Parashat 10 Portion 39 – Miketz -Ber 41:38 – 42:4 Yesh 11:2-9 Luke 9:46-48

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed! Baruch ata YHVHEloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

Psa 119:29  Remove from me the way of falsehood, And favour me with Your Torah.
Psa 119:34  Make(cause) me understand, that I might observe(preserve) Your Torah, And guard it with all my heart.

What does Miketz mean?  It is usually translated ''at the end'' or even ''in the last days''. In Hebrew thought, however, miketz can mean either "at the end" or "at the beginning" -- or both - in Hebrew thought, every ending is a new beginning, and every beginning is an ending to that which went before.

The story of Yosef is the longest continuous narrative in the Torah – Is it about Yahshua’s first and second coming? In His first coming He proclaims the ‘’acceptable year of YHVH’’ (Yesh 61) in His second coming He brings judgment and an end to this age and gives the bread of life to all whom he has chosen - Rev 12:5  And she bore a male child [a] who was to shepherd all nations with a rod of iron. Psa_2:9 And her child was caught away to Elohim and to His throne. Footnote: aSee also Isa_26:17, Isa_66:7, Mic_4:9-10.

The Tabernacle and its accompanying sacrifices are the most taught about subject in the Torah.

Gen 41:38  And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Could we find another like him, a man in whom is the Spirit of Elohim?”

Vs 38,39 - Isa 11:2  The Spirit of יהוה shall rest upon Him – the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of יהוה,
Isa 11:3  and shall make(cause) Him breathe in the fear of יהוה. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears.

Lit – his scent (harihacho - 7306)  is the fear of YHVH. The word “breathe” is not used in the text. However the prophet seems to suggest that the evidence we have been in the presence of the Messiah is that we “breathe” in the scent or fragrance of the fear of YHVH. How many today can witness to this?

2Co 2:15  Because we are to Elohim the fragrance of Messiah among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 2Co 2:16  To the one we are the smell of death to death, and to the other the fragrance of life to life. And who is competent for these?
Hebrew word for “fear” can mean both ''terror'' or ''reverence''.

Gen 41:39  Then Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “Since Elohim has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. Gen 41:40  “Be over my house, you yourself, and at your mouth all my people shall kiss – only in the throne I am greater than you.”
“upon your mouth he will kiss all my people”

Psa 2:12  Kiss the Son, lest He be enraged, And you perish in the way, For soon His wrath is to be kindled. Blessed are all those taking refuge in Him. (kissing speaks of intimacy and covenant -Num 12:8  “I speak with him mouth to mouth, and plainly, and not in riddles. And he sees the form of יהוה. So why were you not afraid to speak against My servant Mosheh?”)

Gen 41:41  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Mitsrayim.” Gen 41:42  And Pharaoh took his seal-ring off his hand and put it on Yosĕph’s hand. And he dressed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.
Gen 41:43  And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had. And they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” And he set him over all the land of Mitsrayim. Gen 41:44  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “I am Pharaoh, and without a word from you let no man lift his hand or foot in all the land of Mitsrayim.”

Vs 44 adds “word” in the translation. The Hebrew word “uvileadeicha” means “apart from you” – Pharoah is stating that because Yosef exists people can exist also.1Co 8:6  for us there is one Elohim,1 the Father, from whom all came and for whom we live, and one Master יהושע Messiah, through whom all came and through whom we live. (Apart from Yahshua we cannot exist)

Gen 41:45  And Pharaoh called Yosĕph’s name Zaphnath-Paʽnĕaḥ. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. And Yosĕph went out over all the land of Mitsrayim.

Joh 6:48 “I am the bread of life. Joh 6:51 “I am the living bread which came down out of the heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever.
Another “Bread man of Life” – came from Beit – Lechem ie ‘’house of Bread’’- Yahshua.
One of the biggest miracles He did was feeding the masses – Mt 14 and 15 first He feeds 5000 men besides woman and children – then 4000 men besides woman and children = approx 40 000 people or even more.
Vs 45 – Strongs 6847 BDB - Zaphnath-paaneah = “treasury of the esteemed rest” According to Rashi the name means “revealer of hidden things”. Asenath – “Modern scholarship says her name derives from the Egyptian "she who belongs to (the goddess) Neith", and that her name may be phonetically transliterated from Egyptian hieroglyphs”

Neith - Neith was a goddess of war and of hunting and had as her symbol, two arrows crossed over a shield. As a deity, Neith is normally shown carrying the was scepter (symbol of rule and power) and the ankh (symbol of life).

