Parashat 16 Portion 62 Ex 16:28 – 17:16 “Be Salach” Is 58:13-59:7 +20 Is 1:1-27 Ez 5:1-9

Please, YHVH, our Elohim, sweeten the words of Your Torah in our hearts and in the hearts of Your people, the family of Israel. May we and our offspring and the offspring of Your people, the household of Jacob – know Your Name and study Your Torah, for the sake of Your Torah- empowering us to sincerely love one another and to love You above all. Please uncover our eyes and open our hearts that we may carefully examine and understand the marvels and mysteries of Your Torah- Revealed to us through the Messiah - Amein.

Shabbat Shalom.

עד־אנה מאנתם – “until when will you refuse..”

Exo 16:28  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “How long shall you refuse (עד־אנה מאנתם) to guard My commands and My Torot?a Footnote: aTorot - plural of Torah, teaching.

Midrash Tehillim 13, Rabbi Yitzhak explicitly points out that because YHVH used the phrasing of ‘ad-ānāh (until when) four distinct times during the wilderness journey, Israel was later destined to cry out the exact same phrase, ‘ad-ānāh ("How long"), four times in the “galut” or diaspora.

The Fourth Cry in the Galut: The Long Diaspora.

"How long will my enemy be exalted over me?" (עַד־אָנָה יָרוּם אֹיְבִי עָלָי) Ps 13:3

This the sages say is a reference to the destruction of the Second Temple by Rome and the resulting 2,000-year global dispersion. It is the longest, heaviest cry because Roman power (and its historical cultural successors) has physically dominated and remained "exalted over" the geopolitical landscape of Israel for millennia.

We are no doubt living in times where the cry coming from many truth seekers hearts – Jews and gentiles, is becoming more intense  – “How long must we endure this evil world around us? How long must we wait until the Messiah returns and righteousness prevails, how long?

YHVH’s response:  “How long shall you refuse (עד־אנה מאנתם) to guard My commands and My Torot? – Ex 16:28

It is worthy of our most serious consideration that in the final chapter of the Apostolic scriptures we read: Rev 22:14  “Blessed are those doing His commands, so that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter through the gates into the city.

Rom 10:1  Truly brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to Elohim for Yisra’ěl is for deliverance.

Rom 10:2  For I bear them witness that they have an ardour for Elohim, but not according to knowledge.

Rom 10:3  For not knowing the righteousness of Elohim, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject themselves toa the righteousness of Elohim. Footnote: aOr did not obey.

Rom 10:4  For Messiah is the goalb of the ‘Torah unto righteousness’ to everyone who believes

How long will people continue to resist what YHVH has already revealed?

“Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, and the houses are without a man, and the land is laid waste, a ruin, Isa 6:12  and יהוה has removed men far away, and the forsaken places be many in the midst of the land.

Isa 6:13  “But still, there is a tenth part in it, and it shall again be for a burning, like a terebinth tree and like an oak, whose stump remains when it is cut down. The set-apart seed is its stump!”

There is another severe prophecy in Zecheriah that echoes this warning: it is a prophecy about Jerusalem – our spiritual mother  Gal 4:26  But the Yerushalayim above is free, which is the mother of us all – (he is not strictly or exclusively pointing to the future "New Jerusalem")

The most contested piece of real estate on earth and the spiritual capital of the world.

 Jerusalem Will Be Destroyed

Eze 5:1  “And you, son of man, take a sharp sword, take it as a barber’s razor, and you shall pass it over your head and your beard. And you shall take scales to weigh and divide the hair.

Eze 5:2  “Burn with fire one-third in the midst of the city when the days of the siege are completed. And you shall take one-third and strike around it with the sword, and scatter one-third in the wind. And I shall draw out a sword after them.

Eze 5:3  “And you shall take a few hairs from there and bind them in the edge (hem’s) of your garment. Num 15:38

Eze 5:4  “And take again some of them, and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From it a fire shall spread unto all the house of Yisra’ěl. (The remnant is preserved, but it is also sifted – so that redemption may come to the entire household of Israel)

Eze 5:5  “Thus said the Master יהוה, ‘This is Yerushalayim which I have set in the midst of the nations, with the other lands all around her.

The First Third: Burned in the centre of the city (symbolising those who would die of famine and pestilence during the Babylonian siege).

The Second Third: Struck down with a sword (symbolising those slaughtered when the city walls breached).

The Third Third: Scattered into the wind (symbolising those driven into exile)

Eze 5:6  But she rebelled against My right rulings, doing wrong, more than the nations, and My laws more than the lands all around her. For they have rejected My right-rulings, and they have not walked in My laws.’

