Parashat 21 Portion 69 Shemot 31:1-32:14 Ez 20:1-17 Col 3:1-5

Bar’chu et YHVH ha-m’vorach, Baruch YHVH ha-m’vorach l’O’lam va-ed!
Baruch ata YHVH Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher bachar banu m’kol ha-amim, v’na-tan lanu eht Torah-to. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us your Torah.)

Col 3:1  If, then, you were raised (spiritually made alive with the real Yahshua ) with Messiah, seek the matters which are above, where Messiah is, seated at the right hand of Elohim.
Col 3:2  Mind the matters above, not those on the earth.

There is a pattern in heaven that needs to be reproduced on earth – Mat 6:10 -   let Your reign come, let Your desire be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Col 3:3  For you have died, and your life has been hidden(Gk – krupto – English – cryptic) with Messiah in Elohim.

Hidden –Cryptic - deliberately mysterious and seeming to have a hidden meaning – Encarta dictionary. This aptly describes those who have chosen to walk in the footsteps of Messiah.
Col 3:4  When(conjunction – whenever) the Messiah, who is our life, is manifested,(aorist passive 3person singular verb) then you also shall be manifested(future passive verb) with Him in esteem.
Col 3:5  Therefore put to death(aorist active verb) your members which are on the earth: whoring, uncleanness, passion,(inordinate affection) evil desire and greed of gain, which is idolatry.

In the grammar of Ancient Greek, including Koine, the aorist is a class of verb forms that generally portray a situation as simple or undefined, that is, as having an ongoing perfective aspect.

If anyone claims to have the life of Yahshua, they will eventually love and obey the Torah.
Joh 14:15  “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.1 Footnote: 1See Ex. 20:6, vv. 21&23, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John v. 6.

1Jn 5:3  For this is the love for Elohim, that we guard His commands,1 and His commands are not heavy, Footnote: 1See 5:2, 2 John v. 6, John 14:15.

1Jn 2:4  The one who says, “I know Him,” and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Conclusion: If you have truly been raised with Yahshua you will guard the Torah and adorn yourself with the teachings of Messiah - Tit 2:10  ….. so that they adorn the teaching of Elohim our Saviour in every way.

Exo 31:1  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Exo 31:2  “See, I have called by name Betsal’ĕl(in the shadow of El) son of Uri, son of Ḥur, of the tribe of Yehuḏah,
Exo 31:3  and I have filled him with the Spirit of Elohim in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all work,
Exo 31:4  to make designs for work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze,
Exo 31:5  and in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, and to work in all work.
Exo 31:6  “And I, look I have appointed with him Oholiaḇ(Fathers tent) son of Aḥisamaḵ, of the tribe of Dan. And I have put wisdom in the hearts of everyone who is wise-hearted, and they shall make all that I have commanded you:
Exo 31:7  the Tent of Meeting, and the ark of the Witness and the lid of atonement that is on it, and all the utensils of the Tent,
Exo 31:8  and the table and its utensils, and the clean gold lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense,
Exo 31:9  and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin and its stand,
Exo 31:10  and the woven garments, and the set-apart garments for Aharon the priest and the garments of his sons, for serving as priests,
Exo 31:11  and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the Set-apart Place. According to all that I have commanded you, they are to do.”

Today the Ruach Ha Kodesh has once again empowered a people to build a set apart place for the bnei Yisrael – the Kehelah (in Hebrew) – the assembly – the ekklessia (in Greek) – that is very beautiful and desirable to YHVH.

1Pe 2:4  Drawing near to Him, a living Stone – rejected indeed by men, but chosen by Elohim and precious –
1Pe 2:5  you also, as living stones, are being built up, a spiritual house, a set-apart priesthood, to offer up spiritual slaughter offerings acceptable to Elohim through יהושע Messiah.

