Complete Song of Mosheh/Moses Parashat 55 ‘Ha Azinu’’ Deut 32

Blessed are You, YHVH our Elohim, King of the universe, who has made us set apart through His commandments and commanded us to engross ourselves in the words of the Torah. Blessed are You, YHVH, Giver of the Torah – Amein.

The Song of Mosheh/Moses will be a song sung and understood by those in the last days who have been shown the way back into the presence of the Almighty – the Rapture song - Rev 15.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed YHVH in the garden YHVH lost something very precious – an uninterrupted and perfect love between Himself and Mankind. Why did YHVH allow this? Because He knew and He wanted all His creation to witness that one day a remnant of redeemed mankind would return to Him out of their own free will; without Him having asked them; and without any ulterior motive; and they would willingly restore to Him what had been stolen from Him. This remnant would love Him with all their hearts, with all their beings and with all their might, forever and ever.

Revelation 15 tells us who this chosen remnant is:

Rev 15:3  And they sing the song of Mosheh the servant of Elohim, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvellous are Your works, יהוה Ěl Shaddai! Righteous and true are Your ways, O Sovereign of the set-apart ones!

This is why YHVH didn’t kill Lucifer and the fallen messengers.

70 lines of the Song of Mosheh/Moses – two columns in the Torah scroll.

Line 1(right) Dev 32:1 “Give ear, O heavens, and let me speak;

Line1(left) and hear, O earth, The words (sayings) of my mouth.

All of His creation, in the heavens and on earth will hear an end time remnant sing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb. The Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb is the same song.

Line 2 (right) Dev 32:2 “Let my instruction fall as rain,

Line 2(left) My sayings shall drop down as dew

All His Torah – from Genesis to Revelation (John 10:34 quoting Psalm 82:6 and others)

Line 3 (r) A rough pelting rain כִּשְׂעִירִם which falls on the tender plants,

H8163/4 – שָׂעִיר –– only one appearance in the Scriptures ‘’A rough pelting rain’’ implies that there is a destructive demonic source. A rain that destroys tender grass.

‘’Sa'ir’’ was a Hebrew word for "he-goat", and it is not always clear what the word's original meaning might have been. But in early Jewish thought, represented by targumim and possibly 3 Baruch, along with translations of the Hebrew Bible such as the Peshitta and Vulgate, the se'īrīm were understood to be demons.

Strong's H1877, when referring to weeds, usually points to the Hebrew word "deshe"  (דֶּ֫שֶׁא), which generally means "sprout, green herb, vegetation, or grass". In the context of weeds, it's often used to describe the "weeds among the wheat" in the parable in Matthew 13.

Line 3 (l) And as showers on the עֵשֶׂב grass (weeds)

H6212  עֶשֶׂב eh'-sev - From an unused root meaning to glisten (or be green); grass (or any tender shoot): - grass, herb. Also, a cognate of ‘’Esav’’ עשו

H7241 רביב râbı̂yb heavy showers

Line 4 (r) Dev 32:3 “For I will call on the Name of יהוה,

This is a huge problem and only YHVH can solve it.

Line 4b(l)   Ascribe greatness to our Elohim

הָבוּ (hāvu) – ascribe or acknowledge the greatness of our Elohim He will solve this problem.

Our hope is that YHVH alone will destroy this unique and devastating ‘seed’’

Line 5 (r)  Dev 32:4 “The Rock! His work is perfect,

The Master – the Rock is now introduced – (1 Cor 10:4) to take care of this problem.

Mat 13:30  Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I shall say to the reapers, “First gather the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary.” ’ ”

Line 5 (l) For all His ways are right ruling, (Messiah)

Hebrew mishpat מִשְׁפָּט emphasizes fair, righteous decision-making

Line 6 (r) An Ěl of truth and without unrighteousness, (moral distortion)

Line 6 (l) just and right (straight) is He.

Line 7 (r) Deut 32:5“he became corrupt with the moral stains that were not His but those of his sons.”

Line 7 (l) a generation crooked and perverse.

A generation perverse and twisted and morally torturous.

Line 8(r) Dev 32:6 "Is this how you repay YHVH?” (enlarged הַ)

לְיְהוָה, תִּגְמְלוּ-זֹאת

תִּגְמְלוּ - second person plural imperfect - Is this how you (will) repay – future tense.