Eze 5:7  “Therefore thus said the Master יהוה, ‘Because you have rebelled more than the nations all around you, and have not walked in My laws, nor done My right-rulings, nor even done according to the right-rulings of the nations all around you,’

Eze 5:8  therefore thus said the Master יהוה, ‘Look I Myself am against you and shall execute judgments in your midst before the eyes of the nations.

Eze 5:9  And I shall do among you what I have never done, and the like of which I never do again, because of all your abominations.

Something broke in the spiritual and physical realm that still needs to be repaired.

עד־אנה מאנתם – “until when will you (we) refuse to guard His instructions and His Torah.”?

Eze 5:4  “And take again some of them, (few hairs) and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From it a fire shall spread unto all the house of Yisra’ěl.

Could the few hairs bound in Ezekiel's garment represent an end time preserved remnant, while the few hairs subsequently thrown into the fire represent a further tested much smaller remnant from which a restoration ultimately emerges?

Mal 3:2  “And who is able to bear the day of His coming, and who is able to stand when He appears? For He is like the fire of a refiner, and like the soap of a launderer.

Mal 3:3  “And He shall sit as a refiner and a cleanser of silver. And He shall cleanse the sons of Lěwi, and refine them as gold and silver, and they shall belong to יהוה, bringing near an offering in righteousness.

Mal 3:4  “Then shall the offering of Yehuḏah and Yerushalayim be pleasant to יהוה, as in the days of old, as in former years.

It is this refined remnant that prepares the way for the return of Messiah and finally the restoration of the Torah and the nation of Israel on earth to be taught by Messiah.

Isa 2:2  And it shall be in the latter days that the mountain of the House of יהוה is established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills. And all nations shall flow to it.

Isa 2:3  And many peoples shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the House of the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, and let Him teach us His ways, and let us walk in His paths, for out of Tsiyon comes forth the Torah, and the Word of יהוה from Yerushalayim.”

Compare Ezekiel 5:3–4 alongside Zechariah 13:8–9 and Isaiah 10:20–22.

Torah Reading:

Exo 16:28  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “How long shall you refuse (עד־אנה מאנתם) to guard My commands and My Torot?a Footnote: aTorot - plural of Torah, teaching. (the scribes answer – (עד־אנה מאנתם)

Exo 16:29  “See, because יהוה has given you the Sabbath, therefore He is giving you bread for two days on the sixth day. Let each one stay in his place, do not let anyone go out of his place on the seventh day.” (why? Ex 16:27 people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none)

Exo 16:30  So the people rested on the seventh day.b Footnote: bSee Gen_2:2-3.

Exo 16:31  And the house of Yisra’ěl called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like thin cakes made with honey.

Exo 16:32  And Mosheh said, “This is the word which יהוה has commanded: ‘Fill an omer with it, to keep for your generations, so that they see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim.’ ”

Exo 16:33  And Mosheh said to Aharon, “Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and set it down before יהוה, to keep for your generations.” Deut 10:1-5 also Heb 9:4 – 3 objects in the ark

Exo 16:34  As יהוה commanded Mosheh, so did Aharon set it down before the Witness, to keep.

Exo 16:35  And the children of Yisra’ěl ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Kena‛an.

Exo 16:36  And an omer is one-tenth of an ěphah.

In Exodus 16, Israel is being taught to receive YHVH's provision and obey His instructions before arriving at Sinai. At Shavuot, Israel celebrates the wheat harvest and the giving of Torah. In Acts 2, Shavuot becomes associated with the outpouring of YHVH’s Spirit.

Eze 36:27  and put My Spirit within you.a And I shall cause you to walk in My laws and guard My right-rulings and shall do them. Footnote: aSee Ezk_11:19-20, Ezk_37:6-14, Ezk_39:29.

Eze 36:28  “And you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. And you shall be My people, and I shall be your Elohim.

If we had to translate the whole Bible into Hebrew, nowhere in the scriptures is the exact phrase “Ruach Ha Kodesh” found. (I asked AI)

AI response – “You are technically correct regarding the strict grammar of the text, but practically incorrect regarding the words themselves.”

I believe AI’s answer reflects the bias it has towards trinitarianism.

Eze 36:27  and put My Spirit within you – It is ALWAYS the Spirit of YHVH and never a third person deity of a trinitarian godhead.

Grok quoted the following HRT on this matter:

“Elim Ministries (South African Messianic/Torah-based): The “Holy Spirit” / “Set-apart Spirit” is not a separate Person in a Trinity, but an essential part of the one true Elohim and Yahweh’s instrument. The preferred and least-confusing designation is simply “Spirit of Yahweh” (Ruach Yahweh). This view is presented as consistent across the Tanakh and the New Testament.

Yahweh’s Restoration Ministry: The Holy Spirit is an extension/power emanating from Yahweh, not the third person of a triune God. It is never prayed to as a distinct person, and language such as being “poured out,” “shed,” “stirred up,” or “quenched” fits a power far better than a separate being.

