...we are defined by every
word written in the Torah אנחנו מוגדרים על-ידי כל מילה הכתוב בתורה
Gen 40:1 And after these events it came to be that the
cupbearer and the baker of the sovereign of Mitsrayim sinned against their
master, the sovereign of Mitsrayim.
Gen 40:2 And Pharaoh was wroth with his two officers,(Heb
– sarisaiv – his eunuchs) the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.
The Hebrew word for
“officers” is “saris” and comes from the Hebrew verb “seres” which means to
castrate. This alludes to the fact that all officers and leaders of a false
religious system are “castrated” by the system and are unable to produce a life
giving word that can reveal to us the fullness of who Yahshua is.
It is not a
coincidence that only a remnant is born again from an incorruptible seed.
1Pe 1:23 having been born again – not of corruptible
seed, but incorruptible – through the living Word of Elohim, which remains
forever…
Gen 40:3 So he put them in confinement in the house of
the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Yosĕph was a prisoner.
Gen 40:4 And the captain of the guard put Yosĕph in
charge of them, and he served them. So they were in confinement for some time.
Gen 40:5 Then the cupbearer and the baker of the
sovereign of Mitsrayim, who were confined in the prison, dreamed a dream, both
of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own
interpretation.
The Hebrew word used
for prison is “sohar” Strongs 5470 – meaning a “house of roundness”
It is rather ironic
that the English word “church”(kirke) can also refers to a “house of roundness”

Gen 40:6 And Yosĕph came in to them in the morning and
looked at them and saw that they were sad.
Gen 40:7 And he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with
him in confinement of his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad
today?”
Gen 40:8 And they said to him, “We each have dreamed a
dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” And Yosĕph said to them, “Do not
interpretations belong to Elohim? Relate them to me, please.”
Gen 40:9 So the chief cupbearer related his dream to
Yosĕph, and said to him, “See, in my dream a vine was before me,
Gen 40:10 and in the vine were three branches, and it
was as though it budded – its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought
forth ripe grapes.
Gen 40:11 “And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand. So I took
the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s
hand.”
Gen 40:12 And Yosĕph said to him, “This is the
interpretation of it: The three branches are three days.
Gen 40:13 “Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to
lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you shall put Pharaoh’s
cup in his hand according to the former ruling, when you were his cupbearer.
Gen 40:14 “But remember me when it is well with you,
and please show kindness to me. And mention me to Pharaoh, and get me out of
this house.
Gen 40:15 “For truly I was stolen away from the land of
the Heḇrews. And also I have
done naught that they should put me into the dungeon.”
Gen 40:16
And the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, and he said to
Yosĕph, “I also was in my dream and saw three white baskets were on my head,
Gen 40:17
and in the uppermost basket all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and
the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”
Gen 40:18
And Yosĕph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The
three baskets are three days.
Gen 40:19
“Yet, within three days Pharaoh is going to lift off your head from you
and hang you on a tree. And the birds shall eat your flesh from you.”
Gen 40:20
And on the third day, Pharaoh’s birthday, it came to be that he made a
feast for all his servants. And he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer
and of the chief baker among his servants,
Gen 40:21
and he restored the chief cupbearer to his post of cupbearer again, and
he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand,
Gen 40:22
but he hanged the chief baker, as Yosĕph had interpreted to them.
Gen 40:23
And the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosĕph, but forgot him.
Maybe these are
parables revealing the redemption and life of Messiah –
Rom 10:4 For Messiah is the goal1 of the
‘Torah unto righteousness’to everyone who believes. Footnote: 1Or
end purpose; not termination.
Mat 13:33 Another parable He spoke to them, “The reign
of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of
meal until all was leavened.”
Mat 13:34 יהושע said all this
to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable,
Mat 13:35 so that
what was spoken by the prophet might be filled, saying, “I shall open My mouth
in parables, I shall pour forth what has been hidden from the foundation of the
world.”
Psa 78:1 My people, give ear to my Torah1,
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. Footnote: 1In vv. 1-11
the words “teaching, words, witness, commands, covenant,” are used
interchangeably, as parallels, almost synonymously. We find the same in Ps.