Line 8(l) A foolish and unwise nation

Line 9 (r) Is He not your Father, who bought you,

1 Cor 6:20 says we have been bought קָּנֶךָ with a price!!!

1Co 6:19  Or do you not know that your body is the Dwelling Place of the Set-apart Spirit who is in you, which you have from Elohim, and you are not your own? 1Co 6:20  For you were bought with a price, therefore esteem Elohim in your body and in your spirit, which are of Elohim

That’s why idolatry should not be and will not be tolerated in our lives – we belong to Him and Him alone.

Line 9(l) Who created you and established you

Line10(r) Dev 32:7 “Remember the days of old,

Line 10(l) Consider the years of many generations.

From generation to generation the scriptures testify YHVH’s faithfulness and mankind’s unfaithfulness.

Deut. 9:24 – “You have been rebellious against YHVH from the day that I knew you.”

‘’humanity as a whole has never produced a generation that fully and wholeheartedly served YHVH.’’

Line11(r) Ask (plead) your Father and let him show you

Line11(l) Your elders, (m) and let them say to you:

זְקֵנֶיךָ וְיֹאמְרוּ לָךְ

Line12(r) Dev 32:8 “When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance (allotments)

After the worldwide destruction of the flood (Gen 6) a surviving remnant of mankind under the guidance of fallen angels decided to try and protect themselves from all future judgments and they built a demonic stronghold in defiance to YHVH – Tower of Babel.

Gen 11:8  And יהוה scattered them from there, over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. Gen 11:9  That is why its name was called Bael,c because there יהוה confused the language of all the earth, and from there יהוה scattered them over the face of all the earth. Footnote: cBael is derived from a verb which means “to confuse.”

Line12(l) When He separated (parted פּרד) the sons of Aam,

Line13(r) He set the boundaries of the peoples

The European headquarters in Strasbourg is built like an incomplete tower of Babel. In other words they see their mission on earth to complete this tower in defiance against any future threats of global annihilation of mankind.

Line13(l) According to the number of the children of Yisra’ĕl (בְּנֵי אֱלֹהִיםbenei Elohim)."

The Dead Sea Scrolls (Qumran texts) and the Septuagint (LXX) both support the reading "sons of God" (בני אלהים)

Line14(r) Dev 32:9 “For(because) the portion of יהוה is His people,

Gen 12 (after events of Gen 11) describes YHVH’s intention of calling a set apart people from all the nations of the earth – Abraham – the first Hebrew.

Line14(l) Ya’aqov His allotted inheritance.

From the seed of Abraham would come Yakov and his 12 sons who would form the ‘’allotted’’ חבל – measured separated portion which is His inheritance נחלה or family on earth.

Line15(r) Dev 32:10 “He found him in a wilderness,

Heb “yimtzeoo” means “he will find him”

Line15(l) And in a wasted, howling desert.

Both historical as well as a future application.

Line16(r) He encompassed him, He made him understand,

Line16(l) He watched over him as the apple of His eye.

Zec 2:8 (Ps 17:8) For thus said יהוה of hosts (for the sake of esteem He sent me to the nations which plunder you): “For he who touches you touches the apple of My eye.

Line17(r)Dev 32:11 “As an eagle stirs up its nest,

יָעִיר to wake (literally or figuratively)

Line 17(l) Flutters יְרַחֵף over its young,

Over His fledglings’ chicks  גּוֹזָלָיו   of him he is ‘’vibrating’’ יְרַחֵף see Gen 1:2

Line18(r) Spreading out its wings, taking them up

Line18(l) Bearing (lifting) them on its (his) wings.

Rev 12:14  And the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, to fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, Dan_7:25, Dan_12:7 from the presence of the serpent.

Line19 (r) Dev 32:12 יהוה alone led him,

Line19(l) And there was no strange mighty one with him.

YHVH didn’t need any help to defeat Israels enemies.

Line 20(r) Dev 32:13 “He made him ride in the heights of the earth

Lit. Heb. states – He caused him to ride on the high places of the high places (Heb –‘’bâmâh’’ high places of worship). Note how these two words which mean the same are differently spelled

Line 20(l) And he ate the fruit of the fields,

Eze 36:30  “And I shall increase (tenûbâh) the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of scarcity of food among the nations.