Nazarene Notes / related Hebraic teachings: The Spirit is not a third person of any Trinity. It is the power, mind, disposition, or presence of the Eternal Himself (sometimes equated with Yahweh’s own Spirit or mind). Attributes such as being poured out or given in portions are used to argue it is not a separate person.

Note: This is not universal in the broader Messianic or Hebrew Roots world. Some Messianic teachers affirm a form of plural unity or Trinitarian understanding and treat the Spirit as personal. The non-person / “Spirit of YHVH” view is common among certain Hebrew Roots, Sacred Name, and non-Trinitarian Messianic groups.”

Shavuot is about the reawakening of YHVH’s Spirit in His people – that coincides with the giving of the Torah – the manna from Heaven.

Some scholars believe there is huge problem with the way most Christians understand “pentecost” The Christian message of pentecost implies that this long hidden third member of the godhead is finally released to come to earth and fill believers with his unique presence and power.

The truth however, maybe that YHVH’s Spirit entered into man when He gave their first gasp of breath after coming out of their mother’s womb.

Gen 2:7  And יהוה Elohim formed the man out of dust from the ground, and breathed (Heb –“napach” -  to “puff”) into his nostrils breath of lives. And the man became a living being. (Heb “neshamah”)

Napach (נָפַח) – The Active Verb (Exhaling) Hebrew Origin: Napach is a primitive root verb (נ-פ-ח) meaning "to blow," "to puff," "to exhale,"

Neshamah (נְשָׁמָה) – The Substantive Noun (Inhaling) Hebrew Origin: Neshamah is a feminine noun derived from the rare root verb nasham (נ-ש-ם), which means "to pant" or "to take a deep breath"

Both napach and neshamah are considered onomatopoeic words in the Hebrew language. Their linguistic origins are rooted in the physical sounds of breathing, blowing, and panting.

In ancient Semitic languages, words for actions involving air or breath were almost always designed to aurally mimic the natural sounds of those actions.

“Pentecost was a "reawakening" of the Set Apart Spirit already present in every human being.”

Pentecost was not about receiving the third member of the godhead.

The real famine of the last days: - Amo 8:11  “See, days are coming,” declares the Master יהוה, “that I shall send a hunger in the land, not a hunger for bread, nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the Words of יהוה.

Amo 8:12  “And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east – they shall diligently search, seeking the Word of יהוה, but they shall not find it.a Footnote: a Jer_5:13, Hos_8:12, Ezk_34:3-10.

Spiritual Deafness will eventually meet with YHVH’s Silence.

This is the crisis of our time – people are exhausted because of the famine of YHVH’s Word. They suffer like one who has not eaten the bread of YHVH’s Torah and are drinking the living water of YHVH’s Spirit.

 Water from the Rock:

Exo 17:1  And all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ěl set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the mouth of יהוה, and camped in Rephiḏim. And there was no water for the people to drink.

Exo 17:2  Therefore the people strove with Mosheh, and said, “Give us water to drink.” And Mosheh said to them, “Why do you strive with me? Why do you try יהוה?”

Exo 17:3  And the people thirsted there for water, and the people grumbled against Mosheh, and said, “Why did you bring us out of Mitsrayim, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”

Exo 17:4  Then Mosheh cried out to יהוה, saying, “What am I to do with this people? Yet a little and they shall stone me!”

Exo 17:5  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Pass over before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Yisra’ěl. And take in your hand your rod with which you struck the river, and go.

Exo 17:6  “See, I am standing before you there on the rock in Ḥorěḇ. And you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, and the people shall drink.” And Mosheh did so before the eyes of the elders of Yisra’ěl.

Exo 17:7  And he called the name of the place Massah (testing) and Meriḇah, (quarrelling) because of the ‘strife’ of the children of Yisra’ěl, and because they ‘tried’ יהוה, saying, “Is יהוה in our midst or not?” Num 20:11

They despised YHVH’s provision.

The first time the rock was struck (Ex 17:6) this represented the first coming of Yahshua—the Messiah who had to be smitten once to pour out the "Living Water"

The second time water when water came out the rock – Num 20:11 – Moses was to speak to the rock – Moses struck the rock twice and YHVH disqualified him from entering the promised land.

This how we do it today: YHVH planted the Torah and its instructions like seeds in our hearts and nourished and fed them by His Spirit – we refuses to guard the seed – “ how long will you refuse ….. עד־אנה מאנתם

Heb 6:1  Therefore, having left the word of the beginning of the Messiah, let us go on to perfection,a not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of belief toward Elohim, Footnote: a Mat_5:48. “faith is inseparable from action.”

