(Bless YHVH the blessed One; Blessed is YHVH, the
blessed One for all eternity. Blessed are you, YHVH, our Elohim, King of the
Universe, you have selected us from among all the peoples, and have given us
your Torah.)
The most
important issue we can occupy and prepare ourselves with in this world is how
we will eventually escape the corruption of this world and enter the coming
Messianic age.
‘’Pesach’’ is the supreme
"chukat olam"
1Pe 1:17 And if you
call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work,
pass the time of your sojourning in fear,
1Pe 1:18 knowing
that you were redeemed from your futile behaviour inherited from your fathers,
not with what is corruptible, silver or gold,
1Pe 1:19 but with
the precious blood of Messiah, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless,
1Pe 1:20 foreknown,
indeed, before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times
for your sakes,
Exo 12:1 And יהוה spoke to
Mosheh and to Aharon in the land of Mitsrayim, saying,
Exo 12:2 “This new moon
is the beginning of new moons for you, it is the first new moon
of the year for you.
Exo 12:3 “Speak to
all the congregation of Yisra’ěl, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this new moon
each one of them is to take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his
father, a lamb for a household.
Exo 12:4 ‘And if the
household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next to his
house take it according to the number of the beings, according to each man’s
need you make your count for the lamb.
Exo 12:5 ‘Let the
lamb be a perfect one, a year old male. Take it from the sheep or from the
goats.
Exo 12:6 ‘And you
shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same new moon. Then all
the assembly of the congregation of Yisra’ěl shall slay it between the
evenings.
Exo 12:7 ‘And they
shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel
of the houses where they eat it.
Exo 12:8 ‘And they
shall eat the flesh on that night, roasted in fire – with unleavened bread and
with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9 ‘Do not eat
it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire, its head with its
legs and its inward parts.
Exo 12:10 ‘And do
not leave of it until morning, and what remains of it until morning you are to
burn with fire.
Exo 12:11 ‘And this
is how you eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff
in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Pěsaḥa of יהוה. Footnote:
aPěsaḥ - See Explanatory Notes - Passover.
Exo 12:12 ‘And I
shall pass through the land of Mitsrayim on that night, and shall strike all
the first-born in the land of Mitsrayim, both man and beast. And on all the
mighty ones of Mitsrayim I shall execute judgment. I am יהוה.
Exo 12:13 ‘And the blood shall be a sign for you on the
houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I shall pass over you, and let
the plague not come on you to destroy you when I smite the land of Mitsrayim.
This
final plague was a once off experience for the nation of Yisrael. The first
Passover, blood was placed on the doorposts of their homes. When this
appointment was kept subsequently, one no longer placed blood on the door posts
of your house.
Today
we know that the Passover has been given its fullest meaning by the shedding of
the blood of our Messiah - Yahshua. 1Co 5:7 Therefore cleanse out the old
leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our
Pěsaḥ was slaughtered for us.
So
when we celebrate the Pesach Seder, we do it as a Memorial Seder, remembering
the deliverance from Mitsrayim as well as THE Lamb of Elohim through which
there came deliverance for us to be called the children of YHVH our Father
because Yahshua became the Mediator between Elohim and man laying down His life
for us-dying in our place for our sins. I Tim 2:5.
Yahshua
speaking of Pesach/Passover said:
Joh 6:53 יהושע therefore said
to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Aḏam and
drink His blood, you possess no life in yourselves.
Joh 6:54 “He who
eats My flesh and drinks My blood possesses everlasting life, and I shall raise
him up in the last day.
Joh 6:55 “For My
flesh is truly food, and My blood is truly drink.
Joh 6:56 “He who
eats My flesh and drinks My blood stays in Me, and I in him.
Yahshua
was referring to Passover kept the way the Torah teaches and realizing that
this huge redemptive event was directly associated with himself as being our
Passove/Pesachr lamb. Failure to do so would have severe consequences – see
Shemot/Exodus 12:43-51
The use of the word
“pasach” in Yesh 31:5 gives every indication that the base meaning is to “hover
over or protect.”
Isa 31:5 “Like hovering birds, so does יהוה of hosts
protect Yerushalayim – protecting and delivering, passing over and rescuing.”
Exo 12:14 ‘And this day shall
become to you a remembrance. And you shall observe it as a festival to יהוה throughout
your generations – observe it as a festival, an everlasting law.
Exo 12:15 ‘Seven
days you shall eat unleavened bread. Indeed on the first day you cause leaven
to cease from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day
until the seventh day, that being shall be cut off from Yisra’ĕl.
Exo 12:16 ‘And on
the first day is a set-apart gathering, and on the seventh day you have a
set-apart gathering. No work at all is done on them, only that which is eaten
by every being, that alone is prepared by you.