Eze 36:31  “And you shall remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good. And you shall loathe yourselves in your own eyes, for your crookednesses and your abominations.

Eze 36:32  “Not for your sake am I acting,” declares the Master יהוה, “let it be known to you. Be ashamed and blush for your ways, O house of Yisra’ěl!”

Line 21(r)  Deut 32:13  And He made him draw (suck) honey from the rock

Psa 19:7  The Torah of יהוה is perfect, bringing back the being … Psa 19:10  More desirable than gold, Than much fine gold; And sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.

Line 21(l)  And oil (m) from the flinty rock,

Blessings of wilderness guidance and provision from unlikely sources.

Line 22(r) Dev 32:14 “Curds from the cattle, And milk of the flock

‘’kefir’’ or חֶמְאַ is fermented or matured milk which is very nutritious and can sustain a desert wonderer for a long period of time.

Line 22(l) With fat of lambs

Line 23(r) And rams of the breed of Bashan, And goats, vs 14

Line 23(l) with the choicest wheat.

YHVH provided His people with the choicest portions of meat and wheat.

Line 24(r) And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.

This is possibly an important turning point in the song– Despite Israel’s abundant provision they celebrate YHVH’s appointed times with malice and deceit.

Isa 1:11  “Of what use to Me are your many slaughterings?” declares יהוה. “I have had enough of ascending offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs or goats. Isa 1:13  “Stop bringing futile offerings, incense, it is an abomination to Me. New moons, Sabbaths, the calling of gatherings – I am unable to bear unrighteousness and assembly. Isa 1:14  “My being hates your New moons and your appointed times, they are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them.

See 1 Cor 11 – Mat 5:23-24

Line 24 (l) Dev 32:15 “But Yeshurun grew fat and kicked

Line 25(r) You grew fat, you grew thick, You are covered with fat;

Your appointed feasts had no spiritual significance – they just made you fat.

Line 25(l) So he forsook Eloah who made him

Line 26(r) And scorned the Rock of his deliverance.

And you treated with contempt (Heb. “va yin a bel”) the ‘’Rock’’ who brought you salvation.

Line 26(l) Dev 32:16 “They moved Him to jealousy with foreign matters,

Foreign (zarim) contrasts sharply with YHVH’s known character and deeds as revealed in the Torah.

Line 27 (r) With abominations they provoked Him.

The “abominations” (toʿevot) here almost certainly refers to the rituals of foreign gods – these include Christmas, easter and Sunday worship - Images or idols (cf. Deut 27:15) Child sacrifice (Deut 12:31; Jer 32:35) Sexual rites tied to pagan shrines (Lev 18:24–30).

Line 27 (l) Dev 32:17 “They slaughtered to demons – not Eloah

Paul directly addresses the idea of slaughtering/sacrificing to demons in 1 Corinthians 10:20–21, and he’s clearly echoing Deuteronomy 32:17, the very verse after בְּתוֹעֵבֹת יַכְעִיסֻהוּ.

Line 28(r) Mighty ones they did not know

Line 28(l) New ones who came lately

Idiomatically: “recently” or “from nearby.” “From recent times” — not part of Israel’s long history.

Perhaps one of the most powerful ‘’new gods’’ that have come into the world is what scholars call ‘’antinomianism’’ – the Torah of YHVH has been done away with. What about the doctrine of the trinity?

Line 29(r) Which your fathers did not fear.

Line 29(l) Dev 32:18 “You neglected the Rock who brought you forth

The Messiah was misrepresented – 2 Cor 11:3,4. If we get the Messiah wrong we get everything wrong.

Line 30(r) And forgot the Ěl who fathered you.

And forgot/ignored (shâkach) the Ěl (Yahshua) who travailed for you  חיל

The evidence that a people or nation has forgotten YHVH is when they no longer care for the widow and orphan. These are nations and peoples controlled by foreign gods.

Psa 82:4  Rescue the poor and needy; Deliver them from the hand of the wrong. Psa 82:5  They do not know, nor do they understand, They walk about in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

Line 30(l) Dev 32:19 “And יהוה saw, and he was despised

Line 31(rBecause of the provocation of His sons and His daughters.

