligently search and knowledge shall increase.” Footnote: aSee Dan_12:9

Maybe, we are standing at the threshold for these seals to be opened.

Luk 21:36  “Watch then at all times, and pray that you be counted worthy to escape all this about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.

YHVH preserves a remnant — not only for judgment but for the renewal of the earth.
The survivors of the Great Tribulation will enter the Millennial Kingdom as mortal humans, while the resurrected saints reign with Messiah in glorified immortal bodies (Rev 20:4–6).

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, You have given us your Torah of truth and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah. Amein.