Eph 1:15  For this reason I too, having heard of your belief in the Master יהושע and your love for all the set-apart ones,
Eph 1:16  do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,
Eph 1:17  that the Elohim of our Master יהושע Messiah, the Father of esteem, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
Eph 1:18  the eyes of your understanding[b] being enlightened, so that you know what is the expectation of His calling, and what are the riches of the esteem of His inheritance in the set-apart ones, Footnote: b Luk_24:45
Eph 1:19  and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who are believing, according to the working of His mighty strength,
Eph 1:20  which He wrought in the Messiah when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,
Eph 1:21  far above all rule and authority and power and mastery, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Eph 1:22  And He put all under His feet, Psa_8:6 and gave Him to be head over all, to the assembly,
Eph 1:23  which is His body, the completeness of Him who fills all in all.

Exo 31:12  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,
Exo 31:13  “And you, speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘My Sabbaths you are to guard, by all means, for it is a sign1 between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that I, יהוה, am setting you apart. Footnote: 1The only sign of יהוה setting us apart, the only sign of the everlasting covenant, is His Sabbaths, one of them being the seventh day Sabbath. This is repeated in Ezek. 20:12 & 20.
Exo 31:14  ‘And you shall guard the Sabbath, for it is set-apart to you. Everyone who profanes it shall certainly be put to death, for anyone who does work(Heb – “malacha” or occupation) on it, that being shall be cut off from among his people.
Exo 31:15  ‘Six days work is done, and on the seventh is a Sabbath of rest, set-apart to יהוה. Everyone doing work on the Sabbath day shall certainly be put to death.
Exo 31:16  ‘And the children of Yisra’ĕl shall guard the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.
Exo 31:17  ‘Between Me and the children of Yisra’ĕl it is a sign forever. For in six days יהוה made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”
Exo 31:18  And when He had ended speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Mosheh two tablets of the Witness, tablets of stone, written with the finger of Elohim.

YHVH not only creates a set apart space for His people but also set apart times for His people to come together.
Psa 114:1  When Yisra’ěl went out of Mitsrayim, The house of Ya‛aqoḇ from a people of strange unintelligibly language, Psa 114:2  Yehuḏah became His set-apart place, And Yisra’ěl His rule.

Exo 32:1  And when the people saw that Mosheh was so long in coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aharon, and said to him, “Arise, make us mighty ones who go before us. For this Mosheh, the man who brought us up out of the land of Mitsrayim, we do not know what has become of him.”
Exo 32:2  And Aharon said to them, “Take off – Heb parak -(tear or break) the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”
Exo 32:3  “And all the people took off(tear or break) the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aharon.  (why tear? Because they were so attached to them)

Exo 32:4  And he took this from their hand, and he formed it with an engraving tool, and made a moulded calf. And they said, “This is your mighty one, O Yisra’ĕl, that brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim!”
Exo 32:5  And Aharon saw and built an altar before it. And Aharon called out and said, “Tomorrow is a festival to יהוה.”
Exo 32:6  And they rose early on the next day, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
Exo 32:7  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Mitsrayim have corrupted themselves.
Exo 32:8  “They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a moulded calf, and have bowed themselves to it and slaughtered to it, and said, ‘This is your mighty one, O Yisra’ĕl, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim!’ ”
Exo 32:9  And יהוה said to Mosheh, “I have seen this people, and see, it is a stiff-necked people!
Exo 32:10  “And now, let Me alone, that My wrath might burn against them and I consume them and I make of you a great nation.”
Exo 32:11  But Mosheh pleaded with יהוה his Elohim, and said, “יהוה, why does Your wrath burn against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Mitsrayim with great power and with a strong hand?
Exo 32:12  “Why should the Mitsrites speak, and say, ‘For evil He brought them out to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from the heat of Your wrath, and relent from this evil to Your people.
Exo 32:13  “Remember Aḇraham, Yitsḥaq, and Yisra’ĕl, Your servants, to whom You swore by Yourself, and said to them, ‘I increase your seed like the stars of the heavens. And all this land that I have spoken of I give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.’ ”
Exo 32:14  And יהוה relented from the evil which He said He would do to His people.

Why build a golden calf?
Most men and women believe that they possess the strength and ability to provide for their own redemption and ultimate salvation. They then go to worship their own ability to do so.