Line 31(l) Dev 32:20 “And He said, ‘Let Me hide סָתַר My face from them

Deu 31:18  “And I shall certainly hide סָתַר My face in that day, because of all the evil which they have done, for they shall turn to other mighty ones. Deu 31:19  “And now write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Yisra’ěl. Put it in their mouths, so that this song is to Me for a witness against the children of Yisra’ěl.

Line 32(r) Let Me see what their (latter)end is, vs 20

Line 32(l) For they are a perverse generation

Hebrew – “they turn things upside down” – תַּהְפֻּכָה – overturn or pervert

Line 33(r) Children in whom there is no trusting. (no loyalty)

Line 33(l) Dev 32:21 “They made Me jealous by what is not Ěl,

In the Torah scroll this “ El” has a tittel over it -  Moshe is drawing our attention to a hidden meaning – These are other gods – the gods of the nations.

Line 34(r) They provoked Me with their worthless matters.

Line 34(l) They have roused Me to jealousy with a no-god

Line 35(r) I provoke them with a foolish nation.

Rom 11:14  if somehow I might provoke to jealousy Deu_32:21 those who are my flesh and save some of them.

Line 35(l) Dev 32:22 “For a fire was kindled in My wrath

Line 36(r) And burns to the bottom of She’ol, vs 22

Line 36(l) And consumes the earth and its increase,

Line 37(r) And sets on fire the foundations of mountains.

The hidden foundations מוֹסְדֵי of the high places – spiritual stronholds.

Line 37(l) Deu 32:23 “I gather (heap) evils upon them,

The song addresses YHVH’s servants who don’t escape into the wilderness.

Line 38(r) I use up My arrows upon them

Line 38(l) Dev 32:24 “Wasted by scarcity of food, and consumed by heat and

Line 39(r) bitter destruction,

Line 39(l) And the teeth of beasts I send upon them,

Line 40(r) With the poison of serpents of the dust.

Line 40(l) Deu 32:25 “The sword bereaves from the outside,

Line 41(r) And fear from within,

And horrors from your innermost chambers

Line 41(l) Both young man and maiden,

Line 42(r) Nursing child with the man of grey hairs.

Line 42(l) Deu 32:26 “I said, ‘I should blow them away,

Root: פאה (paʾah) “to annihilate to the extremities.” Found only once in the scriptures.

Yahveh is speaking about judgment on Israel for covenant unfaithfulness.

“I said, I would scatter them, I would erase the memory of them from mankind…”
This is hyperbolic covenant-curse language, echoing the warnings of Deut 28:64 and Lev 26:33.

Line 43(r) I should eradicate from men the remembrance of them vs 26

Line 43(l) Dev 32:27 ‘If I did not fear the enemy’s taunt (weak translation)

‘’Unless I shrink away אָגוּר from the vexation of the enemy’’ (the enemy will perceive YHVH as weak and taunt Him if He doesn’t act against all this idolatry)

Line 44(r) Lest their adversaries misunderstand, vs 27

lest his adversaries misconstrue (and say)…”

Line 44(l) Lest they say, “Our hand is high

Idiomatically: “our hand is raised high” → “our power is great / triumphant.”

Line 45(r) And יהוה has not done all this.”

Lit “and not YHWH did all this.” This is the false claim YHVH is concerned the nations would make — taking credit for Israel’s downfall themselves and denying that it was YHVH’s work of covenant judgment.

Maybe the biggest enemy of the end time believers will be fellow believers in the camp trying to deceive them.

‘’Yes — historically and biblically, Israel’s most persistent and dangerous enemies have often been internal rather than external. This is a consistent theme in Scripture, as well as in historical experience.’’

Line 45(l) Dev 32:28 “For they are a nation lost to counsel

Line 46(r) And there is no understanding in them. Vs 28

Line 46(l) Dev 32:29 “If they were wise, they would understand this

Line 47(r) They would consider their latter end!

Line 47(l) Dev 32:30 “How would one chase a thousand,

Line 48(r) And two put ten thousand to flight,

Moses is now referring to Israels humiliating defeat by her enemies. The Chumash – Page1107 comments that Israel’s non -Jewish conquerors are now convinced of their own invincibility because they are too foolish to realize what was happening to Israel by the hand of their enemies - vs 29 continues -

Line 48(l) Unless their Rock had sold them

Rev 13:7  And it was given to him to fight with the set-apart ones and to overcome them. And authority was given to him over every tribe and tongue and nation. Rev 13:8  And all those dwelling on the earth, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the slain Lamb, from the foundation of the world shall worship him.

