Gen 39:1 And Yosĕph had been taken down to Mitsrayim.
And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, a Mitsrite, bought
him from the Yishmaʽĕlites who had taken
him down there.

1 And Yosef was brought down to Egypt; and
Potiphar, a eunuch(saris) of Pharaoh's, the chief of executioners, an
Egyptian man, bought him from the hand of the Ishmaelites, that had brought
him down thither.

Why is there such a difference between the Hebrew
and the English translation?
...we are defined by
every word written in the Torah
אנחנו מוגדרים על-ידי כל מילה הכתוב בתורה
Yosef
embodies Messianic life. Yet this Messianic life was placed in subjection to an
impotent master – man made religion. This impotent master has great power and
has executed millions and millions of people throughout the ages. It appears
that YHVH places us under the power of this false religion for a season.
Gen 39:2 And
it came to be that יהוה was with
Yosĕph, and he became a prosperous man, and was in the house of his master the
Mitsrite.
Yosef was a slave, yet he prospered and managed his
master’s household. This teaches us that one’s circumstances do not determine
one’s success in life.
This is one of the sure evidences of the presence of
Messianic Hebraic life.
Yahshua wasn’t rich but he wasn’t poor and he looked
after 12 other men and their families.
What’s the secret?
We must search for the answers regarding these issues.
The name of YHVH is used 8 times in this portion. Eight
is the number of perfection.
YHVH wants to do a perfect work in each of us.
Jas 1:1 Yaʽaqoḇ, a servant of Elohim
and of the Master יהושע Messiah, to
the twelve tribes who are in the dispersion: Greetings.
Jas 1:2 My
brothers, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
Jas 1:3 knowing
that the proving of your belief works endurance.
Jas 1:4 And let
endurance(2 Pet 1:6; Matt 24:13 same Gk word) have a perfect work, so that you
be perfect(mature and whole) and complete,(Gk – unimpaired by circumstances)
lacking in naught.
YHVH will lead all Messianic Hebraic life along a journey
of trials and testing. Only those who overcome will be part of the bride of
Messiah – see 7 letters to the seven assemblies in the book of Revelation.
Rev 3:10 “Because you have guarded My Word of
endurance,(same Gk words used in Jam1:4) I also shall guard you from the hour
of trial which shall come upon all the world, to try those who dwell on the
earth.
Gen 39:3 And his
master saw that יהוה was with him
and that יהוה made all he did to prosper in his hand.
Gen 39:4 So Yosĕph
found favour in his eyes, and served him, and he appointed him over his house,
and gave into his hand all that he had.
Gen 39:5 And it
came to be, from the time that he appointed him over his house and all that he
had, that יהוה blessed the
Mitsrite’s house for Yosĕph’s sake. And the blessing of יהוה was on all that he had in the house and in
the field.
Gen 39:6 And he
left in Yosĕph’s hand all that he had, and he did not know what he had except
for the bread which he ate. And Yosĕph was handsome in form and appearance.
Gen 39:7 And after
these events it came to be that his master’s wife lifted up her eyes to Yosĕph
and said, “Lie with me.”
Gen 39:8 But he
refused and said to his master’s wife, “Look, my master does not know what is
with me in the house, and he has given into my hand all that he has.
Gen 39:9 “No one
is greater in this house than I, and he has not withheld whatever from me but
you, because you are his wife. And how shall I do this great evil and sin
against Elohim?”
Gen 39:10 And it
came to be, as she spoke to Yosĕph day by day, that he did not listen to her,
to lie with her, to be with her.
Gen 39:11 And it
came to be on a certain day, when Yosĕph went into the house to do his work,
and none of the men of the house was inside,
Gen 39:12 that she
caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in
her hand, and fled and ran outside.
Gen 39:13 And it
came to be, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled
outside,
Gen 39:14 that she
called to the men of her house and spoke to them, saying, “See, he has brought
in to us a Heḇrew to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I
cried out with a loud voice.
Gen 39:15 “And it
came to be, when he heard that I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left
his garment with me, and fled and went outside.”
Gen 39:16 And she
kept his garment with her until his master came home.