An “ankh” is a cross with a loop – see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neith

Gen 41:46  Now Yosĕph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim. And Yosĕph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Mitsrayim.
Luk 3:23  And when יהושע Himself began, He was about thirty years of age, being, as reckoned by law, son of Yosěph, of Ěli,
Mat 2:15 and (Yahshua)remained there until the death of Herodes, to fill what was spoken by יהוה through the prophet, saying, “Out of Mitsrayim I have called My Son.”1 Footnote:1Ex. 4:22-23, Hos. 11:1, Rev. 21:7

Gen 41:47  And in the seven years of plenty the ground brought forth generously. Gen 41:48  And he gathered all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Mitsrayim, and laid up the food in the cities. He laid up in every city the food of the fields which surrounded them. Gen 41:49  Thus Yosĕph gathered very much grain, as the sand of the sea, until he ceased counting, for it was without number.

Maybe this is a prophetic sign that in the last days Africa (Mitzrayim) will become the bread basket of the world again.

Parashat 10 – ‘’Miketz’’ Portion 38 Ber/Gen 41:1-37 Yesh 29:1-16 Rev 7:1-17

Pro 28:9  He who turns away his ear from hearing the Torah, Even his prayer is an abomination.

G
Gen 41:1  And it came to be, at the end of two years’ time, that Pharaoh had a dream, and saw him standing by the river,

Miketz or “at the end…” Strongs 7093 can also mean “at the end of time.” BDB.
Perhaps this Torah portion give us a hint – Remez – that we are the generation living “two thousand years after Messiah’s first coming that will usher in his second coming'' – “it came to be after the end of two years” This is also where this Torah portion gets its name

Gen 41:2  and saw seven cows coming up out of the river, fine looking and fat, and they fed amongst the reeds,
Gen 41:3  then saw seven other cows coming up after them out of the river, ugly and lean of flesh, and stood by the other cows on the bank of the river.
Gen 41:4  And the ugly and lean of flesh cows ate up the seven fine looking and fat cows. Then Pharaoh awoke.
Gen 41:5  And he slept and dreamed a second time and saw seven heads of grain coming up on one stalk, plump and good,
Gen 41:6  and saw seven lean heads, scorched by the east wind, coming up after them.
Gen 41:7  And the seven lean heads swallowed the seven plump and complete heads. Then Pharaoh awoke and saw it was a dream.
Gen 41:8  And it came to be in the morning that his spirit was moved, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Mitsrayim and all its wise men. And Pharaoh related to them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.
Gen 41:9  Then the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, “I remember my crimes this day.
Gen 41:10  “When Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, both me and the chief baker,
Gen 41:11  each one of us dreamed a dream in one night, he and I. Each of us dreamed according to the interpretation of his own dream.
Gen 41:12  “And there was with us a Heḇrew youth, a servant of the captain of the guard. And we related to him, and he interpreted our dreams for us. To each man he interpreted according to his own dream.
Gen 41:13  “And it came to be, as he interpreted for us, so it came to be. He restored me to my office, and he hanged him.”
Gen 41:14  Then Pharaoh sent and called Yosĕph, and they hurriedly brought him out of the dungeon. And he shaved and changed his garments, and came to Pharaoh.

The Jewish Rabbis say that when Joseph shaved and changed his clothes, this is a Hebrew idiom that refers to Joseph hiding his true identity as a Hebrew, and as a son of Jacob.  In this last half of Genesis 41:14, Joseph could no longer be recognized as the son of Jacob, but instead became “gentilizied”.  He became an Egyptian.  He forsook or at least hid his heritage.  In 2,000 years of church history the Greek name “Jesus” was given to Yeshua.  He was “shaved” and his ''clothes were changed''.  In particularly the Orthodox Jewish world, and according to some passages in the Torah, the beard and the hair at the temples of the head of a male are not to be cut. (‘’zaken’’ and elder a bearded one)