Eze 16:1  Again the word of יהוה came to me, saying,
Eze 16:2  “Son of man, make known to Yerushalayim her abominations,
Eze 16:3  and say, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה to Yerushalayim, “Your origin and your birth are from the land of Kena‛an. Your father was an Amorite and your mother a Ḥittite.
Eze 16:4  “As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water for cleansing, and you were not rubbed with salt at all, nor wrapped in cloth at all.
Eze 16:5  “No eye felt sorry for you, to do any of these for you, to have compassion on you. But you were thrown out into the open field, to the loathing of your life on the day you were born.
Eze 16:6  “Then I passed by you and saw you trampled down in your own blood, and I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ And I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’
Eze 16:7  “I have let you grow like a plant in the field. And you are grown and are great, and you come in the finest ornaments. – breasts were formed, your hair grew, and you were naked and bare.
Eze 16:8  “Again I passed by you and looked upon you and saw that your time was the time of carnal-love. And I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” declares the Master יהוה
Eze 16:9  “And I washed you in water, and I washed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil.
Eze 16:10  “And I dressed you in embroidered work and gave you sandals of leather. And I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk.
Eze 16:11  “And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck.
Eze 16:12  “And I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a crown of adorning on your head.
Eze 16:13  “Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, and honey, and oil. And you were exceedingly beautiful, and became fit for royalty.
Eze 16:14  “And your name went out among the nations because of your loveliness, for it was perfect, by My splendour which I had put on you,” declares the Master יהוה
Eze 16:15  “But you trusted in your own loveliness, and whored because of your name, and poured out your whorings on everyone passing by who would have it.
Eze 16:16  “And you took some of your garments and made multi-coloured high places for yourself, and whored on them – which should not have come about, nor shall it be.
Eze 16:17  “And you took your splendid adornments, of My gold and My silver that I gave you, and made for yourself images of a male and whored with them.
Eze 16:18  “And you took your embroidered garments and covered them, and you set My oil and My incense before them.
Eze 16:19  “And My food which I gave you, fine flour and oil and honey which I fed you, you set it before them as sweet incense – and so it was,” declares the Master יהוה
Eze 16:20  “And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore to Me, and these you slaughtered as food to them. Were your whorings a small matter,
Eze 16:21  that you have slain My children and gave them up to them by causing them to pass through the fire
Eze 16:22  “And in all your abominations and whorings you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, trampled down in your blood.
Eze 16:23  “Then it came to be after all your evil – ‘Woe, woe to you!’ declares the Master יהוה –
Eze 16:24  that you also built an arched place for yourself, and made a high place in every street for yourself.
Eze 16:25  “You built your high places at the head of every way, and made your loveliness to be loathed. And you parted your feet to everyone who passed by, and increased your whorings.
Eze 16:26  “And you whored with the sons of Mitsrayim, your neighbours, great of flesh. And you increased your whorings to provoke Me.
Eze 16:27  “And see, I have stretched out My hand against you, and withdrew what is lawfully yours, and gave you up to the desire of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your wicked way.
Eze 16:28  “And you whored with the sons of Ashshur, without being satisfied. And you whored with them and still were not satisfied.
Eze 16:29  “And you increased your whorings as far as the land of traders, Kasdima, and even then you were not satisfied.
Eze 16:30  “How weak is your heart!” declares the Master יהוה, “seeing you do all this, the deeds of a shameless whore.
Eze 16:31  “You built your arched place at the head of every way, and built your high place in every street. Yet you were unlike a whore, you scorned a harlot-fee!
Eze 16:32  “The wife who commits adultery who takes strangers instead of her husband!
Eze 16:33  “To all whores they give gifts, but you gave gifts to all your lovers, and bribed them to come to you from all around in your whorings.
Eze 16:34  “Thus you are different from other women in your whorings, because no one whores after you, and in you giving a harlot-fee, while a harlot-fee was not given to you. Thus you are different.”
Eze 16:35  Therefore, O whore, hear the word of יהוה

Baruch atah YHVH, Eloheynu, Melech ha-‘Olam, asher natan lanu Toraht-emet, v’chay-yeh o’lam nata-b’tochenu. Baruch atah YHVH, noteyn ha-Torah. Ameyn.”

(Blessed are you Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth, and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah – Ameyn.)