Exo 12:17 ‘And you
shall guard the Festival of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I
brought your divisions (hosts) out of the land of Mitsrayim. And you shall
guard this day throughout your generations, an everlasting law.
Exo 12:18 ‘In the
first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, you shall
eat unleavened bread until the twenty-first day of the month in the evening.
Exo 12:19 ‘For
seven days no leaven is to be found in your houses, for if anyone eats what is
leavened, that same being shall be cut off from the congregation of Yisra’ĕl,
whether sojourner or native of the land.
Exo 12:20 ‘Do not
eat that which is leavened – in all your dwellings you are to eat unleavened
bread.’ ”
Exo 12:21 And
Mosheh called for all the elders of Yisra’ĕl and said to them, “Go out and take
lambs for yourselves according to your clans, and slaughter the Passover lamb. (possibly
250 000 lambs)
Exo 12:22 “And you
shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and
strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin,
and you, none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning.
Exo 12:23 “And יהוה shall pass on to smite the Mitsrites, and
shall see the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, and יהוה shall pass over the door and not allow the
destroyer to come into your houses to smite you.
Exo 12:24 “And you
shall guard this word as a law for you and your sons, forever.
Exo 12:25 “And it
shall be, when you come to the land which יהוה gives you, as
He promised, that you shall guard this service.
Exo 12:26 “And it
shall be, when your children say to you, ‘What does this service mean to you?’
Exo 12:27 then you
shall say, ‘It is the Passover slaughtering of יהוה, who passed
over the houses of the children of Yisra’ĕl in Mitsrayim when He smote the
Mitsrites and delivered our households.’ ” And the people bowed their heads and
did obeisance.
Exo 12:28 And the
children of Yisra’ĕl went away and did so – as יהוה had commanded
Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.
Salvation was meant to be for those in households - Act
16:31 And they said, “Believe on the
Master יהושע Messiah, and you shall be saved, you and your household.”
Jer 46:17 “There they cried, ‘Pharaoh, sovereign of
Mitsrayim, is but a noise. He has let the appointed time (mo ed) pass by!’
Jer 46:27 “But as for you, do not fear, O My servant Yaʽaqoḇ, and do not be
discouraged, O Yisra’ĕl! For look, I am saving you from afar, and your
descendants from the land of their captivity. And Yaʽaqoḇ shall return, and
shall have rest and be at ease, with no one disturbing. (promise for our future
deliverance)
Jer 46:28
“Do not fear, O Yaʽaqoḇ My servant,” declares
יהוה, “for I am
with you. Though I make a complete end of all the gentiles to which I have
driven you, yet I do not make a complete end of you1. But I shall
reprove you in right-ruling, and by no means leave you unpunished.” Footnote: 1See
46:28, Isa. 34:2, Isa. 45:17, Dan. 2:44, Amos 9:8, Hag. 2:22.

Midrash:
Why is the instruction of Pesach so significant? I
believe even though we have been called out of darkness into His marvelous
light - 1Pe 2:9 – there remains a future
appointed Pesach where will be set free from the demonic forces of this world. The church teaches that this
translation has already taken place.
In Luke 22:14-16 we
read, "When the time came, Yeshua and the sh'lichim (emissaries) reclined
at the table, and he said to them, "I have really wanted so much to
celebrate this Seder with you before I die! For I tell you, it is certain that
I will not celebrate it again until it is given its full meaning in the Kingdom
of God."
2Co 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin
for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of Elohim. (note
‘’becoming’’)
Joh 17:15 “I do not pray that You should take them out
of the world, but that You keep them from the wicked one.
Joh 17:16 “They are not of the world, as I am not of
the world.
Joh 17:17 “Set them apart in Your truth – Your Word is
truth.[c]

The writer of the book of
Hebrews may have had ‘’Pesach’’ in mind when he wrote:
Heb 10:28 Anyone who has disregarded the Torah of
Mosheh dies without compassion on the witness of two or three witnesses.
Heb 10:29 How much worse punishment do you think shall
he deserve who has trampled the Son of Elohim underfoot, counted the blood of
the covenant by which he was set apart as common, and insulted the Spirit of
favour?
How do you trample the
‘’Messiah underfoot’’?
When you assume that you have
already attained the righteousness of Messiah and you are no longer bound by
the Torah and your future redemption is guaranteed on the basis of your
understanding of righteousness.
Rom 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have
an ardour for Elohim, but not according to knowledge.
Rom 10:3 For not knowing the righteousness of
Elohim, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject
themselves to
(a) the
righteousness of Elohim. Footnote: aOr did not obey.
Rom 10:4 For Messiah is the goal
(b) of
the ‘Torah unto righteousness’ to everyone who believes. Footnote: b Or end purpose; not termination.
In other words some are saying
‘’ I no longer need the Torah to lead me to Messiah’’ I now only depend on the
Holy Spirit. Paul states that the evidence that you are led by the ‘’Holy
Spirit’’ is that you walk in the righteousness of the Torah.