119.
Psa 78:2 I open my mouth in a parable; I utter riddles
of old,
Psa 78:3 Which we have heard and known, For our
fathers have related them to us.
Mar 4:34 and He was not speaking to them without
parables. And when they were alone, He explained all to His taught ones.
Mat 13:13 “Because of this I speak to them in parables,
because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they
understand.
Mat 13:14 “And in them the prophecy of Yeshayahu is
completely filled, which says, ‘Hearing you shall hear and by no means
understand, and seeing you shall see and by no means perceive,
Mat 13:15 for the heart of this people has become
thickened, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed,
lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should
understand with their heart, and turn back, and I heal them.’
Mat 13:16 “And blessed are your eyes because they see,
and your ears because they hear,
Mat 13:17 for truly I say to you, that many prophets
and righteous ones longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear
what you hear, and did not hear it.
Isa 6:9 And He said, “Go, and you shall say to this
people, ‘Hearing, you hear, but do not understand; and seeing, you see, but do
not know.’
Isa 6:10 “Make the heart of this people fat, and their
ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with
their ears, and understand with their heart, and shall turn and be healed.”
Isa 6:11 Then I said, “יהוה, until when?”
And He answered, “Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, and
the houses are without a man, and the land is laid waste, a ruin,
Isa 6:12 and יהוה has removed men far away, and the forsaken
places be many in the midst of the land.
Isa 6:13 “But
still, there is a tenth part in it, and it shall again be for a burning, like a
terebinth tree and like an oak, whose stump remains when it is cut down. The
set-apart seed is its stump!”
Possible
interpretations of the parables of our Torah portion.
- The number three
is often used to remind us of the life death and resurrection of Messiah.
Hos 6:1 ‘Come, and let us turn back to יהוה. For He has
torn but He does heal us, He has stricken but He binds us up.
Hos 6:2 ‘After two
days He shall revive us, on the third day He shall raise us up, so that we live
before Him
- We see in this
Torah portion one person lives – Cup bearer – and one person dies – the
baker. Bread and wine are used to remind us of the covenant that YHVH has
made with us through our mediator – Yahshua. This reminds us of the death
and resurrection of our Messiah.
- We see in the
chap 41:1 that Yosef was in prison for another two years after he
interpreted the dreams. We can say that the revelation of Yahshua has not
been fully revealed to us.
When we keep Yahshua (a type of Yosef) “imprisoned”
we keep ourselves imprisoned.
It seems that the true Yahshua has not been
revealed to the world because of manmade religion pedalled by “Eunuchs”
Gen 41:1 And it came to be, at the end of two years’
time, that Pharaoh had a dream….but there was no one who could interpret them
for Pharaoh…….Gen 41:9 Then the chief
cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, “I remember my crimes this day.
Perhaps the greatest
tragedy is that we who claim to know Yahshua have failed to reveal him as he
was intended to be revealed – see Yoh 12:32
1Pe 1:2 chosen according to the foreknowledge of
Elohim the Father, set apart by the Spirit unto obedience1 and
sprinkling of the blood of יהושע Messiah:
Favour and peace be increased to you. Footnote: 1Obedience is also
stressed in vv. 14 & 22.
1Pe 1:3 Blessed be
the Elohim and Father of our Master יהושע Messiah, who
according to His great compassion has caused us to be born again to a living
expectation through the resurrection of יהושע Messiah from the
dead,
1Pe 1:4 to an
inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, having been kept in the
heavens for you,
1Pe 1:5 who are
protected by the power of Elohim through(the) belief, for a deliverance ready
to be revealed in the last time,
1Pe 1:6 in which
you exult, even though for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by
manifold trials,
1Pe 1:7 in order
that the proving of your(the) belief – much more precious than gold that
perishes, and proven by fire – might be found to result in praise and respect
and esteem at the revelation of יהושע Messiah,
1Pe 1:8 whom
having not seen, you love; in whom you exult with unspeakable and esteemed joy,
yet not seeing, but believing,
1Pe 1:9 obtaining
the goal of your(the faith of yours) belief: a deliverance of lives.