Gen 39:17 And she
spoke to him these same words, saying, “The Heḇrew
servant whom you brought to us came in to me, to mock me,
Gen 39:18 so it
came to be, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with
me and fled outside.”
Gen 39:19 And it
came to be, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him,
saying, “Your servant did to me according to these words,” that his displeasure
burned.
Gen 39:20 Then
Yosĕph’s master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the
sovereign’s prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison.
Gen 39:21 But יהוה was with Yosĕph and extended kindness to
him, and He gave him favour in the eyes of the prison warden.
Gen 39:22 And the
prison warden gave into the hand of Yosĕph all the prisoners who were in the
prison, and whatever was done there was his doing.
Gen 39:23 The
prison warden did not look into any point that was under Yosĕph’s hand, because
יהוה was with him. And whatever he did, יהוה made it prosper.
It is this messianic life of Mashiach ben Yosef in the
lives of an end time group of non Jews, also known as the “mello ha goyim” –
Gen 48:19 - that will usher in Mashiach
ben David.
The very life Yahshua came to establish in those who would truly follow him.
“Jewish tradition speaks of two redeemers, each one called Mashiach. Both are involved in ushering in the Messianic era. They are Mashiach ben David and Mashiach ben Yossef.1
1.See
Sukah 52b; Zohar I:25b; ibid. II:120a, III:153b, 246b and 252a. (See Sha'arei
Zohar on Sukah 52a for further relevant sources in the Zohar-writings.)”
We believe that the rabbi’s
are speaking of the same Messiah – Yahshua Ha Mashiach.
You can’t put this messianic spirit in prison – you
cannot kill this spirit, it will rise again – you can’t hide this spirit - you can only restrict movement for a while – a
messianic spirit is free even when in prison or bound. A Messianic spirit will
willingly submit itself to abuse and confinement, knowing that even these are
working out a higher purpose to the esteem of the Father.
We are bound by a western feminist spirit but not
imprisoned – we recognize the reality and carry on knowing full well that this
false perception that imprisons us will one day be utterly and totally
destroyed – it will not survive but we will and we will thrive in the midst of
these strongholds – see 2 Cor 10:5
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not
fight according to the flesh.
2Co 10:4 For the weapons we fight with are not fleshly
but mighty in Elohim for overthrowing strongholds,
2Co 10:5 overthrowing reasonings and every high matter
that exalts itself against the knowledge of Elohim, taking captive every
thought to make it obedient to the Messiah,
2Co 10:6 and being ready to punish all disobedience,
when your obedience is complete.1 Footnote: 1John 3:36.
Finally we can make our calling and election sure.
2Pe 1:2 Favour and peace be increased to you in the
knowledge of Elohim and of יהושע our Master,
2Pe 1:3 as His
Mighty-like power has given to us all we need for life and reverence, through
the knowledge of Him who called us to esteem and uprightness.
2Pe 1:4 Through
these there have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, so
that through these you might be partakers of the Mighty-like nature, having
escaped from the corruption in the world, caused by lust.
2Pe 1:5 And for
this reason do your utmost to add to your belief uprightness,(S703 – valor or
manliness or boldness) to uprightness knowledge,
2Pe 1:6 to
knowledge self-control,(Gk/ in – holding) to self-control endurance,(Gk/cheerful
consistency) to endurance reverence, (Gk well pleasing to YHVH)
2Pe 1:7 to
reverence brotherly affection, and to brotherly affection love.
2Pe 1:8 For if
these are in you and increase, they cause you to be neither inactive nor
without fruit in the knowledge of our Master יהושע Messiah.
2Pe 1:9 For he in
whom these are not present is blind, being shortsighted, and has forgotten that
he has been cleansed from his old sins.
2Pe 1:10 For this
reason, brothers, all the more do your utmost to make firm your calling and
choosing,1 for if you are doing these matters you shall never
stumble at all, Footnote: 1Mt. 20:16, Mt. 22:14, Rev. 17:14.
2Pe 1:11 for in
this way an entrance into the everlasting reign of our Master and Saviour יהושע Messiah shall be richly supplied to you.
2Pe 1:12 And so I
intend to remind you of these matters again and again, though you know
them and have been established in the present truth.
2Pe 1:13 But I
think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by a reminder,