Heb 6:2  of the teaching of immersions, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of everlasting judgment – everlasting -Gk aiōn –“age” an age is a finite span of time

Heb 6:3  And this we shall do, if Elohim indeed permits. (only if your heart is circumcised)

Heb 6:4  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Set-apart Spirit,

Heb 6:5  and have tasted the good Word of Elohim and the powers of the age to come,

Heb 6:6  and fall away, to renew them again to repentance – having impaled for themselves the Son of Elohim again, and put Him to open shame.b Footnote: bSee Heb_10:26-31.

Heb 6:7  For ground that is drinking the rain often falling on it, and is bearing plants fit for those by whom it is tilled, receives blessing from Elohim,

Heb 6:8  but if it brings forth thorns and thistles, Gen_3:18 it is rejected and near to being cursed, and ends up by being burned.

Heb 6:9  But although we speak in this way, beloved, we are persuaded, concerning you, of better matters which possess deliverance.

 Israel Defeats Amalek

Exo 17:8  And Amalěq came and fought with Yisra’ěl in Rephiḏim.

Exo 17:9  And Mosheh said to Yehoshua, “Choose for us men and go out, fight with Amalěq. Tomorrow I am stationing myself on the top of the hill with the rod of Elohim in my hand.”

Exo 17:10  And Yehoshua did as Mosheh said to him, to fight with Amalěq. And Mosheh, Aharon, and Ḥur went up to the top of the hill.

Exo 17:11  And it came to be, when Mosheh held up his hand, that Yisra’ěl prevailed. And when he let down his hand, Amalěq prevailed.

Exo 17:12  But Mosheh’s hands were heavy, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aharon and Ḥur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

Exo 17:13  And Yehoshua defeated Amalěq and his people with the edge of the sword.

Exo 17:14  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Write this for a remembrance in the book and recite it in the hearing of Yehoshua, that I shall completely blot out the remembrance of Amalěq from under the heavens.”

Exo 17:15  And Mosheh built a slaughter-place and called its name, יהוה Nissi,

“Banner” (Heb “nissi””) was viewed as YHVH’s people lifting a giant "signpost" in history. A miracle (Heb “nes”) is quite literally a "divine standard raised high" to catch humanity's attention and point them back to the Creator.

Exo 17:16  for he said, “Because a hand is on the throne Kes (כֵּס)  of Yah, יהוה is to fight against Amalěq, from generation to generation.”

Rashi explains that two things are incomplete as long as Amalek exists:

1.      YHVH's name is not complete – V 16 - YAH

2.      YHVH's throne (כֵּס) is not complete – Vs 16 “kessei” replaced by “kes” – Harpax

Who is Amalek? -possible meaning “depletes a nation like an invading plague”. Amalek is the name of Esau's grandson – the spirit of Esau exists to this day and seeks to annihilate the seed of Yakov his twin brother – with the help of the anti-messiah will almost succeed in the last days.

Linguistically, Amalek points to travail, sorrow, or a predatory people. Conceptually and prophetically, it means "the chilling force of unprovoked hatred" that positions itself against the kingdom of YHVH.

Numbers 24:20, where the prophet Balaam looks out and prophesies: "Amalek was the first of the nations, but its end is utter destruction." The phrase "its end" (acharito) specifically targets the acharit hayamim—the "latter days" or the end of time.

The Beast/Antichrist), a global dictator will attempt to do what Pharaoh, Haman, and Hitler failed to do: completely wipe out the seed of Jacob (Israel).

Zechariah 14:2 and Revelation 12 describe a time when it will look to the world as though the spirit of Esau/Amalek has finally won.

Zec 13:8  And it shall be throughout all the soil,” declares יהוה, “that two thirds therein are cut off and die, and one third is left therein.

Zec 13:9  “And I shall bring the third into fire, and refine them as silver is refined, and try them as gold is tried. They shall call on My Name,b and I shall answer them. I shall say, ‘This is My people,’ while they say, ‘יהוה is my Elohim.’ ” Footnote: b Zep_3:9.

Within modern prophetic scholarship, the re-establishment of Israel on May 14, 1948, is viewed not as a historical accident, but as the critical "trigger event" that set the stage for these end-times prophecies to unfold.

Deu 4:27  “And יהוה shall scatter you among the peoples, and you shall be left few in number among the nations where יהוה drives you.

Deu 4:28  “And there you shall serve mighty ones, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.

Deu 4:29  “But from there you shall seek יהוה your Elohim, and shall find, when you search for Him with all your heartb and with all your being. Footnote: b Jer_29:13.

Deu 4:30  “In your distress, when all these words shall come upon you in the latter days, then you shall return to יהוה your Elohim and shall obey His voice.

Deu 4:31  “For יהוה your Elohim is a compassionate Ěl, He does not forsake you, nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth and have planted perfect liberty and everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Amein.