Gen 41:15  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it. Now I myself have heard it said of you that you understand a dream, to interpret it.”
Gen 41:16  And Yosĕph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me, let Elohim answer Pharaoh with peace.”
Gen 41:17  And Pharaoh said to Yosĕph, “See, in my dream I stood on the bank of the river
Gen 41:18  and saw seven cows coming up out of the river, fine looking and fat, and they fed amongst the reeds,
Gen 41:19  then saw seven other cows coming up after them, poor and very ugly and lean of flesh, such ugliness as I have never seen in all the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:20  “And the lean of flesh and ugly cows ate up the first seven, the fat cows.
Gen 41:21  “Yet when they had eaten them up, no one would have known that they had eaten them, for they were as ugly as at the beginning. Then I awoke.
Gen 41:22  “Also, I looked in my dream and saw seven heads coming up on one stalk, complete and good,
Gen 41:23  then saw seven heads, withered, lean, scorched by the east wind, coming up after them.
Gen 41:24  “And the lean heads swallowed the seven good heads. And I spoke to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me.”
Gen 41:25  And Yosĕph said to Pharaoh, “The dream of Pharaoh is one. Elohim has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do:
Gen 41:26  “The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years – it is one dream.
Gen 41:27  “And the seven lean and ugly cows which came up after them are seven years, and the seven empty heads scorched by the east wind are seven years of scarcity of food.
Gen 41:28  “This is the word which I spoke to Pharaoh: Elohim has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do.
Gen 41:29  “See, seven years of great plenty are coming in all the land of Mitsrayim,
Gen 41:30  but after them seven years of scarcity of food shall arise and all the plenty be forgotten in the land of Mitsrayim. And the scarcity of food shall destroy the land,
Gen 41:31  and the plenty shall not be remembered in the land, because of the scarcity of food following, for it is very severe.
Gen 41:32  “And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the word is established by Elohim, and Elohim is hastening to do it.

The dream was repeated twice. Perhaps this refers to the first and second coming of Yahshua.
There is a disparity in some of the facts when the dream is repeated. Why? The sages say the difference is significant.
Perhaps vs 31 holds a key. If we are to believe that during the first seven year period there is not only the opportunity to “download” Torah as it was meant to be downloaded according to the second writings but also to walk and live the Torah as it was meant to be lived as recorded in the second writings.
Vs 31 may suggest that it will be impossible to do so during the second seven year period of famine. In other words there may be a severe hostility against knowing and walking according to the true Torah of Messiah during the final seven year great tribulation.

1Co 10:11  And all these came upon them as examples, and they were written as a warning to us, on whom the ends of the ages have come,
1Co 10:12  so that he who thinks he stands, let him take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13  No trial has overtaken you except such as is common to man, and Elohim is trustworthy, who shall not allow you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the trial shall also make the way of escape, enabling you to bear it.
1Co 10:14  Therefore, my beloved ones, flee from idolatry.

Idolatry is clearly all and any activity that hinders the proper grasp and walk of the Torah in our lives.
Many will argue that it is the manifestation of Yahshua that is most important in the last days. There can be no genuine and lasting manifestation of Messiah outside of Torah.

Gen 41:33  “And now, let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Mitsrayim.
Gen 41:34  “Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, to take up one-fifth of the land of Mitsrayim in the seven years of plenty.
Gen 41:35  “And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
Gen 41:36  “And the food shall be for a store for the land for the seven years of scarcity of food which shall be in the land of Mitsrayim, and do not let the land be cut off by the scarcity of food.”
Gen 41:37  And the word was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.

Pharoah wanted a sign that Yosef was telling the truth.

Yasher 48
62 And the king answered and said unto Joseph, Who sayeth and who knoweth that thy words are correct? And he said unto the king, This shall be a sign for thee respecting all my words, that they are true and that my advice is good for thee.
63 Behold thy wife sitteth this day upon the stool of delivery, and she will bear thee a son and thou wilt rejoice with him; when thy child shall have gone forth from his mother's womb, thy first born son that has been born these two years back shall die, and thou wilt be comforted in the child that will be born unto thee this day.
64 And Joseph finished speaking these words to the king, and he bowed down to the king and he went out, and when Joseph had gone out from the king's presence, those signs which Joseph had spoken unto the king came to pass on that day.