Destiny of end time believers - Jer 15:2  “And it shall be, when they say to you, ‘Where do we go?’ then you shall say to them, ‘Thus said יהוה, “Those for death, to death. And those for the sword, to the sword. And those for scarcity of food, to scarcity of food. And those for captivity, to captivity.” ’

Eze 6:8  “But I shall leave a remnant, in that some of you shall escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered throughout the lands.

Line 49(r) And יהוה had they given up?

Line 49(l) Dev 32:31 “For their rock is not like our Rock

כִּי לֹא כְצוּרֵנוּ, צוּרָם;

Even the enemies themselves (next clause: וְאֹיְבֵינוּ פְּלִילִים) are forced to admit the difference.

Line 50(r) Even our enemies are judges

Here פְּלִילִים doesn’t mean that Israel’s enemies are literally judges in a court, but that even Israel’s enemies can see and acknowledge the difference — they themselves are witnesses to the superiority of Israel’s God over theirs.

Line 50(l) Deu 32:32 “Their vine is of the vine of Seom

The Sodom imagery underscores that their seeming strength is false and will not endure, unlike Israel’s YHVH-given Rock and vine.

The Chumash says that Israel suffered because they behaved like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah ‘as if the Jews were transplants of those two evil cities that became the prototype of wickedness. As a result, Israel had suffered what it had brought upon themselves – their vine turned into poison ‘’ Rashi.

Rev 11:8  and their dead bodies lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Seom and Mitsrayim, where also our Master was impaled,

Line 51(r)And of the fields of Amorah.

This builds on כִּי מִגֶּפֶן סְדֹם גַּפְנָם (“for their vine is the vine of Sodom”) in v.32.  Together, “vine of Sodom” and “fields of Gomorrah” symbolize apparent prosperity rooted in wickedness.  The poetic contrast is with Israel’s vine and land, which are blessed by YHVH.

Line 51(l) Their grapes are grapes of gall

Prophetic imagery emphasizes that their prosperity is not wholesome or life-giving, unlike Israel’s vine, which is blessed and fruitful.

Line 52(r) Their clusters are bitter.

In other words, what seems fruitful and prosperous brings ruin and bitterness — a prophetic warning about the vanity and moral corruption of the nations.

Line 52(l) Dev 32:33 “Their wine is the poison of serpents,

חֲמַת תַּנִּינִם, יֵינָם;

The Song prophetically emphasizes that what the nations produce may seem like sustenance or prosperity, but it is spiritually and morally poisonous, unlike Israel’s blessed vine under YHVH.

Line 53(r). And the fierce venom of cobras.

“Their wine is like the venom of serpents.” emphasizes that what the nations produce may seem like sustenance or prosperity, but it is spiritually and morally poisonous, unlike Israel’s blessed vine under YHVH.

Line 54(r) Sealed up among My treasures.

חָתוּם, בְּאוֹצְרֹתָי                    literally “Sealed in my storehouses.”

Now shifting the focus from Israel’s enemies to YHVH’s own power and authority.

YHVH is saying that vengeance, judgment, or strength against the enemies is preserved and ready, securely stored by Him.

Line 54(l) Dev 32:35 ‘Vengeance is Mine, and repayment,

The Hebrew verb (shillem) speaks of a deserved punishment, in the sense of a repayment for whatever wrong was done by a person. The point is that the punishment is deserved, and it is ultimately only YHVH Who has the right to avenge the wrongdoers, giving them what they deserve.

According to Rashi – conversation of the nation’s ends and now reverts back to Israel

Line 55(r) At the time their foot slips.

לְעֵת תָּמוּט רַגְלָם – (when you begin to feel all hope is gone)

Conclusion:

If we ignore this song or think it does not apply to us – we do so at our own peril.

However, if we internalize this song and pray for YHVH’s insight and mercy –I believe He will deliver us and bring us into the millennial reign of the Messiah.

Blessed are you YHVH, our Elohim, King of the Universe, you have given us your Torah of truth and have planted everlasting life within our midst. Blessed are you, YHVH giver of the Torah. Amein.