Rom 8:4 so that the righteousness of the Torah
should be completed in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according
to the Spirit.
When we keep ‘’Pesach’’ we are
clearly stating that only the righteousness of Messiah can get me out of this
age into the Kingdom age.
An interesting Midrash
in Exodus Rabbah, T'rumah 35:4 states, “Moshe said to God, 'Will not the time
come when Yisra'el shall have neither Tabernacle nor Temple? What will happen
with them then?' The divine reply was, 'I will then take one of their righteous
men and keep him as a pledge on their behalf so I may pardon (or atone for) all
their sins”.
THE GREAT SECOND CHANCE – THE
SECOND PASSOVER
Num 9:1 And יהוה spoke to
Mosheh in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the first new moon[a] of
the second year after they had come out of the land of Mitsrayim, saying,
Footnote: aOr a month.
Num 9:2 “Now, let the children of Yisra’ěl
perform the Pěsaḥ at its appointed time.
Num 9:3 “On the fourteenth day of this new moon,
between the evenings, perform it at its appointed time. According to all its
laws and right-rulings you perform it.”
Num 9:4 And Mosheh spoke to the children of
Yisra’ěl to perform the Pěsaḥ.
Num 9:5 So they performed the Pěsaḥ on the fourteenth
day of the first new moon, between the evenings, in the
Wilderness of Sinai. According to all that יהוה
commanded Mosheh, so the children of Yisra’ěl did.
Num 9:6 But there were men who were defiled
for a being of a man,(perhaps this includes religious doctrines of men) so that they were not able to perform the Pěsaḥ on
that day. So they came before Mosheh and Aharon that day,
Num 9:7 and those men said to him, “We are
defiled for the being of a man. Why are we withheld from bringing near the
offering of יהוה at its appointed time among the children
of Yisra’ěl?”
Num 9:8 And Mosheh said to them, “Wait,
let me hear what יהוה commands concerning you.”
Num 9:9 And יהוה spoke to
Mosheh, saying,
Num 9:10 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ěl,
saying, ‘When any male of you or your generations is unclean for a being, or
is far away on a journey,(perhaps includes backsliding) he shall still perform the Pěsaḥ of יהוה.
Num 9:11 On the fourteenth day of the second
new moon, between the evenings, they perform it – with unleavened
bread and bitter herbs they eat it.
Num 9:12 They do not leave of it until
morning, and they do not break a bone of it. According to all the laws of the
Pěsaḥ they perform it.
Num 9:13 But the man who is clean and is
not on a journey, and has failed to perform the Pěsaḥ, that same being
shall be cut off from among his people, because he did not bring the offering
of יהוה at its
appointed time – that man bears his sin.
Num 9:14 And when a stranger sojourns among
you, then he shall perform the Pěsaḥ of יהוה. He
shall do so according to the law of the Pěsaḥ and according to its
right-ruling. You have one law, both for the stranger and the native of the
land.’
Exo 12:43 And יהוה said to
Mosheh and Aharon, “This is the law of the Pěsaḥ: No son of a stranger is to
eat of it,
Exo 12:44 but any servant a man has bought
for silver, when you have circumcised him, then let him eat of it.
Exo 12:45 “A sojourner and a hired servant does
not eat of it.
Exo 12:46 “It is eaten in one house, you are
not to take any of the flesh outside the house, nor are you to break any bone
of it.
Exo 12:47 “All the congregation of Yisra’ěl
are to perform it.
Exo 12:48 “And when a stranger sojourns with
you and shall perform the Pěsaḥ to יהוה, let all
his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and perform it, and he
shall be as a native of the land. But let no uncircumcised eat of it.
Exo 12:49 “There is one Torah for the
native-born and for the stranger who sojourns among you.”
Exo 12:50 And all the children of Yisra’ěl
did as יהוה
commanded Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.
1Co 5:7 Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so
that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Pěsaḥ was
slaughtered for us.
1Co 5:8 So then let us celebrate the festival, not
with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the
unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Never do you hear ‘’kill
them’’ but ‘’kill it’’ Shemot 12:4,6,9,10 – 250 000 lambs are killed - Joh 1:29 On the next day Yoḥanan saw יהושע coming
toward him, and said, “See, the Lamb of Elohim who takes away the sin of the
world![c] Footnote: c Mat_1:21, Tit_2:14, 1Jn_3:5
and 1Jn_3:8.
Pesach not only saves us from
our sin but separates us from this world.
Exo 4:22 “And you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus
said יהוה,
“Yisra’ěl is My son, My first-born,
Exo 4:23 so I say to you, let My son go to
serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, see, I am killing your son, your
first-born.” ’ ”
Isa 26:9 ….. for when Your judgments are
in the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