Parashat 9 Portion 37 Ber 40:1-23 Yesh 29:8-14, 18-19 Matt 5:1-16 Mark 7:6-9

Isa 29:10  For יהוה has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets. And He has covered your heads, the seers.
Isa 29:11  And the entire vision is to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men give to one who knows books, saying, “Read this, please.” And he said, “I am unable, for it is sealed.”
Isa 29:18  And in that day the deaf shall hear (‘’shemu’’ masc. pl.)) the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see (‘’tirena’’ fem.pl.) out of gloom, and out of darkness.
When the leaders and prophets ‘’hear’’ the ‘’kehilah’’ or called out ones will see.

Dan 12:9  And he said, “Go, Dani’ěl, for the words are hidden and sealed till the time of the end.[b] Footnote: bSee Dan_12:4.

Gen 40:1  And after these events it came to be that the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim sinned against their master, the sovereign of Mitsrayim. (bread and wine are covenant symbols)
Gen 40:2  And Pharaoh was wroth with his two officers,(Heb – sarisaiv – his eunuchs) the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.

The Hebrew word for “officers” is “saris” and comes from the Hebrew verb “seres” which means to castrate or distort. This alludes to the fact that all officers and leaders of a false religious system are “castrated” by the system and are unable to produce a life- giving word (distorted word) that can reveal to us the fullness of who Yahshua is. It is not a coincidence that only a remnant are born again from an incorruptible seed.

1Pe 1:23  having been born again – not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible – through the living Word of Elohim, which remains forever… (not a distorted word)

Gen 40:3  So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Yosĕph was a prisoner.
Gen 40:4  And the captain of the guard put Yosĕph in charge of them, and he served them. So they were in confinement for some time.
Gen 40:5  Then the cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim, who were confined in the prison, dreamed a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.

The Hebrew word used for prison is “sohar” Strongs 5470 – meaning a “house of roundness”
It is rather ironic that the English word “church”(kirke) can also refers to a “house of roundness”
http://askelm.com/doctrine/d980927.htm

Gen 40:6  And Yosĕph came in to them in the morning and looked at them and saw that they were sad.
Gen 40:7  And he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in confinement of his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”
Gen 40:8  And they said to him, “We each have dreamed a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosĕph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to Elohim? Relate them to me, please.”
Gen 40:9  So the chief cupbearer related his dream to Yosĕph, and said to him, “See, in my dream a vine was before me,
Gen 40:10  and in the vine were three branches, and it was as though it budded – its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.
Gen 40:11  “And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand. So I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”
Gen 40:12  And Yosĕph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.
Gen 40:13  “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you shall put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former ruling, when you were his cupbearer.
Gen 40:14  “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me. And mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.
Gen 40:15  “For truly I was stolen away from the land of the Heḇrews. And also I have done naught that they should put me into the dungeon.”
Gen 40:16  And the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to Yosĕph, “I also was in my dream and saw three white baskets were on my head,
Gen 40:17  and in the uppermost basket all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
Gen 40:18  And Yosĕph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days.
Gen 40:19  “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift off your head from you and hang you on a tree. And the birds shall eat your flesh from you.”
Gen 40:20  And on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, it came to be that he made a feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and of the chief baker among his servants,
Gen 40:21  and he restored the chief cupbearer to his post of cupbearer again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,
Gen 40:22  but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosĕph had interpreted to them.
Gen 40:23  And the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosĕph, but forgot him.

This is covenantal language – bread and wine – in YHVH’s covenant there is both life and death. The cup bearer and baker could be a hidden reference to those who minister YHVH’s covenant to His people.

2Co 4:11  For we, the living, are always delivered to death for the sake of יהושע, that the life of יהושע might also be manifested in our mortal flesh,
2Co 4:12  so that death indeed is working in us, but the life in you.

Rom 10:4  For Messiah is the goal1 of the ‘Torah unto righteousness’ to everyone who believes. Footnote: 1Or end purpose; not termination.

Mat 12:38  Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from You.”
Mat 12:39  But He answering, said to them, “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Yonah.
Mat 12:40  “For as Yonah was three days and three nights in the stomach of the great fish, Jon_1:17 so shall the Son of Aḏam be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Mat 12:41  “Men of Ninewěh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Yonah, and look, a greater than Yonah is here.
